Humming melodically with a bob of her head to the beat, Teiluj bounced a rather flexible twig up and down and from side to side. Giggling every so often. On the end of the stick was a roll of fluff Teiluj had attached onto it. Her golden eyes watched as the loatoa she was currently being entertained by would swipe up to grab it. Succeeding every once in a while, just enough to keep the creature interested in the game. She had grown quite fond of the small feline. Tao was currently in a training session with Lynx, her now partner. A large smile played across her face as he crossed her mind again.
She had gone so long without truly having anyone outside of her mother to call family. Now it was like she had found the rarest treasure in the world, not only a partner, but a large family that came with him. Giggling at the near miss of another bounce from the loatoa, Teiluj sighed. Something else had changed within her too. She was bolder, less afraid, more comfortable in her own skin. Having been accepted by others, she found it easier to accept herself too. It felt like a dream, the way she didn't have to hide her mixed race. Her own skills in healing had also adapted, growing more accustomed to the feel of the magic flowing from her earthling blood.
A book beside her was the source of her studies, but in the time she had come to Oba she had managed to find another tutor of sorts. To help her in her magic. She used to studies as a way to earn a simple income to help out in the household. Her mind drifted back to home, her own mother, she would need to leave some sort of message back in Juahar that she was traveling. That she was planning to travel with Lynx to Matori to see the members of his family she had yet to meet.
That would have to be her next stop. She surmised.

"So what do you want to do Teiluj." A female asked calmly. Trying not to upset the agitated hybrid.
Teiluj took a deep breath, letting it out slowly as she weighed the possible options in her mind. "I'm fine for now, so please, lets just get moving. I feel like I want to walk a bit now; I really don't want to lie down already. So lets just spend some time walking Tao maybe down to the markets and back, or something like that. I know I can mostly get through this from all the studies I've done. I just can't do this alone."
The woman nodded, understanding what Teiluj needed. If the expectant hybrid wanted to walk for a bit she would walk with her. She had taken Teiluj on as a charge for the final few weeks of her pregnancy since the hybrid did need someone to help deliver the small child. She couldn't be expected to do it on her own. Teiluj had sent word to Lynx about her current situation, while Tao trailed behind the two women as they walked.
It had taken the good part of several weeks of searching before Teiluj had settled on the right woman to help her. It just felt wrong in a way, putting Lynx in a position where he would have to deliver the baby. The woman Palasha, as Teiluj had grown to know her as, was a hybrid herself. Helping to put Teiluj at ease by teaching her all that she could about each of their historical backgrounds. About the culture of each race that filled her and Lynx.
Teiluj had found all this information very important. Having listed them all in turn. Alkidike, and Shifters were both lineage that Teiluj was familiar with and so those were easily brushed upon. Races both her and Lynx shared, though it shocked her to know that Ice tribesman were also a shared lineage between them. One of the hardest tribes to learn about, in the hybrids humble opinion. The other races seemed to flow together a bit better. The Wind and Leaf tribes were the most foreign. While Oban's were the simplest due to their current living situation.
The hybrid felt it was important for her to know all she could about each race to help her better prepare for raising her child. She had learned from her mothers failures and was tree whipped if she repeated the same behavior. They started out at a normal walking pace, Teiluj setting the tempo. She would grunt softly every so often but would not slow down at all. At first, her contractions didn't appear to be very painful or hindering in any way. But as dwon arrived and the morning progressed, that began to change. Little by little, her contractions came closer together, and lasted slightly longer each time. She was having to slow her pace, hisses of discomfort escaping her. Her water broke shortly before noon, and Palasha helped her back home and into some simpler clothes. Eventually, it became to difficult for Teiluj to walk at all during her contractions; she had to stop walking and lean against the bedroom walls inside of the house, grimacing and sometimes moaning softly at the pain. Still she insisted on walking during the breaks.
"That's enough, Teiluj, no more walking. You need to lay down here."
Teiluj nodded exhaustively, too tired to argue. Being on the move had helped her get through the early stages of labor, but now it was becoming too difficult. She stood by while Palasha hastily shifted around some pillows. It was relatively comfortable, but unfortunately lying down didn't seem to agree with the expectant hybrid either. Teiluj was starting to get throbbing lower back pain, even between contractions. After trying several positions to alleviate the discomfort, she settled on standing and leaning forward with both hands against the wall supporting the head of the bed. Palasha stood behind her, massaging her back with steady, firm strokes.
Glancing around the bedroom Palasha realized the water was missing. "Hang onto this for just a moment I'll be right back with you." The woman excused herself from the room, checking to see Lynx's location to pass along how his woman was doing. Giving instructions to set a large pot of water to boil. Checking that the drunk Alkidike outside was not interfering in any way. It had been almost smart of the couple to give the formidable Aishan liquor to consume. Rendering her merely a vocal irritation at best.
Lynx had been banished out of the bedroom by Palasha. It wasn't a permanent one however, just till their small bundle was screaming and had finished the first meal. She would consider her job well done after that. Gathering up a few more linens for Teiluj, Palasha passed by the anxious father once again. "She's nearly there, not long now. You best be thinking of some names. You're going to be a father before you know it." She didn't wait to see how Lynx would react before rushing back to be with Teiluj.
Eventually the back pain subsided in Teiluj, only to be replaced by even more intense and frequent contractions. Teiluj was finally forced to lie down. though it remained difficult to keep still. She found herself writhing helplessly as agony wracked her body. It was worse than the color changes to her body. For some time Teiluj questioned her ability to deal with the pain. She kept repeating over and over in her head that it would be over soon, and somehow that helped her cope. She listened as best she could for Lynx's voice on the other side of the door. He too was giving her additional strength through this even though he wasn't physically beside her. He was her constant, and she would do this for him. Even though she couldn't hear anything from the other side of the door. She could only hope he was there.
After an hour or so, Teiluj's body shifted, and the worst of the pain subsided. The contractions still hurt, but at least now she could feel the end approaching. Remember what the books had told her. Save her energy let your body do the work. She did her best to relax under the circumstances.
The sun had nearly set on the eastern horizon before Teiluj finally let out a tremendous scream. She lay on the bed for a few moments on the verge of losing her consciousness, trying to catch her breath. Then a small weight was placed her chest, a warm slightly squirmy weight. She opened her green eyes.
Her breath was stuck in her throat. There, covered in a soft blanket, was the most beautiful sight she had ever seen. From her vantage point she could only see the familiar Alkidike markings on the newborns forehead. Two tiny fists curled against her chest, but she was already enchanted. There was a Thin cloth placed over the small bundle for protection, an added security that Palasha had adopted over the years of delivering Hybrids.
"This is your son," she said simply. "It doesn't seem like you're out of the woods just yet either." Palasha quickly whisked away Teiluj's firstborn to give the woman room to continue.
As if on queue, more contractions passed through the female hybrid. Signalling the way of yet another arrival to their small family. This time the birth was exceptionally quick. Teiluj found this one to be far less painful than the first.
"Well gods be blessing you today, Teiluj. You've yourself a daughter too." Palasha promptly returned the first small bundle to Teiluj as she called Lynx to join them in the room. Insisting that he remove the cloth covering his chest before passing the second small bundle to him. Informing him how important it was she be held against his chest. "A boy and then a girl. You must be a very proud father." Palasha beamed. "Go on, sit by your wife while and see your son too."
"Vaehaerys." Teiluj mumbled softly to the bundle in her hand. Reaching up to stroke her firstborns hair. As if in reaction, the small infant blinked his eyes open for the first time. Teiluj gasped.
Golden. The shade her eyes had been before the change brought on by the pollen. The same change that had afflicted her mates twin brother. Her eyes turned to look at her daughter in Lynx's arms. She too had the same golden eyes. Teiluj laughed Joyously. It was impossible to not love her precious gifts any more than she already did?
Zybilna, -as their daughter had been named- took a moment to stare at both her mother and father in turn. Her gaze slightly unfocused. Zybilna let out a frustrated whine, her lower lip quivering in what Teiluj recognized as the precursor to tears. "She's going to need to feed." Scooping away Zybilna from her father's clutches, Palasha once again shooed Lynx out of the room.
"Come back in a moment after Teiluj has made sure both can eat. And by the gods go check on that woman outside. Her horrible singing really isn't so good for their soft ears. Even the hounds have taken to joining in. Gods cursed it's awful. It's far worse than a whale in heat, for the sake of your lovely woman here. Do something about that." The irritation was now evident on the sleep deprived mid-wife's face.
Teiluj chucked at the way her mother was described. Yes, that was just like Maya.
Palasha busied herself with cleaning up the bedroom, checking that both newborns were well fed, eating, and cleaned. Once she had gone through the proper checklist, each bundle was placed in the arm of a loving parent. "You know where to find me for the follow-up in case there's anything that goes wrong. I'll stop in again tomorrow to check up on the both of you and your darlings. Gently rubbing the top of Zybilna's head to soothe her cries into whimpers. "You'll have your work cut out for you with these spirited ones. mark my words on that."
The new found mother beamed towards the father of her children. "We've really been blessed. Not just with one but two. A boy and a girl." Teiluj cooed, repositioning Vaehaerys in her arms, marveling at how easily he soothed with the connection of their contact. They had not been expecting more than one child, and so there was only a single bassinet prepared for the children. Which meant that one of the newborns would have to continue to be held until another was was procured. Teiluj had to wonder if this would become an ongoing battle between they would have to consider now that there were two of them. That was a problem for tomorrow, Teiluj surmised, gently soothing the small boy in her arms.
