Aludra stared in awe at the large machine that was towering over him and the rest of the kids in his first grade class, his tail wagging back and forth excitedly. Unlike them, however, he was lingering for a very long time in each area, fingers itching to touch the vehicle yet unable to gather up the courage. The wings on his ankles fluttered when his teacher told him to keep up with the class, and he simply rolled his eyes, following after them with an irritated growl as the firefighter stood in the way of his view, explaining everything in stupid terms to the stupid kids that stood all around him. He hated this field trip; why couldn't he have just... gone here himself?

Bernard hadn't gotten around to enrolling the boys in school yet. He told himself it was because he was too busy. But he still managed to find time to take them on field trips frequently. Most had been to museums, but he decided it would be good for the kids to see something that would have more impact on them.
Overwhelmed by his surroundings, Teyr kept to the back of the group. There were lots of kids that seemed to know each other there already. Of course, he knew Zwei, but that wasn't quite the same. Rather than try to push his way into the group, he stayed with Ennea and held her hand. She was shy too.
Less concerned with such matters, Zwei quickly slithered into a space between two students, ignoring the looks he got from them. He wanted to be in a good place to see, and to listen as the firefighter showed them each part of the fire engine and how everything worked. He was similarly disillusioned with the kiddie terms the man used, but tried to pay careful attention anyway. Next to the Sparkle Rangers, these were the most heroic people he'd ever seen!

Aludra's tail curled back and forth as he let his eyes drift across the entire length of the large machine, barely paying any attention to what the man was saying, though a few things did manage to catch his attention before it wavered and then drifted off once again, this time being caught by a boy who was lingering behind about as much as he was, found from the corner of his eye, momentarily distracting him from wondering if he would actually manage to get a ride in this vehicle.
He peered at the brunette curiously, tail waving back and forth behind him as the wings on his ankles fluttered softly, something they tended to do every time he was around another spawn. He blinked a couple times, looking at the group behind him, and calmly walking toward the other, thinking the invisible thoughts that helped him to win hide-and-seek, though they didn't really make him invisible; people just seemed to notice him less when he decided in his mind that he didn't exist.
Breaking away from the group, he walked over to the other boy, peering up at him and tipping his head slightly, before waving with one of his hands, completely ignoring the fact that the boy's guardian existed at all.

Forgetting himself and the group, Teyr let out a sharp shriek. He hadn't been paying attention, and to him the strange boy practically came out of nowhere. When he remembered where he was, he turned to the firemen and the class and began his standard round of apologies, which lasted at least a full minute before Ennea calmed him down.
Once he was slightly calmer, he looked at Aludra, and the apologies came pouring out again, this time in whispers. "Sorrysorrysorry. Didn't mean to be loud." He took a breath, and then kept going. "Sorry. Wanted something?"

Aludra jumped at the sudden noise, stumbling backward with his tail curling between his legs as he steadied breathing that had quickened abruptly at the sudden sound. The wings on his ankles were flared as though trying to be intimidating despite their size, and those tri-coloured eyes of his were wide-wide open.
He gave a soft chuckle -a very surprising sound to anyone who may have known him prior; he almost never even smiled, let alone laughed- and dusted himself off, getting rid of the slight tremours that were caused by being so surprised. He waved a patchy hand dismissively at the multiple apologies. "Is fine, is fine," Aludra replied, voice equally as quiet. He shook his head at the question, tail finally creeping out from its scared position and swaying slowly behind him. "Didn't want. Curious," he noted, pointing to the boy himself, then the wings around his waist, then his eyes. "Is interesting."

Teyr flinched a little at the laugh, but awkwardly smiled in return. "Sorry," he whispered again, as if apologizing for apologizing would make things better. "Curious? For me?" The idea of someone being really interested in him didn't make a whole lot of sense. "Not really interesting," he admitted. "Brother more interesting." He pointed a finger at Zwei, who was probably one of the more unusual kids in the crowd.
Zwei had been glancing back to see what had set Teyr off. Once he saw it was just another kid, he relaxed slightly, but he didn't look away- not until he saw them looking at him. Then he frowned and carefully began to study the fire engine again. There was no use in getting distracted. The other kid looked harmless, and he had work to do.

Aludra nodded, always answering rhetorical questions as he usually did, despite the fact that they were just a restatement of a previously quoted phrase, said as a question. "MmHmm. Is curious," he stated, glancing up at the interesting eyes of the Gluttony boy with a bit of a smile on his surprisingly innocent face.
He blinked at the mention of a brother, turning to look at the one the other male was pointing to. Tipping his head, a few strands of pink hair fell across his eyes, before he shook his head, gesturing toward the other male. "Haleriun looks like," he commented, trying to make a point that his brother looked a bit like the others brother, though with different colours and a few other... differences.
"Err, Haleriun is little brother," he stated with a nod, before a slight, embarrassed blush crossed his face at the realization that he hadn't introduced himself. He pointed toward himself. "Name is Aludra," he stated, smiling weakly and extending a hand. "Is glad to meet."

Teyr was still inclined to disagree, but he couldn't think of a polite way to do so. Still, he squirmed uncomfortably under the watchful eye of the other boy. Even though his intentions were not to make Teyr nervous, he couldn't help but feel weird when someone else seemed to expect something from him. He was sure he would let him down.
At least when they were talking about brothers, Teyr was enthusiastic. "Zwei is bigger brother," he said. "Name is Teyr. Glad to meet Aludra," he agreed, going through the motions of greeting and shaking hands as he was taught. Quickly, however, he shifted the subject back. "How littler is brother?" If the subject was someone else, he could talk much more comfortably.

"Glad to meet, too," Aludra replied with a smile, filing the name away in the back of his mind. Thankfully, that boy's name was surprisingly easy, whereas many other people he knew had weird, complicated names. He didn't like whoever named those poor kids who could barely pronounce their own names.
"Haley is... still toddler. Not too much littler in age, but is small in size," he commented, holding one hand a little bit above his waist. Of course, his brother's entire body was at least as long as Aludra's. He just always held himself really low, and sulked a lot. "Haley can't hear t'all, so talks with hands," he said, nodding, thinking on other things that were interesting about his brother.
"Is snakey," he stated, and then made gestures to signify a 'coon mask around his eyes, and then spiraling stripes down his arms. "Has gold mask'n'stripies. Rest is black scales," he said with a firm nod of his head. He quirked his head to the side with interest, tail waving back and forth. "Teyr have any other siblings?"

"Glad to meet too-" Teyr said, then stopped suddenly. Hadn't they been through that before? He blinked and looked up at the ceiling, not quite trusting himself to say anything that was worth saying for a few moments.
At least the brother topic was a safe one; Teyr had no objections to talking about other people. They were worth saying good things about. "Not-so-littler brother," he clarified. "Can't hear? How can talks with hands?" He looked at his own hands, wondering if the answer would come to him, but it did not. "Hands can talk?"
Upon hearing the description of this brother, Teyr had to admit that he sounded a lot like Zwei, at least with the scales and stripes. "Zwei is stripey too," he said excitedly, but then his face fell. Of course, since Zwei was right there, Aludra didn't need to hear him described. "Uh. No more," he answered quietly, "just Zwei. Is enough."

Aludra nodded placidly. Yes, it was enough description of the other male, he decided, tri-coloured eyes glancing over toward the snakey boy who looked absolutely enthralled with the firetruck and the firefighters that were talking about it. He flicked his tail back and forth as he went over the questions in his head.
"Nah, hand's can't talk. Would be silly," he noted, shaking his head a bit. "Talks like... way that moves hands means diff'rent words," he said with a bit of a nod, wondering if he was even making any sense. "Like..." he made his hand flat and curved his thumb into his palm, rubbing the side of his pointer finger down his cheek. "Is sign for brown," he said, nodding a couple times. He didn't really know that much ASL, though, unfortunately, or he would have been glad to teach as much as he could to this new friend of his.

"Yeah, silly," Teyr echoed, mentally kicking himself for even entertaining the notion. He also glanced at Zwei for a moment, then looked up at the ceiling again. But he didn't have long to berate himself, genuinely fascinated by Aludra's demonstration. That was amazing. "All words have hand-words?" he asked, trying to imitate the one he'd seen. "Wow!"
Despite the fact that he was watching the firefighters, Zwei noticed that they were watching at him again. Frowning, he looked back and saw Teyr doing something weird with his hands. The frown still etched on his face, he quietly slithered back out of the crowd and towards the pair. "What're you doing?" he asked crossly. "'Sposed to watch, not talk to strangers!"

Aludra smiled a bit at the other's interest, tail swishing back and forth happily behind him. "Not all. Most long words just have short words to mean same thing," he replied, feeling like a dictionary as he spouted out what he knew about ASL from his younger brother and the strange person who taught him. "Names and really long words are fingerspelled," he added.
"Is an alphabet in sign language. Makes names and things eas-" Aludra was cut off when the snakey male came up to the two of them, frowning softly at the irritation of the other. But it was him, after all. He didn't care about the stupid fire trucks or what the people in front of them were saying. But he was well aware that he'd found a friend in Teyr, which was a bond that he would protect 'til death. "Was just talking. Is not wrong as long as they're not disturbing people who want to listen," he stated simply, arms folding across his chest as he turned to face the other.
Maybe such a challenging pose wasn't the best to use against a Justice child.

"Ahhh." Teyr tried to make the symbol with his hands again, but froze when he spotted Zwei. "Sorry!" he blurted automatically. "Didn't mean-"
"Shhh," Zwei hissed, no longer interested in what Teyr was doing. He was more concerned with the new kid who thought breaking the rules was right. Folding his arms, he gave Aludra his bossiest look. "Here to watch, listen, not to talk," he explained. "Talking comes later. Should be watching now."
Of course, that meant he should be watching too, and he would again. As soon as he straightened this mess out.

Aludra had definitely decided that he didn't like this snakey-child. Even his little brother had his moments, but none of them were ever this bad. Aludra glared back a bit, concerned more about Teyr at this point than he was about himself, just as he usually was. As had once been said 'I may not believe in what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it'. This was the phrase that Aludra practically lived by, in action, in speech, in beliefs, in any of it. He would defend any of his friends' choices in action or anything else that they wanted to do, really.
"Then why isn't he watching, listening," Aludra stated, pointing toward Zwei. "Long as he'n'everyone pays attention, 'Ludra 'n'Teyr won't cause troubles, 'cause will stay quiet," he said in his and Teyr's own defense. "'Sides, big sister said can come see 'trucks anytime one wants. Doesn't need to pay 'ttention this time if can pay 'ttention next. Should not be so angry with Teyr, anyway, was 'Ludra who started talking." He looked toward Teyr and gave a bit of a smile. "Should not feel bad. Is 'Ludra's fault."
