~~~>Spirituality Class Done By Cerylia<~~~
A magic class. Damon had thought the facility had forgotten about his son until they got a few letters in the mail summoning him for a different class every week and an apology as to why they were so late in contacting them. With a shrug, the man had given him some money for the bus and sent him on his way for a magic class, the first of many he would have. It didn’t take long for the naga to get over there despite his sloth demon DNA. More like the bus driver, being in a hurry to get home, decided to speed a bit more than usual in getting the few passengers to their destinations. As Seth maneuvered into the yard of the facility, he nearly missed his teacher had she not been so brightly colored and waving at him. With a soft smile and a wave back, he made his way over with a curious look on his face. Why would they have a class outside? Ily had told them all of hers had been inside...
Cerylia seemed to read his mind, beaming at him as he snaked closer. “Hi there! I’m your magic teacher! You must be Seth. I’m Cerylia and today you’re going to be learning some earth magic! I’m not the greatest with it so this should be interesting! Oh wow, you’ve got a pretty tail and I LOVE those tattoos! Aren’t you a little young for them?” she asked, hovering about the ground as she spoke. Buzzing around her student, she just chattered about whatever seemed to come to mind, even touching one of the tribal designs stained onto Seth’s skin.
Seth giggled softly. “They’re Henna tattoos. They fade after a while,” he explained. She acted a lot like Ily and Áróra; constantly full of energy and buzzing about with a hundred questions or a dozen topics to talk about. “Earth magic?” he asked, suddenly realizing what she had said. Ily had said he’d learn something, but she thought it would be something way different, not earth. Oh boy, would SHE be surprised.
Cerylia giggled and nodded. “Ahuh. You’re going to learn how to manipulate earth and stone to do what you want. For now you’ll just learn the basics but maybe later you could learn how to work with harder stuff. Maybe even making flowers or jewelry out of precious stones,” she explained, grinning and pausing for a moment to look around and return to earth. “I’m not the greatest with Earth magic so bear with me. My people don’t usually work with the stuff, yanno? Anyways, here, see if you can’t make something with this,” she replied, handing Seth a soft clump of dirt.
Seth stared at her for a long moment. “What are you then?” he asked curiously, coiling up into a low seat since it didn’t seem like he was going anywhere anytime soon.
“Fae. Why?” “’Cause you’re so colorful like m’ sister was when she went t’ raves an’ parties. Was curious,” Seth replied, turning his lilac gaze to the dirt in his hand. He was supposed to... manipulate it? Make it something? He vaguely heard his teacher talking on and on about her friends and family and her friends’ families and some other stuff about them. What she talked about specifically he wasn’t sure but he made sure to nod every so often so she didn’t get upset that he wasn’t listening.
“My best friend has this awesome hair color. It’s bright pink and-Oh wow! That’s pretty Seth!” Cerylia gasped, peering over his shoulder. In the boy’s pale hand the earth had slowly shaped itself into a vague flower shape. At least, that was what it looked like when she spoke. The longer she watched the more detailed and beautiful it became till she thought it might even be real. Reaching out to touch it, the earth stopped its slow shifting and she was suddenly aware of his purple eyes gazing at her. The dirt was still dirt and as she touched it, crumbling away a bit at her touch.
“Oh phoo. That was really pretty Seth! Great job. Uhm... Here, make this into an orb.” Seth had to drop the bits of dirt in his hand so he could grasp the gravely textured mud he was given a moment later from a random bucket. An... orb? The stuff was heavy and he had to be honest, he hadn’t a clue how he manipulated the dirt. He knew he had by her reaction and by how absolutely exhausted he felt. Why did magic take up so much energy anyways? Still, he wasn’t about to give up just because he was tired. “Can I get some water?” he asked, shifting his hands to move the lumpy mess into one hand. Maybe if he focused again on what he wanted and visualizing it as that shape it’d do the same thing again. Seemed logical, right?
“Sure! I’ll be right back Seth. Don’t move, kay? And if you feel tired feel free to stop and take a break. I don’t want you fainting or something,” Cerylia said, already heading inside the facility to go grab a couple bottles of water. He hadn’t complained yet and seemed interested enough in his task so fulfilling his one small request wasn’t all that bad to her. As she returned, she couldn’t help but stop at the doorway to watch. There in Seth’s hands was a relatively smooth and perfectly round orb. Moving quietly so as to not startle him, she moved in close to hover over his shoulder to watch.
“Water?” Seth asked, losing concentration on his little project at long last. He had noticed the slight shadow and was hoping it was her that was hovering over his shoulder. The mud in his hand, once so perfect in its shape started to sag and melt down without his magic holding it in place. Cerylia just stared at him for a moment and handed the water bottle over with a grin. “Well Seth, I have to admit, you’re pretty talented with this. Yanno, when you come in next, we can work on manipulating rocks and such to make things. It’ll require a bit more focus and energy but you should be able to do it I mean look at what you’ve done already! It’s awesome! Then after that we can try precious stones and manipulating them, but they’ll require TONS more effort. How’s that sound?” she asked, giggling softly at the end. Oh this was going to be so much fun!
Seth laughed, removing the lump of mud from his hand so he could remove the cap from his water bottle and take a drink from it. “Yeah, sounds fun. Might have t’ bring stuff for energy cause I’m already tired,” he replied. Stifling a yawn, he took another long drink of water. Maybe she’d let him nap for a bit before continuing or something. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case as she zoomed off to a third bucket and returned with a handful of what appeared to be rocks of every size. The largest one wasn’t much bigger than his finger in length while the smallest ones were smaller than his pinkie finger nail. What in the world would she make him do next?
“Try and make these hover over your hand or if that’s too difficult I want you to stack them up in little towers and use your magic to balance them. Kay?” Seth sighed and nodded, taking another long drink from his water bottle and emptying it on the spot. As he took the little rocks all he could really do was stare at them. Making things was easy, since he’d figured out all he had to do was concentrate on the dirt and a picture of what he wanted it to look like. Balancing and hovering sounded way more difficult. Taking in a deep breath, the naga concentrated on the rocks and willed them to rise from his palm.
The rocks slowly gained a slight brown-green glow and wiggled back and forth a bit. When they refused to actually rise, the naga placed one on top of another and held it in place. Slowly a small tower started to form, an impossible balancing act for anyone else. Cerylia just watched in fascination as the tower started to take on odd shapes. At one point her student made the tower curve around in a little loop, creating a glowing circle of pebbles. When they started to shake and tremble, she reached forward and touched his shoulder. “Alright, that’s enough for now. You’ve got the hang of things enough for me to give you a little task for the next week or so until you come back. I want you to do those same things I made you do here today every day until it becomes really easy to do so. I mean, it’ll be tiring but it won’t require as much focus and such. When that happens, give me a call alright?” she asked, noticing the relieved look in his eyes. He looked absolutely exhausted and seemed to sway a little in the light breeze.
“Ok, will do. Is it ok if I wait here? Gotta call m’ dad t’ get a ride,” Seth muttered sleepily, rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand. His teacher nodded, smiling still. He wasn’t sure if she ever stopped smiling through their entire lesson, glad she was excited at least. Upon calling home and getting the buckets all put back together and emptied, Damon finally showed up and hefted the sleeping naga over his shoulder. A short goodbye later and they were both heading home once again.
~~~>Seth's Journal<~~~
Journal
Hey, it's Seth again. So much has happened I... can't even begin to explain. Ily and daddy fight a lot nowadays. They're constantly yelling about something and breaking things all the time. All the windows in the kitchen are boarded up, as are a couple in the living room. It's a nightmare, journal, living here. It's a good thing you're a book.
And Ily's dating someone named Gabriel. He's a spawn like me and he's patience and pride. Daddy didn't like that, which is why he's probably been so upset lately. That and I think she's been getting into clubs she shouldn't be getting into. I miss my sissy... She did something terrible last week too. SHE HIT PHOEBE. Her friend! I didn't get the whole story but Phee was pretty hurt. Did I mention I went to see her in the hospital? It was mostly to get out of the house cause daddy and sissy were shouting a lot and when I got home, the couch was in the front yard and looked like it had been on fire for a while. I'm glad I wasn't around to see it.
I also made a pretty butterfly mask for her. She didn't seem happy that she was bruised up but I thought she was still pretty and I hated seeing her so sad. So I offered and made up one for her! It's pink and sparkly, something I thought she'd like. I gave it to one of the nurses after checking to see if she was still at the hospital. Thankfully the one I'd given it to seemed pretty nice and said she would give it to her. It's funny journal, how every time I see or even think about her I blush and I get all jumbled up. She's really pretty and I think Ily described this sorta thing as a crush... Whatever. I'll have to make sure dad or her don't know or they'll tease me to no end and I don't want that! D:
Uhm... OH! I saw Sita again! biggrin Apparently I get to babysit her sometime for her new daddy! I'm excited cause we're gonna have so much fun! So yeah, bout it.
Oh! Here's a picture of her mask! ((Click me for picture!))
Bye~

~~~>Skills Class Done By Terran<~~~
Seth’s eyes were wide in amazement as he entered the designated classroom for his skills class. It had only been a week since his latest class and while he was still recovering from the massive energy drainage, he figured a skills class wouldn’t require as much work. Finding the place had been difficult in itself in the labyrinth-like hallways of the facility, since every door and hallway looked exactly the same no matter where you were. Well, there were some differences here and there, usually marking major offices or areas. One example was the door to Ary’s melee room where the handle had been frozen solid, preventing access. He was pretty sure it was her way of saying to everyone in the facility to keep out without resorting to pick-able locks.
Still, generally inside classrooms they looked just like that, a normal room. This one wasn’t anything like it at all. It was more like he had stepped into a small underground cave that was covered in gems and had varying tools of some degree off in a corner. In awe, the naga barely even noticed his teacher off to the side watching him closely. At least, he didn’t until the man decided to actually speak.
“So! You’re my new student, eh? Seth, is it? I guess that’s what they meant by having a tail for legs,” a deep voice boomed, turning into a low chuckle as Seth suddenly jumped up, coiling into a striking position. It wasn’t the greatest pose, looking more like it had been modeled after a snake’s, but it was interesting to see. Terran grinned at the boy, offering a small wave and was pleased to see him wave back after he had relaxed a bit. “You like my room, I presume?” he asked when the boy didn’t speak.
Seth nodded, studying the man closely. His clothing was odd, being mostly if not entirely leather and covered in dirt most likely from his room. His hair wasn’t unusually colored, but his horns certainly were. “Your horns are cool. An’ yeah, m’ Seth,” he replied quietly as he moved farther into the classroom so he could shut the door. The man was taller than most, he figured, since his normal moving height was at least half a foot shorter than whatever the man’s height was. “Skills class?” he asked, head tilting curiously to one side. He figured he had the right class, but it was always nice to check. At least he knew it was the right room with how his teacher knew his name before any introductions could be made.
Terran nodded, chuckling again at the comment about his horns. “And your tail is pretty cool too. Your tattoo’s are pretty cool too, what are they?”
“Henna. They’re temporary without washing off the next day like most temporary tattoos or ink.”
“Cool. My name’s Terran, by the way, and you’re learning about gems and basic geology. Figured with your magic talents it would be beneficial. C’mon in, I won’t bite I promise. First I’m going to teach you about various gems and you’re going to memorize them. Basically, their name and about what level of hardness each gem is. If you ever start manipulating them in your magic class, I figured it’d be nice to know what you’d be dealing with beforehand,” Terran paused in his little explanation, making sure Seth was actually listening. Upon seeing that he was, he led the naga over to the nearby gemstone-covered wall.
“Diamonds are the hardest gemstones in the world, obviously. I don’t have any down here but you can pretty much figure out what they look like. Sapphires and Rubies are next, being a level below diamonds. On a scale of one to ten, Diamonds are a ten while sapphires and rubies range around a nine. Emeralds are in the seven to eight category and quartz is about a seven. Most gemstones range around the six-and-a-half to seven range beyond that. Amber is about a two, however. I’ve not actually found any that were lower than that, since I’m pretty sure that’d make it glass or dirt...” As he continued, he pointed to each individual gem set in the wall. With the more expensive ones, they were often little fragments while others that were lesser known and used rarely were there bigger patches of it. Every now and again he’d ask Seth to repeat what he had said, correcting him when he made a mistake and going over that particular gemstone again to make sure he knew it.
It took almost an hour, but they eventually nailed down just over a hundred gemstones. “... An’ diamonds are a ten and thus the hardest gem in the world,” Seth finished, having recited all he had been taught without stumbling or making a single mistake. Terran flashed him a grin, nodding his head in approval. “Good, good. You’re a pretty quick learner. Maybe I’ll see you around again some other time for another class, eh?” he asked, both laughing softly. In the entire time they had discussed the gems, mostly learning about them, he’d figured out they both had some things in common like their dislike of wide open spaces.
“Maybe. You never know. Next time... maybe I could have a class an’ learn about making jewelry or something?” Seth asked, trying to hide the faint blush on his face and failing miserably. Thankfully Terran didn’t comment on it, though the smug look on his face gave away the fact that he knew the spawn wouldn’t be making such things for himself or his sister. “Sure, but it’d be more metal smithing than actually making jewelry. For a girlfriend, I assume?” Seth blushed even more, suddenly becoming tons more interested in the floor than looking at his teacher. “A friend. M’ sister got upset an’ hit her really hard an’ she’s all upset cause she’s bruised up so I figured I’d make her feel better with jewelry,” he replied very quietly, earning a soft laugh from his teacher.
“Boy, no need to be shy. Girls like pretty things and it’s normal to get crushes on people and want to give them gifts. Come on, best get you headed home. Already been here for an hour and a half if my guess is right, maybe even longer,” Terran said, suddenly realizing how late it had to be. Maybe he should get a clock in his room, or at least a watch...
Seth simply nodded, thanking the teacher for the class and practically bolting for the door as he attempted to get back home as quickly as possible. All that talk about crushes and romance was just way too awkward for him, especially with a stranger who was also a teacher.
~~~>Spirituality Class Done By Cerylia<~~~
It had been at least two weeks or so since his previous class entirely, and then another week beyond that since his first spirituality class and he’d have to be lying pretty badly to say he hadn’t practiced practically every day for an hour or so once he had woken up the next day. By the time a week had passed, he had begun to realize why Cerylia had instructed him to practice a bit every day. With each new practice session, he found controlling and drawing upon his magic to be tons easier. Eventually he barely had to concentrate when forming simple objects out of the dirt in the backyard. Thankfully Damon didn’t question him much other than asking him what the hell he was doing that first day. It was almost like he knew when he was using magic, if the constant watching was anything to go by.
Excited beyond measure, Seth maneuvered onto the facility’s grounds and was grateful when Cerylia opened the gate for him instead of a random tech like last time. “Heya kiddo! Ready for the next level in your magic class? Today’s going to be a doozy so I hope you came prepared! I see you’ve gotten more of those funny tattoos since I last saw you,” she giggled, poking one and causing the naga to squirm and laugh. He had forgotten how talkative and cheerful she was; actually glad he was at the facility. Maybe Ily and Damon hated it, but he was beginning to like it. All the teachers he had actually met were really nice. Even Ary was nice once she opened up a little bit and stopped acting irritable all the time.
“I remembered t’ bring food an’ drinks this time, yeah. An’ I did! I got bored one day so I tried out a few an’ kept th’ best ones,” Seth replied with a grin, allowing her to basically fawn over his new additions to his already impressive henna art canvas. Well, it was more tribal designs since he had found them to be the easiest and simplest to doodle out compared to the others. Then again, some were so complex he didn’t even bother trying to replicate them without sufficient practice beforehand. “So I’m going t’ learn how t’ keep th’ dirt in th’ shape I give it?” he asked, hoping to drag her back to the task at hand.
“Oh! Yes, yes, we were! Come on over here Seth, where all the buckets are set up. Feel free to set your bag down anywhere but remember, if things get messy it might get dirty if it’s too close,” Cerylia commented, fluttering over to the six or so large white buckets she had out. Each one was filled with varying degrees of mud and how liable they were to staying in one place without the use of magic. One was even hardening in the shape of the bucket as they spoke. “Alright! Basically, what I want you to do is draw mixtures of the mud out of the buckets and form something, anything, and will it to stay in place. Make sure to combine the varying types and consistencies to make something that will stay solid and keep its shape even after you release your magic’s hold on it.” Seth simply nodded, setting his bag down several feet from the buckets and another three feet from where he planned on working.
Taking a deep breath, Seth concentrated on the mud within the buckets, eventually scooping it out and allowing his first object to form on his hand first. It took a few tries to get the right consistency so it wasn’t brittle or mushy, but he eventually got it and formed a beautiful free-standing daisy on his palm without wasting what he felt to be too much of his energy. Cerylia seemed just as proud as he was at the accomplishment when he handed the flower to her and in return being handed a rock a moment later. “I’ll get back to forming things in a minute. What I want you to do is to focus on that stone right there. It’s pretty soft for a rock, but it should still prove to be a challenge to work with. Focus intensely on it and like before, will it into a shape. However, this time, focus on keeping smooth edges and working with the stone, not forcing it to do your bidding,” she instructed, backing away with the flower still being held gently in her hand.
Seth stared at her for a moment, finally shrugging and turning his lilac eyes to the polished stone’s surface. Flowers seemed a little dull for it and since it was a perfect circle shape, why not mould it into a star shape? It was drastically different without being over the top. Plan in mind, he focused his energy on the stone, feeling its every groove and grain and all the varying densities within its core. Slowly, he urged the points out more and more going from lumpy, rounded points to almost needle-like sharpness. It was only when the stone refused to budge that his exhaustion was finally noticed.
Of course, Cerylia was ecstatic over her student’s success, fawning over the star-shaped stone as he got a drink from his bag of goodies. “Wow Seth! This... This is amazing! I may not be good with earth magic, but this is definitely extraordinary for someone like you in both skill and effort. I never expected a sloth spawn to work so diligently on something before,” she praised, giggling as his face turned a bright shade of pink. He was so adorable all shy and humble like that. It was a shame she couldn’t see him more often for class.
“Thanks,” Seth managed to mumble out before his teacher started on another lesson idea she magically had.
“Seth, what’s one thing you really want to make that incorporates all we’ve done?”
“Huh? Uhm... I know it soun’s silly, but I kinda want t’ make a throne.”
“A throne?”
“’m royalty, apparently,” Seth explained, digging around for his stash of cookies he had hid in his bag earlier. Upon finding it, he stuffed several in his mouth before finally offering one to Cerylia.
“No thanks. I’m good. Hm, a throne you say? Yeah... That’s your next task, Seth. Make a small throne out of the supplies I have here that’s strong enough to at least support you even if you lean back. Ok? Take all the time you need, no need to rush and hurt yourself. Once you finish, and it doesn’t have to be pretty, let me know and I’ll probably call it a day,” Cerylia instructed, fluttering over to the nearby tree and perching lightly in it. She figured Seth would take a solid hour to complete her assignment.
~~~~~
It wasn’t even forty-five minutes later when she found herself being gently woken up, having dozed off a bit in the summer heat. Seth was beaming despite the pure exhaustion that lined his face. There behind him among several piles of dirt and varying discarded materials was a simplistic and yet elaborate throne. The main structural stuff was formed out of rough rocks formed together while the softer things, like the actual seat and general coverings, were made out of mud and dirt. The back wasn’t straight up either, choosing instead to rest at an incline perfect for napping in.
“Tada~ Go ‘head, sit,” Seth said, gesturing to his creation. Having tested it out himself, he figured she could relax in it and test his craftsmanship while he raided his nearly empty bag. All the cookies had been devoured and he only had a single unopened bottle of water left to drink and some random granola bars he had found in the pantry. As he had predicted she would, Cerylia rushed over to the chair and slowly sat down. Seeing it didn’t crumble away immediately, she leaned back farther and farther, obviously pleased at how well it was holding up. Five minutes later and Seth found himself drowsily trying to keep himself awake once again while Cerylia continued to test out his chair of sorts.
“Well Seth, this is pretty darn solid for what it is. I give you an A+ for effort and whatnot. Since I’m sure you already called your dad, I’ll clean this up myself. Don’t worry, it’s fine. Some water and a shovel should put this all back where it belongs easily enough. Take care, Seth, and I hope to see you again soon!” Cerylia finally said, positively beaming at her student despite the obvious fact that he probably wasn’t conscious enough to understand her much. By the time she had gotten the hose out, the naga was fast asleep once more with Damon hauling him off to his pick-up truck. “Sure you don’t need-“
“I’m fine. He’s probably going to be asleep for a day or two, though. He’s pretty talented,” Cerylia interrupted, giggling softly. Damon nodded, waiting a moment before finally turning and heading for his truck. No use arguing when he had to get back home as soon as possible anyways.
