They touched down in Lilycove City a little while later right outside the pokemon center as it seemed the fliers were accustomed to doing. Probably a safety precaution in the event they were carting a trainer with fainted team mates. Reasonable and the contest hall was only a short walk away. The group hopped off the large bird, Rummy giving a loud grateful chirp of his own as the bird took to the air once again and disappeared into the sky line. Bluff had returned to the confines of his bag, concealed by the darkness with only her large round eyes peering out on the world. Or rather Rummy. It seemed she wasn’t a fan of the excitable pokemon which is why she’d disappeared into the bag, concealing the constant appearance of disapproval that now occupied her face.
First things first, Sebastian made a detour to the market once more. The department store to be exact. That was going to be a wider selection for him to choose from and start prepping for another go at contests. As he browsed the wears (or he browsed, Rummy took to terrorizing innocent plotted plants under the assumption they were other pokemon) Sebastian felt his communicator go off once more, retrieving it to look. Ah, Jay again! And as another voice message too; which made sense. It was good to see it wasn’t much of a problem.
Plugging in some ear buds so that the message wasn’t resounding through the store, Sebastian listened, chuckling a little at the jokes and remarks. A curious look crossed his face as he looked over a bottle of shampoo; Skyla? So he was just now getting there? Well, knowing Jay it wouldn’t be much of a problem. Pausing in looking over apparel and accessories, Sebastian stepped off to a more secluded area to return a message.
"Oh yeah? A gym leader? Hey now, I don’t have enough hair for something like that. It’s long, but not that long. It’d probably be a hazard… get set on fire by some kid not willing to deal with it or something. That’d be bad," he commented, grimacing a little at the thought. It was bad enough Kaiser wanted to eat it all the time… he was reminded he needed to bring that Mareep out at some point. "but thanks for the vote of confidence. Good luck on your battle, though I doubt it’ll be a problem. Watch out for those fans though… they’re crazy." He tilted his head a moment in thought. "And good luck with the rest of the gyms! Let me know how bad they are, I still need to finish those too. And sure… I don’t think there’ll be much though. Rummy might stand a chance this time." That was… good enough a message right? It was odd trying to accurately respond via a voice message but well… same could be said of a text message, right? Sending it off, he returned to his shopping, stepping (or more like scrambling) away only to stop Rummy when he decided that the plants needed some assistance to get up and moving…

After a troublesome fit involving dragging Rummy away from the potted plants, Sebastian could finish his shopping prep. And if there was anything he’d done… it was buy a crap ton of berries. Like probably needlessly so. He’d taken the time to flip through the contests book though and onto the section concerning poffins and pretty much reasoned that if he was going to do this, he’d need the stash. That was one benefit of coming to a town with a contest hall; they did not skimp on the supplies. It probably looked terrifying to seem him hauling a tool box sized box of berries out among the other few purchases, but he’d making use of them soon enough.
He stepped into the contest hall and sat the case down, rifling through his other purchases and organizing them accordingly; he semi-considered finding a special case for his contest stuff. The supplies were small (the shampoos and conditioners he’d purchases where tiny-travel sized, single use containers for ease) but if he meant to keep collecting it was going to become a problem. His bag was already crammed full of junk and it would do no good if his accessories got all jacked up in the process. Sebastian took a look around. Maybe he could find something here? That’d be great. There did seem to be a little hobby store tucked off in the corner and he set his things down on a bench for the time. Rummy happily plodded behind him, eyes going wide and sparkling in awe as they returned to the scene. Another contest? So soon? Alright! Amazing! He was so excited!

While Sebastian browsed the kiosk for a suitable carrying case, Rummy decided to do some adventuring of his own. Which really meant, rushing around the building in stoic awe over all the beautiful and snazzy displays that lined the hall. There were pictures of past winners, ribbon displays sheltered behind panes of glass and one such display caught his eyes and sent them into a saucer-size. There were so many ribbons in that single case! So many pretty ribbons! He wondered if he could get that many ribbons? He wanted that many ribbons! ALL THE RIBBONS.
Rummy gave an excited chirp and immediately bounced around more; failing to topple anyone else over, probably because the place was mostly barren. There were a few groups clustered together talking and the Leafeon took a moment to stop and stare at them. One group was composed of three individuals; two girls and a guy, exceptionally dressed. He stared at them in awe, unable to make out the words they were speaking. Was it some foreign language? He was sure it was a foreign language. Eventually they dispersed but not before a paper escaped from the confines of one of their bags to tumble to the ground. Rummy perked up and trotted over to the paper, staring at it a moment. He couldn’t… read it. BUT! There were numerous pictures of ribbons and little pictures of people preforming plastered all over it; THAT he recognized. In fact, it looked like a spectacular event, like the one’s on TV and immediately his eyes were shining again.
Snatching the paper up into his mouth he bounded back to Sebastian, slamming into the side of the man’s leg just as he was setting the case he’d purchased down next to his bag of things. The man jumped in surprise, saving himself from falling over to deliver a disapproving look to the Leafeon.
"Rummy, watch where you’re go-" Sebastian began to scold before realizing the Leafeon had something stuffed in his mouth, "…what’s that?" Kneeling, he carefully pried the paper free (it was… dripping in saliva, good ol’ Rummy practically eating the darn pamphlet) before looking it over. A contest… bonanza? Some big ol’ contest event, going on for all to compete in. His mouth twisted into an ‘o’ of surprise. Well that certainly wasn’t something he was expecting! Actually, it’d probably be a great place to get some tips, ideas and develop some more skills… if anything, Rummy needed it and if he wanted to go through with it; the other pokemon he was considering entering in contests would benefit as well. It was… worth checking out at least, right?
Right! Of course, why not. What did he have to lose? Well, besides another contest, but this was about the learning experience all the same. Soon a grin had replaced the surprise and Sebastian gave Rummy a glance, gesturing with the paper. "You want to check this out, Rummy? It looks like fun!""LEAF! Leafe lea eon!" The pokemon chirped, practically doing a backflip as he started into his excited babble. Sebastian chuckled; well that was clearly a yes. Perfect, that was something he could get behind.
Before that though, he needed to sort his things out and quickly did so, moving accessories and the berries from their cases to the contest case he’d purchased, making sure everything was as neat and orderly as possible before collecting his things once more and heading out again. It seemed that they could just hop a boat to get to the area hosting it, which was great! It didn’t take long to snap up a seat and with an excited Rummy (and a disgruntled Bluff still lurking in the confines of his bag) they were on their way.

✿ ❀ Isis looked thoughtful as Jay explained what he could hear, imagining what it would be like to listen to the grass. There had certainly been times where she'd experienced something similar, lying in the grass of Verdanturf with her camera to take close up pictures of the blades at interesting angles and adjusting the focus to blur the background or zoom in and out while other kids ran around. "That sounds nice... I've always been focused on visuals, so I don't think I've really stopped to listen to those sorts of things, but I feel like... It's still there, like a soundtrack to certain memories, even I couldn't pick it out." She mused, watching as the furry bug pokemon on his shoulder hopped into his lap once they were seated. "Hehe, what a cute little buggaboo~" She laughed, admiring the black fluffy fur. She'd been aware of the pokemon around him but it seemed like they only came into focus now. Then again, Isis did always have the attention span of a pachirisu. "It looks like a cross between a joltik and a spinarak! What is it? Would you mind if I took a picture?" Isis asked, fiddling a bit with the settings on her camera.
Small attention span or not, she did however listen intently as Jay answered her questions, explaining his family history and how they'd indeed spent some time in Hoenn. "That sounds amazing! I wonder if your family ever met my boyfriend's then? Leon and his grandparents live out on the miltank ranch by Olivine." Isis explained. It would be interesting if they had ever met, and further prove what a small world this was. "I'm a little jealous actually~ I always lived in Verdanturf and my dad traveled a lot, but I was kind of stuck at home with my mom even though I always wanted to travel with him. I mean... I've been able to travel around the world now, but it was something I could only dream of back then." She leaned back in her seat with a smile and a reminiscent sigh.
Eventually the train came to a stop, the announcer calling for passengers to get off in Lilycove. Isis was quick to press her nose against the window and beam at the familiar sight until the doors opened and she hopped off the train (literally). "Ahhh!~ Feels good to be back. The contest hall is right--eh?" Isis paused as Raja suddenly appeared out of her pokeball. "Raja, what are you doing?" Isis asked curiously. The wispards icy clear eyes stared through her though, looking right at Mt. Pyre. "I need to go back." Raja insisted as Isis followed her gaze and then looked back at Raja wide eyed. "Ohhhh no. No no. No way. I don't want to see another ghost ever again." Isis looked a bit pale at the thought. "That can be arranged, but first you have to give up the two on your team." Raja smirked, tail twitching playfully. "Huh?" Oh, right, Hylia and Wraith... "They... That's not... They're different! They're not spooky like a duskull or shuppet!" Isis shivvered. "And that's beside the point! We aren't going to Mt. Pyre, and that's final." Isis frowned, folding her arms. Raja huffed some icy air and rose to her feet, tail flicking irritably. "We don't have to go now, but I will need to return soon. There are spirits there that still need to be cleansed, and my ward will only last for so long." Isis looked uncomfortable, but she couldn't really argue. "F.....Fine...." Isis agreed reluctantly. "You have nothing to fear~ I'm more than strong enough now to protect you from any ghosts, but I do still need to seek them out if I am to remain that way." Raja explained. It was a sort of double edged sword. Raja did need to gather more spiritual energy in order to use it against other ghosts. Isis wasn't happy with the idea of intentionally hunting ghosts down, but then again she could probably just let Raja go do it herself.
The wispard glanced to Jay, tilting her head curiously. "You made a new friend?" She pawed over to sniff at his hands and try to brush her cheeks against them, looking for attention. His hands didn't smell nice and fishy like Leon's, but he still seemed nice. ✿ ❀

Jay quirked an eyebrow. "I don'.... typically listen to 'em either. Mostly tune 'em out. But ah mean, when you hear somethin' rustlin' in the grass, yew tend ta pay attention. I jus' hear it a li'l sooner 'n more easily 'n others," he explained, unsure if maybe she'd misunderstood him. Sure, he lived in a world of sound, but he didn't pay attention to every detail; like most people, visually or no, he tuned out the irrelevant stuff until his brain decided it might be important and worth noting. He smiled, though, as she seemed to take note of Lee, resting a hand on the bug, who looked curiously up at her. The insect's antennae stuck up with interest as Isis' attention focused on her, and she chittered, moving a bit closer with interest. Jay's brow furrowed and he frowned at the question, though. "Uh... Sure. 'N she's a... lar... verra? Think the name is? Ah only got 'er recently, so I ain't too sure," he admitted. Lee, though, lifted herself up some, wiggling legs at the camera with interest.
Jay settled in, listening with some focus as she described her boyfriend's situation. "Dunno, maybe. T'be honest, I don' remember erryone we met," he confessed, reclining back, "But s'definitely possible. I'd even say likely, considerin'." He smiled as she admitted her own jealousy, bowing his head some, and absently reaching up to rub his ear. "I dunno, think both sorta things have their ups 'n downs. Ain't easy makin' friends when yer movin around a lot 'n errythin'. Or even makin' connections," he pointed out evenly, clearly not complaining, but rather pointing something out. He absently rubbed the back of his fingers under his jawline. "'N cant say tauros make thuh best travelin' companions," he added with a humored grin.
He moved to get out after her, turning his head as he heard one of her pokemon apparently let itself out. He turned away as she addressed her pokemon, though, minding his own business, and moving Lee back up to his shoulder. "How yew holdin' up, Rawly?" he asked, placing his hat back on his head. I'm fine. However, I don't sense any emotional distress of someone who may be missing a package. Perhaps we should move away from the train... The telepath trailed off, looking over as Isis argued with her pokemon. "Doubt yeh'll feel much, t'be honest," Jay replied, folding his arms over his chest, "T'ain't like that package was recent or anythin'. Guy might've not even noticed he ain't got it yet, or might already just assume it's gone." He turned to listen over towards Isis, initially intending to call over to her and ask if she knew any contest-specific breeders, but frowned and recoiled his hand as he felt something sniffing it, and then brushing against him. He tried to listen in, but Lee wasnt giving him any echoes, and he didn't feel like clicking his tongue. It's... a wispard. Like Koda. I believe it belongs to your friend, Ralward explained, staring at the fire-ice pokemon. Jay raised his eyebrows. "Huh..... S'plains why it sounded odd," he remarked, though he wasn't entirely sure of that. He only really heard Koda telepathically, which was just the wispard's voice, but he'd talked with him some and understood about how the... spirits, sort of stayed with them. Which explained the multiple voices he'd heard.
He dropped his hand back down, letting Raja get pets if she still wanted, but turned his focus to her trainer. "By the way, Isis, you know anythin' 'bout breeders that do contest-specific breedin' 'n pokemon raisin'?" he asked curiously.

✿ ❀ Isis tilted her head somewhat in confusion as Jay explained that he actually tuned most of the extra noise out, and just happened to notice sounds faster. "Oh, I see. Yeah I'd certainly pay quick attention to rustling grass heh. You never know when a pokemon might jump out." She agreed, turning her attention to Lee as she chittered curiously and seemed interested in her camera. "Larverra? Huh! Well she certainly seems like a shutterbug. You like my camera missy?" Isis chuckled, turning the flash off such as to not startle the little bug and take a few pictures before letting her inspect the camera while scratching her head affectionately and giggling at her curiosity.
Isis couldn't blame Jay for not remembering everyone they came across. She figured if they had ever met it would have been brief, but she agreed that it was entirely likely, given the circumstances. "I'll ask him if he remembers anything like that. It'll probably be more likely he'd remember you if you did ever meet." Isis suggested. She also couldn't deny that Jay was right about traveling in childhood having both it's positives and negatives. "Mm that's true. I guess I just wanted a balance, not having to move all the time, but still be allowed to travel with my dad every now and again." She mused, laughing at Jay's quip about tauros. "No, I can't imagine they would, especially if you were traveling with a pack of them. One wrong move and there'd be a stampede on your hands.... That didn't happen to you, did it???" Isis asked, suddenly realizing the possibility that it was a frequent occurrence for his family.
After arguing with Raja about Mt. Pyre, the wispard seemed to have taken an interest in Jay, startling him with the sudden touch. "Sorry! Sorry. That's Raja, she's really friendly, I promise!" Isis explained as Jay eventually let his hand back down, and Raja took the opportunity to lick his fingers with her cold, sandpaper tongue. Isis blinked as Jay asked about contest specific breeders. "Sure do~ Contest breeders usually try to crossbreed pokemon in order to get certain egg moves that are super useful in contests, but wouldn't normally be found in the species alone unless it just happened to breed with that pokemon naturally." Isis informed happily. "Aside from that, I know that contest breeders will also typically try to produce shiny pokemon, since they tend to be more flashy and eye catching for the presentation round. Did that... Answer your question? Or were you looking for something more specific?"✿ ❀

Jay smiled, relaxing back as Lee and Isis interacted. The curious bug scuttled a bit closer, climbing up on it with her forelegs, and gently poking and scraping at it with her pincers. She drew back once the train drew closer and they got ready to leave, while Jay gave a simple, "Alright," to her remark on asking her boyfriend. He grinned some at her question, though, "Few times," he admitted as they moved to get off the train, "Nothin' too bad, though. Only had a close call once. Think one've 'em actually happened in Hoenn, too. Mightyena got too close 'n nipped at one've the tauros' heels while they were grazin'. Luck'ly my mom had a rapidash she could use ta herd 'em up 'n ev'rythin'."
After their individual conversations with their pokemon, Jay turned to listen towards Isis, smiling again at her apology, and chuckling. "Don' worry 'bout it, just wasn't expectin' it, s'all," he reassured her, moving his hand to rub Raja's head, and scratch behind her ears. He gave her pets as he listened to Isis, frowning, but more in concentration than confusion or anything else. He lifted his head as she finished. "Huh... int'restin'... But uh, sorta. I heard this pok'mon was from a contest specific breeder, s'all." He remarked, then smirked some, pulling the pokeball back out. "Still... find that all weird. Concept've bein' flashy and all..." He shook his head, chuckling some. "Anyway, maybe you can recognize the breeders style? See if it's like somethin' you know's offered from some specific breeder 'r somethin'?" he suggested, before tossing the ball up to release the Volcarona. The pokemon appeared, hovering, looking immediately to Isis. "Know I certainly wouldn't be able ta recognize anythin'," Jay added jokingly, once again poking fun at his own blindness.

✿ ❀ Isis let Lee inspect her camera once she was finished taking pictures, instead listening to Jay when he recalled some issues with the Tauros. "Oof, yeah, those mightyena can be problematic. Professor Birch has enough trouble with poochyena so I can't imagine how much worse their evolutions are..." She chuckled and shook her head.
Raja was not really aware of personal space much like her trainer and Isis wished she hadn't snuck up on Jay unintentionally like that, but she smiled with some relief when Jay insisted that he just hadn't expected Raja's touch and wasn't angry. "Yeah, I can imagine... Sudden feeling of cold would be surprising to anyone." Isis chuckled sheepishly.
Raja purred at the head pats and scratches she received while Isis talked about contest breeders. "Ah, well that makes sense if Trey is a coordinator." Isis nodded. "Hm? What's weird about it? Contests are all about showing off style skill and flair, why wouldn't you want to be flashy?" She chuckled, looking thoughtful as Jay asked whether she'd be able to recognize a breeder's style. "Hmmm... I could certainly take a look? I do know a handful of contest breeders so it couldn't hurt to see if I recognize anything." Isis agreed, covering her mouth and snorting a bit as Jay suggested he wouldn't be able to recognize anything. "Haha, that's... probably true." The looks of a pokemon were certainly one of the more prominent features and characteristics of a breeder. Hearing, feeling, and smelling wouldn't really do much good to distinguish. "It'd also be good to maybe look at it's moves too." She added, now that she thought about it. Certain breeders did promote certain move combinations in the pokemon they bred so it would help to further distinguish and discern. ✿ ❀

Jay smirked as she empathized with the trouble. "No kiddin'," he chuckled back. Honestly, he didn't know much about the other regions' professors, but, he could imagine that they dealt with a lot of the more troublesome pokemon in their region. Hopefully they knew how to keep their labs from being overrun, at least.
He smiled and hummed a response to her understanding comment on Raja's 'greeting', but dropped the matter to listen to her answer and comment on his remark. He couldn't help but grin. "Well, maybe it has somethin' t'do with me bein' blind," he teasingly pointed out, poking fun at her. He started moving, though, figuring they could at least move away from the train station as they talked, and resumed the discussion, "But I just find you people tend ta put a lotta emphasis on sight 'n visuals. Can't say I understand it. Sure it's largely t'do with me just not seein' what y'all do, but it seems a li'l silly. Don' get me wrong, though-- if yer doin' somethin' based on looks, it does make sense ta go all out. S'just... weird for me to think've doin' somethin' based on looks t'begin with." He paused, then admitted, "Even if I technically done it myself fer my pok'mon a couple times." Not that he was sure he'd consider himself a coordinator, but.... he had participated, technically.
He handed over her pokedex when she mentioned the moveset. "Have at it,"[/collor] he offered, before folding his arms over his chest. Volcarona seemed to wait patiently, clearly not bothered by just hovering there, and looking pretty. He was obviously paying attention some, too, though.

✿ ❀ Isis felt a bit sheepish when Jay pointed out his blindness again after she tried to explain how flashy looks appealed in contests. She supposed not being able to see did make it a confusing concept. "I know I know, but that's why I want to try and explain it to you...." She chuckled, tugging lightly at the tips of her hair in thought as they walked and talked. "I guess it's kind of like.... When you listen to teachers lecture. You have the ones that talk in monotone, and they're super boring, and you quickly tune them out and fall asleep." She imitated the tone she was referring to as she talked about it. "Then you have the interesting teachers who make lectures fun and the way they talk just pulls you in and engages you because they're actually passionate about what they do! It's kind of the same thing. I'd much rather see a flashy performance full of cool move combinations, and a pokemon with unusual colorations, than just another regular pokemon pulling regular moves with nothing new or exciting about the performance." She hoped that made enough sense to him anyways.
She understood why it would be hard for him to wrap his head around, but as Jay elaborated, there seemed to be more to it to him than just not being able to see the performance itself. "Ah... Yeah I guess basing something all on looks is kinda superficial, but...." Her smile faltered. That was just how the world worked. Fashion, looks, contests, it was all her livelihood, and probably why she had such a poor self image to begin with. She was constantly seeking about images worthy of her camera lens, and everything she was looking for had never been found in a mirror. "Oh? So you've dabbled in coordinating have you?~" Isis grinned, her bubbly persona snapping back into place. "It's quite the experience, isn't it? What do you think? Something you might be persuaded into doing again, or not your thing?" Isis inquired. "I need to know, cause if it's the latter then you have to give me an interview~" She was mostly teasing. Mostly.
When Jay released the Volcarona, Isis gasped at the colors, instinctively taking many pictures and circling the bug like a bird of prey so she could get all as many angles as possible. "Oh my! What gradients~ The red and blue just works so well! But unfortunately, I don't think these colors are a signature of any breeder..." Still, there was hope in her voice as she thought and considered all the options. Looking over Jay's pokedex to see the moves, Isis hummed. "Wow.... All beauty moves, and..." She blinked. "Oh my god, that's brilliant..." Isis said with awe, the move choices slowly building in her mind. There were still no leads per se, no particular style that she knew of, but there was one person she could think of who had the ability to put this all together. "I know someone who might fit the bill for this beauty. This isn't their design or a specific moveset that they've marketed as far as I know, but they're known for taking specific requests and working with trainers to get the moves and colors they're looking for, and if Trey had a part in creating this moveset for contests, all I can say is that they're a genius." Now she had to know who this Trey guy was, and get an interview, hopefully. ✿ ❀

Jay quirked an eyebrow at her explanation, but didn't say anything. That wasn't quite the impression he got, especially given contests were more of a.... performance thing, it seemed, but he got what she meant. It just heightened the experience, was all. But, like he said, that already made sense to him. He really didn't need it getting explained. It was the core concept he had some confusion over, and that, she didn't have much to say in terms of explaining. If he could see, he would have given her a pointed look, but instead, he let the topic simply drop, the silence speaking for itself.
He smiled at her teasing, though, chuckling a bit. "Can't say it's fer me, t'be honest, but it literally wasn't 'n the first place, so ain't too surprisin'. S'fer my pok'mon. 'N I can't say I'm quite worth interviewin'. Crystal might disagree, but she's a bit on probation from her last contest," he admitted. And yet, he did have the squirtle's pokeball with him, just in case.
Jay pressed his lips together and quirked an eyebrow dubiously as she talked about things he had heard the words of, but had absolutely no concept of. Gradients.... Was like a color transition, blue and red were colors.... He could hear the shutter of her camera, and relaxed a bit when her attention shifted to the moves. Now that was something he knew a little more about. Beauty, though, huh? He admittedly hadn't looked too far into them. Some surprise showed, though, at just how impressed she seemed with them. What, did they all have a good visual effect? Or was there some tactical aspect he was missing? He shifted and folded his arms over his chest, listening to her explanation, and smirking in amusement at her compliments. "Well hell, sounds like we intercepted a real prodigy," he joked, but he was being a little sarcastic. Not to demean, but, well... he didn't really understand how strategy came into something so.... froufrou. "Think you could get in contact with the breeder that mighta raised this pok'mon?" he queried, more seriously.

✿ ❀ Isis chuckled as Jay insisted contests were never for him in the first place. Given that he didn't really seem to like or understand the concept, that somewhat made sense, but then-- "Why'd you start doing them then?" She asked curiously. It was kind of hard to follow the points of his story when the dots didn't seem to connect. It was funny to hear that one of Jay's pokemon was on probation from contests though. "Haha oh? Who is Crystal and why is she on probation?" It was too bad, really. Isis would've had fun interviewing his pokemon.
Jay's use of light joking sarcasm somewhat went over Isis' head as she was far too engrossed, excited, and oblivious to notice. "You bet your bottom dollar we did!" She squealed, bouncing up and down like a child at Christmas time. "These moves when used in combination with each other would be difficult, but if pulled off correctly, not only would it be a beautiful display, but it would also make it hard to startle while still gaining an exorbitant amount of appeal points from the judges. It would be--" She had to laugh for a moment at the sheer ridiculousness of it. "It would just be crazy. Light screen can be used to protect it from attacks and attempts to startle while overheat is a stunning display that gives a lot of appeal but leaves it vulnerable, so when combined into one round you'd negate the weakness. And man, I can just see the flames hitting the screen, it would be so pretty--and perfectly safe for the audience! You don't get to see flames so big and close like that without getting hurt... It'd be like bottling fire!" Isis swooned at the thought. "And then a quiver dance combined with fiery dance??? It just works so well together. One gets the volcarona pumped up while the other does better when it's pumped up, not to mention it also helps to prevent nerves, I mean who would feel nervous after performing a beautiful dance?"
"Isis, don't forget to breathe." Raja reminded her gently with a chuckle. The blonde was getting dizzy from lack of oxygen since she was talking so much, so fast in her excitement. Isis stopped herself and took a deep breath as she was told, nodding as Jay asked if she could get in contact with the breeder. "Mhm. I have his number but he's super busy, which... Y'know. Given this Volcarona, can you blame him?" She laughed. "But! I can give him a call, and I'll give you his number too if you want?" She offered. ✿ ❀

Jay rolled his shoulders back a bit, stretching out his muscles. "Just 'cause she wanted ta do 'em," he explained casually, "Crystal, that is. 'N she's my squirtle. Real spit fire, though... she ain't got the best attitude. Sorta did some... over kill on the last contest, real unnecessary. Surprised she didn' lose fer it." He frowned at the memory, before tugging his hat down a bit. "Anyway, might let 'er pick it back up soon, but fer now, she's grounded." He smiled, his voice lightening up to keep humor to the situation.
He raised his eyebrows and gave a breathy, almost inaudible laugh at Isis' enthusiasm. Well... wasn't she... involved. "Almost sounds like I oughta worry 'bout you stealin' this, with all them idears up in yer head," he remarked with a chuckle, tucking the ball away. The volcarona, though, was looking at her with some interest, a few flames flickering about it, as if her monologue was enough to stir a desire to perform. It stayed still, however, moving nothing but its wings to keep aflight.
Jay was smiling in amusement as Isis finally calmed herself down, but frowned thoughtfully at the offer. "Er.... sure, s'pose so," he remarked, pulling out his communicator, and handing it over, "Here ya go. Feel free ta program it 'n yers in there." He took the moment to think, before turning to listen. "Think we oughta head into the contest hall 'n see if he's registered at all?" he suggested.

✿ ❀ Isis couldn't help but chuckle as Jay blamed his squirtle for his participation in contests. "That's an interesting contradiction. A spitfire water type..." She mused. Isis did frown however upon hearing how Crystal took one contest too far, hence the grounding. "Oh dear... That's no good." She agreed. Contests were supposed to be fun and enjoyable. Getting too competitive and seriously hurting an opponent was not something that should have been okay, so she certainly supported Jay's decision to "ground" the squirtle. However, the blonde still couldn't help but giggle a little bit at Jay's terminology. "Hehee~ You sound like a stern father; it's cute." Isis suggested with amused admiration.
Isis laughed more as Jay jokingly suggested he needed to make sure she didn't steal the volcarona for herself. "Well I'll admit it's tempting, but I could never pull something like that off. I'd feel too guilty. At worst I'd just keep it for a little longer than intended, maybe try a contest or two just to know what it's like, and to bond, then I'd give it back to it's rightful owner." She explained honestly with a laugh.
Isis took Jay's communicator, inputing her number in along with the breeder's. "Wait... How would you.... be able to use our numbers if you can't see them...." Isis remarked, just realizing/thinking about this herself. Obviously Jay had to have some sort of method since he didn't give her a pointed look at her suggestion and/or joke about what good a phone number was to a blind man. Nevertheless, Isis nodded at Jay's suggestion to scope out the contest hall to check for the volcarona's registration. "Yeah, that's a good idea." She agreed.
However, the suggestion gave her an idea. "Hey.... Hey Jay..." Isis scooted a bit closer, giving the male a wide grin and her best baby doll eyes, not that it'd work. "Why don't you try putting him in a beauty contest and try it out for yourself?" She suggested. "I mean, aren't you just a little bit curious to see what it'd be like? And it wouldn't hurt anything! We'd still get him back to his owner." She insisted. No ulterior motives here. Not at allllll. ✿ ❀

Jay chuckled. "S'pose so, but I mean, could always see if she can learn Scald so it makes a bit more sense," he joked back, a grin on his face. He sobered up at the matter of her behavior during her last contest, humming in agreement. "Yeeaaah... 'Specially 'gainst a friend..." he mused. Damn, he still felt bad about that for Sebastian. And he needed to contact him again sometime, too. He'd sort of lost track of their last conversation... He turned to listen towards Isis when she giggled, looking perplexed, but then a bit surprised. An uncertain smile crossed his face. "Ah, yeah? Ain't.... never anyone quite describe me like that a'fore," he remarked with a little, uneasy laugh of his own. And he waaaasn't quite sure how he felt about it. Even though he knew she just meant the resemblance was cute, and didn't mean anything by it. He chuckled, though, and bowed his head, smirking some as he brushed it off, like everything else. It was pretty clear the initial reaction he had, was quickly replaced with just his usual steady amusement.
He lifted himself up and listened, looking a little surprised at her confession. He was quiet a moment, though, as he seemed to consider something. "... You done much contestin' yerself, Miss Isis?" he asked with a lackadaisical smile. Really, the formality was more playful than polite, and he was his family's top bet for who would start dropping manners first, but the habit still showed up now and then. Mostly from all those damn westerns he and his sister had watched. Er, well... listened to. Either way, the way she talked about it, it kind of sounded like she hadn't actually participated all that much herself.
He chuckled a bit at her question, holding his hand out blindly for his device. "Voice stuff, mostly, 'n my pok'mon help if I'm feelin' lazy, or it's actin' up or somethin'," he explained, tucking the device away once it had been handed to him. He kept walking, bowing his head some as he heard and felt her move closer, quirking an eyebrow to the change in her voice. He obviously couldn't exactly see the look on her face, but he could tell something was up, and smiled quizzically. He gave a short, breathy laugh when she mentioned the suggestion, though. "Ta see what it'd be like, hm?" he returned back playfully. He straightened back up, his head bowed, his eyes mostly closed, though just a sliver of silver could be seen. "Nah, I don' think so. Ain't my pok'mon. 'N I don' know what all it's capable of, either," he pointed out casually, before adding, "Yew mind leadin' the way towards the contest hall, by thuh way? Ain't quite sure which buildin it is."
