“There it is!” Áróra exclaimed as she matched the numbers on the piece of paper to the house. She had been looking forward to this day for weeks; she was finally going to get to visit a friend at their house and play. It felt like ages since she had last seen Seth on the ferry. Much like that morning, it was also overcast, though today the smell of a coming rain filled the air.

Vilyum had gotten lost on route to Seth’s house 3 times, he quickly found his way each time, but his quickness at rectifying the situation each time was only a testament to how much experience he had getting lost. Áróra didn’t mind though, they were running a bit late but she found the new sites and Vilyum’s bewilderment amusing.

“I told you we would find it,” Vilyum proclaimed in triumph as he pulled up in front of the house. “Hmm, it looks um, it looks, um, like it has a lot of character,” he stammered out as he gazed through the fence, that appeared like it was set to receive a charge, at a house riddled with bullet holes and several broken windows.

“See,” she giggled, “I told you it would be a good idea to bring my Nerf crossbow and dart gun.” At that she opened the door and jumped out.

Meeting her on the passenger side, Vilyum warned, “It’s probably turned off but don’t touch the fence just in case.”

“Okay daddy,” she replied and then followed him up the sidewalk. As they neared the front door, Áróra cut ahead of him and ran up to knock on the door as she bellowed out, “Seth, I’m here!”
PostPosted: Fri Apr 08, 2011 10:04 pm

"THAT'S IT! I'm out! I've had it with you damned people!" came a loud, snarled shout, the front door slamming open and a fairly tall figure stopping briefly to glance at the two standing not far from her. A dark scowl seemingly permanently etched into her face, Ily glared at the two only to roughly shove past and storm down the sidewalk.

"Ilyrosa Spectre get your a** back here! You're grounded ******** make me!" Ilyrosa snarled, refraining from anything else as she suddenly took off down the street as nothing more than a blur of varying colors depending on where you looked. Damon, having leaned out a window to shout back, simply sighed and pulled his head back inside. With the door once more shut, since Ily slammed it hard enough to rattle the windows upon leaving, it took a few moments for it to open again and a THIRD face to appear.

"Áróra! Mister Nums!" Seth greeted, grinning at the two despite the shouting match that occurred only moments ago. "Excuse my dad and sister. They're... It's... They can't help it I guess. Come in, the inside's not as bad as th' outside. Dad doesn't bother keeping up with the repairs anymore," the naga continued, looking a little embarrassed at his family's previous actions and the absolutely shoddy-looking appearance of the abode. He'd do something about it if he had the energy but there just simply wasn't enough time to do anything between all the slamming doors and naps he took.

Hand still outstretched to knock on the door, Áróra was caught completely off guard as it suddenly burst open. “Hi! I am Áróra, whats,” she started only to have the older girl shove past her. Though she was quite unsuccessful in asking the girl her name, she did put two and two together when Damon yelled at after her and figured she must by Ilyrosa. Despite the girl’s rather course entrance and departure, Áróra didn’t want to be rude and called out after her, “Goodbye Ilyrosa, it was nice to meet you!”

She then turned to Vilyum who had a very confused expression, as if he was still unsure what had just happened. He suddenly shook his head slightly as if snapping out of a trance and commented to no one in particular, “Quite the mouth on that one.”

With an unsure look on her face, Áróra queried, “What does ******** mean?”

At her inquiry, Vilyum smacked himself in the forehead and then replied, after pulling his hand down across his face, “That would be one of those words we call a bad word, not really polite to say, same with a**.”

“Oh, I know what a** means! Hmm, okay daddy, no bad words!,” Áróra answered with a giggle, just as the door opened.

“Seth!” Áróra exclaimed as she rushed the naga with a hug. “How are you, Seth? Are those bullet holes?” she let out loudly as she released him from the hug and then moved in close to his right ear to whisper, “Your sister and daddy say bad words!” At that she rushed in through the door. “C’mon Seth!”

With a tip of his hat, Vilyum greeted the naga, “Good day Seth.” He then made his way in behind Áróra.

Seth giggled at the hug and excited questions that he was greeted with. Hugging her back, he moved out of the way so the two could enter without shoving past like his sister had only moments ago. "I'm alright and yeah, I think so. That's what Ily says they are, anyways," he replied, laughing at what she whispered into his ear. "Yeah, they do. They shout a lot too," he muttered back before closing the door as Vilyum entered.

Despite the outside appearing to belong to a condemned building or the hideout of some notorious gang, the inside was relatively nice looking. They stood in the living room where a single couch and TV rested, along with other little furnishings here and there. A door to the left was open, revealing the possibility of a dining room or kitchen while on the right was a curling staircase up to the top floor. In the back, however, was two doors with one obviously leading to the backyard and the other to the possibility of a basement.

"Daddy should be back soon-ish. So Áróra, whatcha wanna do? We has lots and lots of games an' movies or I can show you my friends upstairs. They're prob'ly awake by now after all tha' shoutin'," Seth explained, appearing to find the whole shouting match completely normal. Sure he hated it when they fought but Ily always returned eventually and they usually apologized... Sometimes.

Áróra scurried about the living room, looking all about, and then, after getting a look at everything, finally made her way to the couch and set her bag down next to it. She didn’t really spend much time going to other people’s houses and seeing the inside of a dwelling, other than her own, was a new experience. “Do they use bad words a lot Seth?” Áróra questioned as she craned her head about.

“Your house is nice Seth!” Áróra giggled and then made her way to the back of the room and opened the door to the back yard to look outside. After getting a good look at the back yard she pointed to the other door and asked, “Does that door lead to a basement? Daddy’s house is mostly just basements; there isn’t much that is above ground, other than the tower. It’s like a great big dungeon! Well, without bars or cells and we have carpeting…”

After staring off into the distance, lost in thought, for a moment or two, thinking of the comparisons between her house and a dungeon, excitedly hurried over back to Seth and exclaimed, “All of those sound fun! Oh, and I brought my NERF Crossbow and a Nerf gun for you to use! Oh, I brought some crayons and papers and some other things to in my bag! I brought some sandwiches too! I made them! Hmm, let’s go see your friends! Who are they? What games do you have? Oh and you said your daddy should be back soon-ish? Where is he? I thought I just saw him.”

While Áróra was going about the living room, Vilyum fidgeted slightly and turned to face Seth and stated, “Um, the drive was a bit longer than I expected, where abouts is your restroom?”

A soft sigh escaped from the naga. "Yeah, unfortunately," he replied, watching Áróra wander around and look at everything, giggling softly. Minus the initial shouting match, he was starting to like having people over. "Thanks! And yeah, it does, but it's messy," Seth added at her next question. Her house certainly sounded interesting, that was for sure. Almost made him wish he had gone there instead. Ily would've gotta a kick out of dragging him there.

"You did? Awesome! My friend's are in my room and we gots lotsa games cause daddy likes to play them on his days off. He's in the kitchen, the window's are weird like that. They never line up," Seth replied, taking all the questions without seemingly any difficulty. Living with a spawn of diligence certainly had it's perks from time to time. "Bathroom? Uhm... Up the stairs, first door on the right. An' what are we standing here talking for? Le's go!" he continued, grinning and heading for the stairs. With skills that shouldn't belong to a half snake child, the naga quickly made his way up the stairs without seemingly any difficulty whatsoever.

Making sure Áróra was following him, Seth headed for his room at the other end of the hallway. As he opened his door, warmth and dim light billowed out to envelope them in an almost rain forest-like environment. Lacking a bed, a massive nest of pillows, blankets, and varying soft plush objects rested in one corner while a giant fake tree branch occupied the opposite wall and parts of the far one. Beautiful green leaves decorated the limbs, nearly hiding the two snakes perched on it from view. "Th' green one there is Xandria an' th' dark-red one up at the top is Pandorphone. She doesn't like people all that much but Xandria's nice," he explained, maneuvering over to the Emerald Boa constrictor and somehow managing to get her to leave her perch to wrap around his torso and arm.

"She says hi, by the way," Seth added, running a finger along the green and white scales that covered her body.

“I haven’t heard many bad words before,” Áróra stated before leaning in towards Seth and whispering with a giggle, “Do you know any more?” Tilting her head slightly to the left, she queried, “Just how messy is it? My room sometimes gets messy, but then daddy tells me to clean it. It’s weird though, he wants me to clean my room, but you should see his workshop; he leaves stuff laying all over the place, big gears, pieces of metal, of wood, screws, great big hammers, and knives and axes!” Pausing for a moment, slightly biting her lip, she suddenly exclaimed, “Next time you should come over to my house!”

“Thanks Seth,” Vilyum replied before nearly disappearing in a flash up the stairwell.

Áróra happily followed Seth up the stairwell, somehow practically skipping as she ascended it and then continued to follow Seth, down the hall, to his room, looking all about as she went. Out of nowhere, she suddenly inquired, “So um Seth, you said your daddy has a lot of games? Do you have a favorite game? What does he do? He is in the kitchen? Is he getting something to eat? Do you have any favorite foods?”

Upon entering Seth’s room, Áróra stopped in her tracks, dumbfounded at the site of Seth’s nest. “Look at all those pillows and blankets and wow!” she exclaimed as she bounded over to it and dived in. Giggling, she rolled about in it and cried out, “So comfy, I want my bed to be like this!” Popping out of Seth’s nest, she scampered over to him and Xandria, “Aww,” she cooed, “they are both so pretty!” Leaning in towards Xandria, she quietly said through a wide smile, as she ran her fingers along the snake, “Hello, Xandria, how are you? You are a boa right? I’ve seen pictures of boa’s in some of my books, but none as pretty as you!” Her hand still running along Xandria, she looked up at Pandorphone and waved with her other hand. “Hello Pandorphone, how are you? You’re a very pretty snake as well, though I don’t know what type you are; I haven’t seen a snake like you in my books, I don’t think.”

Seth nodded slowly, cooing softly in quiet hisses to Xandria who appeared pretty content hearing them and receiving the attention. "My favorite is Tetriss. Not a fan of the oness dad hass. Dad iss a bounty hunter or ssomething an' he'ss cooling down cause of... sstuff. Favorite food? Uhm... Cookiess an' chicken," he replied, extending his S' a bit simply because of how difficult it was to quickly go between the languages of snake and English just by how different they were. Snake language had more emphasis on the sound while English seemed to be tons more... clipped? The pre-teen mentally shrugged off the thought, concentrating instead on what his friend was saying and possibly translating some of the more important bits.

"Hm? Please don' mess up my bed. It... iss difficult to fix," he commented, pausing as Xandria swung her head towards him for the briefest moment. A long pause followed before a response followed. "She says she's fine and yeah, an Emerald Tree Boa constrictor and thanks you for your compliment. Pandorphone up there... She's not actually speaking but she's a rare species only found on Gaia and when given as a gift," Seth translated, giggling for a moment. "Xandria also says you ask a lot of questions and remind her of my sister when she's excited." Now he understood why he liked her so much. He would never have noticed it before, but the she certainly did act a LOT like Ily when not upset or arguing.

It didn't even occur to him that Áróra had no idea he could actually speak snake and thus understand what exactly the two female snakes were saying.

“Oh, cool, I’ve played Tetris! What other games do you have? My favorite game is Portal. The new one is coming out soon! I also like the Civilization games… Oh and Arcanum, Bioshock, The Adventures of P.B. Winterbottom! That remind me, I like pie; do you like pie? Your daddy is a bounty hunter? What’s that like? My daddy just sits at home and fiddles with things in his workshop. I wonder what chicken and cookies would taste like together?” Áróra replied in full ramble mode, only stopping at the end to ponder that taste combination. “No I don’t think it would taste good,” she muttered, answering her own question.

“I’m sorry,”
Áróra apologized, “it just looked so comfy; I didn’t mean to make a mess up your bed Seth.” Áróra felt bad that she had made a mess of his bed, she was a guest in his house and here she was, screwing up his things. She bent down and tried to put it back how it had been. After a few moments, she thought she might have had it right or at least close. “Is this better Seth?” she asked, in an apologetic tone.

“Seth…so how do you know that they are saying? And you were hissing. Can you talk to them and understand them? Can I learn to talk to them?” she inquired before attempting a hiss. She then gave her best shot at attempting a snake hissing sound. “Hmm,” she commented, “that probably didn’t come out right. I hope you weren’t offended by my attempt at snake speak Xandria and Pandorphone. Can they understand me? Or do you have to translate to them as well?” Leaning in towards Xandria she rubbed her some more and queried, “So I remind you of Seth’s sister? She seemed rather upset earlier…”

A few moments of Áróra rubbing the snake passed, when Áróra suddenly looked up at Seth and asked, “Do you think she would mind if I held her?”
PostPosted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 6:59 pm

Seth shrugged lightly. "Lots. Practically every one I think and yeah, I like pie but I like sugar cookies more. He is a bounty hunter, but he won't tell me what he does," he replied, giggling as Áróra apologized for messing up his nest-like bed. "Is ok. Looks fine to me." So long as it was relatively the same, it'd be fine. He just didn't want it completely destroyed lest he couldn't get to sleep. No, he'd be able to sleep just about anywhere, but he certainly wouldn't be comfortable.

"What?" The question caught him off guard, too preoccupied with thoughts of napping and sleep to really hear what she asked. "Oh, yeah, I can understand them. Th' two of them really taught me how t' speak it a while ago," Seth paused as Áróra attempted snake speech, laughing softly at it. "Their language is more complex than that. An' they know a couple words, but I have to translate, yeah," he replied, quickly relaying the question to Xandria only to pause at the upset comment.

"She's part wrath an' daddy was arguing with her about something. She's usually hyper and asks a lot of questions an' laughs and is fun most of the time," he explained slowly, glancing at Xandria who already seemed to understand his friend's request and was beginning to unwind from him and prepare herself for transfer. Giggling, he nodded. "She won't mind. Here, hold still and don' freak out," Seth replied and extended his arm so it was nearly touching Áróra. Slowly, the green boa moved away from the naga and onto her shoulder where her lower half wrapped snugly around Áróra torso and her upper half rested on her shoulder as if waiting for a good place to perch.

"She likes you lots," Seth giggled, grinning widely at the two.

~*~*~

Damon sighed as he exited the kitchen, depositing himself onto the living room couch upon seeing no one in the room. He could hear Seth and Áróra up in the naga's room, which meant they'd be there for a while so he could relax. Completely forgetting his horns were actually showing and his fangs weren't retracted, the man flicked the TV on only to wish he had thought to grab a beer or a bag of chips before settling. Damn Ilyrosa, why did she have to blow up at everything? It was annoying having to hide in order to control his less human-like features. Ugh.

Áróra’s eyes lit up at Seth’s reply and she eagerly commented back, “Really? Practically every one?! We have a lot, but not nearly every on! I really like pie; pumpkin pie, cherry pie, chocolate cream pie, lemon meringue. Cookies are good too though! Sugar, chocolate chip, peanut butter, macadamia nut, mmm. Cheesecake and cinnamon rolls and brownies, gooey brownies! Do you like brownies? I made some as well, they are with the sandwiches if you want one later! Gooey double fudge!” Áróra stared off into space for a moment or two, completely lost in her thoughts of all those delicious goodies and salivating a bit. Snapping out of it she continued, “Oh, so he won’t tell you much about it? Okay. Yay! So it looks alright? I tried my best to get it to look how it was before I messed it up. I bet it is real comfy to sleep in! I should see if daddy would get me some extra pillows and blankets for my bed….”

“That’s amazing Seth,” Áróra squealed, “So they taught you to speak their snake language? Do you think I could ever learn any? Like, just to say hello? Or is it something only you can learn, since you are part snake? You probably have to have the tongue for it; I just have a normal tongue, see.” She then proceeded to open her mouth as wide as she could, practically pushing her mouth to the edge of dislocation, while sticking her tongue out and pointing at it with her right index finger. After thinking about it for a moment and shutting her mouth, she questioned, “Does it ever get confusing, going back and forth between the two languages?”

“Hmm,” Áróra replied with a grin, “well I hope I can meet her again when she is in a better mood then!” Giggling with delight exclaimed, “Yay! She will let me hold her!” Áróra edged closer to Seth’s outstretched arm, giggling even more as Xandria slithered onto her and wrapped around her torso. She happily ran her fingers along Xandria and also stroked her with the two face tentacles that were closest to her. “I like Xandria a lot too!” she said, with a wide grin, before asking, “Um, why doesn’t Pandorphone come down?”

~*~*~

With a stretch of his arms, Vilyum exited the restroom. He stood in place for a moment, listening to Áróra and Seth from down the hall, and laughed lightly to himself. He was glad she had the opportunity to visit with a friend for a day and play; she could be a bit of a handful at times, but she was always so cheerful, he was happy to hear her having fun. With a sigh, he continued back on his way and slowly went down the stairwell, only to arrive on the ground floor and see Damon relaxing in the chair and looking a bit different since the last time they had met. “So, all isn’t as it appears to be, is it?” he uttered, more of a statement then a question, “Feeling a bit horny today are we?”
PostPosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 12:48 am

Seth simply laughed at all the talk about desserts, deciding to never get her started on a conversation he couldn't keep up with on a normal basis. "I do like brownies and yes, they taught me bits and pieces. But..." he paused, looking hesitantly between the two snakes for the briefest moment. Could he teach his friend to speak a language completely unrelated to her? No, it'd be impossible probably, given what language it was and the complexity it involved while HAVING snake genes.

He couldn't imagine how difficult it could be without them. "I can try, but there's nothing really simple abou' it in the first place. I think only I can learn it. 'M sorry," Seth apologized, giggling as Áróra stuck her tongue out before pondering her next question. She was definitely full of them today, testing his limits on what he could all process at once. "It does get confusing, but it's more the switching than the speaking part. Er... I know how to say what I want, bu' sometimes my brain and mouth don't work together," he replied, trying his best to explain things. Which was, needless to say, difficult in of itself. Why did explaining things have to be so damned difficult in the first place anyhow?

"She should be calm later when she gets home," Seth replied cheerfully, flashing her a grin. Said grin faded when asked about Pandorphone, unfortunately. "Well... She's not fond of people. It took me a while to get her trust even being what I am. Don't take it personally, she likes being left alone," the naga commented, giggling at the various happy little comments Xandria would make about being petted. It was certainly fun having friends over, and she seemed to like the extra attention.

~~~
Damon glanced at Vilyum as he spoke, smirking devilishly. "Yes, I do believe I am feeling a little horny," he replied with a soft chuckle. It had been rapidly debated as the man entered the room to quickly change back, but now he was glad he hadn't. Sure if things had suddenly been pelted at him things would be different, but such an act didn't happen so things were alright. At least, for now anyways.
With a giggle, Áróra exclaimed, “Well then, since you like brownies, you will definitely have to have one, or two, or three, well all that you want really; I brought the whole pan, well, except for one, daddy ate that one. He wouldn’t wait to eat it either; he ate it straight out of the oven and burned his mouth. Daddy burns his mouth a lot, he never waits. All this talk of food has made me hungry.”
Despite what she had already guessed, she was a bit disappointed; she had really hoped she could learn to speak with the snakes and to speak with Seth in the snake language.”That’s okay, Seth,” she replied, “I understand, I don’t have the proper snakiness to learn snake speech; does it have a proper name? If not, is snake speech alright? Too bad I can’t learn to say hello to them in their own language.” With a grin she added, “At least you can translate for me! Too bad Xandria and Pandorphone probably can't eat brownies or sandwiches. What do your snakes eat?” After listening to his explanation, she threw in, “It does sound like it’s confusing; I only speak one language and sometimes it seems like my mouth has a mind of its own. I could only imagine the misfires that would happen if I was trying to switch between two languages at once!”
“Well, I will look forward to meeting her a second time then! Before she just pushed through me like I wasn’t even there!” she stated, first with a grin, but as she finished, for a moment, a slight sour face of irritation was plainly visible, though it quickly vanished. “Aww, okay,” she commented upon hearing Seth’s reply, “is there any reason in particular she doesn’t like people?” As she continued to pet Xandria, a thought suddenly popped into Áróra’s mind, she quickly asked, “When we leave your room to do something else, do you think Xandria would like to come as well?” Looking up at Pandorphone, she added with a curtsy, “Though you probably won’t want to, you are invited as well, Pandorphone.”
~~~

As Vilyum removed his coat, one much too long and thick to be considered the norm for the current weather, and set it aside; he casually, as if simply making idle small talk about the weather or some minor league sports team, asked, “So, some sort of demon or half demon or something else all together? If you don’t mind my inquiry.” Suddenly realizing his throat was rather parched, he added, while motioning to the kitchen. “Also, mind if I grab a soda or something?”
PostPosted: Wed May 11, 2011 7:36 pm

Seth giggled and paused at the actual question he was asked. "Ahh... They have mentioned a name, but I don't know how to actually translate it. Snake speech is alright, though. Maybe I can try and teach you hello, but it'll be difficult," he replied softly, then glanced up at Pandorphone who was still gazing off into the distance with an obvious look of disinterest. "Nah, not that stuff. More like baby mice and varying other things. It changes every so often."

Smiling softly at Áróra's comment about being unable to speak without tripping over her own words. "Ily does that when she's mad or upset. Trust me, she saw you and knows you're here. She just felt getting away was better than staying home all angry," he paused, then glanced up again at Pandorphone. "She's just... antisocial I guess. She doesn't talk to me much, so I dunno," he continued only to translate to her in hopes of a reaction. When the snake gave a slight shrug and looked away, the naga could only sigh and nod in understanding. Xandria, however, tightened her grip on Áróra's arm as if waiting for the inevitable leaving.

"Xandria wants t' go, though she asks if I can hold her cause she's more comfortable with me," Seth added only to pause as Pandorphone began to make her slow descent down the tree, quickening her pace to snake up his body and coil protectively around his midsection. "Never mind, then," he added, laughing softly and petting the snake lovingly. "She wants t' go after all."

~~~~~
Damon shrugged a bit. "Half demon, but even that is being pretty generous. And help yourself, there's got to be some in the fridge. I'd be careful, though, since I'm not sure when it was last cleaned out." Lazily pointing in the direction of the kitchen and general fridge location. Unwilling to get up, he instead righted himself on the couch to provide some space for the other man to sit at least.
Giggling, she replied, “Ok, snake speak it is! You might be able to teach me to say hello? Really? I would love to learn how to say hello in snake speak!” After hearing his answer to the question on what his snaked liked to eat, she couldn’t help but shudder slightly. “Baby mice?” she answered sheepily, “I like a lot of food, but I don’t think I would like mice, especially the babies. Though I bet it is still better then lutefisk. Well, to each their own.” For a moment she tried to picture what they would taste like, but soon into it, she changed her mind, realizing that some things were better not to try and imagine.
"A lot of times," she stated, suddenly continuing from before, "it’s like my mouth has a mind of its own and I just keep going on and on and suddenly I think, am I still talking?" Realizing that she was starting to do just that, she stopped for a moment then replied to Seth's comment regarding Ily, "Oh? Does she do that a lot, push through people when upset? Do you know why she was so upset? Why they were arguing? I guess it would be better to do that if it would help her calm down.” She couldn’t help but be disappointed, she really would have liked to have made friends with Pandorphone; she couldn’t understand why the snake didn’t want to come down and meet her. “Aww, so she is just antisocial? When she does talk to you, what does she talk about?” Looking down at Xandria, she petted her some more and added, “You aren’t antisocial Xandria!”
“Oh! Pandorphone came down!” Áróra exclaimed, “Do you think she might also let me pet her?” “So,” Áróra added, a bit of sadness in her tone, “Um, Xandria doesn’t want me to hold her then?” She had enjoyed having her wrapped around her, though suddenly she had a thought, “Though would it be, um, awkward holding both snakes since Pandorphone came down?” Either way thought, she was ready to depart. “Ok, lead the way”
~~~~~

At Damon’s insistence to help himself, Vilyum made his way to the kitchen. Opening the fridge, he scanned the contents. It was a bit, um, cluttered, he thought, I’ve seen much worse, much much worse. Not feeling up to giving it much more thought though, he grabbed one at random, shut the door and made his way back to the living room. He then proceeded to sit down in the now vacant spot, and popped open the can.
