XXXGlyphs? The Headmaster's semblance? What exactly was this all supposed to mean? It's true that everyone's semblances seemed to be running in disarray, but to claim it as someone else's. Was that even possible? ... There was some sense to it, in some odd way. Clearly, they did not have their own semblances. Ren was creating beams of light, Kail summoning glyphs. The girl hadn't seen Sakura suffer from any disturbances, but she herself had her very wings work against her all morning. All of that could be addressed in time. First, they had to get Kail out of her luminous prison. That's when the series of events unfolded so rapidly. Yui had called out to her teacher to clear the area only to bash the chair against it like some neanderthal. What else could she do, though? Punching it was an option but she didn't want to risk setting off whatever embers remained in her weapon. The impact seemed to ricochet off the glyph to bounce Yui back with the same force, knocking the very chair out of her hands. She would stumble several feet back, attempting to regain her bearings. Her arm was stinging, the near white bandages now seeping with red. Perhaps such spontaneous actions weren't best for her own well being, but it was worth it. The luminous prison of intricate symbols would shatter and disappear to nothing.
The Lioncourt would hiss softly in pain, clutching her teeth together as she worked to ignore her wound. "Of course, Professor Schuer. I'm glad that you're safe... How is your head? I brought first aid with me." Her steps were carefully placed, not attempting to approach Kail as she moved to the door to retrieve the first aid kit. However, she came to a stop only to back up. Why was she being so cautious? It was the harmonious hisses that rose from the snakes that slithered into a formation. Yui knew better than to approach the snakes when they were on such high alert. So instead, she'd remain as far away from them as she could manage while keeping blue hues fixated on them. "Bowie, Markus, Felicia... I do apologize for startling you. I'll... Just remain over here." A soft sigh escaped her lips, as she wished to have her aura read by Kail in order to understand why her embers have left her. Alas, reckless actions came with consequence. Those consequences just happened to be an angry handful of snakes that Yui would be wary of. "Ren has been manifesting weapons of light, fairly similar to my own ember creations. ... Sakura, have you had anything out of place occur with yours, as ours have?" A very straightforward question, but Yui wanted to gather as much information on the situation as possible. "... Once the snakes calm down, could you please treat Professor Schuer if she still needs it? I feel like they won't let me near for the time being, because of the scare... I suppose I wouldn't either."
Sakura's jaw dropped comically seeing Yui come in with a chair. She physically flinched when the chair met with one of the glyphs. Well, at least it worked? Sakura let out an exaggerated sigh. She was just glad that no one was hurt. Though, from how those snakes were acting, she feared that maybe no one getting hurt was still a possibility. Hopefully Kali would stop the snakes before things got too bad. Speaking of Kali, Sakura felt only a bit proud that she called her plan a "good idea". But only in the short term. Sakura's shoulders slumped and she pouted like a child being scolded by their parents. "Right..." She mumbled to herself. But there's no time to mentally beat herself up now, she was being asked a question that she needed to answer. "Huh? Oh, uh, well all I know is that I can't use my usual semblance." She wanted it back as soon as possible. She felt like she had a scratch that just refused to be itched. An annoyed look crossed her face unknowingly, her arms crossed and her nails slightly digging into the fabric that covered them. She seemed to be festering silently in her own emotions and only snapped out of it when Yui spoke again. "I can do it." Sakura said only slightly too quickly. She wanted to help somewhat. She may not have her semblance but she could still actually be useful and not sit around twiddling her thumbs while waiting for Kali to do The Thing. She actually still had yet to really see Kali do one so this was certainly an experience for her. "I'm an expert in this kind of stuff." Well, maybe sort of. She's medically taken care of her siblings before so that still counted, right? M-Maybe? She didn't know. But it didn't hurt to try!

Kail would reaach out for Ren, as he put his hand out, however, before she could touch him, a glyph appeared in front of her hand, blocking her from touching him. "Confound this semblance!. She would move slightly over, holding her hand out for him to touch. They were making it difficult to do what she needed to do to help her students.
Then Yui would mention her head wound. She would reach up with her other hand, up to her head. The blood was dried on her head. It was wet and sticky, and tasted like iron. "Oh, I'm still injured, I just think this is far more important. She would then reach for Ren, finding his hand, but it was the one that was to his side. She would bring it up, and prod his aura with her own. "I smell a tigress. I have smelled this tigress on Rachel, the Survival teacher. I do not know the students name, but she feels stubborn." She would look towards Sakura. "Then I trust you fully." She gave a short hiss towards her snakes, them backing into a corner, despite being angry.

Ren could hear the confusion more than the voices before the snakes seemed on the offensive to protect their mother. This caused Ren to shudder with his ears' fur stading on end for the moment before she began to back away to keep out of the snake's range. He tilted his head for a moment before he shook his head when she seemed uncertain about being able to treat Kali. He noticed the hand reaching out for him as he flinched by instinct before he tried to calm his nerves and reach out to grasp at her hand carefully just as she reached his own. "A tigress?" He asked while tilting his head a bit.

XXXThat's all they had to work with on Sakura's front. That answer just didn't sit right, it wasn't enough. It last in satisfaction. Yui felt a sense of relief knowing that despite Sakura's own semblance malfunctioning, it wasn't out to get her. Unlike the others here. They had call casting barriers right and left, going as so far as to hinder the simple act of stretching her hand out. Then Ren's own semblance that kept manifesting a blinding light. The winter haired girl wasn't ready to drop her guard with his semblance either, keeping the sunglasses settled on the bridge of her nose. The girl was terrified of whatever was plaguing her own semblance. In the past she had gotten burned by it countless times, but burns could be treated easily enough. The flames could be doused, she could rest easy. Not with this. The bladed feathers that threatened to slice her to ribbons at any moment left her on the edge of her seat. As Kail and Ren began to work in reading aura, Yui would offer a small but supportive smile towards Sakura. She seemed to jump at the idea of helping their professor. In fact, she had practically answered before Yui even finished her question.
It only took a few moments for Kail to properly conduct an aura reading. In just a snap she was able to most identify who the aura had apparently belonged to. Seemingly a tigress who was quite stubborn and fancied the survival teacher in some way. Yui's pale blue hues would narrow at the new found information, processing it. "So our semblances truly aren't our own... Then the one I have must belong to someone who also has wings..." It was a basic deduction, but a simple one. The semblance she received had been so fine tuned around the production of feathers that it had to belong to an avian faunus. She had seen a few of them around the academy before. The Headmaster being one of them, but he produced glyphs. There were a couple others that she remembered from aura class. A man with wings as well as Danae who she met again in the cafeteria. ... Carefully she would raise her hand to clutch her finger tips down on a hardened feather. With a sudden tug, the feather would eject from her wing with no resistance. It was hardened like metal, sharpened like a blade. Something was familiar about this semblance, though she couldn't quite place her finger on it.
Even as the snakes were hissed away Yui wouldn't move. It was dangerous to tread carelessly in any direction that angry vipers were. While she trusted their obedience towards their mother, it just wasn't something she would risk. Not until Kail took the opportunity to read her own aura. Until then, she'd examine the feather while waiting for Sakura to begin mending their professor. ... Meanwhile she too had to wonder, who gained her embers? 'I hope they're okay... Oh no. I hope they don't touch fire dust!' A genuine concern sparked in her mind, pale blue eyes widening at the thought. Many students were walking bombs at this point, but whoever received hers was especially in danger if she tried to use dust.
Kali fully trusted her? Sakura sucked in a small breath in surprise. She didn't know why but that made her feel a lot...better? Sakura smiled before giving Kali a nod. Sakura would do her best not to betray that trust! And she better considering this did relate to her teacher's health and Kali could fail her for making her even more worse off than she already was. Sakura walked over to Kali before she began fixing her up, all the while listening to the conversation around her. Their semblances got mixed up? Wait, did everyone swap semblances then? That meant she had someones though she was still unsure as to who's it was. Or how it worked. She hoped this would get resolved soon enough. "Do you think this is someone else's semblance? Swapping other people's semblances? Or maybe it's something else entirely..." Sakura trailed off in her own thoughts once more, still working on fixing up Kali. Multi-tasking was no problem for her.

Kail felt hands working on her head, bandaging it. That was something that she would never be able to do to herself. Normally you would have to see in order to properly handle a wound. Ren was confused at a Tigress. "Yes, a Female Tiger faunus." She would then look in Yui's direction. Had they not read the report? She would then say out loud. "Repeat last email read." The phone would reply with a "Yes Professor"
The phone would then read off a public alert, that stated that there was an aura flux, that could possibly cause some issues, there was a lot of scientific jargon about what was happening. "In more simple terms, and based on what we are experiencing, it's more of a mixture of aura, however, the other aura is controlling our semblances. Remember, Aura is just the manifestation of our souls, used for combat.
She would then tenderly reach for Sakura. If the hand was given to her, she would start to read the aura. If not, then she would wait until the woman allowed her to.

Ren was still mostly confused but got the gist of it from what Yui pointed out along with Kail's work. He nodded his head before he soon openly stated, "I sure hope they don't give people hugs, only I want those hugs!" He shouted in defiance as he raised his right hand up and shook his fist in the air, before promptly blinding himself again by summoning an even brighter sword. "DEARGODWHY!!!" It was getting annoying at this point as he used his free hand to cover his eyes once more. He could hear Sakura speaking off to try and confirm what he had just confirmed before he soon said, "I believe that is the gist of it yes caused by some tiger faunus." He told Sakura before the email began to respond before he shook his head. "Damn.... that sucks."

XXXIn the worry of someone accidentally discharging her semblance, it was the words of the scroll that caught Yui's attention. It was a public safety alert that had been announced the anomaly that was unofficially declared the 'Aura Flux' or 'Semblance Swap'. Some phenomenon that caused the unnatural mixture of aura among the population, which resulted in miscalculated and unintentional outputs of aura. In short, it caused an odd jumble of misfiring semblance for countless individuals. It could have impacted the population as a whole, from the sounds of it. Students, teachers, huntsmen, citizens... There was a chance that none were immune to this phenomenon. As for what the actual cause was, it seemed to be unknown. However, it was eyebrow-raising all the same. What had the capability of causing such a disturbance? Was it permanent? If it wasn't, could it happen again? There were far more questions than answers now, and that was certainly saying something. The thought of it all caused Yui to fall silent, speechless. What were they even to do? ... Well, for now, it was just a matter of getting through the day. It seemed they'd all have their work cut out for them as Ren summoned another blade of light. Yui would wince at the sight, but nearly unphased due to the glasses she wore. Today was another trail they'd all have to endure. Here's to hoping they could make it through the day alive, just hoping that a solution would come to light.
XXXThe water festival had officially started and Yui was still kicking herself about it. Prior to the festival, while she had kept herself busy with recovery, meeting with the headmaster, and challenging a familiar Lioness to a battle of fates, she was still not in the most stable of conditions. Because of that, she had kept putting off signup for the exhibition matches during the water festival. Be it with a challenge against another student, a trail of athleticism, or battling the grimm, Yui was eager to flex her capabilities where they could be recognized. But, with how badly she had injured herself during the mission, she wasn't quite sure if she'd be up for the task. Now though, she was certainly capable of it. Only issue was, she missed the initial signup period. So now... Well, she wasn't really sure what to do with her time during the water festival. It seemed like everyone she stayed remotely in contact with had plans during the festival, and once again her team had fallen into a state of disarray. She couldn't necessarily blame them, though, as the alpha and omega missions had really pushed the boundaries for the academy and many of the students as a result. Everyone needed a break, everyone needed to recover, and everyone needed to forget about what happened. Though... She wasn't in a position to do any of that.
During most of the time since the mission, she had spent that in the infirmary while Dr. Field and Professor Schuer examined her extensively after she pushed her body far beyond what it should've been capable of. Even after the initial Alpha Mission, she had pushed her limits by experiencing exponential growth with her semblance, then utilizing that and dust to help Chase secure her team and make it out of there safely. It was in the return to the Alpha Cave though that really proved to be dangerous, as not only was her aura exhausted, but she kept calling on more of herself and the dust she had. After all, she felt she didn't have a choice. It was either her own health or the lives of half of her squad. When it came down to it, there really wasn't a choice to make. As a result, though, she had severe injuries throughout her body, severely depleted aura, and very well set the inside of her body on fire with what could only be described as a dust overdose that her semblance was able to utilize. The fact that she was still conscious after it and the fact that she still had some use of her arm was a miracle in-of-itself. After all the effort they put into ensuring that the dust overdose had no long term effects and that her arm was able to recover properly, at least mostly, that took up most of her time. Kail of all of them seemed the most worried, as she often did whenever it concerned a lot of aspects about Yui. .. It was something that the white-winged girl really appreciated and adored about the teacher, but it made her start to worry about making Kail so concerned. .. She had to do better, she had to ensure that Kail didn't have to constantly worry about both her mental and physical state.
That being said, when Yui was capable of it, she never hesitated to help Kail out where she could. While Yui often volunteered at multiple classes to aid where they needed, there was a special spot where she helped Kail more. Perhaps it came from the initial impression that Kail left on her, a special bond that they seemed to develop as Yui began her journey at Beacon. That, brought them to now. Yui's scroll, a device that she had oddly grown uneasy with [you can thank Kendall and the dance for that], had received a message from Kail. It was requesting Yui's presence in her office at her earliest convenience, likely to go over some more files and help her get her office together as they started to prepare for the classes that would come after the water festival. Classes almost seemed inevitably suspended after the mission, so it was only a matter of time before the teachers had to actually buckle down and get their classrooms ready for when they were actually in session again. Something that Yui of course was absolutely delighted to help with, especially if it was aiding Kail.
So, with that being said, Yui made her way to Kail's office ASAP. After all, what else was she going to do? The festival had started, her team seemed no where to be found, and she was running out of options aside from... Well, she could always train. But physical therapy already seemed to take up a lot of that effort. Upon arriving to Kail's office, Yui noticed that the windows were dark. Dark enough that Yui could barely make out the office inside, mostly the fact that Kail was in there. Or at the very least, her snakes were, which meant that Kail was too. It wasn't unlike the professor to navigate her own office in the dark. .. After all, she couldn't see, so she didn't need the lights in the room to operate as it was. With a knock on the door, Yui would call out. "Professor Schuer? I got your message, this is Yui. I'm coming in and turning on the lights." Yui made sure to make clear as she opened the door. After all, Kail had no visual indication of her presence. Only what she could communicate and the sounds she made. Yui wasn't looking directly into the room as she stepped in. Instead, she had her head turned away for a moment to flip on the light switch.

Kail was excited. It had been a while since she was able to throw a party for someone. She worked very hard to get it all done. She had even spent time listening to videos on how to make decorations on the cake. She had gone and gotten streamers. She had not seen them, but the feel of them was nice. They were hanging haphazardly across her office. Honestly, she wouldn't have gotten them up at all if not for Bowie. Bowie would climb up and hold the streamers in place for Kail to place the tacks. Bowie got an extra rat for that.
The cake was a little more difficult. The cafeteria wanted to help her by making the cake for her, but this was a special day for the girl. Plus, Kail at least knew how to make a cake, though the staff were unsure of letting a blind woman into a kitchen. The reason they were worried? Well, Kail got all her meals from there, well, other than oatmeal, tea, and instant noodles. Those were all things she could do with hot water. This was a cake though. She used to make cakes for Obsidian all the time. This time, there was an issue...Kail didn't know her favorite flavor. So she would make a vanilla cake, everyone liked vanilla cake didn't they? What Kail didn't know is that there was always a helper near her. When she made her batter, it wasn't the best, so one of them distracted her and changed it out. When it finally became time to cook the cake, she put it in the oven, and waited. She could only go by smell and the timer. When it smelled good, she would open up the oven, and poke a metal tester into it. When she felt it, it was still soupy. Then one on the chefs told her that they would call for her when it was actually done. She would pout, but she knew that she couldn't see what it was. She would sit at an empty table waiting.
Once it was all done, and cooled, she was allowed back. They had even provided her with a buttercream frosting. She would spread it around, getting so many crumbs into the frosting. It honestly looked like it was killing the chefs, but Kail couldn't see it. Their Aura's however where nervous. When she finished, the cake was frosted, but very unevenly. Then she got into food coloring. Why didn't they put braille on it? She would pick one of the colors at random, the blue color. She was told to only put a few drops in some in a different bowl. She would put two in, and mix it. The color was not fully through it. She would then put it in a bag. She felt for the flower tip, and had already put that in. She tried to make little daises, as was told to her by the video. They didn't look like daisies. Then she would start on the leaves she was also told to do. She picked the red food coloring out on accident and put in what she thought was a few drops, however, it was 9. She would mix it through, and it was almost a blood red. She would make the leaves out of this one. The leaves looked better than the flowers for sure.
Then someone offered to take the cake up to her office for her. She thanked them. She didn't think that she could make it back there holding something so big. It was brought to her office, and placed on her desk. She would then call for Yui. She was so happy about her cake making skills, and the chef helped with some of the steamers that were in the room. She even had a little firework popper to pop when Yui came into the room.
Yui would announce her presence, and move to turn on the lights, when she did, Kail would pull her popper. "Happy Birthday, Yui!" She and the snakes would greet her.
XXXYui expected darkness, Yui expected an innocent greeting from her teacher, and Yui expected snakes. But when she opened the door and turned on the lights, she froze on the spot with the sound of a party popper. Fingers still gripped the lightswitch, her pale blue eyes staring blankly in surprise at her teacher. "..H-huh?" She asked almost meekly, looking no different than a deer in headlights as she tried to process it all. Those weren't the words she ever expected to hear. Not before her birthday. Especially not from someone that wasn't her Aunt or father, especially after Sensui's passing. Kail's gleeful expression, the array of colors, and streamers strung around the office haphazardly. Not only was Kail eager to greet her, but it wasn't often that she saw all three of her slithery companions out in the open in the face of the company. It was an uncommon but sweet gesture. Confetti and bits of streamers were still falling as she stepped into the room, wide blue eyes panning the room. "What is this..? Professor, how did you.." She felt so... Shocked? Surprised? Moved? Happy? Confused? Whatever it was, it swelled and resonated in her chest. It itself wasn't sure what it was, but it was on the verge and ready to burst. Kail was a couple of days early, but how did she even know to begin with? How did she put all of this together, where did it all come from? Yui hesitated at first, taking just a couple of steps, but then.. Well, she didn't take it slow. She moved with brisk steps to Kail, eyes still looking at the assortment of colorful streamers. That's not what really caught her eye, though. First, it was Kail, whose smile was so sweet and sincere. Before she could follow up, her eyes found what was sitting on the desk. It was a cake; an unusual one at that. It was a slathered mess of icing and cake crumbs, almost like sandpaper. At some parts, Yui could even see the cake through the frosting, others were mounds of sugar. But the icing on the cake, no pun intended, was an assortment of what looked to be lumpy, pale blue flowers. What kind, Yui wasn't certain, but had contrasting deep, bright red leaves. ... If it wasn't for the floral shape, someone may have thought Kail stabbed the cake herself. It certainly wasn't store-bought. No, it was certainly hand made. She could see and feel the effort put into it. It took passion to make something... Like this. "You did this... for me?" Her tone was soft, gentle. Confused, but felt certain wetness in her eyes.

Kail was still smiling. It sounded like Yui was confused. She understood that. Yui didn't know that Kail had taken note of her birthday when she was working on the injured Yui. She loved the student, as if she was a child, and she wanted to surprise her. She hoped that she got everything right. She must have scared the poor kid in the party store, by asking so many questions about things. Especially since she never left the campus. It had been so long since she had gone anywhere other than the school grounds. The reasoning? The school didn't think it was safe. That was ridiculous, Kail was a huntswoman who is more than capable of taking on Grimm, why couldn't she also take on Vale?
Yui would then question how she knew it was her birthday. "My Dear, I was one of the ones treating you. I know that your birthday is coming up, and I wanted to make you feel special." Then Yui's voice got soft. Oh no, did she mess up? Kail would grab her cane and get closer to Yui. "I'm sorry if it's not what you would have expected....I wanted to make you something, because it feels more special than buying something...Maybe I should have let the ladies in the cafeteria make the cake..." she would trail off, not sure if she had really messed up.
XXXYui would blink slowly, still taking time to just... Process. That made sense. Kail covered everything that had to do with dust and aura, so it only made sense that she oversaw her treatment. She saw what Yui did to herself, but it did nothing to show what she was capable of now. But, that had nothing to do with this. Kail did well to lay it out in black and white for her, because Yui herself still seemed to struggle with the little pleasures. A surprise. She never knew quite how to respond to them, especially one that struck so close to home. Or rather, what was home. It wasn't often that someone went out of their way to make her 'feel special.' In fact, she could count the number of people on just her left hand alone... Each did it in their own way, but... Yui's eyes widened at the sound of doubt in her teacher's voice. She didn't hesitate to shake her head. "No. That's not it at all." Yui was quick to say, trying to correct the mood she set in the room. "It's just.." Her words began to trail, seeming unable to really grasp what she wanted to say. Why was it always gestures like this that got her so choked up? Kail stepped closer to her, words of discouragement spilling from her lips as she tried to justify what she did. She had to stop this, and without further hesitation, she'd do just that. Yui took a quick step forward and wrapped her arms around Kail. Not so tight that she'd give Bowie a rival for their money, but tight enough for Kail to really feel it. "No one's ever made a cake for me before..." That was it. That was a start. A trickle of words in a reluctant, but loud whisper as she clung onto the professor. Yui's head tucked down against Kail's with her eyes shut, but warm tears trickled down her cheeks. This wasn't the first time that Kail had somehow become a towel for her tears, and likely wouldn't be the last. This time, at least, they were trickles of surprise and joy rather than peeling away years of subconscious trauma. ".. And coming from you means that much more. Thank you, Professor." There were plenty of questions that Yui could've asked. How did she make it by herself? Was it hard to do? Did she have help? But, did that really matter? Somehow, miraculously, Kail pulled it together for her. Yui would've appreciated anything, even a storebought cupcake for just the thought alone. But the fact that Kail not only took care of her but made special note of her birthday. Then took the time and effort to make her something, no matter how it turned out, she adored it all the same. ... After all, she loved her teacher and appreciated everything she's done for her. She hasn't been able to do anything in return, but Kail just keeps giving selflessly. What did she do to deserve someone like her in her life?

Kail looked disappointed in herself. She should have just asked for teh cake to be made. Maybe she should have just asked the ladies in the cafeteria to help her decorate the cake. Then, from nowhere, Yui came and hugged her. Yui's head would tuck into the short woman's shoulder. She explained that no one had ever made a cake for her before. That was sad. Kail would reach up and just rub her hand along Yui's hair. "Well, then I'm glad I got to make you the first one, even if it might not be entirely right."
Then there were tears. Kail would just keep rubbing her hair to comfort her. She was enjoying the tight hug though. She would give her more of the serpentine squeeze. "I appreciate that, I know it's not the best, but it's made from the heart." It was the truth. Kail appreciated any help that she got, whether large or small, as to her, everyone was just blips of Aura in a dark void.
She would smile, "Now, are we going to cut the cake, or find a candle to light and sing to?" There was joy back in her voice. She wouldn't stop Yui from hugging her, but when Yui was ready to let go, they could eat the cake.
