Everything felt funny, and he wasn't quite sure why. The bed he slept on regularly felt shorter for some reason, and pink tresses that once just passed his forehead were tickling his nose, or so he thought. Though he was under the impression that he was mistaken, he most certainly was not. Grumbling softly, he curled himself more tightly into the covers, the wings on his ankles fluttering softly when they were exposed, before snuggling back up against his legs for warmth. He shivered softly when he realized his legs were uncovered, and therefore sat up to adjust his blankets once again.
This time, however, he was conscious enough to notice what exactly had been so off. Longer fingers twitched softly, eyes widening beneath the bangs that had grown to reach his eyes, pink hair tickling his shoulders softly as he just stared at legs that were longer, wings that were larger, and a tail that reached further than it once had. He bit at his lip -a habit he'd earned from his sister- and was about to call for her when he stopped.
He'd just grown. He didn't need any help with anything, none of it was scary, and there was no reason why he should bother his older sister -who was pregnant and really needed her rest- to come into his room and see that he'd gotten any bigger. The attention was unneeded and he didn't want to waste anyone's time. Tri-coloured eyes fell to the floor beside his bed, and he kicked off his colours to stand haphazardly, both of his arms and his tail trying to keep himself balanced as he started walking experimentally across his room, back and forth and back again. He would get used to such a height eventually, he was sure of it. Maybe.

I'm Starting to Understand... - MSN RP with fallingUPstairs__x x
Lironax was half-running to keep from being pulled over by his father, who was too busy muttering angrily about something to notice the predictament the much-smaller boy was in. Lir didn't mind, however, nor did he raise his voice in complaint; Silas was always like this when he came out of the therapist's office. Apparently he didn't like going there much, so why he continued to go back there baffled the young boy. As he was basically dragged through the dull halls, he by chance glanced through one of the windows in the doors. And softly gasped in surprise. He sure looked bigger, but there was no mistaking that pink hair; his friend Aludra was sitting in one of those rooms! He hadn't seen him in... well, longer than he could remember. In a rare moment of resistance, Lironax nimbly moved his wrist out of Silas' grasp and went up to the door, slipping inside it before his 'father's' protests could reach his ears.
"Hi 'Ludra! 'S me, Lironax, 'member?" the boy called across the room, ignoring the astonished looks he got from the other people. Aludra took up too much of his attention.
Aludra kicked his legs boredly in the small room, feeling like a pet in a glass case; the goldfish bowl windows really weren't helping, either. He sighed to himself softly, tail waving back and forth idly, stuck through the hole in the back of the folding metal chair. His foster father had brought him here fourty-five minutes too early, but he wasn't going to comment on that. Besides, it didn't really matter; he had nowhere else that important to be, and no one would really want to see him that bad, would they? Perhaps he'd thought too soon. Aludra stiffened at the sound of Lironax's adorably girlish voice, the wings on his ankles flaring out dramatically. Immediately, his name being the one that had been said, the few pairs of eyes in the room settled on him. Automatically, his eyes dropped to the floor, his face heating up slightly at all the attention, even if it technically wasn't all that much. He gestured the now-younger boy closer to him, tugging him close and patting his head softly. At least he had a sort of life raft now, someone to cling to given his father had to leave him here so that he would be able to do whatever it was that Noah did with his time. "Remember Lir'nax. 'Ludra's, remember?" he said, a soft smirk on his face at that thought. He wasn't even sure why the boy had complied with belonging to someone, especially someone like HIM, but it definitely gave him that odd, prickly warm feeling inside when he was able to say it and have the other boy not object...
Lironax smiled in open joy when he learned that Aludra still recognized him. What with his new, bigger-looking self, he might have forgotten. The toddler quickly scrambled onto his friend's lap, completely oblivious to how odd that might seem to others, and flapped his wing happily. His tentacle busied itself with playing with the topmost feathers of Aludra's anklewings. Lir nodded eagerly at his friend's statement. "Mhmm, I 'members that! Dat was de day you taughted me to plays chess, too!" He looked around the room for a few moments, taking in his new surroundings and noticing Silas smacking his face with his palm outside the door. When he glanced back at the bigger spawn, he started lightly and peered closely at his face "You okays, 'Ludra? Yer face's all reddy, like when you gets fever." Without invitation, the Lust child put the back of his hand on Aludra's head, just like Silas had done when he had gotten sick.
Aludra's face brightened a bit, only to be overshadowed once more when that blasted game was mentioned once again, his eyebrows knitting in thoughtfulness. It was his talent at that stupid game that had him stuck in some weird group-therapy thing, where he really didn't want to be, but if they said he had problems, then he obviously did; no real reason to argue. The wings of the older boy's ankles twitched slightly when they were played with, and the boy himself shifted under the weight of his friend, the close proximity making his face heat up even further for reasons he wasn't completely sure of, himself. When the other put a hand to his forehead, he let out a gentle growl, not loud enough for anyone but Lironax to hear. The Humility boy batted away Lir's hand and pouted ever-so-slightly, face burning with embarrassment, especially given his crush was sitting on his lap in a room full of people who were all staring at the two of them. "Staring makes his face red," he commented in a hushed voice, 'his' referring to himself and his own face. "Not sick."
Lironax started lightly at the batting, remembering how not-touchy-feely the older boy had been and apparantly still was. The growl scared him just the teensiest bit, and his tentacle retracted, now opening and closing a pocket on Aludra's pants. Hopefully he would be okay with that. The toddler grinned gently and nodded. "Das good. Being sick is no fun, 'specially when yah can't breeve frew yer nose. I had a sick like dat." He took a few breaths through a pretend stuffed up nose to demonstrate, then glanced around the room once more before asking another question. He was always full of them. "Why are you in here, 'Ludra? Are you in here for ferapee? Dat's why my daddee comes, but he doesn't seem to like et very much." Lironax shook his head seriously, recalled the raised voices he had heard just earlier that day. He hoped Aludra wasn't going to start yelling like that; it would definitely be a scary sight.
Aludra nodded a couple times at the other boy's description of the sick that he claimed wasn't very fun, tri-coloured eyes trained on the tentacle that was manage to button and unbotton one of his pockets, a surprising feat without thumbs or even fingers. Though, he supposed, had he been born with tentacles rather than hands, he would be used to doing such things without thumbs or fingers. He shrugged lazily at the second question before giving a light sigh. "'Have-ee-or ther'py," Aludra stated in response, gesturing at the paranoid or angry or otherwise-emotional kids sitting around the room. He was kinda glad that Lir seemed to talk a decent amount of the time, it usually left him less room to slip a word in, which was the opposite of what he wanted to do. "Had chess, beat six-grader. People clap for'n'pliment. 'Ludra not like, so got angry. School sent him here," the boy said softly, an explanation of exactly why he was here, as he knew that that would be one of the next questions if it wasn't answered immediately.
Lironax nodded wisely as his therapy theory was confirmed, inwardly excited to finally be on the inside of one of these things. He always was made to wait outside when Silas went to therapy, so he never had gotten to see what all the yelling was about. He cocked his head curiously at Aludra's story, and sighed, which was accompanied by an almost-sad smile. He didn't like that his friend didn't enjoy being told he was good, but at the same time, it was silly of those people to clap for him. They should have known better. He patted Aludra's arm sympathetically. "Das dumb of de people to do. But you shouldn't get too angree wiv dem, 'Ludra. Dey just wanchoo to know dat dey like yah!" Lir smiled encouragingly, having (in his mind) solved everything. "So, when's dah yellin gonna start?"
Aludra gave a soft growl at the boy when his arms was pat, smacking it away gently, if only because he was in the presense of other people and didn't want to get in any more trouble than he was already in. "Shouldn't like," he stated, tone brooking little-to-no argument, but that was always enough for the stupidly persistent patience child to attempt to slip through, get in a word that wouldn't at all chance Aludra's mind anyway. "Yelling...?" the little boy questioned, peering at his friend with complete confusion written all over his face. There was yelling here...? What? How would that help anyone get better...?
Lironax flinched when his tentacle was smacked away, but didn't say anything. It hadn't hurt, after all, and Aludra was always doing things like that. 'Sides, it was his fault for not remembering that Aludra didn't like to be touched. He simply smiled lightly and shrugged, dangling his feet off of Aludra's lap. "'Kay, I'll try. But it'll prolly be hard."
The Patience child nodded at his friend's question. "Yeah, yellin'! Whenever my daddee goes tah ferapee, dere's always yellin.'" Lir looked around the room, trying to contain his excitement. "'N I nevah got tah see why 'ntil now, eivver."
Aludra shook his head, a frown on his face as he inspected the carpet, head leaned against Lir's arm, which was easily pinned against his side with Aludra's arms wrapped like a seatbelt around the Patience child's waist. "Doesn't want yelling..." he muttered softly. After all, since his growth, he'd loathed attention even more. If everyone started yelling, he was going to leave. It was with that soft statement that a very curvatious redhead walked into the room, and his gaze sharpened, his grip around his best friend's waist tightening protectively. And, of course, this was the FIRST thing to attract the woman's attention. She smiled in a sickeningly sweet way, heels clicking obnoxiously as she walked over, leaning down to eye-level with the Greed demon. "Now, Aludra, you're not allowed to have anyone else with you unless they're a relative," she said in a voice that was meant to be for very young children, and seemed taken aback when she got a growl in response. "Is brother. Go talk," he stated plainly. That was what she was here to do anyway, wasn't it?
When Aludra leaned his head in, Lir instinctively leaned his in as well, and he nodded solemnly. "Yeah, it's not vury fun tah listen to. But Daddee never tells me what happens, so I-" Lir was cut off by the appearance of the therapist, and looked up, staring in soft wonder. She was very pretty, but something about the way Aludra tightened his hold on him made Lir a little afraid of her. This feeling only increased when she came closer, and Lir leaned into Aludra, increasing the appearance of them being related whether he knew it or not. He was relieved when she hmmphed in a very not-nice way and marched off to go talk to one of the other people in the room. "Who's dat?" he asked quietly, lest the scary woman hear him and throw him out or eat him or something.
Rather subconsciously, Aludra stroked his fingertips up and down part of Lir's arm protectively, his gaze still sharp on the woman as she went around and had little tiny problems with every child; something they were doing, something they shouldn't have, blahblahblah. By the end of all of that, three children without problems had left, and even some of the parents had gone, trusting their children to behave. Stupid people. "Is ther'pist," Aludra whispered back, tri-coloured eyes being dominated by what was usually a reclusive red around the outer edges of his irises. His tail flicked back and forth in a very predatory manner, almost as though if someone tried to touch him, HE would try to tear their arm off. With his teeth.
"Alright then," the woman stated sweetly as she stood at the 'front' of the room, clasping her hands together and glancing about with a weirdly unreal smile. "So, today we're going to discuss what sorts of things you hold dear to you-" Aludra's hand ceased its movement, instead grabbing onto Lir's arm rather tightly. "-and whether or not that's a good thing. Today, we also have Aludra's younger brother, so we'll have him start!" she said in that chipper voice of her's, pointing a thin wand at Lir, the device seeming to have come out of thin air.
Lironax shivered lightly as Aludra stroked his arm, but it wasn't a bad shiver, like when he had gotten sick. In fact, he rather enjoyed it, and leaned in closer to Aludra until his entire body was wrapped up in the bigger one's arms. He didn't notice the anger that had come into his friend, and even if he had, it still felt safer with him than anywhere near that scary 'ferapist' lady.
He was suprised by being singled out by her; wasn't this therapy for Aludra, not him? The strong grip on his arm only made him suspect more terrifying things from the red-headed woman, and the boy shook his head soundlessly, closing his eyes and wrapping his tentacle tightly around Aludra's arm.
Jennifer gave a bit of a frown, before it went back to a smile and she chuckled in what could be a comforting way. "Come on, dear, it's not that bad; we don't bite," she said with a soft laugh, a few of the other kids glaring at the woman just as Aludra was, though without the lion-like gestures. Well, obviously; they didn't really have tails, did they? "At least give us your name, would you sweetheart?"
"Name is Lir'nax," Aludra stated, already one jump ahead, his heart pounding with a strange worry about the little boy he was holding tightly against his chest. He wasn't at all sure what exactly made him fret so much about this, but it was apparent that he cared for Lironax a bit more than the average person cared about most... people.
"Alright, thanks for that, Aludra," Jenny stated, though she seemed a little irritated about it as she wrote the little boy's name down under the last person on the list - Aludra, of course, last one to speak up on their first meeting. "Now, we'll start with you, I suppose. What sorts of things do you hold dear?" Aludra looked skeptic for a moment, watching the woman, before letting his gaze fall, trembling softly at the eyes that he could FEEL on himself. He didn't like that feeling. He didn't like being the center of attention. "Green. Lir'nax. Big sister, 'Dhara. Ribbons. Glitter. Fluff. Sewing. Chess. Lotion. Pants... green pants."
Lironax was very grateful to Aludra for speaking for him and saving him from just shaking his head again. He didn't want to speak to this woman, even if it meant that he would be taken outside and not able to sit in Aludra's lap anymore. He watched Aludra curiously as he listed off things he held dear in his short words. He could feel the eyes staring at them as well, and also noticed how 'Ludra seemed almost afraid at all of the attention he was recieving. Or at least he was trembling. This made Lir feel sad and bad in a strange way; it was because he didn't want to talk that Aludra had had to. Taking a bit of a deep breath and gathering up his convictions, the toddler spoke in a small voice. "Um, 'Ludra don't like bein' paid too much 'ttention to, so maybe please you could look somew're else?"
As would be expected, the attention remained on Aludra, but shifted slightly, now more on the person in his lap. The Greed boy gave a soft growl, toes curling inside his canvas sneakers. His grip tightened slightly on the smaller boy's arms, and he tried to keep his voice at a lower tone as he growled, "Shuddup, Lir'nax. Is fine."
"Well, as true as that may be, Lironax, this group is to help him get over that, as well as a bad temper that centers around self-confidence," Jennifer explained, trying to keep the words to what the toddler would understand, though she was pretty sure most of it would go right over his head. She looked up slightly, at Aludra who was biting at one of his lips nervously, a habit that he'd gotten from his sister. All the things he held dear were written out on the board, and she was once again talking to everyone. "Now, can anyone see anything wrong with any of these? Keeping in mind, these are supposed to be things that Aludra holds VERY dear to himself."
Lironax winced as his arm were gripped harder, and he looked over his shoulder at Aludra in confusion. He was only trying to help! And how could it be fine if Aludra didn't like it? That was /never/ fine. He wanted to ask some of these questions, but under the gaze of all of the other children, he simply squirmed and sat silently. It was really uncomfortable being in therapy; no wonder his daddy When Jennifer asked her question, most of the children were silent for a moment, before a boy with black hair raised his hand, a superior kind of smile on his face. "Yes, Thomas?" the therapist asked. "Only /girls/ like most of those things," Thomas replied, crossing his arms and looking like he had just solved the mystery of the century.
Before Jennifer could reply, Lironax couldn't help but ask a question. "What's wrong wif dat?" He started a little at the sight of all of those eyes back on him again, but took in a deep breath and continued. "I mean, who says dat onlee gurls can like ribbons 'n' stuff like dat? I like em, too, 'n' I don't fink et's weird."
"Lir'nax just girlie," Aludra mumbled, mostly to the toddler in his lap more than anything. "Really girlie."
His eyes, however, were directed toward that Thomas kid, so full of himself and... really, really irritating. He gently ran a hand through Lir's hair, trying to get him to actually shut up, he could protect himself; he wasn't worth defending, anyway.
Aludra pointed to himself. "Is not a girl," he stated, before looking up at Jennifer, not hesitating to reveal things about his family that they probably didn't want everyone to know. "His baby brother and dad like other boys. 'Ludra spends more time with big sister 'Dhara more than other boys, but would be girlie anyway," he stated simply, causing the redhead to stare at him in surprise, obviously not expecting a reply like that.
"Oh... well... that does explain a few things, doesn't it?" she said, voice squeaking a little. Well, damn; there went her chance with the kid's guardian.
Lironax was growing more and more confused by this therapy thing. He looked between Thomas and Aludra, not sure precisely what was going on. He didn't know what was so wrong about liking things that he just liked, even if that made him 'girlie.' So uncomfortable was he that he flinched at the feeling of Aludra's hand going through his hair. Nothing made any sense anymore...
He listened silently to Aludra's explanation, and nodded in response to the therapist lady's question. Lir didn't really feel like speaking anymore; whenever he did, Aludra told him to be quiet, or the creepy lady came near him. His tentacle played with the edge of his pants nervously; he liked being around Aludra, especially when the other was holding him, but right now he was kind of hoping his daddy would come in and 'make' him come home. This was just too... not fun.
The rest of the session was about the same as it had been since the beginning, full of tension and awkward questions and uncomfortable answers from half the students, terribly excited answers from some, and horribly attention-grabbing, over-the-top depressed answers from other ones.
By the time it was over, and the woman had had a chance to get Aludra to admit that he wasn't actually related to Lir, the Greed child tugged his friend out of the room, looking very drained, and more sad than angry, which was rather unusual. Upon exiting the room, where parents and children were milling around, Aludra found Silas and wandered toward him, before turning toward Lir directly and leaning forward to rest his head against the younger boy's shoulder. "'Ludra is sorry. Was not fun. Shouldn't have let stay."
Every moment that he had to stay in the stuffy room with all of those weird children seemed to pass as fast as a snail, but Lironax made himself wait. It would be mean of him to just leave Aludra here all alone, even if he wasn't really helping...
When their lie was exposed, Lir had assumed that this was were the yelling would come in, but no, he was swept away by 'Ludra before that could happen. Thank goodness. He was relieved to see his daddy still waiting for him - Silas didn't like to wait long, so there was a possibility he had wandered off - but was surprised by the contact. Aludra usually wasn't so touchy-feely. Smiling kindly, the boy patted his friend on the head. "S' okay, 'Ludra. I liked seein' yah aneeways. 'Nd sittin' on yer lap," he added with a giggle.
At that point, Silas wandered over and looked at the pair of them, arms akimbo and one eyebrow raised. "Hello there, Aludra. Done kidnapping my son yet?" He smiled lightly, to take some of the sting out of it, but part of him was serious. They were supposed to be home, like, a freaking hour ago.
Aludra gave a soft sigh at the optomistic attitude of the other boy, shaking his head and giving a light smile, the occurance being rare, and EXTREMELY so when he was around Lironax. His face tinted a soft shade of pink when the Lir said that he'd liked sitting on Aludra's lap. Stupid...
Tri-coloured eyes glanced up at the presence of Lir's guardian that he finally noticed, and he gave a light glare, not taking humor like that as amusing at all. But, no, he was /not/ finished with Lir, but that didn't really matter, now did it. He hugged his friend around the waist, before letting go and giving him a light nudge toward Silas. "Is fine. Can have." He waved a bit, that oddly sad look still in his eyes. "Says 'bye', Lir'nax."
Lironax smiled into Aludra's shoulder when he was hugged, and hugged him back, hard. His tentacle looped as far around the other's waist as it would go, and his wing flapped as if it wanted to do the same thing. He was sad to go, even if the experience had been less than pleasant. "Bye-bye, 'Ludra! See you 'gain!"
Once he had said goodbye, Lir went very quiet, enough so that Silas asked him what was wrong. In a small voice, he replied, "Don't like ferapee, Daddee." Silas sighed, and patted his son's head. "No one does, son. That's why they make you go to it."

Aludra was finally used to his new height and other changes he'd experienced, and that morning had brought in another letter from Seven of Seven, offering it to his father and going back to sit in his room and practice writing on the chalkboard easel that his father had gotten him. He'd been told that if he improved his lettering enough that he would be able to take a test that would allow him into second grade. Along with that, though, he would need to get better at reading, which was his weakest area in school.
It was while he was doing this that his sister once again entered his room, a bright smile on her face and a clipboard in her hand. He stared at her for a moment, before pointing at her with the thin piece of white chalk that he was holding. "Look like tech," he stated plainly, before going back to his letters, only for his sister to giggle a bit and take a seat on his bed.
"I have a reason for that, I promise. And it doesn't involve any poking, either," she said with a soft smile. It didn't seem to catch her brother's attention, but she knew that he was listening. "In a couple days, we're going to visit your biological father- the virtue, I mean. His name is Cestoloria and he's the angel of Humility," she said with a soft smile as he seemed to perk up slightly, looking over his shoulder at her for a moment before nodding for her to go on, turning to continue working on his writing.
"Since dad's going to be working, I'll probably be taking you, and I was thinking that you might want to think of things that you would want to ask him or learn from him, given when I met one of my parents the first time, I got thrown off-track 'cause... I didn't plan anything about the meeting," she said, not wanting to mention the fact that she'd also wanted to stay with J'her given how sweet the woman had been acting toward her.
"What like?" the boy asked, wiping the board off with a piece of cloth that looked like the shirt that he'd been wearing that morning. His sister had another of those trays of food that she always had when she was going to be upstairs with her brother for a while, this one was a fruit tray, however, with a yoghurt dip in the center of it. She opened it, popping a piece of of pineapple in her mouth and swallowing it before she continued.
"For example... let's see if we can come up with a shorter name for him," she suggested, earning an approving nod from her little brother.
"Cesta... Cestalo... lor... Lor," the Humility child stated, shifting the chalk to his right hand and attempting to write his alphabet again, this time failing miserably at it, his letters looking like a mess of spaghetti that had been thrown everywhere. Erasing it again, he went back to using his left hand.
"Good idea. Now, you'll probably want to make sure to ask him if that's alright first, remember," she said with a nod, writing down on the piece of paper 'Is it alright if I call you 'Lor'?', given the paper was for Aludra in the long run. Of course, given the man was the angel of Humility, she really doubted that he would mind, just as Aludra honestly didn't seem to care what he was called. "Now, what else do you want to know?"

Aludra growled to himself, traipsing back and forth across his room and scraping tears from his eyes. He was... furious. Absolutely furious and he couldn't figure out why he felt like that. His room was in shambles, the possessions that he held so dearly shoved into a box that Noah had previously placed in there labeled 'Donations', hoping that his Greed demon of a son would actually want to give away some of his things. He probably didn't expect the other to have thrown nearly his entire room in there.
But there arose the problem, as tri-coloured eyes glanced over at his things, all of the bottles of lotion, the dreamcatchers, the scarves, the ribbons, even his ever-prized halo, Cestoloria's golden feather shimmering softly in the light. He didn't want to get rid of his things. He wanted to keep them, but what was he willing to sacrifice in order to feel he actually deserved those stupid things? All of these things were above him, were better than he was and- WHY WAS HE THINKING LIKE THAT?!
A growl grew in his throat and he pulled, hard, at his pink hair, strands falling away as he tried desperately to calm himself. Where was Lironax the one time that he was sure that he needed him? But- no. No, he didn't need Lironax. All he did when Lir was there was beat on him, hurt him though he knew that he shouldn't, because the boy was close and he knew he didn't deserve the affection. Because Lironax deserved the closeness of something better than him. He needed Lironax to hate him, and at the same time he needed him more than anything in this world.
Aludra bit down on his arm to keep from making any sound larger than a growl. He did not want his father anywhere near him, and he didn't want to worry his sister in the least. But there had to be some way to calm himself down, to make the red in his iris deplete to only the edges of the green colouration that had once signified his calmness and an innocence that he no longer believed that he possessed. He dropped to the ground, trembling slightly as he glared harshly down his legs, the wings on his ankles tensing and extending, just as his hands were.
"Lir'nax has only one..." he growled softly, glaring at his ankles as though it was their fault that he was so angry in the first place, so mixed up in his head as a fault of his terrible merging of DNA. He stood back up walking to his door, the red in his eyes receding back to the corners, a slight tremour in his gait as he positioned his left foot so that the wing, extended, would be in-between the door and the wall. Obviously, however, it remained pressed against his leg tightly, an unconscious effort of the brain to keep pain away. It was the same side where Lir had his wing. They would be half and half that way, right?
Aludra held his breath, biting into his lip harshly as he pulled the newly-installed door to his room open, forcing the wing on his ankle to stretch until it was partially outside the room itself. He closed his eyes tightly, breathing a bit ragged before he pulled in a breath, hand tightening on the doorknob. "Is not fair..." he murmured, and slammed the door.
