Aludra growled softly under his breath, something that seemed only to be a habit that he carried around the stupid Lust / Patience child he'd taken with him to the mall that day. What, he couldn't help it; the 'boy's' father was irritating to no end and always got angry about the dresses that Aludra had been given Lir recently. What was he supposed to do? Lir wanted them, and no matter how much he loved his own possessions, he had no real need for them.

Grumbling softly, he pulled the leather jacket a bit more tightly around his torso, emerging from the changing stall with his tail lashing, shirt clenched tightly in a clawless fist. Tri-coloured eyes looked around for a moment, before catching Lironax not all that far away, standing in front of a mirror and holding up dresses that were still on the hanger against his body. Marching over, Aludra dropped the shirt to the ground for a moment and extended his arms in a very sarcastic gesture. "Is happy?"

Lironax had been addicted to shopping for clothes since he was first introduced to the concept, and so when Aludra had offered to take him to the mall, he had jumped at the opportunity. It had gotten even better when he had convinced his humble friend to try on a thing or two for himself, which had taken almost a full hour to do. But the boy was sure the effort would pay off in the end; all he had to do was wait. Which would be quite simple, for there were still dresses he had to look over.

At Aludra's sarcastic comment, Lir whipped around excitedly, and literally jumped for joy at the sight of his friend in that leather jacket. He knew it would have suited him perfectly. His tentacle stretched out to adjust a bit of the collar that was flopping over, then he nodded repeatedly. "Definitely! You look so cool in that, Aludra! Look, come see!" Without preamble, the boy gently took the other by the wrist and stood him in front of the mirror. In all honesty, it was unlikely that Aludra would share his opinion, but perhaps he would at least consider it. The black really did go with his favorite green pants...

"This way, 'Ryn," Litural called over his shoulder, glancing back at the little red-head who toddled along after him through the clothing racks.

"Lit?" came a confused little squeak, the girl pausing as she realized he was farther ahead of her than expected.

The older spawn sighed, rolling all three of his mismatched eyes, "I'm right here, Auryn...just walk forward."

He didn't understand how he got stuck in this situation, but there was nothing Litural could do about it now; Santana dropped them off, saying he'd be back in an hour or so, and that Auryn was to listen to Litural until then. Which wasn't such a hard task, Lit supposed...after all, Auryn was well behaved and didn't question anything he told her to do.

The hard part came about when he remembered 'Ryn couldn't see him...and he was still so very sensitive about being touched. He couldn't hold her hand like Santana did, so the pair had to rely purely on sound to keep together. And up until now, it had worked fine...but there was a lot around them now to distort his voice and confuse the poor girl.

"Li-it?" Auryn said again, sounding scared, her feet shuffling towards where she thought she heard voices.

At home, it wasn't so bad; 'Ryn had become really comfortable with the apartment and could find her way about easily. But this was different...this wasn't home, and Lit wouldn't hold her hand through the racks. So Auryn just kept going towards where she thought she'd heard his voice.

By the time Lit realized she wasn't walking in the right direction, 'Ryn had found the break in the clothes that opened up to the changing area where Lironax and Aludra where. She heard people talking, but neither of them sounded or felt like her "older brother".

"Lit'ral?" she questioned to no one and everyone, brows furrowed over her pale blind eyes in worry.

Aludra growled under his breath, attempting to backpedal as he was pushed toward the mirrors, his face turning red in either embarrassment, shame, or anger, it was unclear which. "Does not want see, Lir'nax!!" he whined irritably, slamming his eyes shut as they reached the reflective object, crossing his arms in a huff and shaking his head, pink tresses falling out of place and across his scaley-patched face.

"Is not looking," he narrated to the other boy, cracking his eyes open only slightly to glare at the younger boy. It was just the right time to see another child, this one obviously neither Lironax or his reflection. His gaze softened almost immediately, and he jumped off from the little step-stool-thing in front of the three-piece mirror, and took a step toward the little girl, placing the tips of his fingers softly on one of her scaled shoulders, tail waving softly behind him. "Is lost...?"

Much like he had expected, Lironax met a veritable wall of resistance when he tried to show Aludra his reflection. However, rather than snap at his friend for being so stubborn, he merely sighed and swept a piece of his bubblegum hair out of his face. He even chuckled lightly at the comment. "Yeah, I can see that, 'Ludra." Even as he did so, Lir was a little wary of the other; he didn't want to get randomly smacked for showing affection towards him. Aludra tended to not like that at all.

However, his attention was diverted by the appearance of a small girl, heralded by Aludra. Lironax turned around and stood beside Aludra, kneeling down to the little girl's level. "I think she is, Aludra. People don't normally let girls this small wander on their own." Not knowing she was blind, the boy smiled kindly. "Hi there, little lost girl. I'm Lir, and this is Aludra. Did you lose your family?"

Auryn shifted uncomfortably as she felt someone come up in front of her...not exactly pulling away from the touch on her shoulder, but it made her jump considerably. In a knee-jerk reaction, her stubby little fingers reached out to feel the hand and the arm attached to it.

"Lit?" she asked...but quickly the hopeful shine on her face was replaced as she realized this was not her baby-sitter. "Not Lit," she stated, though she wouldn't remove her hands from the stranger unless pushed away.

Her attention would be drawn to the second voice who spoke to her, much more on her level than the one who had touched her. Lose her family? Auryn whined softly, feeling so lost; she could sense these new people around her, and she knew Lit was out there somewhere...but not knowing where he was bothered her.

Litural, meanwhile, was cursing under his breath as he tried to locate the little girl. He was searching around and under everything, calling for Auryn with a rising sense of urgency.

"Auryn? 'Ryn, come on...this isn't funny anymore!" he huffed, feeling his wings fluff in agitation and a funny, familiar burn starting to boil in the pit of his stomach.

He didn't yet realize he had gone in a totally opposite direction than her.

Aludra pouted softly at Lironax's statement about how people didn't let toddlers wander out on their own. Yeah, but they got away sometimes; he was a prime example of such a phenomenon happening rather regularly. He stiffened slightly at the comment, but let it slip. The girl wasn't as bad as Lir and his stupid constant need to be way too close. Slowly, the Humility boy tipped his head to the side softly, peering at the girl with a steady interest, but it was those pale eyes of her's that caught his attention.

The wings on his ankles fluffed up a bit, and his tail waved either way, as he took the hand that she wasn't touching, he dragged it across what should have been her line of vision. No reaction. He blinked in surprise; he hadn't thought that his suspicion would be right, but he supposed having a little brother who was deaf and stuck at a school with sense-disabled children, he'd sort of gotten used to subtle difference between such things. He squatted down, now more the girl's height as he frowned softly.

"Is blind?" he asked bluntly. This was one of those times that he thought it might be really nice to be able to speak in first person, or at the very least, speak in complete sentences properly. Stupid mouth-words. Stupid Aludra.

Lironax watched closely as Aludra passed his hand in front of the girl's face, and was surprised to see that she didn't seem to notice it at all. He would have been severely confused had his friend not been there to clear it all up. The boy nodded; Aludra was really smart like that.

Lir's heart went out to the lost girl when she whined, particularly with the new angle of her revealed. It must be terrible to not have a clue where you're going or where your family is. Tentatively, not wanting to scare the girl but having the light urge all the same, he reached out with his tentacle and patted her softly on the head, talking as kindly as he could. "No, we're not Lit, little girl. But, if you want, we could help you look for him."

Even as he said it, Lir recognized a problem in his promise: how were they supposed to find a person when the girl wouldn't even know what they looked like? Still, it wasn't like he could go back on the promise, and her chaperon had to be around here somewhere. He glanced hopefully at Aludra, hoping he would be able to think of something clever.

"Lit'ral," Auryn said softly, her whole body slumping at the gentle words of the voice identified as Lir.

Her fingers curled around Aludra's wrist, not tight but firm in her simple need for support. She sniffled softly, her nose already starting to run by the time the tears swelled up into her sightless eyes. The whine from earlier came back with a vengeance, exiting her mouth in a piercing wail. She was crying, as all lost children did, her face turning a deeper shade of red than her hair and the whites of her eyes becoming as pink as the irises.

Litural heard it from across the store and nearly took down a display of jeans in his abrupt about face.

"Auryn!" he called out, following the sobs.

He came threw a rack of shirts, stopping dead in his tracks when he saw the girl standing with the two younger boys.

"'Ryn?" he said, breathless, with his main eyes looking at the girl and his third glaring death back and forth between Lir and Aludra.

"What're you doing to her?" he snapped, louder than he probably needed to.

Auryn's head whipped around at the familiar voice, and she yanked herself away from Aludra, crying all the way over to where Lit stood. Throwing her arms around his knees, she buried her face into his pant leg, sniffling and sobbing in incoherent bursts.

Litural's reaction was a heavy flinch at the contact from the girl, and his knuckles turned white from strain as he fought every urge to push her away and attack the two. He was positively bristling, each breath exhaled as a growl, and his internal war on the next course to take was apparent in every fiber of his body.

He really just wanted to push her off and eat the boys' faces...but that definitely wouldn't have been the smart thing to do.

Aludra almost immediately started wracking his brain; how were they supposed to find someone for a girl who was completely blind...? Well, he supposed it would be kinda like how they had to find his little brother when Hale wandered off; they couldn't use their voices because he couldn't hear, they had to rely on everything else. She couldn't see, so...

"Lit'ral... know what sounds like? Feels like 'nywhere? Uhh... know what-" Aludra winced hard at the wail, entire body stiffening slightly as his eyes widening. Oh, crap.

"Shh, shh, is okay, will find!" he blathered, attempting to comfort the little girl best he could without touching her aside from the hand on her shoulder, knowing that wouldn't be a comfort. The next few things that happened took the little boy completely off guard, and by the time he was completely sure what was going on, he hand one hand wrapped possessively around Lironax's wrist, both of those tri-coloured eyes glaring right back at the older male as his tail flicked back and forth defensively.

"Were doing nothing," he stated harshly, voice nearly a growl. Sure, for himself, he wouldn't have gone through this much of an effort to prove anything. Of course, it was Lir he was protecting here as well; that was where the anger came from. He gestured toward the girl.

"Was lost. Lir'nax 'n' 'Ludra did nothin'. Was left behind. Who did that?" he asked, much more accusing that he probably should have been; bad idea, especially given this boy -a Wrath boy, no less- was a lot older than him. Oh, well.

It was Aludra's funeral.

There was no use denying it: Lironax was pretty much terrified by the appearance of Litural. Not only was he much bigger than either him or Aludra, but he looked extremely angry at both of them. His first instinct was, as it seemed to always have been, hide behind Aludra. His friend was much better at confrontation than him.

However, it seemed that Aludra's common sense had taken a short - and extremely ill-timed - vacation, for the Greed spawn took this opportunity to actually accuse Litural of abandoning Auryn. Lironax practically gaped at his friend; what on Earth was he thinking?! At this rate, Auyrn's scary guardian was going to make mincemeat out of both of them. Within a few seconds, the boy realized that it was he who was going to have to get things straightened out here. Taking in a deep breath, he patted Aludra's arm with his tentacle, muttering "Aludra, hush," under his breath. He probably would get some crap for taking control of the situation later, but at least they wouldn't be destroyed. He attempted to hide his trembling as he addressed the older Wrath child.

"Um, s-sorry, Litural, sir, but we- we really didn't do anything to her. She was just scared because she was lost, and she missed you." He squatted down to address the crying Auryn, although he wisely didn't get any closer to her. That would have been hard, anyway, as Aludra had his wrist in a death-grip. "We were just going to help her find you. Right, Auyrn?"

Words cannot convey how much he hoped that the little girl said yes.

Indeed, Aludra's reaction was a dangerous one to take with Lit. He could see the red rim of anger starting to create a haze around his vision, his wings flexing out a bit in an intimidating fashion; it was meant to make him look larger, more threatening, and it worked quite well.

"What did you say, you little gnat?" he snarled, feeling spit gather in his mouth, foaming as he spoke.

It was Lironax that stopped the lounge and even then he was almost too far gone. Almost, but he brought Litural's attention back to the child at his side, remembering she was there, ragged breaths coming out of his lungs as he scrambled to regain his composure.

Because Auryn looked terrified. She had backed off from Lit, having never felt such rage from him before. Annoyance at her presence, anger in general, sure...but not something like this. She clutched her pudgy hands at her lip, chewing a finger while she gave a sniffle.

"Scary," she whimpered, having heard Aludra's words, but too startled to respond to them now.

The aforementioned death grip on Lironax's wrist only tightened further when the other stepped in front, Aludra's tail lashing back and forth, as though he was somehow under the impression that he would be able to take the definitely older male on, which was, literally, impossible. Some part of him seemed to know that, but at the same time, some part of him wanted to prove that he was better than what his Humility side always dictated; apparently, that wasn't going to happen. Which was a better idea in the long run.

As the older male stretched out his wings, bristling at the blame for Auryn's getting lost, Aludra growled softly, crouching down as though preparing to defend himself, nails raking over Lir's skin as he pulled his hand back, setting it to the floor along with the other, the green in his irises submitting to the red that normally surrounded it. He pulled himself back, tail lashing to either side, before he was stopped by a small voice that he wasn't yet accustomed to hearing.

"Scary..." was the word that emerged from the little girl, causing Aludra to blink in surprise, knocked out of his temporary stupor by the little girl's voice, slowly moving back to sit on his haunches, still crouched down, but no longer looking as though he was going to attack her brother. The wings on his ankles flapped a bit, and he reached out toward the girl, not moving at all, just offering what he could of comfort, though he was sure that he wasn't really that comforting a creature.

"Is 'kay, 'Ryn," he noted, voice quiet as he tried to keep from either attacking Litural or, perhaps, himself once again. But he wasn't going to do that, especially not in a crowded store in front of complete strangers. "See, is not scary now. Just before." The child glanced up toward the Wrath boy, the red receding to the edges of his irises once again. "Lit'ral is better, too. See?"
PostPosted: Thu May 14, 2009 8:58 pm

Much as Lironax had predicted, him taking the reins in this confrontation didn't bode well with Aludra, as his wrist got squeezed even harder, causing him to wince. But still, he didn't back down, or even really move from the spot, even when Aludra's nails dragged painfully across his skin, making him gasp quietly. Some part of his brain that wasn't busy coping with the pain or the fear of Litural wondered almost idly what had gotten into Aludra to make him so violent.

But as soon as it had appeared, the spell had past. His wrist was no longer in a death grip, and it didn't seem like there was going to be a full-fledged brawl in the middle of the store. Lironax breathed a heavy sigh of relief, and crouched down beside Aludra, replying to his question for Auryn's benefit. "Yeah, he certainly looks better." Smiling nervously up at the Wrath child, he hesitated for a moment, then stated something that had been on his mind since he had first seen Lit.

"You have really pretty wings."

Litural wasn't the best at dealing with any emotion other than anger, and this new found protectiveness over the littler spawn was something that he was still very much getting used to. Crouching down, his winced visibly as Auryn backed off from him. Oh man, what had he done? She was going to be terrified of him now.

"Auryn...'Ryn, c-come on, kid...i-it's ok. Are y-you ok?" he stuttered, trying to calm his nerves down.

"Lit'ral angry," the girl meeped, looking to Aludra and Lir, sniffling. "Nice boys...find 'Ryn."

Litural didn't move to reach for her, but being down on the ground he was able to hear and observe the other boys a little better. He glanced at them, realizing with his anger slowly subsiding that they were just children a little older than Auryn was. Sighing, he looked back at Auryn, trying to get her to come back to him. "Everything's ok, 'Ryn...I'm not angry anymore."

Auryn sniffled one final time, feeling the still running emotions of everyone around her; indeed, Litural wasn't angry anymore...well, no more than he usually felt. The other boys were also calming down, especially the second one who just a moment before felt as upset as Lit had.

"Kay," she said, sounding a little more normal herself...though the smile was slow to form back on her face.

She had toddled back over to Lit when Lironax made the comment about Lit's wings. It made the older spawn do a bit of a double take...man, these guys rebounded just as quickly as Auryn did.

"Uh, thanks," Lit said, standing back up with Ryn by his side. "And...thanks, for finding Auryn..."
