.crossing those hills.
.whisper and yei.

Yei invites Whisper to a guided tour of the Mountainside. This is not without ulterior motive as she intends to show him a very secret place; one that she feels surpasses that of lagoons, groves and caves in both beauty and solace...

.yei, neph, acajou.

.yei umeko.
Well, it wasn't that high and as she gazed down from the small ledge she perched precariously upon she couldn't help but wonder why on earth she had decided to take this route down when there was a much more reasonable way to go.

"Well, it's not that high." She mused, releasing a sigh through her partially parted equine lips before at last bouncing from the ledge, her descent somewhat unsteady as she was not a mountain goat and her hoofs weren't built for landing, leaping and climbing across somewhat damp boulders - even so, she was doing surprisingly well.

"You see, this is why I envy Soquili with wings sometimes!" She chirped irritably to nothing in particular, thin air for all she cared but there had to be some way to express her irritation as she came to a halt amongst the large field of boulders on the mountainside and released a puff of irritation...only another four miles to go or so?

.nephilim.
Nephilim had let the winds carry him through the air like a feather, softly and gracefully through the air, flapping his wings every so often, as to keep him off the ground.

The air filled his nostrils, the stinging freshness made him dance in the air. With the last breath of stinging air, he noticed a Soquili skidding down what seemed to be the side of a rather large hill or mountain. She didn't seem to be doing so well.

He glided down quickly to see if she could have used some help. She had finally stopped on the boulder. Nephilim flew down to her side.

"'Ello! Are you alright? You look a bit flushed and whiped out." He spoke from the air, flapping his wings around a bit.

.acajou.
Acajou picked his way easily down the rocks, knowing exactly where he was going, having been born and raised up here in the mountains. He liked having an advantage. And up there, it was really useful to know what you were doing. as he turned the corner on a narrow ledge, he spotted a red mare and a pale wind stallion.

He thought it best to get closer before calling to them, so as not to startle them as much, and cause them to stumble. Acajou often forgot that the soquili travelling through these parts weren't as agile as he and his family before him, and had frightened quite a few before. Making a huge leap from one ledge down to another, he decided this was close enough. Steadying himself on the rocky ledge, he called to them. "Hello there." His voice rang out, bouncing off the rocky walls around him. He tossed the braids away from his face and awaited their reactions.

.yei umeko.
Flushed? Yei couldn't help but raise a brow at this due to the fact that her coat was bright red, how could she possibly be anymore flushed with a coat like that? She failed to comment however and instead shook her head as she regathered her composure and took the opportunity to glance first at the wind soquili and then at the other.

    Typical, both were male.

"I am perfectly alright, I simply lack the cloved hooves of a mountain goat." She responded cooly before readjusting her weight upon the rather small boulder - she could navigate this area as she too lived within the mountains but she failed to see how anyone could steadily descend through this rock field when none of the boulders further on down were big enough to support more than one hoof.

    Then again, they were male.

...In their eyes anything was possible for them and she was jst the damsel in distress, right?

    Right.

"Am I to assume you are here to rescue me fair sirs?"

.nephilim.
Nephilim looked at her with a confused face.

"Er... No, can't say that I am. I was just flying over head and saw that you were having a bit of difficulty, so I just going to ask if I could help you out a bit. But, looks like you're pretty capable of doing it yourself. Especially with how well you've been doing, and how far you've come."

He flew up to the other Soquili.

"If you're here to help her out, she seems not to want any. I am Nephilim. Nice to meet you!"

.acajou.
Acajou laughed, this female was fiesty. Maybe she'd be fun to play with. He shoved that thought aside as she asked if they were there to rescue her. "I was actually just making my way to the stream for a drink ma'am." He said, trying to remain polite.

He looked over at Nephilim and grinned. "M'name's Acajou." He said, bowing curtly, then looking back at the female. "It's a pleasure." He finished, leaping suddenly from the ledge he was on, down towards the mare. "Although if you would like help miss, I was born and raised here, so call for me if you need anything, name's Acajou." He said, turning to continue on his way to the stream, then stopping.

"Unless the both of you would care to join me for a drink?" He offered, looking from the mare to the winged stallion, then in the direction he was headed, a corridor between two walls, that lead to a nice clearing where a mountain stream ran through.

.yei umeko.
"I was born and raised here too I'll have you know!" Yei chirped hotly, flicking her tail as she watched the stallion walk away before glancing at the winged stallion who had moved away from her as soon as the opportunity had arisen - pfft, so much for males with manners, or was it that they were all afraid of her (as usual)?

"And just because I'm not a goat doesn't mean I can't navigate my way down a hill!" She continued, puffing out her cheeks before becoming more and more aware that he was simply walking further away...How dare he!

Choosing to ignore the winged stallion who had turned his back on her earlier she darted after the bay male, her hooves clicking loudly on the rocks.

"Didn't your mother ever teach you any manners?!"

.nephilim.
Nephilim shrugged as he watched the red mare walk away. He spread his wings and flew down next to Acajou, folding his wings in and walking like the rest of the Soquili.

"I'd love to get a nice drink from the mountain stream. I love water. Especially that which is as fresh as the crystal water coming from the Mountain Stream." He mentioned as he nodded towards Acajou.

He turned his head and had noticed that the red mare had joined the group.

"Oh, Hello again." He said feigning a smile, as he could tell she was rather angry with the two of them.

.acajou.
Acajou felt slightly confused by the female. She was being kinda mean...He frowned lightly and flicked his braided tail, looking at her as she caught up to him. "I'm sorry ma'am, I didn't know. You looked upset, honest. I wouldn't have said anything if I'd known." He said, hanging his head a little, though still headig towards the stream.

Looking over at Nephilim, he smiled again, "Yes, it is quite a lovely little stream..." The mahogany stallion trailed off, wondering why they'd both chosen to come with him after all. He honestly hadn't expected either of them to follow, and this was quite a treat for him, having company. Maybe he could convince them to play a game with him after they'd all drank their fill.

.yei umeko.
"I'm not a taken mare yet, therefore I'm no ma'am..." Yei mused as she came to an extended walk and arched her neck a little to catch both in her sights - both seemed to be suitably uncomfortable following their meeting and their assumptions so she could safely assume they felt guilty for thinking she was weak.

"But I was tired, not upset...there is a distinct difference and I would advise knowing of it before you fall for any pretty mare or they may take your head off." She pointed out before flashing a smile and drooping one ear while the other remained perked, an odd look if most were honest.

"I'm Yei Umeko but most call me Yei."

.nephilim.
Nephilim turned his head to catch her smile and nodded softly. "I am Nephilim. I would like to apologize for how I acted before, I guess we just got off to a rocky start... No pun intended." He laughed a bit, seeing as he met both of them on piles of rocks and boulders.

"Are you going to come to the Mountain Spring with us for a drink? I'm very excited to go exploring!"

He smiled and continued trotting on behind Acajou.

.acajou.
The mahogany stallion thought about what the mare had said....fallng for a pretty mare? "Ewww...no. I'm not interested in stuff like that...I mean." He said, laughing a little and tossing the braids away from hsi face again. He looked back at Nephilim. "Exploring is what I do best." He giggled, prancing a little and then feeling a little too silly and going back to walking normally.

Flicking his tail he looked over to Yei. "Well....I meant to say....I'm just not like that. I'd rather play a game of tag then chase after mares any day. Unless...I was playing tag with a mare...in which case I guess I'd be chasing her, but, it's not the same." He said, trying not to sound so silly, but he couldn't help it, he always confused himself.

.yei umeko.
It made her smile even more, as she received her introduction from the winged stallion and observed the young bay who seemed to stutter over his words and thoughts in a confused and yet endearing fashion, she knew what he meant but she wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to tease and confuse him further.

"But how do you know that the mare you're chasing doesn't think you want her heart?" She enquired curiously as she drew near the pair and nodded to Neph to indicate she was coming with them, "What if she thought you were chasing her to prove you were fast enough and strong enough for her?" She persisted, her grin growing wider with every word.

.nephilim.
Nephilim realized that she was just toying with the other stallion and turned his head to giggle. This is going to be a fun day, he thought to himself. Two new friends and tons of adventures infront of us!

.acajou.
Aca cocked his head, clrealy confused by what she was saying to him. "Well.......Uhmm...." He stuttered some more, not sure what he could possibly say to that. "I..." He stopped and turned his head to look at her. Unable to think of something to say, he turned back in the direction he had been leading them and trotted ahead, finally realising that she had been teasing him. He pouted a little and continued, trying to ignore them for a moment.

Reaching the end of the corridor, Acajou turned to the both of them and smiled. "Here we are then, the stream." He said, grinning broadly as he again tossed the braids away from his face, backing into the clearing carefully, so he didn't trip.

.yei umeko.
Oho, she wasn't going to let him avoid her that easily and with a giggle she trotted forward to rest her muzzle against his, flicking a glance towards Neph briefly to invite him into the joke after all, if another male joined in it could make the poor stallion even more flustered!

"And what if I were to say that I liked you and that I thought that this invitation was for more than just a drink?" She enquired in a husky voice, her eyes flicking back towards Aca who she had to admit, was attractive but she was well aware that he wasn't interest in anything more than playing coltish games.

Still, was always fun to tease stallions with seductive moves on occasions.

.acajou.
Acajou was shocked when she lay her muzzle against his, and he really wasn't sure how to react. "Well....I'd tell you I'm not incredibly interested." He said bluntly, feeling ashamed that he had, by now, almost completely forgotten his manners. "I thought we just went over that...." He mumbled, knowing she'd hear due to her...closeness.

He flicked his tail and pulled away from her, blushing slightly. Maybe I am interested after all? He asked himself, not really sure what was going on now. Was she still teasing him? He shook his head and snorted, Of course I'm not. He laughed, rearing up a little and then racing towards the stream.

.yei umeko.
Fair play... She withdrew as he stated what he had to say and released a sigh as she trotted after him, her pace slower and more controlled as she drew to a halt and shook her head, flicking her gaze briefly towards him.

"Well at least no one can say they'll ever misunderstand you." She mused calmly before lowering her head to take a sip of the crystal clear water, her fiery mane slipping into the water beside her.

.acajou.
The mahogany stallion followed the red mare with his chocolate eyes, feeling bad for being so blunt. "Uhmm...Hey, I'm sorry miss. That was...it was a little too blunt I'm afraid," He said, laying hsi ears back and hanging his head again, "Not at all how I meant it to come out. I must say, you're very pretty, I just don't know if I'd be able to handle....a relationship." He said, getting quieter towards the end of his last sentance. He flicked his tail, for something to do, and then reached the water as well, bending to take a drink from the cool waters.

Acajou wanted desperately to change the subject, and as he pulled his head up from the stream, water dripping a little from his muzzle, he thought of something else to talk about. "So, how is it that you were born and raised here, and I've never seen you before?" He questioned, hoping he hadn't offended her at all

.yei umeko.
"I don't really recall." Yei replied with a frown as she lifted her head and fixed her gaze on the stallion, choosing to ignore the sopping wet mane that now draped clumsily across her neck and intertwined itself around her left hoof.

"The most I can recall is from the time when my two-legger located me, he raised me but I was already an adult and I have clouded memories of roaming hte mountains as a young one." She gave a shrug and offered a wry and somewhat uncomfortable smile, "I apologise for the lack of information but that can occur when you knock yourself out for a while."

.acajou.
Acajou was glad that she had accepted the subject change, but was still curious about her behaviour. Had she really been teasing him? He shook his head again, trying to ignore it. It's not like it matters...maybe she'll play a game with me if I'm polite. He thought, grinning at her.

"Two...legger? Raised you?" He said, confused. Didn't she have soquili parents? "Well, I've never heard of a two legger raising a soquili, but it must have been just the same as having soquili parents." He said, wondering what it must have been like. Interesting, no doubt.

.yei, tally, micah.

.yei umeko.
One, two, three... The fiery red mare continued to watch as the fish swam passed her hooves, her azure eyes fixated on their glimmering and almost metallic scales. She had been here for a while and after a considerable amount of time she had also been joined by the sleeping kitten Aegis (who appeared to be some form of lion, she wasn't sure) and her two-legger.

Needless to say, Aegis was relatively quiet and Achak seemed perfectly content to hunt for more herbs but she couldn't help but feel mildly disgruntled as she had nothing to do - everything was just so boring as of late and with Cloud off with his new found friend she had nobody to annoy or entertain.

    Sigh.

Well, maybe someone would come along eventually...or at least that's what she assumed as she continued to watch the fish within the lake.

.tally.
Tally was slowly walking down the side of the river ever so often looking into it and watching the fish trying to swim up stream,Tally then took a glance up at the clear blue sky as she saw two egals flying side by side this put a small smile onto Tally's face she let out a sigh then continued on her whay down the river but then she stoped to take a cool drink.

Water Lily Tally's Indain was at her Teepee cleaning TalĂ˝'s stuff as well as playing with Teepo the small cute fluffy dog''boy i am boared..there is nothing to do here''she sighed and continued cleaning Tally's things.

.yei umeko.
She heard the hoof steps, they were slow and often muffled by the drizzling water of the rivers nearby but they were there...Releasing a small whicker of curiosity, the fiery red mare soon pulled herself from the lake and shook off her mane slightly before giving a snort, the sound was enough to wake up the tiny feline beside her to say the least.

"Come on Aegis," She whickered delicately as she began to move through the grass towards the sound of the hoof beats and the potential new friend as she didn't recognise the stride. Her feline companion simply gave a small mew and began to struggle through the long grass as best as she could.

.tally.
Tally brought her head up from the water her muzzle dripping abit she looked around''hm''to see if there was anyone near her,Tally then stood as still as she could and listend she heard some hooves beating softly onto the ground. She gave a soft nicker and waited to see what and who it was that was coming.

.yei umeko.
And there it was...She smiled warmly as she came to a halt and her petite kitten smacked rather unceremoniously into her hind leg. She heard the nicker and it had confirmed her suspicions to the extent that she replied with a soft whinny of her own before nudging her kitten forward somewhat. This action enabled her to cut through the grass for herself and her companion at the same time as she continued to search for the one who had called out to her.

"Ho there!" She chirped, her ears perked somewhat as she waited for a reply, azure eyes swivelling from left to right until at last she caught sight of the painted mare, "Hello!"

.tally.
Tally then saw a Firey red mare come out of the long grass Tally smiled sweetly at the mare and the little kitten''hi''she bowed abit then looked back to the mare''how are you this day..oh my Name is Tally and who mite you be may i ask'''Tally pawed at the ground abit her tail swishing back and forth

.yei umeko.
"Oh, they call me Yei Umeko but most simply call me Yei." The mare responded before giving a nod and nudging the little snow leopard out from beneath the grass, the small feline looked somewhat startled at this, "And this is Aegis." She added before flashing a feline smile and admiring the natural yet pretty colours the female possessed.

"I'm quite well though, thank you for asking, and yourself?" She enquired at last as her ears swivelled round to show she had her attention on the young mare.

.tally.
Tally smiled''oh me well i am good it's a lovely day..the sun is out what could be better''Tally let out a small giggle''But i do like the rain..tough..''she sighed but she still had that smile on her face''oh well its lovely to meet you Yei and Aegis''she smiled down at the little kitten but looked back up at Yei

.yei umeko.
Aegis mewed appreciatively at the smile despite her timid nature and turned her gaze to look up between the two mares, both were unusually tall in comparison to her and yet neither seemed to provide any form of thread so she felt at complete ease with both...it was a rather nice feeling to say the least.

"I tend to enjoy the wamrth due to living on the mountains, when it rains it tends to get a lot more cold and much less comfortable." Yei explained with a wry smile and gave a brief whip of her tail to remove the flies from her hindquarter, "Although down here the rain seems to be very refreshing - do you hail from here?"

.micah.
Micah's legs were strong and sturdy. He had had a good nights sleep, and in doing so, had given his body refreshment and peace. He snorted, shaking his head, then stood tall, and proud. He had gotten over Chal. She had broken his heart, now he would find someone new. Someone who really cared. His eyes landed on a few horses, and he smiled.

    Finally Someone to talk to!

    He approached them.

.tally.
Tally smiled at yei then she heard some one coming near''huh..''she turnd her atention to a male and blinked then she looked back to Yei''do you know who he is..cus i have never seen him befor..ever''she blinked and tilted her head smaking some flys with her tail

.yei umeko.
Yei looked remotely confused at the question and initially assumed it was Cloud before she turned round to admire the approaching male - her assumptions were wrong as he wasn't Cloud and she hadn't the slightest inclination as to who he was...she had been away from the Clearings for far too long it seemed.

"I can't say I do." She murmured in response to Tally before flashing a smile towards the approaching male, he seemed somewhat boisterous but that could have been due to him having a good nights rest.

    "Hello!" She called.

.micah.
Startled that he hadnt had to speak first, he hesitated slightly, then went towards them again. When he got closer, he realized they were both mares. He bowed his head in a greeting, then smiled.
"Hello there. Nice day is it not?"

.tally.
Tally smiled at him''ya its a beautiful day''she giggled Tally usally ackted like this''oh Hi my name is Tally''she bowed her head smiling her tail swishing around waking the dang flys

.yei umeko.
"And I'm Yei," The red mare gave a bow of her head and offered a small smile, somewhat bemused by his hesitant nature. Now initially he had seemed boisterous but now he almost seemed uncomfortable and she could only assume that it was due to both being female - was this an opportunity to tease or should it be left alone?

She contemplated this briefly as she continued to observe him, purshing her equine lips at the manner in which he carried himself which despite his hesitance, appeared to be in a noble manner, "It's a pleasure to meet you...and you are?"

.micah.
"My name is Micah. And nice to meet both of you. Its not so often I get to meet fine mares such as yourself." He shook his head, and his dark mane flew about him. Looking at both of the mares, he smiled his most charming smile. Eyeing them both, he blinked.. Yei seemed to be trying to decided in her mind. Maybe he was being..Rude. He stood straight and spoke

"Forgive me if you fin dme rude."

.tally.
Tally smiled sweetly at him''aw Shuks thank's hehe''Tally giggled and took a glance around the medow''hm..''Tally turnd to them both and sighed''it was great talking to you guys but my Indain is probley woundering where i am so bye''Tally cantered off

.yei umeko.
"Oh, take care Tally!" Yei called as the mare disappeared across the meadow, the fiery mare had to admit that even in the brief time she had met her she seemed to be like a pleasant young mare, "And you aren't rude..." She finally turned her attention back towards Micah and offered a warm smile, one of her ears swivelling towards him while the other seemed to droop to the side in a donkey like fashion.

"I apologise I was simply contemplating a few things, you gave off an air of melancholy and a mare can't help but be curious now and again." She explained, perking both ears again before allowing her left one to droop once more in the same peculiar fashion as before.

"I can't say I've seen you before, you hail from another area?"

.micah.
    "Nice meeting you Tally"
He said. He looked back at Yei, his eyes staring at her. She used alot of big words. He wasnt sure what all of them meant, and he was considered intellectual. He decided to play it off, and change the subject to where he had hailed from.

"Yeah, I came from the forest. Its like a hidden area..But I left. My previous mare left me to die, and it wasnt somewrhere I could stay."

.yei umeko.
"Left you to die...?" Yei seemed remotely disturbed by this information and briefly thought back to all the couples she had met before, as far as she was aware none of them were inclined to be so cruel to the one they were closest to even if they weren't always appreciative of another's company.

"I'm very sorry to here that." She murmured at last and offered a soft whicker of apology, this wasn't exactly a conversation topic that she was used to, "Were you with her long?" She enquired softly as though she deemed the continuation of the topic to be safe, as if she thought he would stop when he was uncomfortable.

.micah.
He nodded. "Since we were foals..But dont worry. I have gotten over it. You see, I am one to hold grudges, but... I dont know, I guess I just dont care anymore..But lets talk about you shall we? Are you new here?" He asked changing the subject since she looked uncomfortable.

.yei umeko.
"New?" She released a warm laugh and shook her head at his question as though she found it particularly amusing, she knew she had been away but she was unaware that she had been away for quite so long, "Goodness no, I've been around for quite some time!" She chirped merrily before allowing her ear to droop once more, the peculiar expression once again apparent on her face.

"I just happened to disappear into the mountains for a little while, I needed some time to think and recollect on my thoughts - I live up there which might explain why you rarely see me?" She offered curiously.

.micah.
Micah listened intently. She was an interesting mare. He tossed back his mane, his ears twitching and his tail hitting the flies that beat down on him. He cocked his head, eyeing her.

"Ooh. Yeah. I live in the forest. I see lots of Soquili..But you'd be amazed at how many new-comers there are..I mean..Some I never see just appear over night."

He said, trying to carry a conversation with a mare who seemed a bit more intelligent than he.

.yei umeko.
Yei released a small chuckle at his observation, it was often an occurance that had confused her when she had first descended the mountains in the company of her two-legger. She too had been surprised by how suddenly new faces would appear but over the months she had become accustomed to it and had come to enjoy meeting a new face each day.

"I used to be the same," She confessed as her drooping ear twitched lightly in response to a fly, "But after a while I got used to it, it's nice meeting new Soquili and the forest and meadows are such a nice place to see it happen." She murmured softly before flashing a warm smile.

"In fact, it's where you tend to find the most Soquili as well, the mountain Soquili are very hard to find in their native land but it never ceases to amaze me when I find so many socialising down here...you know?"

.micah.
    Micah nodded, smiling.

"I dont see how you do it. I couldnt live in the mountains.. After awhile of living up there, heck, I start to call myself a mountain goat. But, as it is, if I didnt like meeting new faces, I wouldnt have met you. Isnt that right?"
    He asked smiling

.yei umeko.
For all the bad things that seemed to happen to this Soquili, he still managed to maintain a positive outlook on certain aspects of life and for that reason she was suitably impressed by him, granted she probably wasn't much older than him but it was still rare to meet a soquili who took such a stance despite what they had been through, or rather, what he'd been through.

"Exactly." She agreed as a twinkle developed in her azure eyes and she gave a slight whicker of appreciation, "And living in the mountains is easy, well, it isn't to begin with but eventually you grow used to it." She mused and gave another of her whickers as her ear began to twitch slightly through agrivation at a fly near the tip.

"In fact, it's one of the most beautiful and romantic locations to go." She continued, her gaze softening as she turned her eyes towards the looming mountains, "You can see so far away, you can see every ounce of beauty from a distance and there are always some secrets hidden in the mountains...secrets you couldn't hide anywhere else!" She whispered breathlessly.

.yei, nicole.

.yei umeko.
Yei gave a soft whicker a she surveyed the lands that lay beneath the mountain slope. Now that the seasons were drawing on her fiery red coat had become thicker to account for the coolness of the air upon the slopes but this was not to say it would be comfortable when she went down below where it was still reasonably warm...in fact the issue of being to warm when she descended was the reason that she hadn't yet taken measures to make her way down.

"Go on then." She murmured to herself as she at last persuaded her hooves to move forward and down towards the Clearings where so many of the Soquili enjoyed socialising, "If you get too warm you can always find higher ground." She reassured her own mind as she continued onwards...it would be nice to see other Soquili again, she had been away for some time.

.nicole.
Nicole was laying by a tree enjoying the shade from this heat, she didn't much enjoy wondering into the sun, her gold swirls on her leg and under eye shone greaty in the sun, and she could not see very well at that. Gazing over some of the land she saw not so many soquili's but a few at that, one was upon the slop a very pretty red.

Watching the mare make it's way down the slop, she smiled and went back to gazing over the lands, watching a few squirls and bunnies run along the lands from bush to bush, escaping the sun, who could blame them it was horribly hot, even for her white coat.

.yei umeko.
Heat, by the gods she was overwhelmed in heat and for a brief moment she faltered to catch her breath, stunned by the lack of cool air which she had grown accustomed to from living at such a height. Nevertheless, after a few moments (in which she took the time to escape to the shade of a tree), she did catch sight of the pale male and arched an equine brow.

It wasn't that she wanted to be mean or rude but the mare had markings that glittered in the sun and they were incredibly intriguing, afterall, she had to use jewellery to make herself twinkle like that.

...Did she come from the stars?

"Hello there, " She offered at last as she placed a kind smile on her lips, "Rather warm day, is it not?"

.nicole.
Nicole, was tired and it was still horribly hot, she wondered when it would cool down maybe later when the sun was half down, she lifted her head up when she heard a noise, looking over she noticed it was the red, mare she saw earlier.

Lovely coloring the mare head, Nicole fancied red, and lots of other colors. Standing up she smiled.

"Hello" she paused "I agree rather hot."

.yei umeko.
"Hot for this season anyway..." Yei gave a chuckle as she became accustomed to the slight decrease in heat within the shade, it wasn't enough to make her completely comfortable but it would do for now and at least she had found some company to take her mind off things in the mean time anyway.

"I couldn't help but notice you have such unusual colouring." She observed at last and motioned to the gold markings upon the mares legs, "They're quite impressive, I can only achieve such an effect with jewellery on!" She chirped merrily and canted her head to the side, "I simply had to say that...it is turly magnificent, I'm sure your mate appreciates it."

.nicole.
"I guess it is" she smiled, still hot Nicole was glad she had company.

"Oh thank you" Nicole replyed slightly suprised that was the first complament about her coloring that she got. "I have a sister with the same colorin except for the part where she is pink haired."Why I love your coloring to though" she smiled Maybe, he does" She smiled, she really hoped Moki liked the way she looked.

.yei umeko.
So she was right, the lovely mare did have a mate and she was glad to see that the males of this land actually had some taste and an eye for what was the most beautiful. She didn't have wings and yet her magnificent colouring was enough to place any wind, alicorn or kalona in their place which was something that made this mare particularly proud.

"I guarantee that he does, that and your lovely personality." Yei cooed as she flicked the long forelock from her eyes and observed the young mare once more, "After all, you're very polite and approachable, both are desirable qualities you know." She pointed out again before releasing a chuckle and canting her head to the side as she backtracked to the compliment she had received herself.

"I enjoy the colour of my coat too," Yei agreed with a small smile as she glanced down briefly at her red coat and the orange swirls within it, "The Spirits did a wonderful job." She added before flashing a smile once more, "But it doesn't glitter like yours, does it?"

The sun was shining ever so brightly today and the heat that came from it was no less than tiring to bear. Thelerian snorted and pawed the ground. "Why...does it have to be this hot?" the painted stallion said with another toss of his mane and a stomp of his hind foot.

"Because there's a dry spell about," replied his companion as he circled the air above. " Not that you'd noticed I bet," Elan said throwing his friend a sly look. " You and Hotaru had be pretty oblivious to everything lately,"

"Don't start...," Thelerian replied glaring at the avian. "I can't be bothered to chase you today,"

.yei umeko.
Heat was not the word for it. There were no words to express how warm the mare was at this precise moment in time given the thickeness of her coat. Having been upon the mountain slopes for an extended period of timeher coat had once again adjusted itself to the cool night air and icy winds that often brushed against the bare surfaces.

Still, pushing these thoughts of discomfort to the side the fiery mare continued to navigate her way through the shade provided by the trees and towards the Clearing, it was only after a short while that she heard a pair of voices that had been absent from her life for quite a while.

"Well, well!" She chirped merrily, her mood brightening considerably as she broke into a trot and moved towards the voices, making sure to crack a few brances along the way to alert them to her presence.

"Now where have you two been?" She yelled.

.yei, fledge, aruna, inali.

.fledge.
It's a peaceful morning near the ocean; the cry of seagulls is only punctuated by the rhythmic slush of the waves against the sandy beach and the quiet murmur of the wind.

Something small and furry, however, is about to change that. The form of a small, furiously flapping winged soquili darts above the waves, then loses it's balance entirely and trips in midair, tumbling head over heels toward the beach.

He crash-lands into some braken that had washed up along the shore. He had enough sense to pull in his wings at the last second so they aren't broken; as he gets to his feet, he gingerly moves them to and fro, wincing as pain throbs up and down his body. But he's only bruised and battered, nothing more...as he tests each limb in turn, he finds that each of them are accounted for and in working order.

Alright, he won't do that anymore for awhile. Flying is all well and good, but he's unable to do more of the fancy flying he'd like to learn, and that's the second time today that he's crash-landed. He's not really up for trying a third time.

Feeling that it's best he keeps his hooves on solid land for awhile, the foal's ears perk up and he expectantly looks around. Nothing is familiar, but he rarely stays in one place too long, so that's not unusual. Well, now, he'll have to figure out where to go from here.

.inali.
Hesitantly, Inali made her way down to the ocean. After previous experiences of acting like a filly in joy of the waves, the sun, and the sand, and being caught at it, she knew better now then to go about so freely. The coast looked clear, but she permitted herself only a short gallop.

But what a gallop it was! The sea wind caught her silver mane and tail, flaring them out, while the sun reflected both off and into her hide, making her feel exactly the right temperature. Though she sometimes slipped on the sand, and got it in her hooves, it felt so much better than hard, rocky ground.

Slowing down to a loping canter, Inali's eye caught some bracken that looked like potential lunch. Mmm... was it? Going closer, her eyes spotted a small figure, looking rather dazed.

On closer inspection, the figure resolved himself into a small wind foal, looking confused but rather happy. Was he lost? Waiting for something? Though she did not have many motherly instincts, being a single mare without any foals herself, Inali went forward.

"Foal... You there! Are you lost?"

.aruna.
She was once again out on her own. She found herself at the beach once a more, a place she mentally noted to frequent more often. It was beautiful there. Upon first step on the sandy ground, she spotted two new Soquili.

A pretty red mare, and a younger foal... colt, and one with wings, like her. Eyes widening in joy and surprise, she quickly made her way over, before tripping hoof over hoof with a slight splat on the sand. Shaking her head, she spat out the sand she had tasted (salty! What the...?) and moved more slowly.

"Hello!" she called cheerfully, happy to be able to make friends on her own. Aruna trusted her on her own now, but she was still worried about meeting someone bad. Mocha grinned at the two brightly.

.yei umeko.
Yei had never frequented the beach, in fact it was a location she had never once explored and as she descended the slopes and navigated her way throughthe forest she had expected it to be incredibly hot - instead, she was astonished to discover that a cool sea breeze brushed against her flowing mane and loving carressed her fiery red coat...it truly was much more comfortable than the Clearing.

"Well..." She smiled warmly at the feeling and after a few moments of taking in the new sights and sounds she flicked her gaze towards the bustle of activity towards her right where quite a few Soquili had gathered, three to be precise with one being a colt.

"Life!" She chirped merrily as she examined the three before walking briskly towards them, her right ear perked while her left ear drooped in a donkey-like and lazy fashion.

    "Ho-there!"

.fledge.
The colt started, twirling around in surprise, his ears immediately snapping back. But they come forward again, almost equally quickly, as he spots a mare loping toward him. He hadn't seen anyone in the last few days...five days ago, he had seen some soquili from high above, but he hadn't gone to say hi. They had all been adults, anyway. The muddy and rather scruffy colt rubs his head on a forefoot, not really caring about his battered appearance as he watches Inali come forward.

"Course not," he says bracingly, at the question. "Are you?" He doesn't quite know where he is, but it's Someplace, and that's where he wants to be, at the moment. But his attention is caught by the arrival of another...or, more specifically, by her tripping over her own hooves. Fledge blinks, swinging his head around to peer at Mocha, then back at Inali. Are they together...? Did he run into a herd, or something? "Uh. Hi."

He jumps again as someone else calls out, and his worst fears are confirmed; it's another mare. He must've stumbled onto a wild band. Trying not to act as if he had just started again, he sticks out his jaw, resting one hindhoof casually and acting generally aloof, watching Yei come closr. She looks a bit funny, with a lopsided ear...he'd never seen that before.

.inali.
Inali laughed at the little foal, curiousity in her figure. Oh, he was kind of cute- so confident that he wasn't lost! Meanwhile, another foal had come up. Am I a babysitter, she wondered passively, not really too annoyed. Foals, at least, were not full of the snappishness of adult stallions. And this little girl was rather cute, in a clumsy way.

"Hello all. I am Inali." Another red mare had come- though her coat was a different shade from Inali's. "It looks as though we have a right gathering going on here." So many soquili already!

"I'm not lost. I think. I've been here before. It's only a little way from the forest. I think." Feeling pensive, Inali pondered. Was she lost? Was anyone really found?

Suddenly, she felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of her kind here, and strangely overshadowed by all of them. It was rare for her confidence to be down, and it was a feeling she did not like at all.

.nicole.
Nicole was wondering the lands of soquili, untill she came upon the beach, the beach which she seemed to be sinking in from the wet sand, nobody was in sight. Pawing the ground Nicole felt like running, she trotted a little, went into a canter, and then a full gallop down the beach. Hooves pounding on the sand, head pointed out. she was working a sweat.

In the distance a little way she spotted a group of people, curious she galloped into the water and cooled off. Walking towards the group cautiously.

.mocha.
Mocha eyed the colt with a giggle, and then shied a bit at the other mares who felt intimidating. Edging closer to the colt, but not so close that they both felt uncomfortable, she questioned all. "Hi! I'm Mocha. Who are you?" she directed the question for all three.

Her curiosity was more focused upon the rich colored coated colt. She had never met a male Soquili her age before, though she had managed to meet T'Cora and Water, two fillies whom she hoped to meet again one day. The meeting had been brief, but a good one.

She turned to sniff at the ocean air, and smiled to herself. It felt nice here. When the first red-silver mare introduced herself, Mocha grinned up at her. "Hi, Inali!" She blinked as she noticed more Soquili enter the area. More Soquili? Suddenly, she felt more shy than ever before. She wished Aruna were here.

.yei umeko.
Yei had never encountered so many soquili at once and yet as each introduced themselves she was becoming more and more aware of their initial personalities. The young colt seemed suitably brave and a little proud while Inali came off as lacking in a little self confidence when it came to large crowds - the young filly however, simply appeared to be shy.

Nevertheless, flicking her gaze towards Nicole as she approached, the red mare gave a whicker of appreciation and allowed her flopped ear to twitch briefly to chase away a fly.

"I am Yei Umeko, but most call me Yei." She replied at last and offered a delicate smile, "It's a pleasure to meet you all."

.fledge.
"I'm Fledge," The colt inserts into the conversation, tail swishing, apparantly unaware of Inali's sudden unease.

"So, you ain't a band?" He perks up, curiously eyeing Inali as she speaks. "On'y, I ain't met so many soquili in one place at a time before, except those that're in a herd." He seems to feel the need to justify himself, his muzzle turning into a little half-frown as he notices Nicole, too, moving their way. The arrival of so many adults makes him a little worried...but they're all mares, there's not a stallion in sight. He glances towards Mocha, a little more at ease with her. At least she's the same age, and other children made much more sense to him.

"Huh. Inali, Mocha, Yei," he repeats, wrinkling his nose and memorizing names and faces. He's good with those.

.mocha.
Inali fell quiet, and seemed to drift off. Mocha noticed that Fledge was surrounded by all females, but she figured he'd be all right. She smiled at him, and then walked into the ocean water. (Cold!)

She sighed as she glanced over to Fledge, and then, a wicked grin. She splashed him, giggling madly. "Would you like to play?" She eyed the mares, resigning to the fact that adults just didn't like to play... unless one could convince them.

She smiled, a wicked gleam in her eye. Oh, yes.

.yei umeko.
"That depends, what is it that you want to play?" The fiery mare enquired curiously, canting her head to the side as she observed the two foals and the now quiet mares in her company - she had never been one to give in to a challenge so why should she let the foals get the better of her? And besides, she rather enjoyed games, especially when she was getting to know a young one or a new area.

That in mind, she continued to focus on Mocha, curious as to what the tiny wind soquili would come up with. If it happened to be hide and seek, she would never win, as she just knew the pair would hide in the trees or something of equal difficulty for her to reach.

.fledge.
Inali falls quiet, and so the strawberry roan foal's attentions turn back toward the other three.

His ears flick forward at Mocha's suggestion, and he considers it thoroughly. On the one hand, 'playing' would mean he'd have to act as a kid in front of adults...something he's been loathe to do his entire life.

But on the other, playing sounds like fun at this point. You can see the emotions struggling across the colt's face, but fun, as it normally does, wins out. "Yeah...but Mocha's it first!" He yelled with a fiendish grin, splashing past both females and pluging deeper into the ocean, and kicking up a fine spray of water. It's pretty clear that he wants to play tag - possibly the only game he knows how to play, unless you count Make Believe.

.aruna.
Mocha giggled as she was splashed, and then she chased after him. "Tag is the game!" she called back to the other mares, and then proceeded to chase after Fledge. Tag, Hide-and-Go-Seek, and a few other games, were all she knew in her young life. She'd rather play then go through all the worries that adults knew.

    At least for now.

She grinned at Fledge as he made his getaway. He was better at flying than she was, but that didn't mean she couldn't get him.

.yei umeko.
At the mention of tag her other ear flopped as well and she couldn't help but raise an equine brow - well, she knew how to play tag but she couldn't help but feel that it was rather unfair of her to play when her strides were considerably longer than the young foals. Still, she decided that she would allow the pair to play between themselves and should they decide to chase after her then she would give them a run for their berries!

That now confirmed she settled herself on the sands, both ears flopped as she continued to watch the two carefully. She couldn't help but feel that despite their boisterous nature, if that ocean decided to suck them in then they were going to have problems...thus, it was a good idea to watch them.

.fledge.
The only problem with playing tag in the ocean is that it is inevitably slow. It's difficult to get through water, particularly moving water, and Fledge founders as he splashes along. It would probably make more sense to fly, but now he's far too deep in to take off. He pauses, panting, to glance back over his shoulder, to see how much of a lead he has. It's a mistake; she's right behind him. Fledge squeals, and immediately trips and goes underneath the water.

He doesn't notice that Yei's still on the beach, watching rather than playing...if he had, he probably would have stopped in order to take offense. Having a babysitter is definately not considered cool.

.mocha.
Mocha grinned as she came up right behind Fledge. The water made her wings heavy but she felt fine. However, when Fledge jerked away so that he wasn't tagged, she gasped when she saw him go underwater.

"Fledge!" she called, flailing slightly. What could she do? Yei was still on the beach, watching them, rather than playing, and now Fledge was under the ocean water! "Fledge, where are you?" Although rhetorical, Mocha eyed the waters around her carefully.

She hoped he was all right! Last time she tried to breathe underwater, it hadn't been pretty. Thankfully, Aruna had been there, but now she could swim by herself. She hated the idea of a babysitter, but they came in useful. Sometimes.

Like right now. "Yei! Fledge went underwater!" she called to the fiery colored mare in desperation. Her new friend was in trouble!

.yei umeko.
Yei has caught the submersion from the beach and with a small snort had already tossed the hair from her eyes and was already on her way towards the water - however, unlike the pair of foals she didn't need to wade and instead she literally plunged into the water and, to speed up the process began to leap through the water as opposed to wading.

In fact, she only began to wade as she came near the pair and examined the water briefly, extending her right foreleg out to brush it against the sand and gravel beneath her. Hopefully, she would find that she touched something slightly more solid.

"Perhaps in future you should not go too deep hm?" She smiled teasingly as she nudged something slightly softer than the sands and held her foreleg in place, just in case it was all the submerged foal required to pull himself up again - if he didn't pull himself up soon though she may find she would have to go under herself and the salty water was not good for her coat!

.fledge.
The currents tug at the foal's body, pulling him down underneath the water and not letting go. For one wild moment, he doesn't know which way is up, and he panics, thrashing out instinctively. This, unfortunately, only tugs him deeper down. His eyes are tightly shut to not let in the water, and so he can't even see. Something brushes against his hindquarters, and he thrashes out again, thinking horridly of sharks and whales and deep sea creatures.

But the thing felt very much like wet horse, and his senses return: it must be either Mocha or Yei. The recognition relieves him, and gives him enough sense to calm down and, a moment, later, his head bursts up above the ocean.

He sucks in air in huge, rattling gasps, coughing and hacking as he lets the waves carry him further inland, so that his limbs can get underneath him, although they don't really feel like they're up to carrying his weight. Thoroughly wet, and thoroughly disgruntled, Fledge stands in the shallows, looking more like a skinny, overly-large water rat than a foal.

.mocha.
Mocha allowed the waves to carry her inland before she found ground for which her hooves could carry her. Tired and worried, she splashed towards Fledge. "Fledge, are you all right?" she asked, concerned. She felt waterlogged suddenly, and grinned at Yei sheepishly.

"Maybe we shouldn't have gone in so far..." she nuzzled Fledge, hoping that would help him to feel better. "You're all right, right?" she asked again. She felt ashamed that she couldn't have helped her friend. "I'm sorry, Fledge... this is all my fault for wanting to play." Guilt-wracked, her ears drooped sadly.

.yei umeko.
"It's no one's fault, just a simple accident that even I could have made!" She gave a small smile as she followed the pair into the shallows and gave a rather unceremonious shake to remove most of the droplets from her mane and tail, having done that she soon reverted to the single drooped ear and continued to watch the pair for a few moments, racking her mind for some type of activity that would let them play but wouldn't risk them going back in too deep.

"How about we have a treasure hunt?" She enquired curiously as she glanced at the now disgruntled colt and guilty filly, "I'll give you a clue and you have to find the place or thing I'm talking about, when you do I'll reappear and give you another clue until you find the prize at the end!"

.continued here.

.rise of the skin-walkers.

Within the lands of the Kawani Village a great evil stirrs, Soquili return with brutal and unrecognisable injuries while foul and strangely familiar sounds echo in the night. Coyotes run rife and appear more numerous in number as the darkness and fear envelope the village and surrounding area.

It is up to the Soquili and their two-legged companions to find out who the culprit is. It is up to them to stop it...

.the emperor appears.

Why had she agreed to this? With every step she took into the Mists of the mountain she couldn't help but give a slight shiver. The droplets restin upon her coat were so chilled and the atmosphere so dark and forboding that she was already rather paranoid that the Spirits were already aware of her arrival and were plotting something rather unwelcome - something similar to the time when they pushed her off that ledge, that was when she had met Achak.

Still, as she gave a snort she struggled her way through the mists, unable to see very far in front of her with the obssession with the daunting and rather threatening shapes of the trunks of many tress, many trees which appeared to be barren and lacking in very much foliage. How was it that she had lived up here in the past? She just couldn't see how, maybe she lived on the flats above?

She had to admit though, she still found the steep ascent reasonably easy but she wished she had taken the opportunity to find the mountainpath as opposed to wandering through the forests for fear that the Spirits truly would toy with her due to the fact that some spirit of great evil had performed those acts of brutally on the two-legger village.

...What if that beast lived here?

Her paranoia began to grow and her azure eyes shifted back and forth almost certain that she was being followed by something or someone. Almost certain that it was the spirits and at this point she only wished they would paint on her coat as opposed to doing anything mean.

"I would not go that way." The voice whispered nearby her, so close that she could almost feel the hot breast of the beast that her spoken to her and she immediately shyed, smacking her shoulder unceremoniously against a tree, "I did try to warn you." The voice continued before a soft chuckle rippled through the mists and she turned her head in the direction of the voice.

What she saw, made her tremble with fear.

As her eyes adjsted she saw not a normal beast but instead a looming figure with spikes protruding from the head and shoulders as though he was one from hell or quite possibly a beast spawned by the desolate and barren trees themselves, a way to express their loneliness and bitterness at their own condition.

Nevertheless, despite her fear the creature drew nearer and the looming figure in the mists became larger and larger, in comparison to her he must have been a good two hands higher until at last...

"Surely I do not look that appalling." His head drew closer to the point that he was almost touching her nose and she was not met with a beast but rather, with a rather matured Stallion who had no strange growths but was instead covered in rather ornate clothing and a strange horned head piece.

"I - I..." Yei was at a loss for words for once in her life as all the terror flooded from her being as she simply stared at the stallion who may very well have saved her life as she heard the tumble of rocks further ahead.

"They call me Paramekia, and you are?" He didn't appear to be one who was easily swayed by discomfort and almost seemed to make it his duty to make a being feel relaxed in his company despite that strange and rather cold glint in his lilac eyes.

"Yei, Yei Umeko." Yei took a shot at recovering her composure and straightened somewhat so that she could at least face him head on. If anything this was the last time she trekked up the mountain without using the rock paths but - "I never knew there were other Soquili in the mists!" She murmured at last as he flashed a cold smirk.

"There are not." He responded in a simply fashion as he lifted his head and held himself in a rather dignified manner, his gaze fixed solely on the mare now before him, "We simply travel through on our way to greater things..." He explained more fully before shifting his gaze back the way she had come, "But perhaps now is not the place to talk, the way is dangerous and a storm appears to be brewing. I trust you have somewhere more comfortable or at least sheltered to stay during such occasions?"

"Oh - OH!" Her eyes widened at the mention of a storm and for the briefest instance she was overwhelmed with a sense of forboding, hadn't that been when the spirits had pushed her off the cliff? Unaware of the expectant glint in the stallions eyes she seemed more concerned with her own safety and gave a small nod, "Yes, yes I do...It's half-way down the slope." She added as she turned carefully and begn to navigate her way back.

"Most excellent, I thank you for your hospitality." Paramekia responded as he followed after the mare, his hoofsteps surprisingly soft despite the weight of his clothes.

"You're welcome." Yei responded pausing only brifely in surprise as this was the first time any mare had invited themselves to her teepee as opposed to waiting to be invited, "I have to ask though -"

"Yes?"

"Were you following me the whole time?" She enquired.

"Would you rather I had left you to explore despite the approaching storm and the rockfalls?" Came the response to which she had no reply, she supposed if she looked at it that way, she owed him her life.

She would soon find out that wasn't necessarily a good thing...

.yei, idris.

.idris.
The lazy brown eyes opened, the red brown pelt shivvered & black strands of mane flew from side to side as the stallion stood & shook himself out, stretching to take in the warmth the air usually had when he chose to get up.

"Mmmyes frightfully wonderful morning as always!"
The stallion decreed as pulled himself up to his full height, giving a refined little snort as he primped & preened himself to make himself presentable for the outside world. He looked now his nose at a bur caught in his mane & took it between his teeth, tugging it free delicately & dropping it in an airy fashion before giving himself another little shake to get his mane just the way he liked it.

Raising his head high & exiting the shade of the lush old oak her had retreated under for the night, he strode boldly & proudly out onto the plains to get himself something to nibble on.

"One is rather peckish...clearly some nosh is in order...& prehaps something to wet my whistle! Mmmyes! Terrific idea!"
He thought aloud to himself, taking up a brisk, bouncing trot as he chuckled to himself.

.yei umeko.
Yei was terribly bored this afternoon, having woken up from her sleep that had lasted most of the day she was now so pert that she had a suspicion she would end up being awake for most of the night. It was't exactly a problem but there were very few Soquili to socialise with at night and for that reason she would really need to adjust her sleeping patterns to work for her.

Nevertheless, pushing the thoughts of boredem to the back of her mind she at last accepted her tummy's pleas and rose to her feet, shaking the loose strands of grass from her long mane and proceeding towards the lake where she could find both food and drink with sufficient ease - she could even bathe if she so desired it.

Still, she also had ulterior motives for going, every time she went she always encountered someone new and being the social butterfly that she was, she loved it. Such thoughts were in fact one of the only reasons she had accepted her tummy's pleas and instead of searching for food, her eyes were peeled for Soquili and company!

.idris.
Idris wasnt the fastest thing on four legs, but what speed he had served him a bouncing trot to the lake for a bath & some of the nicer "nibbly things" the landscape had to offer. His fairly lithe frame was enough to keep him from sinking so far into the sand & pebbles at the water's edge that his feathers were dirted. Whites were a terror to wash & keep clean....

He dipped his head in a graceful, over exaggerated arch that was almost typical of stage play even though he had no audience & took in a few mouthfuls of the crisp, clean water, standing forward just a little so as not to get his "tootsies" wet & not leaning down at such an angle as to get his mane soggy. Idris raises his head & gave it a shake, & smiling inwardly.

    "Delectable stuff that.."

.yei umeko.
You see the thing was, Idris did have an audience and a rather curious one at that. This was because, instead of approaching him the mare had instead taken to simply watching the antics of the stallion by the lakeside with an unsatiated curiosity - his mannerism were something that she had never encountered before, he seemed a bit like a pansy.

...Would this stallion actually be relatively sociable instead of tall, dark and brooding perchance?

Raising a brow at her own thoughts she soon began to navigate her way down the grassy slope and very quietly walked across the expanse towards the rather richly coloured stallion, her azure gaze fixed upon him in an inquisitive fashion.

"Hello there." She murmured eventually as she drew within ear shot and was only a few feet away.

.idris.
    "GOODNESS GRACIOUS!"
Idris emitted a squeak & sidestepped into the water before whirling to face the owner of the voice that had seemingly addressed him out of nowhere, having thought he was alone & unobserved. A mare? Thank goodness. Just a mare. But wait! What if she decided to eat him!! Wait...no...that was a silly notion, however Idris found himself knee deep in water & reasoned that to be the far more pressing of the two situations. He stopped blinking at the rose coloured mare & moved out of the water, pride dented lightly as he shook out his "footsies" delicately.

"One has to apologise most profusely my good mare, for I found myself shrieking in such an infantile manner as would be unbecoming of a grown stallion in the presence of a mare. I am frightfully sorry."
He bowed then, lowering himself down by bending one knee in an over exaggerated fashion before straightening himself.
"A most smashing eve to you all the same however, as one greeting certainly deserves another."

.yei umeko.
She hadn't the slightest idea what he had just said and could only afford to stare at him for a long while as her mind tried to catch up with him. She had always thought 'smashing' something was a bad thing but she did at least gather from his words that he was apologising for 'yelling' at her although...

"You squeal like a girl." She said finally, voicing her thoughts as she allowed her left ear to flop once more in a lazy fashion while her other remained perked, definately a feature she had maintained from her childhood and had never really grown out of it.

"But yes, it's nice to see you...And you are?" She enquired, making the assumption that he was at least saying hello, he did have 'greeting' in his sentence anyway so it was worth a shot, right?

.idris.
He huffed slightly & then reasoned prehaps that he did squeal a tad like a mare, a habit he would very much consider getting himself out of as it would do him no favours whatsoever. Studying the mare as she stared at him & whilst she spoke, he rather got the impression that he had confused her just a little. No...certainly not! There was nothing about him that could confuse anyone! He was just peachy.

"One has noticed a particular leaning towards a girlish "squeal" as you call it...one is trying awfully to get one's self out of such a habit & appreciates your pointing such a thing out."
His melodic tone lightened & carried a slight bounce to it that those with an eccentric nature always do, his head leaning a little to one side.

"But do forgive my whittering on good lady, I am Idris. What would the name of your good self be if it is at all prudent & polite to ask?"

.yei umeko.
    Prudent. Whittering. Idris.

    Huh?

Her right ear flopped down to mimic the left one as she continued to listen to him talk and the most she could do was arch a brow in response. Everything he said seemed to be badly translated after a ten second delay and it was only after registering this 'broken' translation that she would reply, regardless of how odd she seemed to appear.

"They call me Yei Umeko, but most everyone calls me Yei." She responded uncertainly as she lifted and perked her right ear once more as though drooping it was rather uncomfortable.

"Why do you talk like that?"

.idris.
He blinked at her, blinked at her three more times & then emitted a cough.

"'Tis lovely to make your acquaintance......But one assumes you are having a spot of dificult understanding my dialect Miss Yei?"
He enquired after her comment with ears perked forward, not quite understanding how anyone could have a problem with the way he spoke when it was so polite, so becoming, so proper! His pride deflated like a baloon again & a small huff escaped his nose in a defeated manner.

.yei umeko.
"Just a tad." The red female admitted as she offered a wry smile to show she honestly didn't mean to be so troublesom in that regard. She very rarely had a problem with other soquili but this was spoke in such an odd way and his mannerisms only aided in her inability to understand him - one moment he seemed positively delighted about something vague or obscure and then the next he looked as if he had been fly-kicked in the chest.

"I'm sorry, but you talk in a really strange way." She pointed out before releasing a chuckle. The way he allowed the disgruntled snorts to emit from his nostrils like that was incredibly funny to her, he really was a character and terribly unique!

    "What does whittering mean?"

.idris.
"hmmm, prehaps t'would be strange to another....one has never encountered others, & so has been without such an obstacle as this one that you present."
his expression turning to deep thought & curiosity as he speaks, tone taking on an almost clinical edge, serious prehaps. Idris snapped out of his mental debating & looked at Yei instead of into space as he had been when thinking.

"Whittering Miss Yei? Oh! Babbling on meaninglessly..."
The stallion searched for a better word to use in this case, something that would better aid Yei in her understanding of his speech.

    "Chattering on absently without restraint."
He offered a genuine smile, head tilting the other way now & mane shifting ever so slightly. He looked upwards & snorted a puff of warm air at the lock to adjust it. Anywhere but where he liked it proved itchy & a nuisance.

.yei umeko.
Yei gave a coo a she stored the information in her head, although had dictionaries actually existed and Yei possessed the necessary limbs to use them she wouldn't have been seen without one when it came to this stallion, he was certainly going to prove a challenge.

Shaking her head to move the rather extravagant lock of fiery red hair from her eyes she continued to observe him before at last attempting to translate at least one of the words he had used. Perhaps if he discovered she really was making an effort then he wouldn't be offended.

    "And chattering means talking, yes?"

.idris.
Idris's spirits brightened & rather obviously at that given how his posture seemed to bounce upwards to it's full height again, gleeful almost for her understanding however small.

"Yes indeed it is Miss Yei."
The melodic voice almost chiruuped as she spoke & continued to do so, tail swishing from side to side in a manner that could denote absent mindedness or being pleased. Prehaps even both at once.

"A most spiffing deduction on your part I must say-"
He blustered, but tugged himself to a halt with widedned eyes & let the last jumble of words fall out of his mouth, making a sort of "plah" noise.

"forgive me once again, I must make a mite more effort on the part of being more comfortable on the ears."
The mood changed again, this time to flustered as he looked down & to one side, ears flopped slightly & making a "hmm" noise as he sought to rephrase himself.

"What I meant was, a most brilliant conclusion on your part."
Again the ears went upright & the smile replaced the frown & confusion that had sat there only seconds before.

So spiffing meant excellent, she was slowly beginning to come around to his vocabulary and was rather looking forward to the next phrase he used. Perhaps even she could use them in a meeting with other Soquili and she could confuse them too - maybe give rewards of berries to those who did understand her on their first attempts.

"So where did you learn to talk like that then?" She enquired at last. She was completely captivated by him as she had never met a soquili who even remotely talked like him so he must have come from some exotic place and goodness - what if they all talked like that? If she ever went to his homeland she may find herself a little lost.

"Does everyone talk like that?"

Idris' face was lifted once again by a smile, though one more gentle than ecstatic or giddy in it's appearance. The stallion shrugged his shoulders slightly in a rolling fluid motion like a wave on the waters of the lake to his side.

"Both mother & father mine spoke in a fashion much the same, though prehaps theirs was a minte more in it's overbearing nature, harder to understand than even mine most probably were another presented with it. But before I was sundered from both I recall no others speaking in such a manner, though there might possibly have been more."

He srugged again, helplessly but not overly concerned by such helplessness it would appear. He was apparently unconcerned by not knowing things.

"Is is so strange Miss Yei, for one to speak in such elongated manners as mine? As I assume they are such."

"It's not so much that you use elongated words, so much as odd words." She gave awry smile as he explained that he had acquired it from his parents and instead of simply leaving her response at that, she decided it would be best if she elaborated, "What I mean is you use words such as 'spiffing' which I've never heard of before and I've been in these lands a while." She finished as her drooped ear gave a little twitch.

"And what do you mean by sundered, did they abandon you?" She knew it was awfully forward but 'sunder' seemed like such a brutal word and she was a tad worried - perhaps that explained why he acted in such a peculiar manner. Perhaps eccentricity was his way of dealing with something bad that had happened?
