Private RP between Yei Umeko (Para) and Whisper (Meeki), please do not post without invitation.

By invitation only. That was what many popular Soquili upon the Meadows had said to her not long ago when they had spoken of their own secret get-aways. They had their groves, their caves and even their hidden lagoons but she had something that she considered even more special than that; she had her mountains.

In fact, it had been these mountains that she had persuaded many Soquili to climb despite their fear of heights and fear of the mountain lions that roamed the cliff faces. They had all been particularly nervous and had spent most of their time gazing around anxiously until she had finally brought them to her spot and then they would marvel (or at least the mares would).

Now it was Whisper's turn...well it would be provided that he chose to show up and accompany her on her journey across the 'hills'. On careful consideration she had noted that he had walked her home once and that was half way up so why wouldn't he come the whole way up (ignoring the fact he had little in the way of a thick coat for the cool mountain air)?

Whisper stepped back away from the teepee. He still found it to be an interesting thing, despite Yei's comments that her two-legger was unkempt and such. Of course, it wasn't like he had seen many teepees for comparison.

The wind blew and he instinctively shivered. Normally such a thing wouldn't make him jump but he was in a new area and though he didn't want to admit it, it did make him nervous. But he was in the company of a friend and Echo seemed to like the mountains so he decided to.. 'take it like a stallion'.

He looked up, wondering how much further they would have to go to get to the spot Yei wanted. "Well," he started, turning his gaze back to the pretty red mare, "I'm ready when you are." It was an adventure, he reminded himself, one that will stay with him for the rest of his life. With that, he smiled.

Yei would have blushed if she didn't have a red coat, however due to it's colour her blushes were often hidden and as a result, the twinkle in her eye was the only indication that she was even remotely bashful or shy when it came to his smile.

"Right." She murmured, releasing a soft whicker as she slipped into line beside him and began to lead him upwards towards the rocky yet fairly clear mountain pathway which led to only one place, the mists. Granted he would find it hard to see when he entered but it was where she came from and she always found the ghostly shapes of the trees within it to be both eerie and yet fascinating.

"I hope you like spirits?" She enquired mischeviously, the twinkle still in her eye.

Whisper nearly jumped backwards as her question caught him offguard. "Spir...its?", he asked curiously? He had heard of such things before but always figured they were made up to scare the small foals with. Perhaps Yei was just testing him? But then again, perhaps the stories he heard had some truth to them afterall?

"I suppose I'm ready for anything, Yei", he said with more assurance. This was an adventure afterall, wasn't it? "Besides, I have you around to protect me, right?" His eyes twinkled as he teased her. As long as she was around, he could probably handle this unknown place. Without her though, he would be afraid to move for fear of falling off the mountain. What a thought!

The twinkle in her eye became ever more present as he hesitated briefly and a part of her contemplated playing a few tricks on him on the way up, however, after a few moments consideration she calmly pointed out that performing such an act could actually be extremely dangerous due to an inability to see well through the thick fog further up the mountains.

Still, she was silent for a few moments as she continued to observe him and then at last, she gave a small and delicate smile. She had to admit that she wasn't surprised that he had taken a 'braver' stance but the fact that in ways, he wasn't afraid to admit some uncertainty made him all the more appealing...he appeared to be so genuine.

"Of course I'll protect you." She murmured gently as she came towards him once more, nudging his neck very gently with her muzzle in an attempt to make him head up the slope once more, "I doubt your companion would be pleased if something happened to you and well -" She paused briefly and shook her head to move some of her long forelock away from her azure eyes.

"I don't think I would be happy about it either...After all," Clearing her throat she tried to recover the situation as what she had said was what some might describe as forward and he might misinterpret (being male and all that jazz)...

"We've only just met, it would be a shame to meet and then have you vanish off the side of a cliff without me knowing all your secrets." She teased as she offered a somewhat embarassed smile.

Whisper smiled at her and started up the slope. After a few paces, he called back "Don't worry, I'm not ready to die yet. Would be extremely rude of me to do so, leaving my sis and new friend behind. No, I think I'll just have to find a way to become immortal," he teased.

He slowed down for the pretty mare. It was nice, being able to call her a friend. He did consider her one, afterall, though he wasn't sure if he was moving too fast or not. He hadn't really talked to many others. She made him feel so confused. He was more aware of his species around her. He felt like a stallion. Such a thing may seem silly but when your only family and company for most of your life was a mountain lion, you kind of lose sense of self a bit along the way. He felt.. oddly whole aroudn the mare.

"I shall just have to work harder at keeping my secrets away from you. I wouldn't want you to lose interest in having me around," he teased again. "Though we could always exchange secrets on occasion. I wouldn't mind learning more about you."

He turned and looked up the mountain. He could see the fog in the distance and it made him uncomfortable. At least the conversation would help distract him.

Well at least he hadn't become remotely disturbed by her rather odd recovery, afterall, it was hardly an appropriate way to recover from what could have been an uncomfortable situation - yes death was curious, but it wasn't exactly the best way to reassure someone whenever they were going into unknown territory now was it?

Wooo, Yei was all about tact.

Subtle as a sledge hammer...

"Can anyone actually become immortal?" After a few minutes of silence she allowed herself to voice the question. It was a good talking point and she could probably guarantee that there would be a few crazy Kalona that would probably try to achieve such a goal by rather undesirable means - it made her shudder briefly.

"And really, if you managed to live forever wouldn't it get lonely?" She pulled an odd face as her lower lip flicked up briefly and scrunched her nostrils a little, "I mean; if you were in love and your mate wasn't immortal...how could you live forever through the heartache - it would get lonely, don't you think?" She continued, her ears flicking briefly as though the leaves of the trees within the fog had caught her tension before they once again returned to their normal pose, the left drooped unceremoniously while the right remained pert.
