A Doppelganger
Shesha had spent a bit of time in the market place, mostly just wandering around, looking at things, trying to decide what he wanted to spend his allowance on. Of all of the patrons that he had in the past the 'old man' really was the most stingy. He only gave Shesha so much to spend per week and even then he only gave him the allowance if he kept up with his magical studies. Not that he often slacked off but it seemed almost as though it was a secondary bit of encouragement or something. Ah well, he just had to save his funds and he would be able to get himself something magnificent! On top of that all he really had to do was master this whole magic thing and he would be able to get himself a patron that was just rolling in wealth! Wealth that would be shared with Shesha if he had anything to say about it... and one day he would find wealth of his own that didn't include needing a patron.
He found himself for a moment thinking on Aqio and what he might think of the fact that Shesha still had a ways to go before he became a master that was actually worthy of keeping a pet assassin. Already Aqio was determined when it came to where his place would be so at least he had that going for him, right? He gave pause, shaking his head, before he continued forward. No! No... he wasn't about to let himself get so mixed up by the little fish. Sure, he claimed that Shesha was going to be his master and it sounded all well and good but there was nothing to say that it was truth. He might just be stroking Shesha's ego so that he could get in close and strike the finishing blow. It was possible but why hadn't he done so already? Not as though he hadn't had plenty of opening where Shesha had foolishly let his guard down.
It might just be that the little fish really was devoted to him, wanting to belong to Shesha, and he should really take him up on the offer. Wouldn't that make those of the court rather jealous, that he had an adorable Matorian throw himself into Shesha's arms. A thought that caused a smile to spread over his painted lips. Of course they would be jealous since others had to give up there cute little fish while Shesha had one come to him willingly. It was something that was beyond pleasant to think about. He hoped that they stewed in their jealousy. It was something that had the mage smirking a bit as he walked along, about to go home when he heard a sound that was familiar to him, a jingling sound that he'd come to associate with Aqio as the other went about wearing bells from time to time on his outfits.
Turning his head he saw a form moving down an alleyway, hips swaying, bells jingling, veils swishing... all various things meant to get Shesha's attention he was sure. It was something that actually put a smile on the red head's lips. Was Aqio trying to seduce him today? Was that his lesson that he was getting from the guide this time? It was something that was in a way amusing if only because Shesha was the one that was supposed to be doing the seducing, not the little fish. Still, he was curious as to how far he might take the task, not to mention how well he might do at the whole seduction thing. Turning down the alleyway he walked toward where Aqio was currently standing, waiting for him in the shadows, crooking a finger at him. He really was into it, wasn't he? Nothing that Shesha hadn't done in the past but Aqio seemed to be putting his all into it.
He opened his mouth, about to call out to the little fish, when a figure slipped up behind him. One arm wrapped around him in a flash, a hand grabbing hold of his mouth, before something sharp buried itself into his side. It was a burning hot pain and instantly blood was blossoming forth from the wound. What in the name of Essd...? He gave a hissing shriek against the hand that was covering his mouth, his anger rising. So then he was right all along? The little fish had just been getting close to him so that he could do this? He struggled a bit in the grasp of the bigger man's arms, but that resulted only in the blade sinking in deeper, more blood gushing forth from the wound. He'd kill them... he'd kill them both for this! His groggy brain for a moment tried to question who the other man might be... the mentor... the brother? It was hard to say.
Shesha watched, his mind spinning now, as the little fish came forward from the shadows... and he found himself starring at... some... woman? He blinked a couple times, his mind whirling, before it came to one angry conclusion. This witch... she'd stolen Aqio's mode of dress on purpose, hadn't she? A doppelganger that was out for his blood... giving an a shriek he let out a blast of fiery magic that burned the one behind him and singed the one in front of him before collapsing. He'd barely hit the ground but the two assassins were already gone. Laying there in a heap he rolled over onto his side, trying to regroup, wanting to attempt to get out of the alleyway before they returned to finish the job like the stray dogs that they were...
As he struggled to get himself to a point where he could get back to his feet another form stepped into the alleyway and approached the bleeding Oban, speaking not a single word as he did so. Shesha couldn't make him out, his vision a bit bleary, but he could at least tell that it was neither of the assassins. Who it was though he couldn't say, all he knew was the guy was scooping him and his weapon up, carrying him out of the alleyway at a rapid pace... and Shesha's consciousness slipped away as they went...

Growth Solo: Plotting While He Waits
(( Laid up after an attempt on his life Shesha is forced to wait for 'rescue' from his painfully boring predicament by his magic teacher. Shesha isn't one for asking for help, wanting to do everything with his own two hands. Asking for help from the the one that bugs him the most is something that he would never have through of before now but given the situation he has to swallow his pride and do so.
While he waits he plots on how to get back at the one that attacked him and put him in such a spot. Shesha isn't a forgiving person nor is he a kind person, as such he means to see to it that he gets his revenge for what was done to him. Before now the 'Beast Lord' Parthlio was never someone that Shesha cared about, the man wasn't his problem after all, but after the man took a shot at him to punish someone else he's caught Shesha's attention and ire. Normally Shesha's doesn't care about aiding others but his change in perspective might end up helping someone else instead of just helping himself. ))
Shesha was sitting in a small, boring room, the sort that made him want nothing more then to scream. He'd been here for some time now, since he'd gotten injured, being guarded by some fools that refused to just let him leave. It seemed that he was 'under their protection' because of Aqio and that just made him want to strangle the little fish. How dare he get in the way and interfere? He should be home, should be training, and instead he was stuck here because of the little fish? That had to be the most grating part of all of this, that it wasn't even that he'd been targeted because he was making a name for himself, he was targeted because of Aqio!
Giving a grumbling sound he reached over, picking up a cup that was within his reach, throwing it at the door, "You'd better bring that stupid fish to me when you find him!" He called out to whoever was outside the door to his room. It was unlikely that he would come back in because it had been the person and not the door that met with Shesha's rage last time. Since then the man hadn't really come into the room, instead just sliding a tray in from the safety of the outside so as to avoid any throw weapons or spells that might come his way. They had to protect Shesha because he was under the protection of a member of their guild but it didn't mean that he had to deal with his face to face. Normally Shesha could play nice, be the sort that people wanted to be around, but today wasn't that day.
Sitting up he found himself starring at the cup as it clattered along the floor before giving a sigh, "Stupid fish... getting me stabbed, getting me kidnapped, getting me locked up! You just wait until I get out of here." He wanted to find him and give him a swift kick in the backside... but he also wanted to find the accursed 'Beast Lord' that seemed to be so eager to lash out at Aqio that he would target those that were connected to Aqio to hurt him. It was so... so rage inducing! To the point that Shesha wished that he had more things to throw around. Didn't that addle brained fool know that he should be trying to off Shesha for a good reason and not just because he was connected to Aqio? Didn't he know that Shesha meant to become a powerful figure among the higher ups one day and that it should be due to all of his own hard work that people should target him? Instead he was stabbed in the back because of Aqio!
Reaching out he picked up something else, one of the sandals that he'd been wearing, and threw that at the door next, "I will be leaving here shortly! You can't just hold me in here forever as though I am a petulant child who was grounded!" Even if the part about him acting like a child fit the situation. He was angry so at the moment he didn't even care that his usual mask hadn't just slipped but instead had fallen off completely!
Shifting himself so that he was laying comfortably on his stomach Shesha crossed his arms, resting his chin on them. Were it not for the fact that his wound still ached a bit he would likely have already tried to leave... or at least he'd of tried a bit harder to leave. The first couple attempts he'd made ended the same way, with some nameless, bald headed wall of muscle picking him up to carry him back here. Were Shesha in a better mood he might have been able to appreciate such a thing but as it were he'd instead used his magic to give the man a good zap for manhandling him in such a manner without permission. Two attempts at escaping back to his normal life, two failures, and Shesha wasn't the sort that believed the old adage of 'the third time's a charm'. Instead he felt that the third time would be a third failure and he might be more apt to burn the place down! Something that wouldn't make him any friends.
Given that he'd exhausted most of his other options he'd decided that he would have to do the one thing that he really, really didn't want to do. He was the sort that was fine with using and abusing anyone possible, more then happy to make a stepping stool of anyone out there... but to ask the 'old man' for aid. It really was a grating though. The man would probably come here all smiles and amusement, he'd laugh at Shesha, pat him on the head, treat him like a prentice all over again despite the fact that Shesha felt he was getting along well. It was so annoying! Why did he have to ask for help from the one that was immune to him? The one that treated him like a child? The one that refused to be walked all over in the manner that Shesha was so used to being able to do?
He'd just take it out on Aqio later since all of this was his fault! He was an assassin now, wasn't he? He should go and stab that damn Beast Lord repeatedly! Since he refused to then maybe Shesha would have to take it upon himself to make the man's life Hell in his place? Praise be to the the domain of Jonal as he laid siege upon Parthlio and saw to it that he suffered for daring to strike out at Shesha instead of being a man and going after the one that had really upset him. Then again he supposed that it made sense to come after Shesha since he was able to get near to Aqio in a manner that the Beast Lord no longer could any longer due to those guardians that took care of Aqio. Had it been anyone else in the world Shesha wouldn't have cared, he'd of left Parthlio to do his thing because the man hadn't been on his mind really. He wasn't someone that he could use to step up in the world so he was unimportant.
Now it was different, the man was very much on his mind, he had been for some time now, since he'd been stabbed, through his treatment, and through his whole internment in this accursed room with its bare walls and lack of a window to escape from. He'd see the man suffer no matter how he had to go about it and to make sure that he did so in a manner that would suit the situation he wouldn't strike out at Parthlio himself. He'd take a page from the man's book and go about it in a more round about manner, the sort of manner that would make the man come to regret coming after him instead of a more suiting and infinitely more forgiving target. Letting his eyes close he started to go through the various things that he knew about Parthlio, ever coming back to Aqio. It would start with him, with Shesha gathering information about Parthlio from the little fish so that he could go forward with his plans.
For now though he merely needed to wait, to see if those within this place bothered to send world to the 'old man' so that he would spring Shesha from this place. He was tired of being locked up. He wanted to get back home, to his training, to his plotting, and make sure that he hadn't been forgotten in the weeks he was locked away. The first thing he'd need to do once he was out was dress in his finest and make sure to attend a party or two, just so that the Beast Lord would become well aware that he wasn't dead. He'd be sure to rub it in the man's face that the one he'd hired was a failure and then he'd go on from there... and if he was feeling really catty, which he was, he'd be sure to bring the little fish to the party with him.
Smirking now like a perzi that had gobbled up someone's prized bird he allowed himself to relax for the time being, resting up on the bed, awaiting his 'savior'. He might very well have to thank the 'old man' which would be the worst thing ever, even worse then being laid up, but if it meant getting out of here he was more then happy to do it.

Boredom Made Better
Shesha gave a little bit of a yawn as he sauntered out of his room, holding his magical staff in one hand, playing with a lock of his long hair with the other. It was still morning and yet he still felt as though it were a wasted day filled with boredom on his part. The Dretch was something that should be in his thoughts but it really wasn't. They were a threat that wasn't one that he cared about on a personal level. If anything he felt there were other things that he should be doing to reach his own personal goals... but he didn't really feel like doing that either. He was just... bored.
Was it because his little fish wasn't about? He had other things to worry about where his family was concerned leaving him on his own. Just as he thought that he heard a voice calling out his name, not that of his little fish but instead that of the 'old man'. It had him sighing again before he walked over toward where it was, glancing out the door toward the man that was standing there. Shesha's sharp eyes gave him a once over before he said, "You're looking all fancy today, aren't you? Why is that, old man?" What was it that Svetan was up to? He was looking all fancied up so he'd have to assume that it was something interesting. Something that peaked his interest a bit. What was going on? Where was he going? Was it something that might actually be interesting enough to make it so that the day was less tedious and dull?
Svetan gave Shesha a long glance, taking in his current state of lazy undress, before giving a bit of a sigh, "Well, I was getting ready to head out to a nice lunch with someone I thought you might want to meet with but... it doesn't seem as though you're wanting to go out today." The man gave a bit of a smirk seeing the look of panic on Shesha's face as he spoke. The wide eyes, the way that the color drained from his face, it was pretty amusing if you asked him. It was also nice to see him out of sorts since he tended to be so difficult to ruffle.
Giving a nod he said, "I am going to be heading out then, do enjoy the rest of your..." A sentence that was halted as Shesha caught hold of him by the wrist, pulling him back the best that one of Shesha's build could.
"Don't just rush off like that, old man! You didn't even give me any notice that you were going out on some fancy visit today." He said, his mood going from boredom to surprise to sour in the matter of moments. The man was just going to leave without him despite saying straight out that he wanted to introduce him to someone that he thought Shesha might like?! What sort of game was he playing?
"Didn't I?" The man gave a smile and then lifted a hand, giving Shesha a pat on the head like one might a child that he was trying to soothe, before he said, "I suppose that I will give you a bit of time to..." No reason to finish as Shesha was already rushing off toward his room, off to get ready to go. It was something that also make the older man chuckle. He would need to test Shesha like this a bit more often he thought to himself, finding it to be a bit on the endearing side to see someone like Shesha acting in such a manner. It took a lot but he got to see his cute side today... and he was sure he would see his more 'professional' side soon enough.
A short time later Shesha reappeared, dressed in a manner that was fancier then he had been, his hair tied back, and his make up done. The too pretty mage gave a smile and then motioned to Svetan and said, "Shall we?" He hated to rush, wanting to be perfect in every way but today he hadn't been able to do that. He'd had to do what he considered as being 'minimal' when it came to get ready. It had him fiddling with his hair a bit as they headed out the door and toward where they were going to be having lunch. As they walked along he found himself wondering where they were going, who they were meeting with, what it was about the person that he would find interesting, and so on. A shame that he didn't have his little fish with him, feeling that it would make him look that much better to whoever he was going to meet with. Another time, perhaps.
"It won't be long now. I think that this meeting with be a good one for you, Shesha. I think you might enjoy yourself as well." He said that but the smile on the man's face really made Shesha wonder what it was that the man was planning.
It was something that he'd learn a short time later as he found himself understanding better the look on the man's face as they stepped into the tea house that they had come up to. Svetan moved to sit down next to a rather fancily dressed Oban woman and her little youngling... boy? If he had to guess he'd say that it was a boy only it was a too cute for his own good one. The sort of look that Shesha had and took full advantage of when he was younger he thought to himself. Giving a little smile he settled down as well, greeting the pair. The tea was poured, conversation struck up, and Shesha found himself actually enjoying the afternoon well enough. Better then he thought his day was going to be at least. Especially given that the woman was really interested in her son possibly learning magic one day and while Shesha didn't like the idea of taking on a student he did like the idea of having her as a connection.
He could at least meet with the kid when he was a bit older, do a couple tests to see if he even had the aptitude for casting, and call it good. Maybe even have Svetan take him on instead since the man was a lot better at teaching then Shesha felt he'd ever be. It just wasn't in him to give so much of himself for the benefit of someone other then himself. Even thinking about it was just odd to him. The stuff that he was doing with Aqio just didn't count because he was doing that for himself as well since that Beast Lord b*****d had dared to leave a scar upon Shesha's precious skin. The man deserved all of Shesha's ire and then some.
Tea was over soon enough, with Shesha and Svetan heading out after the woman and her child were picked up by a pair of bodyguards. Once they were done and gone Shesha turned to look at Svetan and said, "Really, old man? You think I want to take on a student? I know what I am like. Surely you're better built for it?"
Svetan gave a laugh, "I didn't really think you'd agree but figured I'd leave it open as an option. Lady Hiliia is a rather rich woman after all and I thought that she might be your type." He said in a teasing voice, "Time will tell if I take him on as a student or not. Depends on if I am still busy with the spoiled princess that I am currently dealing with." A comment that had Shesha giving a little huff as the two of them headed for home.
