Dear Diary,

I’m horrible at keeping diaries. They never really turn out the way I want them to. But I suppose it’s time for me to start to try to keep something of a log of my thoughts of what’s going on. Because if I don’t write them down, I’ll go a little mad, I think.

I wasn’t surprised when they showed up at my doorstep, the scientists, the technicians in white coats like those I remembered far too well. They terrified me and made me feel defiant all at once-- until they mentioned the little boy, the child they’d created by merging DNA together. A child not entirely unlike me and mine. Emotions coursed through my body, anger, hope-- sorrow. Another child who wouldn’t be normal because he’d be different, unlike others. But this one at least came from a group that had so many who fell under that description, not like my sisters and me.

When I saw him, I fell in love. Not in a ***** fashion, but rather... I loved him. He was gorgeous, young-- and so full of possibility. There’s a connection between us stronger than most I’ve felt. He understands so much and yet so little. I want to take care of him, make sure he’s ok. Make sure that nothing happens to him because if something does happen to him, I’m not sure I could handle it.

He’s that dear to me and I’ve had him for such a short period of time. Jett, my little spider, my darling boy.

We’ve spent our time together going over things-- I should put up his interpretations of the ABCs and his numbers. They’re... more than a little amusing. He refused to use a pen for a while, instead playing with his webs that he creates as toys. As a result... well, let’s just say that they’re a bunch of straight lines. But he’ll learn. He recognizes them, which means something, right?

I’m not a particularly good mother, as Winter always reminds me when I take on another child, but I care about him. And that’s enough for right now because in caring for him, I’ll do my damnedest to make everything right for him.

I will.

Dear Diary,

Right. So I said I'd paste in some of the worksheets Jett completed. Let me see... where did I put them? Somewhere... right. In my purse. I should get used to that.

User Image

Isn't he cute? Absolutely refusing to touch a pen. >>; I think I'm going to have to break him of that habit. But he doesn't seem to like the idea of using anything but his webs right now. He's a little self-conscious that way. He understands how his webs work, but not a pen, I think. At least, that's the only explanation I have right now.

Oh. Here's another!

User Image

I think he recognized the E from the sign I've got on his door. But I can't be sure-- he's a confusing child. So quiet and yet so lively at the same time. But I enjoy being around him. I enjoy taking care of him. He's already discovering so many things, and he's still so young...

Then again, age doesn't have everything to do with it. I'm glad of that-- he's more mature than some of the boys I've taken care of at his age. At least... well, not necessarily more mature, but... well, no. More mature in the sense that he has a conscious thought of how he wants to be viewed. I think. It seems. I hope he didn't pick that up from me. >>;

I don't know where I put the rest of his sheets. I'll have to look for them... or something. Because I'm scatter-brained like that. It's confusing. I should know where I put them.... right. Purse?

User Image

The way Jett looked when he did those worksheets-- it was so very... adorable. His face all screwed up in concentration, trying to understand how it worked without asking for help. He's as bad as I am in that respect. He wanted it to be right without really understanding what right is. Poor darling. He'll grow out of it, I hope.

User Image

User Image

He likes letters he recognizes. Can't say I blame him-- first thing I recognized was my own name as well. He likes quiet though, where he can understand things. After all, he's trying to learn. He's trying to become... stronger. Wiser. Because he doesn't like not knowing things-- silence is his time.

User Image

I'm not sure what's going on with everything though. Winter hasn't been able to tell me much about this D-Corp-- which worries me. Mostly because I think that there's more going on than they're saying. Then again, I'm a little nervous around scientists in general, but I think I have right to be!

...oh. Another sheet!

User Image

Right. There's only like... two more. Somewhere. Where did I put them?! I'm a little bad at this. Jett's more organized than I am, and he's just a kid. Winter got all the organizational genes in the family....

There! I didn't lose them! Okay. Going to go check and make sure that Jett's still sleeping.

To Grandmother's House We Go!
A Playdate with Medusa

Kanth
"And dey went thru teh foryst?" Medusa asked as she looked up to her mother, walking beside her on the forest path.

"Yeah, and then Little Red Riding Hood met a WOLF. He wasn't a very nice wolf... in fact, he wanted to eat her." Grinning, Kanth was happy at the reaction she was getting from Medusa for such an old story, and the story was one of many of her favorites.

draconianraven
Glancing about as they wandered through the forest back to the Nest, Jett considered this new environment. Leaving D-Corp for the first time hadn't been an incredible surprise-- after all, he'd always known he'd have to go forth from the scientific place eventually. And Raven didn't seem so bad. But he couldn't help the nagging feeling that--

"Someone else is here."

The little boy seemed to be doing ok. Raven had no idea what she could do for him but-- what? Glancing up ahead, Raven spotted a little blue girl and someone-- must be her guardian. "Hi there!" Raven called, gently pulling Jett along by one of his arms. Hey, maybe they could make some new friends...

Kanth
"Oh? Maybe it's the big bad wolf!" Kanth exclaimed softly to Medusa, getting a skeptical look.

"Sillee," Medusa chided, waggling a finger at Kanth playfully, getting a laugh out of her mother.

"It looks like another D-corp child..." Kanth mused thoughtfully, stopping on the trail and waiting for them to reach her. "Though I'm unsure what kind of kid she has." Medusa, also intrigued, stared at the approaching strangers.

draconianraven
Part of Raven worried that she'd run across someone who would get upset-- who'd discriminate against Jett's large amount of limbs. Or his smaller eyes under his primary. Or his black skin, the strange understanding-- but you can't always worry. You have to just trust sometimes that it'll be ok. Besides, the little girl was blue and transluscent. Obviously a Gaian child.

"Hi there!" Raven smiled, glancing at the two. "Um... I'm Raven. Just came from D-Corp-- was on my way home when Jett here spotted you two. Thought we'd introduce ourselves!" She was babbling again. Damnit. Oh well. Too late now.

The little girl was clear-ish. Blue. Strange, but not harmful. Yet. Possibly later, but not now. Jett didn't know whether to speak or let his... 'Mother'... do the talking. She seemed to need to speak right now. Let her. Wait.

Kanth
"Ahhh, I was right." Kanth smiled. "I'm Kanth, and this is Medusa. She's from D-corp as well. You have a gorgeous child."

Medusa walked up to the spider boy and made her way around him, looking intently curious. "Ar yew teh big bad wulf?" She asked, stopping and reaching out to poke one of his arms. She didn't think the big bad wolf had more than two arms, but one could never be sure!

Kanth paled. Oh no!

draconianraven
Jett frowned ever so slightly at the sensation of pain, one of his other hands moving to pull her wrist away from his body. Unfortunate. "No." He didn't feel the need for verbose answers, preferring to keep his calm, even though his arm was beginning to hurt.

Raven's eyes widened slightly and placing her right hand where Medusa had stung him. At least she'd been trained in Reiki? She kind of knew what to do-- it might end up hurting a little more for a short bit of time before the pain subsided, but at least it wouldn't spread. Managing a smile, Raven laughed a little. "Thanks... Medusa's a lovely little girl as well." If a little... sharp? Venomous? Well, Jett was venomous as well, but...

Kanth
"Jellyfish. I'm sorry, she likes touching things. She hasn't realized the concept yet." Kanth blushed ever slightly, pulling the girl back and looking at her with a disapproving look.

"Sowry," Medusa apologized, lowering her head and shuffling her feet. She honestly thought he wouldn't mind.

draconianraven
Raven laughed slightly. "Well, I've been trained in this healing thing, so it's ok." Giving Medusa a gentle smile, Raven couldn't help but think about how absolutely adorable the child was. "Ah. Jett's a black widow, to my knowledge," she explained, "which might be why he's not upset about the sting-- he's a bit venomous himself." Well, his bite was at least.

Jett shrugged. It didn't matter. Raven had made the pain go away now. It was fine. But strange. Little girl with fingers of stinging... stuff. Strange indeed... It made him wonder...

Kanth
"That's good," Kanth breathed, relieved. Glancing around, she blinked and smiled. "Would you two like to walk with us?"

Medusa stole another glance at the other, confused at his own glance. Did he not like her?

draconianraven
Glancing at Jett, Raven smiled slightly. "All right," she agreed. It would be good to get Jett some friends. Friends were useful. Good to have around. Friends who weren't family, she meant. Friends who were... yes. Different. "That would be nice." Nice. Good. Right.

Jett shrugged. Walking further for a while. Finding out things about people. Interesting. Maybe. The little girl was watching him. Little girl-- Medusa. Stinger. Stinger-- good name for her. Little girl with a fish inside...

Kanth
Medusa wished he would so talk. Idly, she raised her head and gave him a small smile, before opening her mouth to speak.

"Wat's yer naem?" She asked, walking closer to him to glance at him, then glance away. Kanth had always said it was impolite to stare, and now she was trying her very bestest to obey.

"Any place you wanted to visit? We're new to this area, so we're up for anything intriguing."

draconianraven
Hadn't 'Mother' answered that? "Jett," the boy answered shortly, the word rolling off his tongue easily. His name. The distinction of who he was over someone else. "...you're... Medusa." The boy took his time with the name, sounding it out in his head before saying it aloud, not wanting to get it wrong. Names were important. You couldn't afford to get them wrong.

"Well, we were just on our way home-- my other children are with my... friend," Raven ended uncertainly. She never could be sure whether to call Winter her friend or her sister. Their relationship was a strange one... "But it's a ways away, so I'm not sure what's around here. Perhaps we could just explore?"

Kanth
Medusa smiled, giving a nod, but still looked nervous around the other. "... yew kan kall meh Dusa..."

"Exploring works for me. Medusa's found interesting things that way." She smiled warmly.

draconianraven
Dusa. A name. Simplified version of the full. Now too young to carry the weight of the full name. "...Dusa," Jett repeated quietly. "...'kay."

Raven smiled at that. Well, exploring had always been good for the body and the soul, right? ...except when it wasn't, but friends were good! "Ah... so, how long have you had Medusa?" she asked as she started walking again.

Kanth
"... watchu tinking 'bout?" Medusa asked, her eyes wide with curiosity. Okay, she couldn't help but stare, he was so intriguing!

"It's been nearly a month now... though it seems shorter than that. Time flies, really." Kanth tilted her head down a bit, kicking at a small pebble.

draconianraven
"N..." Jett paused, sounding it out in his mind, "...names." People had names that meant things. People had names that didn't. But they were all names, distinctions, differences. Right?

Raven considered that. Almost a month... well, in Gaia terms a month was a long time. But when one did what they enjoyed, time seemed to speed by, change into something... smoother. Sweeter, kinder. "I see," the girl smiled. "Well, taking care of children can ease the time away quite quickly."

Kanth
"... why?" Medusa asked, her eyes still trying to look into his, to find out what it was about names that was so important. A name was a name, to her. It's what someone called you!

"Yes. I wouldn't trade her for the world." She smiled, glancing to the other two before stopping before a large tree. Did they like to climb trees? She imagined Medusa had never tried before, but it wouldn't hurt -- just once, yeah?

draconianraven
"....meanings. Diff... differences," Jett shrugged. Names were specific-- satisfying. They were who you were, definitions. But he didn't have the spoken vocabulary to explain all the thoughts in his mind...

Raven noted the tree as well, glancing up, then back at Jett who seemed intently considering... something. "Think they want to play?" she asked Kanth with a slight grin.

Kanth
"Ooh." Medusa said, though didn't really understand. Reaching up, she scratched the back of her head before stopping after realizing the grownups did, looking up at the tree as they did.

"I think so. Medusa's never climbed a tree before, though I think she'd be excited to try."

draconianraven
Jett's gaze followed Medusa's to the tree. He could climb it. He knew he could. With his arms alone, if need be...

"Neither has Jett, to my knowledge," Raven smiled. "Jett-dear? Care to try?" she suggested gently.

Kanth
Medusa smiled expectantly. "Yew gon'climbh?" She couldn't climb the tree, she realized, as she tried to pull herself up on a very low branch. She just didn't have the strength.

"Don't push yourself, Medusa." Kanth smiled warmly.

draconianraven
Was he going to? He didn't know yet. He could. But was there reason to? Medusa seemed to have problems. But he could climb it if he wanted to. Should he climb it without her? "Maybe."

The boy reached up with two pairs of arms and pulled himself onto a low branch, considering the view and considering Medusa just below him.

Raven watched, somewhat wondering at Jett. She'd never before gotten a chance to be around someone with multiple limbs like that, so every movement which involved more than one pair of arms caught her eye.

Kanth
Medusa looked awed, her grey eyes staring straight up at Jett. "Does it hurt?" She asked simply, mouth open.

draconianraven
"Hurt? No. Why?" the boy asked, considering the little girl. Was it... 'supposed to'? That wouldn't make sense. If it did, Raven-- Mother-- wouldn't have suggested it. But if it wasn't supposed to, why had the girl-- Medusa-- asked?

Kanth
A shrug was given from the girl. "Jus' wanted tew kno wut et felt liek." She'd heard her 'siblings' talk about it, but other than the fact of just knowing, she didn't know what the feeling was.

draconianraven
Hm. "Want... to feel... hurt?" Jett took his time piecing the words together. That was... strange. To say the least. "Or... go up tree?" The boy wasn't sure what Medusa'd meant-- he seldom understood other people though. He was too busy making sure he knew what he was doing.

Kanth
A blank stare was given to him. She did, however, want to climb the tree, and raised her hands if Jett so wished to help her.

"Climb?" Medusa asked, mouth remaining open.

draconianraven
...it would hurt. To pick up the girl. Because her hands... had hurt things on them. But... Jett reached down with another pair of hands, moving to try to pick her up by her wrists, quickly drawing her up to the tree.

Kanth
A look of glee crossed her face and soon she sat down next to him, legs dangling over one of the branches.

"Thanks." Medusa uttered, closing her eyes.

draconianraven
"...welcome," Jett shrugged, sitting up to look at Medusa. The little girl was... different than him. Couldn't pull herself up. But still could stay up, which was good.

Kanth
"Wat yew liek tew dew?" Medusa asked, leaning close to him. He intrigued her, and from down below, it was quite obvious one had a crush on the other.

Kanth smiled, leaning against the tree and watching lazily.

draconianraven
Jett shrugged eloquently-- he hadn't really thought about it yet. "Don't... know." After all, this was really his first time out and about, wasn't it? "What... do you like... to do?" Slowly. Get the words right. The boy wanted to sound right, the way other people sounded right.

Raven smiled as she leaned against the tree as well, her eyes trained on the kids-- just in case.

Kanth
"I liek tew swim. Do yew swim?" Medusa asked, blinking at him curiously. She reached up to touch him, then remembered her hands hurt, and withdrew them. She didn't want to hurt him.

draconianraven
"...never... tried," Jett shrugged, feeling slightly... embarassed at that. "When..." No, not when, he corrected himself mentally, "...where... do you... swim?" he asked, carefully.

Kanth
"Ocean. Pool. Uh, Dee-corp, with ... friends!" She spoke cheerily, raising her hands in the air as if she was celebrating.

draconianraven
Friends. Another foreign word to Jett. He basically understood it-- people you are around. But in all honesty, it didn't really register in the boy's mind as a real concept. "...I see." Perhaps he should try this swim thing sometime.

Kanth
"Yer my friend, rite?" Medusa said softly, staring at him with those grey eyes of hers.

"Medusa, we have to go," Kanth called up, giving an apologetic look to Raven. "I have to make dinner, or else I get griped at for being lazy." She rubbed the back of her neck, laughing softly.

draconianraven
"...yes?" Jett blinked. Was that a question? Friend. Friend was what? ...he'd figure it out later.

"We should go too," Raven glanced up at Jett. "Jett, can you and Medusa come down?" she called up to her little boy.

Jett blinked and took hold of Medusa's wrists again, holding her close and crawling down with another pair of hands.

Kanth
Medusa smiled, then let herself be carried as she stared at him.

"I think that is the cutest thing I've ever seen," Kanth commented, hiding behind a smile.

A Day In The Mall
A Playdate with Altessa

draconianraven
Jett wandered through the mall, one of his hands tightly gripped in Raven's. The little boy glanced about-- there was something strange about this place, the way the entire mall seemed to reverberate with sound, strange noises he couldn't understand because they were altogether too loud and too strangely rightly wrong.

Kanth
It was a much better day for Altessa; she was in a better mood, even though her look was still sullen, but at least she wasn't with that incompetent mage!

"Shopping, shopping..." Raine muttered, walking next to Altessa and glancing up from the list every so often. She was a fairly pretty woman, and resembled Kanth very much, though wore a bit different clothes than Kanth normally would - for one, she wore goggles, and for two, she could be labeled as a 'geek', considering there was a My Little Pony on her shirt. Heart Throb, to be exact. And a short jean vest, a tool kit at her side with a hammer hanging from it...

Yeah. Geek.

"Graaah, this is so hard, considering that I can't buy the stuff I need... just groceries. How did you guys stand it?" Raine whined.

Altessa smirked - just slightly - before turning roughly and running right into the boy. She whirled and turned, about to hiss in the other's face for not watching where he was standing.

draconianraven
Pain. Jett recognized this sensation. He also recognized-- dimly through the sensation of pain-- Raven's gasp as surprise. Pain. Surprise. Two different ideas. Sensations. Something should be said. Very belatedly, the little boy murmured an 'ow' under his breath. Correct.

A little... D-corp-- because Raven didn't know whether to call those kids 'kids' or... something else-- ran into Jett. Raven's maternal instinct bristled before the companion registered. Raven almost thought she'd spotted one of her childhood friends-- until the My Little Pony registered. Around then the resemblance to Kanth broke through Raven's haze to attack.

...great. Pulling Jett close, Raven glanced between D-corp and... person. "Um. Hello."

Kanth
A hiss was uttered from Alt's mouth before Raine clamped a hand over it, earning a hard blink from the girl but nothing more.

"I'm sorry," Raine murmured softly, smiling sheepishly. "Small world..." She blinked and crouched to Jett's level, beaming. "He's such a cutie!"

Alt glowered, almost wanting to take the spotlight, but that would have undesirable consequences. Therefore, she was happy with just glaring at the spider.

Seeing the animosity from Altessa, Raine stood back up and introduced herself. "Forgive me. I'm Raine, and this is Altessa." She pushed the girl forward, though kept a firm grip on her shoulders.

draconianraven
Jett blinked once, then again. Hiss. Sound of... anger. Frustration. Occasionally pain, but he felt pain, other didn't. Other. Altessa. Female. The older of the strange pair-- like Medusa's... other. Parent. Not quite parent, but almost. Nearly.

Names put Raven at ease-- now she had a better way of defining these two! "I'm Raven, and this is Jett," she explained, placing her hand gently on Jett's head. "Altessa's quite adorable herself," she added, smiling gently at the D-corp. "You know, Raine, I have to say... you remind me of someone."

Kanth
"... oh?" Raine's smile faded slowly. "I... actually get that a lot. I don't quite understand it, but..." She shrugged, the smile returning. There was no reason to be down, but she just wanted to be herself.

Altessa disliked being called 'adorable'. She was supposed to be ferocious! She bared her teeth at the woman, already disliking her.

draconianraven
"I didn't mean to offend-- it's just the way my brain stores information," Raven blinked slightly. "Pieces of people come together to make another person, y'know?" Blah. She was having trouble with this, wasn't she? Blame it on the insomnia.

Jett noticed Altessa's teeth-baring action and considered it. Anger. Strange anger-- directed at Raven. But there wasn't a reason for anger, was there? Gently disentangling himself from Raven, the little boy moved towards Altessa slowly.

Kanth
"Aaahhh." Raine gave a nod, seeming to think for a moment. "Well, since we're here... perhaps you could help me out a little?" The woman rubbed the back of her neck. "I uh... never went shopping before." Period, though she didn't mention that little detail. "Here. Never went shopping here before. Hahaha."

Altessa turned her head and stared at the boy, eyes wide and dangerous, almost as if she dared him to try something.

draconianraven
Jett smiled slightly as he continued moving towards Altessa. She was... the strangest creature he'd ever seen-- even more so than Medusa because Medusa was roughly his size and transluscent, not this strange... green. Not tail and claws and anger.

"Oh, of course!" Raven liked helping people. "What were you looking for, exactly?"

Kanth
"Well... Io said there would be a supermarket of supermarkets here somewhere... but frankly, I'm pretty lost." She sighed.

Altessa remained shock still, though her eyes and hackles rising warned him clearly that she would attack without hesitation should he even so much as brush against her.

draconianraven
Jett stopped just in front of Altessa, watching her carefully. He knew better than to try to touch someone who looked like that, but he didn't back down either.

"The supermarket? Oh, it's on the other side of the mall," Raven smiled slightly. "Would you like me to show you?"

Kanth
"Please!" Raine breathed, looking relieved.

Tilting her head to the side, Alt seemed to relax slightly, though turned and walked after Raine, all the while watching Jett.

draconianraven
Raven smiled, moving to take one of Jett's hands instinctively. "C'mon then-- we'll take the short way, if you don't mind dodging people. If you'd rather we take the long way and avoid them, we can do that too," she suggested, unsure.

Jett kept his eyes on Altessa, considering her. She was... so different than the other girls he'd met, so angry and vicious and interesting. Not that the others hadn't been interesting, just... not the same.

Kanth
Raine just smiled in reply, following as she put both hands on Altessa's shoulders.

Altessa bristled, not from the fact that Raine was touching her, but at the fact that she was being stared at.

"Stop looking." She hissed rudely, showing her large row of fangs. Her mouth was immediately clamped over Altessa's mouth, making her blink in surprise then slump in slight defeat. It was impossible to anger or get Raine down; Tiil, however, was a completely different matter.

draconianraven
Mildly oblivious, Raven led the way through the mall, gently leading her little boy as well as Raine and her kid. "Malls aren't that hard-- they're pretty much all the same with slightly different layouts, y'know?"

Jett obeyed, strangely enough, turning his eyes from Altessa-- without any form of shame, just simple acceptance. Some people didn't appreciate his curiosity.

Kanth
Nodding, Raine smiled further and just followed, happy with being led to someplace that was familiar with her guide. Now the others wouldn't be so mad, she was at least trying!

Altessa tilted her head at this, curious. No shame, no hinderance, no fear... it ticked her off, yet it impressed her.

She wanted to break that.

"Why you stare?" She hissed low enough so only they could hear, walking nearer to him now.

draconianraven
Raven navigated the crowd like a pro, sure to never lose any of the group, dodging crazed mothers in the holiday shopping spirit and moving along at a speed usually reserved for the guerrilla shoppers. They were almost there, they just had to get past a few more (hundred) people...

"Not... staring. Now," Jett added as an afterthought, not looking at the girl, since it seemed to upset her. Such an interesting girl, and such a different kind of person than anyone he'd met. It confused him and interested him in that strange way that only young children seemed to understand.

Kanth
"Why you no fear? Everyone else does." Altessa continued, now drawing nearer and sticking her head near his face, eyes narrowing dangerously. Why, why, why, she wanted all these answers but they weren't coming fast enough!

"Whoah..." Raine murmured, keeping an eye on the kids, though had quite a bit of trouble manouvering around through the crowd. Being in the real world was nothing like she had expected, and she felt very overwhelmed by it all.

draconianraven
Fear. A strange word. Jett didn't quite understand it... what was 'fear'? Was that the sensation of needing to get away? But why would he try to get away from an interesting person? "...no fear... because..." But why? Because he didn't understand it? Not an okay answer. "...no need to fear." Simpler.

"And this way, this way, this way," Raven narrated in a sing-song whisper, her mind analyzing the crowd as they went through. Some called it insanity, some called it direction sense, Raven called it practice.

Kanth
Altessa was about to remark something, but then held back. This one... was rather interesting. He thought before he spoke, and not many did that.

Intrigued now, Altessa calmed and walked beside him now, ignoring everything else. And then, she spoke softly, a hint of a smirk on her face.

"You may stare."

"Aaahhh," Raine called, head spinning from all the people as she followed as close she could. She could see it, where they were going! It seemed close, but... oh gosh, all the people!

draconianraven
The little boy smiled, glancing at Altessa with those deep, dark eyes. Such a strange girl... really and truly. But interesting. Green and angry and different all in one. Altessa. He would remember that name.

And now down to the final stretch... the last hundred feet or so. And only about a hundred people in between themselves and victory. Raven moved fast, ducking between shoppers, trying to keep an eye on their large-ish party. They were keeping up well...

"And here!" she grinned.

Kanth
She seemed prideful at this now, though didn't say anything more at that. Altessa rather liked this... Jett. And her eyes wandered over him, as well, though she stared out of the corner of her eyes.

"So many people..." Raine murmured, doubling over as she tried to catch her breath. "It's so different in this world..." The woman glanced up, giving Raven a genuine smile. "Thank you very much. I will remember you and your generosity."

draconianraven
"No problem at all. Jett, come on-- we have our own shopping to attend to," Raven smiled. "Hey, if you ever need any other help, look me up sometime!" she suggested, passing Raine a business card.

Jett considered Altessa again before bowing slightly to her when Raven mentioned leaving.

Kanth
Smiling, Raine took the card and glanced around herself before pocketing it in her vest pocket.

Altessa, surprisingly, bowed right back, earning a confused look from Raine as she stood back up, turning to accompany her keeper.

"What was that about?" Raine asked as soon as they were out of earshot, ruffling Altessa's hair affectionately.

"He earned my respect, as others have not." Was her simple reply, as she gave a smirk to Raine, a bit proud of what she had done. She was calming down nicely.

draconianraven
Raven tugged Jett along, off to do their own shopping. She'd remember this. Raine.

Jett remained silent the rest of the trip, just following Raven around, considering Altessa.

It Almost... Smells New?
A Playdate with Liang
In Progress

Dulcea
It was about four o'clock, and Liang was just entering her happy place. Which was, surprisingly, a crowded group of people. But it wasn't the people she enjoyed, it was the things. It was rare for her to find a mainstream clothing place that she liked, so instead she usually looked around lesser known places. Flea markets were her favorite hunting ground lately. But unfortunatey for her, Teagan hated them. He thought they smelled weird, and so it took a lot of pleading, and a tiny bit of blackmail, to convince him to take her. As it was, he had chosen to stay back in the car talking on his cell phone. It suited her just fine though, she preferred to be alone sometimes.

She had become a fair bit less shy as she grew older, and now had no problems chatting with the people that were running the stands here and there. At the moment, she was looking at an interesting booth with a collection of crocheted ponchos. "Which..." she mumbled to herself, comparing the tones of a smooth ivory and a marbled purple. Her fashion sense was certainly a bit off the main road, but she liked it fine. She stayed comfortable, yet conservative. Just as a lady should. But,
despite her new found confidence, decisions were still hard for her.

draconianraven
The boy needed to explore new places. That was the plan. He needed to go out into the world (escorted, of course, as he was still very young) and find out the way things worked and-- more importantly-- the people who worked in it. At least, that was Raven's stance on the whole issue, which led to poor Jett being led from place to place, garnering attempts at experiences.

The newest place? A flea market-- a place where Jett would be plunged into the world of bargaining and false advertising-- not that such words would be used with a child, but still. Jett was... special. This would be a new experience for him, jostling about with the strangers, being surrounded by their strong personalities, everyone seeking a diamond amongst the rough wares being sold.

"Now stay close," Raven instructed her little boy, holding one of his hands tight. She didn't particularly like crowds, but... Jett needed to meet people, and his needs soared above her own.

Dulcea
Liang was quietly searching through the piles of warm wool sweaters when a little boy ran through in front of her. The contact shocked her, she wasn't entirely sure that it was a child after all, and as she often did now when she was startled, she took off. Her large wings threw out a strong gust, knocking over a few people as she screamed and launched herself higher. The colorful girl was a good fifty feet off the ground before she realized it, and when she did, she turned bright red. A few people were staring up at her, and it didn't help her response. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she flew toward a booth of quilts, hoping to find refuge behind them.

draconianraven
Raven swore under her breath as the little girl took to the air. Something exciting always had to happen didn't it? But then there were tears and compassion ruled again, Raven moving towards the pile of quilts with Jett close in hand. "Hello?" Raven whispered gently, glancing closer.

Dulcea
Not letting her fear erase her manners, Liang peeked up out of the quilts at the voice, answering with a wavering, "Hello ma'am." She was still a bit blushed as she showed her face, wishing now that she had one of her fans on hand. "I'm sorry," she said quietly, gesturing to Jett, "Did I scare him? Because if I did I want you to know that I really truly am sorry, I"m not just saying that." She was sort of babbling, trying desperately not to embarass herself any further. Luckily the people that had looked at her now seemed to have returned to their own tasks, and she could calm down a little as she tucked her giant wings back down against her back.

draconianraven
Raven smiled slightly, taking in the little girl. "No, it's fine. Jett doesn't scare easily. Are you all right though?" she asked considering the other. Wings. Brilliant wings. Another D-corp perhaps? Or just another random species on Gaia? Who could really tell?

Jett leaned against Raven, bored. Pretty colors...

A child is expected to know certain things at certain ages.
In order to obtain rights to their Dragon(egg), they must prove they can meet these requirements.

The following sheet is for your child to fill out, with mild help from their guardian, then sent back to D-corp. (PM to the mule)

Also any changes, even minor such as haircuts, should be reported to the D-corp to be logged and filed.

Thankyou,
D-corp.

To See The Eggs
The Egg Visit (With Peri, Altessa, Delta, Caden, and co.)

Kanth
She was with that stupid mage again.

Arms crossed over her chest, Altessa stood there with a sour look on her face, reaching up to fiddle with the skull barette she had in her hair.

"Be on your best behavior," Tiil hissed between his teeth, crossing his arms. Honestly, why couldn't Raine have come-

"Sorry I'm late." Raine ran in, breathing hard as she doubled over. "I'm unused to running..."

"About time." Tiil muttered, his lips curving into a sneer. He didn't like her much. "I'll be leaving, then-" He jerked as Altessa bit into his ankle, letting out a sharp yell. "Take care of this ******** girl! I don't care about her!" Drawing his cloak up about him, he marched out, leaving Raine and Altessa alone.

"I... don't like him not liking you. You're fine." Altessa glanced to Raine, shoulders slumping.

"It's fine. I've had worse." Raine smiled, placing a hand on Altessa's shoulder. "Let's go see your dragon egg." Altessa gave a nod, her expression remaining unchanged.

MoonVixen

Delta and Moon soon arrived at the location they had been told.

"Dragons, Didn't even believe in the things till a while ago. You looking forward to seeing your egg Dee?" Moon beamed to Delta as they waited for someone who would show them about. There were what looked to be another parent and child here but Moon was a bit shy but she smiled to the other pair nervously and gave a wave.

Delta beamed, her tail wagging "I cant believe im getting a pet! Thats so cool. I bet nobody else on our street has a dragon!" she twirled in her skirt making it spin around her. Delta noticed the other girl nearby, she seemed a bit scary but about her age so she smiled happily and waved a hello. Delta knew all the kids like her were mixed with animals but she couldn't pick what the other girl was.. some kind of lizard?

Moon wondered to herself as they waited. She didn't even know what dragons ate, or how big they grew, maybe they would have to get a bigger house... then she would need to get a better job, which meant less time at home... Thinking about things just made Moon fret more.

CatCry
"But why?!" whined Caden, scowling. "I dun wanna see some stupid egg and I don't wanna take care of some stupid dragon!"

"Because D-Corp says you have to." replied Wolfie shortly, unable to come up with a reason that she hadn't already used, short of promising that she would care for the dragon, which she was NOT going to do. Caden might be little now, but he and his dragon-to-come wouldn't be living with her forever. She reached for his arm to drag him into the building, but thought better of it; she was bigger, but they were of equal strength and it would only result in a pointless struggle. Instead, she fixed him with an authoritative stare and directed him to walk in front of her. Ah the power of body language.

Still scowling and spitting out arguements every once in a while, the lionboy marched through the doors with his ears back and tail lashing, but still complient. He fell silent when he saw the other D-corp children, not wanting to make himself look like a fool, and Wolfie smiled to herself. It worked every time.

draconianraven
This... was where they were supposed to be, right? Raven glanced around, holding (one of) Jett's hand(s) tightly in her own. Mysterious circumstances made the girl uneasy-- as did labs in general, but this was for Jett. Recite that enough times and it'll make everything better. All for the little boy.

...there were... people. Some recognizable, others not. The green angry one was here. But not approachable-- never approachable because she was different than others. Not like everyone else who could be talked to and dealt with. Different. Angry and strange. Not bad though.

But... promise of a dragon, a creature belonging to Jett and he to it. That was enough to make the boy curious. Though this kind of curiosity was strange for Jett-- it involved a strange feeling inside of him, crawling around under his skin in a not unpleasant way. There was a word for this. A... anti... anticipation. Wait for it.

Everything was coming quickly.

Perilas_Coleman
Perilas glanced up at the clock. "Alright everyone. Don't wander off and don't touch anything unless I say you can." With that, he turned and started walking off.

He halted the group before an incubator, thick walled and with only a small opening to look in. "This is Altessa's black dragon egg. It's in acid right now. Black dragons love swamps. Any questions?"

Kanth
Altessa smiled. Approaching the incubator, she put both hands beside it and looked in curiously, her tail flicking in slight excitement.

"What else does it do?" Came Altessa's question, as she continued to stare at it; the teacher didn't deserve her gaze. Not yet. Fingers spreading out, she silently thought. She had plans for her dragon, yes.

But whether or not they came to fruition depended on certain circumstances.

draconianraven
Jett blinked, considering Altessa's egg and her question. Black. Black for the green girl. Strange. But fitting. Not bad. It made sense. After all, she was angry and different-- like black. But the black might not be different enough for her. It was her choice though. Whether to like the black or not-- though it was chosen for her. Everything set into place.

Perilas_Coleman
Perilas was a bit worried about this girl. "Well, black dragons can spit acid. They can also swim."

He paused for a moment, then gestured for the group to follow along. "You can either stay here or follow," he told Altessa, then led the group over to another incubator. This one had an egg buried down in sand. "This is Delta's copper egg." He looked at the canine girl. "You can actually hold yours for a few minutes if you'd like." This was one of the few eggs that weren't in flames or acid or ice and could actually be touched for a while.

CatCry
Cadentau huffed and crossed his arms when they got to the first egg. So it was dark and scary looking... and actually pretty cool..he wasn't going to have anything to do with some stupid dragon. He turned his nose up at the Copper egg too, but Wolfie was pleased to see that he no longer dragged his feet and lagged behind the rest of the group.

MoonVixen
Delta's eyes widened as she saw 'her' egg, It wasnt in anything scary like acid, just sand "Its... Beautiful..." It was the prettyest thing she had ever seen, perfect in her eyes.

"Please may I hold it?" Delta asked the man politley holding her hands clasped in excitement. She was going to be able to touch her dragon egg... actuall TOUCH and HOLD it! Delta was so happy, she could hardly believe than in the little egg was a baby dragon.

Perilas_Coleman
Peri smiled and nodded. He reached in and took the copper egg out, gently placing it in the girl's arms. "You can stay here and hold it for a few moments, then your parent can put the egg back in." He didn't want to just sit and wait for that long. The other kids would get restless and start causing trouble.

The man waved the group to follow along, heading towards an incubator that held an egg encompassed by flame. "This is Caden's egg. It's a red dragon and has to be kept in the flame to keep it hot." No touching of this egg, unfortunately.

CatCry
As he squinted through the flames at the glowing black shape, Cadentau felt an unexpected surge of pride. That was his egg in there. His egg, his dragon, and nobody else's, even if he might have to take care of it. That bat girl, Earako, said she had a red dragon too, right? Maybe they could meet again someday. The lionboy actually smiled at the thought. A red dragon fighting at his side. What could be grander than that?

While Caden was the sort that dealt with problems when they came, Wolfie liked to be prepared. Making sure her son was preoccupied with the egg, she stalked over to the instructor and asked quietly, "Just a few questions. How big and how destructive will it get? What does it eat? Are there any special enviromental requirements? and What can you tell me about Red Dragon social structure?" She pulled out a notepad and a writing utensil, ready to jot down the answers. Proper development depended on optimal care and she was planning to research this just as thouroughly as she had researched lions.

Perilas_Coleman
Peri smiled at the woman. Ah, she had questions for him. He liked to see the parents that had already accepted that their child would be taking home a dragon and wanted to know about it. There were those that were still sore about the whole dragon coming home with them business. Those weren't as fun.

"Red dragons are among the largest, reaching up to 22 ft in height. They're about as destructive as the rest, though not as much as the black. It eats meat and likes slightly warmer temperatures." The first questions were easy, but Peri had to pause and think on that last one. Social structure, eh? "Well, red dragons pretty much avoid each other and other dragons. They're too protective of their hoard."

With that, he waved the group on to the last incubator. "And this would be Jett's green dragon egg." He pointed to where the egg was hidden under some leaves. "This is another egg that can be held, if you'd like to."

Kanth
Altessa, having gotten enough time with her egg, glanced up as Raine approached, pointing it out. "S'mine." She murmured softly, knowing no one could hear them. It was rare for Altessa to speak to anyone that way.

"What are you going to name it?" Raine asked, giving her a smile as she reached down to ruffle her hair affectionately.

"Dunno yet." Altessa gave a shrug and turned away, glancing at the others and their eggs, almost as if she was sizing them up. Once she got her dragon... no one would be able to give her any trouble anymore. She could go where she pleased, really. Shoving her hands in her pockets, she remained where she was standing, Raine close by.

It was nice to have someone that cared about what you were doing. Rather unlike Tiil.

CatCry
Wolfie took a deep breath and a grim determined expression settled on her face. Huge, agressive, territorial, completely carnivores. Yup, they were definately moving soon. Maybe out near the mountains with the rest of the family. There would be wide open spaces, lots of edible wildelife, while it was young, the dragon could even go out hunting with the birds..well, there was also the possiblity that it would eat the birds..which was never good, considering how falconry had been her family's proffession for at least the last six generations. But nooo~ Violet had to be the one with the flower name and the PhD. No..she was going to have to move them somewhere else.

Caden was still staring at the Red Dragon egg as if bewitched, although the rest of the group had already moved on. Well, at least that was one obstacle cleared.

draconianraven
Jett simply followed along silently, one hand holding onto Raven's absently. Eggs. Creatures inside the eggs that could do different things. That meant something. What, he couldn't really say, but it was important. Everything would be all right when it worked itself out in his head. When he understood it all.

When his egg's turn came, he blinked at it, considering it for a long moment before going over and staring at it. "...may I... hold it then?" he looked up at Peri.

Green. Green was good, right? Green was... earthy. Earth was stable. Um. At least, Raven hoped she was right on that. "Pardon," she murmured to Peri quietly. "Could you... um... well, how large is it going to be? What can it do? How often is it going to be destroying things? Is there anything in particular we should do to prepare for it?"

Perilas_Coleman
Peri nodded and opened the incubator, taking the egg out to put in the boy's arms. "There you go."

He turned to the mother of the black widow boy. "Well, green's are some of the smallest dragons, only reaching 10 feet in height. Like the other dragons, it'll have a breath weapon and teeth and claws. It'll learn to fly. Greens are some of the more evil dragons and like to fight. They also like forests with trees."

draconianraven
Raven did her best not to grimace at the 'evil' part. Truth be told, she'd been worried about that. "Ah... thanks." At least there was a forest nearby the Nest...

Cradling the egg in his arms, Jett smiled, caressing the tiny object. His. Only his. His pretty little egg.

Into the Woods (Or Not)
A Playdate with Anoki

draconianraven
It had been… well, a while. A while since she'd taken Jett out to meet anyone after finding out about his soon to be evil dragon. And yet, Raven knew she couldn't run from it forever-- perhaps if Jett met enough 'good' people, he wouldn't be evil and his dragon wouldn't be evil either. It was possible. Stranger things had happened. After all, she existed. So did people like Jan.

Right? That was the theory at least.

And thus, off they went to the park, to look around. Jett had taken a keen interest in the ways of the outside world-- at least as far as the woods around the Nest were concerned. That was the good news. The bad news, of course, being that the woods would soon be home to his evil dragon.

Raven just couldn't stop thinking about that. Ah well. Today was for Jett, not for the coming evil. Jett.

DivineSaturn

"C-can't we go t-to the p-park?"

For what felt like the fiftieth time (in fact it was the seventh), Raven gave an exasperated sigh and shook her head. Maybe it wasn't worth the effort she was putting in; the boy clearly wasn't appreciative. But she had an image to uphold. "No, Anoki Kenelm. This is not a playtime visit. This is an educational field trip. You promised you would behave."

That was technically true, he HAD promised to behave, but only because he thought he was going to get to have some fun. Now that Raven's real intentions were revaled, Anoki was fidgeting boredly. He didn't want to study more boring, useless plants. "Just f-for f-five minutes? P-please?"

Raven sighed again. "Very well," she muttered, spotting another pair nearby. Maybe the boy would get fun out of his system and actually get some work done after that. "I'll give you ten. EXACTLY ten. Now go."

Letting out a small cheer of victory, Anoki and Myung-Ki raced for the nearby playground equipment. Even though itwasn't quite as amazing as it been when he was younger, he still had a lot of fun with ordinary things like swings and slides. And better yet, monkey bars!

Not as easily convinced as his partner, Myung-Ki also headed to the monkey bars, but curled around one of the poles supporting them and lay down. He would watch. Physical exertion wasn't becoming to someone like him.

draconianraven
He'd never really been on the playground before, at least, he hadn't before because... well, it just didn't happen that often that he and Raven went out together to do something as unregulated as playing. But that had been the goal today-- to play, to possibly meet others while playing.

Strange. But Jett didn't mind overmuch. It wasn't as if it meant anything either way-- well. An odd creature with horns. Horns and a staff and a bright red dragon. Not like Jett's dragon would be-- his dragon was green, and green wasn't red, it was green. Ah well. Talking. Meet others while playing. That was the goal.

Slipping towards the monkey bars silently, Jett watched Anoki play, keeping an eye on the dragon as well. It wouldn't do to be surprised by them. Wait. Should alert the other to his presence, else there would be surprise, and that might not be good for meeting.

Thus, "Hello," was murmured quietly as the boy watched the other.

DivineSaturn

Monkey bars were much better than jungle gyms, which Anoki had trouble climbing. Carefully resting his staff next to Myung-Ki, he grbbed the first bar with two hands. Then he reached out for the second, grabbed it with one hand, and then the other. He was getting better at this! He reached for the next bar, and then with a stroke of daring tried to grab the one beyond it-

And it was at that point that he was startled by the hello just enough to let go of the bars with both hands. He had enough of his sense about him, however, to land firmly on his feet, and slowly turned to examine the speaker. The first thing he noticed was that he had a lot of arms. And long hair. And was very very black. Anoki had never seen anything quite like him, and his interest was piqued.

"H-hello," he replied, advancing a couple of steps.

Opening one eye lazily, Myung-Ki looked over. The stranger didn't seem to be a threat, so he shut his eye again and went back to basking.

draconianraven
The first instinct for Raven was to rush over and investigate what child Jett had found to play with. However, that would defeat the purpose of wanting the boy to meet others, wouldn't it? Damn. Complexities made her head hurt. So she'd wait. It was better to wait...

The stranger fell and caught himself, a strange feat indeed. But propriety was the essence of meeting others, thus Jett didn't comment on that for the moment. "...you were playing... sorry. I... bothered you?" He still wasn't particularly good at stringing the words together exactly in the way he wanted to, but he'd been getting better at it.

DivineSaturn

Quickly, to assuade the boy, Anoki shook his head faster than some would believe possible for its mass. "N-no! It's ok-kay! I'm okay, s-see? Wh-what's your n-name?"

He wasn't bothered, just surprised, and pleasantly so. He hadn't expected any company other than Raven's and Myung-Ki's, and while the dragon was generally pleasant, his mother was... less so. Genially, he held out one hand the way he'd seen Raven do when meeting new people.

Raven eyed the strange boy curiously, shrugged, and went to take a seat on the nearby bench. Friend or no, they would still leave in ten minutes. Or eight, rather.

draconianraven
Raven took a seat next to the apparent guardian of the other boy. "...hi there," she murmured quietly, eyes never leaving the pair of boys and the strange dragon.

"...Jett," the boy answered, bowing slightly, as was taught by his mother. Mother. Raven. Guardian. Whatever you wanted to call her. "...and you are?" he asked after a momentary pause to consider the boy again. He was... older. Different than Jett, but they came from the same place-- that's why he had a dragon and didn't look like a human but a part human.
DivineSaturn

Jett? Like a plane? Anoki had never seen planes but he'd read a little about them in books. It was strange for a kit to be named after one, but who was he to judge? "I'm Anoki! N-nice t-to meet you, J-jett!"

As if affronted, Myung-Ki raised his head again and growled. He wsn't sure exactly what was going on, but they weren't talking about him and that was a mistake, one that he had to correct.

"And h-he's my dr-dragon. Myung-K-ki." Quick to please, Anoki gestured towards the wyrmling, who seemed to be placated. "D-do you have a dr-dragon?"

Raven didn't even turn her head to look at the other woman. She wasn't in the mood to chit-chat. Of course, it would help that remaining seven minutes pass faster. Playground time was so tedious. "Hello," she finally replied. "Er... is he yours?"

If learning to talk to other parents was a parental requirement, Raven was a failure as a parent. And didn't particularly care.

draconianraven
Bowing slightly to the dragon when he was introduced, Jett turned his gaze back to the boy. "...I have an egg," he explained after a moment. "...it's green." Green and his, resonating within him like nothing else could. Perhaps it was the strange connection of leaves in the wind and the way the egg seemed to shiver when he'd touched it...

"...yes, he is," Raven smiled slightly to herself as she watched her little boy. "And... he's yours?" Such ambiguity, but they both seemed to know what was meant, which was the important thing.

DivineSaturn

Well, that was the first time that anyone had actually bowed to him. Pleased, Myung-Ki nodded his head in a stately manner. If his Person met more good people like that, he would be kept in the manner that befitted him with ease.

"G-green's a nice c-color," Anoki said politely. "I have a dr-dragon t-toy that's g-green." It was still one of his favorites too, even though Myung-Ki didn't seem to like it. But since he favored his real dragon over any of the pretend ones, he figured that things would be okay like that.

Before continuing, Anoki took a quick glance over at the bench. Mama Ray looked like she was talking to someone, so she wasn't going to drag him away just yet. "Wh-what were you d-doing, anyw-way?"

"You could say that," Raven replied, aware that her answer was a bit ambiguous. The question was hardly detailed as it was. "D-Corp, I take it? How did they contact you, if I may ask?"

draconianraven
Doing? What did this stranger mean, what was he doing? Wasn't it obvious? He'd come to the park with his guardian-mother for the purpose most came to the park-- to interact with other individuals, whether they be known or un. Puzzled, Jett blinked slowly at the boy. "...pardon?"

"Indeed... and they just kind of showed up at my doorstep with something akin to a summons," Raven shrugged slightly.

DivineSaturn

"Uh..." Anoki tripped over a few syllables of nonsense, not sure how to explain further and getting more flustered by the moment. Finally he stopped, took a deep breath, and tried again. "Like... th-there's swings, and the sl-slide, and... and th-these!" He gestured up at the monkey bars. "Which d-d-do y-you like?"

The more people she asked, the more Raven started to feel that D-Corp was into some nasty business. What else could it be if force and blackmail were required? Still, as a (well paid) employee, she kept her mouth shut on that matter, and decided to intoduce herself. After all, someday her child would be one of her students, and it was never too soon to establish a position of power. "I see. Then our situations are not to dissimilar," she said softly. Likening herself to the woman might make her seem symathetic, in turn making her privy to more information. "My name is Raven Millner," she added, holding out her hand. "I am a teacher for the institution, in the area of magical instruction."

draconianraven
Jett blinked, considering all. "...any." Because the little boy really wasn't really picky about anything. "And you?"

Raven couldn't help but smile. "A small world then, Miss Raven. I'm also called Raven."

DivineSaturn

Raven raised an eyebrow. "A coincidence indeed, miss." And not one that she liked. It wasn't the first time that she had met someone with her name, but that didn't make it any less awkward, and she disliked finding herself in awkward situations. She combed her mind but couldn't think of an alternate subject, so she simply kept her mouth shut. This was why she hated inane chit-chat.

Asking Anoki to pick a favorite was dangerous. He took such questions entirely too seriously, and debated for quite some time on even the simplest matter. "Th-there's so m-many! The sl-slide is fun, b-b-but s-so sh-short! B-but the monkey b-bars t-take practice. Th-the swings are f-fun, b-but th-they make you t-tired. B-but I th-think they're m-my favorite."

draconianraven
"So then, Miss Raven," Raven started, as it was obvious the other was more than a little uncomfortable with the situation, "...may I ask how you came to work for D-corp? Or is that classified?"

Nodding slowly, Jett considered. "...the swings... being on them is like... flying." And it was, in some respects. For those without wings, it was the closest they could get to flying without anyone else's help.

DivineSaturn

Raven laughed, a bit too darkly to be considered anything but a cackle. "No, I suppose it isn't classified. Simply put, I was looking for a position after leaving my old one, and D-Corp had a good offer. The side effects-" she gestured towards Anoki and Myung-Ki- "can be inconvenient, but irrelevant in the long run. Why do you ask?"

Bobbing his head up and down in evident agreement, Anoki giggled. "Th-that's what I th-think too!" Then, with some more thought, he started walking towards the swings. "If you l-like, I c-can p-push you. On th-the swings, I m-mean," he added quickly.

draconianraven
"Mainly curiosity," Raven admitted after a moment. "I like hearing about people's stories." It came as a side effect of having a fairly odd one herself. Like most individuals on Gaia, Raven came from somewhat dubious circumstances, leading as normal a life as she could eke out.

Blinking, Jett considered the boy for a long moment before nodding slowly. "...all right," he agreed, unsure about it, but willing to take a chance. He wasn't used to... people, but it was good practice.

DivineSaturn

"Really?" Raven raised her eyebrows, clearly surprised. She generally hated hearing about people's personal lives, unless she was doing it to gain their trust or to learn some sort of classified information. Most people she talked to liked to prattle on endlessly about the most boring things, making Raven want to rip her head off. She made a point to keep her speeches short wherever possible, for secrecy as well as brevity. Unless of course the topic was magical theory, in which case all bets were off.

Wow, he'd actually agreed! Giddy with excitement, Anoki proceeded to the nearest swing, but didn't sit. Instead he stood next to it and started to stretch his arms, clasping his hands and swinging them over his head. He wanted to be limber and ready to push with his all.

When he was finally all stretched out, he turned to Jett and gave a thumbs up. "R-ready!"

draconianraven
"Indeed. It lets me remember that each person is... important, I suppose," Raven shrugged slightly. "Every person's connected, if only through the fact that we're all made up similarly." Clinical, and yet it still managed to sound sappy when she said it. Great. She'd never be taken seriously.

Jett sat slowly, considering Anoki for a moment before nodding to him that he was ready as well. One pair of hands gripped the chains while the other rested slowly by his side.

DivineSaturn

Oh, wonderful, she was talking to a hippie. Briefly raising her gaze to the sky, Raven simply nodded. Her best option would probably be to leave off the conversation there. "I see."

They were both ready! Grinning, Anoki grabbed the chains of the swing just below where Jett was holding on, and pulled them back. He managed to step back, pulling the swing, for a few feet before it got too heavy for him, and he let go. The swing swung forward, and Anoki chased after it, giving the swinger a firm push in the back to really get things moving.

draconianraven
Raven laughed, unexpectedly, giving no reason for the sound. She didn't care if someone else didn't understand what she meant. Everyone was made up of the same base molecules, the DNA strands... it meant something. In a very literal sense.

Jett let Anoki push him, feeling the wind blow through his long hair, teasing it. His legs moved, bending slowly, then relaxing to try to pump himself further into the air.

DivineSaturn

It looked like Jett was secure. And why not? He had four hands, even if only two of them were holding on at the moment. Encouraged, Anoki pushed again, this time harder, and watched with satisfaction as the swing went higher into the air. It was tiring, pushing like that, but fun enough for Anoki to want to continue.

But Raven had other ideas. She was tired of sitting like a bump on a bench, talking with some idealistic double. She was no soccer mom. Raven Millner was a researcher, a teacher, and had better things to do.

"Come, Anoki Kenelm!" she said loudly, standing up.

Anoki didn't hear, too busy giving Jett another push.

draconianraven
"...your Mother is calling," Jett murmured to Anoki the next time gravity drew him near the other boy. "I think she wants to take you home already." It was bad to get others in trouble...

Raven just watched the other call to her child. She knew Jett would come back when he was ready. Such differences in styles, personalities between two Ravens-- not that Raven really doubted that. She'd dealt with doppelgängers before-- or rather, her own doppelgänger-- and knew better than to think too much on it.
DivineSaturn

"I d-didn't hear anyth-thing," Anoki lied, giving Jett another push. They had only just started, and he wanted to see just how high he could push the swing. He'd seen other people, mostly adults, actually push it while running underneath, but that was a little scary. While Anoki wanted to try it, he didn't think he was ready just yet.

If Anoki hoped that Raven would be patient, he would find himself out of luck. "Anoki Kenelm, you will come here now!" Sighing, she glanced at the other Raven with a look that said 'it's your kid too, do something.' Not that she expected anything from such a poor imitation.

draconianraven
Raven tried to resist laughing at the other mother as she rose obediently at that annoyed glance, walking over towards the swings. "Jett, come over here," she called as she moved.

Now, Anoki might be able to ignore his mother, but Jett didn't ignore Raven. Well, at least, not without a really, really good reason. So he did the first thing he could think of, since Anoki obviously didn't want to head home yet.

He jumped off the swing, tumbling to the ground in a ball of dark limbs and knotting hair.

Raven inwardly swore and moved faster to go collect her foolish spider child. Trust Jett to do something extreme...

DivineSaturn

Raven couldn't help but smirk as the spider child tumbled to the ground. Anoki might have been disobedient and occasionally clumsy, but at least he didn't hurt himself constantly anymore. In her eyes, she had the better child, and knowing that gave her pleasure.

Already close enough to help, Anoki quickly dropped to his knees and extended a hand towards Jett, hoping to help the younger boy up. "I'm s-sorry! Did I p-push t-too hard? I d-didn't mean it! A-are you ok-kay?"

draconianraven
"Mother was calling," Jett shrugged as he took Anoki's hand and stood, brushing the dirt off himself. Otherwise he was fairly unharmed, having rolled as opposed to letting himself get tangled on the ground. "Time for me to go," he explained, giving the other boy a slight smile.

"Too extreme, Jett," Raven sighed as she took another of Jett's hands. "Now say goodbye to your friend, and let's go, sweetheart."

"Goodbye, Anoki. And Myung-Ki," Jett turned to bow slightly to the dragon.

Raven rolled her eyes slightly at Jett's formality. "It was a pleasure to meet all of you."

DivineSaturn

So it had been his fault that Jett had gotten hurt. Or not, since the younger boy seemed okay, but it was difficult to tell. Either way, it probably would have been better had Anoki followed instructions. "I'm s-sorry! B-bye, Jett!"

"Yes, a pleasure," Raven echoed coldly. "Come, Anoki Kenelm. It's time for your lessons to continue."

Sighing, Anoki dragged himself back to the benches, pausing at the slide to shake Myung-Ki awake. It seemed like he would have to work on the whole listening thing, if he wanted to avoid hurting people. Being older meant responsibilities, and he didn't like that one bit.

The Bookstore
A Playdate with Altessa and Alora
In Progress

draconianraven
Raven stepped inside the bookstore, holding one of Jett's hands. Normally, she would've gone alone, but today neither Winter nor Arch were about to watch Jett, and... well, that left taking the kid with her. Not that she minded Jett's company, it was just... the bookstore and the surrounding area weren't exactly places for a kid to play.

Though... there was a section where kids could go and hang out while their parents looked elsewhere, complete with adults to keep an eye on the kids. It was just that Raven didn't often trust others-- even other Gaians-- not to be judgmental of kids who were different than others. Especially such strange crossbreeds as the D-corp kids.

Ah well. "Go play, and behave yourself, all right, Jett?" she murmured, considering the books after making sure there were the promised guardians.

She worried too much. His mother-person. Raven. She worried too much. He would be fine looking around on his own.

Kanth
"You'll find the arts and crafts book over there." Kanth murmured softly to Altessa, ruffling her hair gently before walking up to the counter to order a coffee drink. Altessa raised an eyebrow before heading that direction, intent on making these 'skull candies' she invented, or rather, thought up.

It was then that she spotted Jett, and halted in her pace. Curiosity enveloped her, and she drew forward softly until she was right beside him, glancing at whatever he was doing.

Not a word was said as she raised her hand and gave a short, boyish wave.

melodymh4
Melody figured that she might as well buy some picture books for Alora, after Mereneth, in his excitement of reading them, had burned up every single one of the books in the house. Her hand was clasped around the tiny hand of the little girl, who was now wearing a simple white dress and sandals.

"All right, you go find your books kay? I'll meet you back here later." Melody had enough confidence in Alora; the dove girl wouldn't follow strangers, she knew. And anyway, she wanted to find some books to read as well.

Alora nodded before scampering off, a little intrigued by the piles and piles of books around her. Peering around a corner, she suddenly froze, her blue eyes watching the spider boy and the other...scaly looking girl.

draconianraven
Angry green one. Different one. Altessa. Jett smiled slightly at the girl in response to the wave. "...hello again. Altessa," he added. Showing that he remembered the name. That meant something, didn't it? To remember a name, it showed that you thought there was something important-- important enough to remember.

Kanth
"I am pleased you've remembered." Altessa rumbled, shoving her hands in her pockets and leaning back a small bit. "And you speak a lot more." Idly, Altessa wondered if it was just her company that did that, or if it was the reason he grew.

Her eye twinged, and Altessa turned to look at Alora, eyes narrowing at the feathers that cascaded from her back. She would do nothing, however, unless the bird decided to be... stupid.

melodymh4
Alora seemed to like watching people. She wasn't much of a talker just yet, still a little wary of her surroundings. She watched as both of them greeted each other; it seemed like they even knew each other.

Suddenly, as Altessa turned, Alora was frightened at the look she gave her, her feathers ruffling in a defensive way. She didn't exactly like this girl, she didn't know why. It wasn't because she had spotted the dove girl watching; Ligeia did that too, and she liked her...him, didn't she? This girl just seemed to give her the creeps.

draconianraven
Jett's gaze followed Altessa's, spotting the dove. Well. A little... creature. White this one, unlike the blue and the green and the multi-colored that he'd met before. How strange... but not bad. Altessa didn't seem to like her much-- but that was part of her difference, that anger that made her dislike others.

"...you made an impression," Jett shrugged slightly at the girl's first comment, letting the second slide by-- for the answer he'd given could reply to both, couldn't it? "...the little one is watching."

Kanth
"Yes." Altessa sighed, closing her eyes for a moment as she withdrew, still standing in the same spot she stood. She could feel the other's fear... quite easily. Was this what the woman was talking about?

Nonetheless, she had no inkling to act on it, now. She was around Jett. Nothing was wrong, therefore she didn't need to use it.

melodymh4
And now the spider boy spotted her too. Unlike the other, he seemed rather indifferent of her. And at least he didn't give her that kind of stare too. It was rather scary.

Alora wondered for a moment whether she could continue staring at them, but decided against it, still a little freaked by Altessa. Instead, she plucked a rather colourful book from the bookshelf and flipped through it, her eyes grazing through it curiously.

draconianraven
It appeared Altessa wasn't wont to act upon the little one's prying-- perhaps it was due to the dove's interest in the book? No... the little one was interested in the book because of... Altessa. Strange the way people did things to remove themselves from fear.

A sudden thought, Jett carefully, quickly weaving something together from his webs, careful to make it not quite as sticky as he usually did. "Why are you here today... if I can ask?" Jett queried as he worked, careful to add in the last. He didn't want to offend Altessa.

Kanth
Altessa had to think on this a moment, her eyes focusing on nothing in particular as she breathed out. "... candy." She had nearly forgotten. Then, all hatred dissipating in an instant, Altessa slid over to beside the dove girl and reached up. "'scuse me."

Pulling out a thick book, Altessa staggered back at the weight and opened it up, leaning against the bookshelf as she idly glanced at Jett's web, curious at what he was making. He'd tell her soon enough, if he wished to.

"Something with skulls on it. Cute, but deadly, somewhat. Got the idea from Medusa-sis."

melodymh4
Alora might have reached up for the book only to escape Altessa's fury, as Jett had thought, but she found that she was interested in it anyway. She let a hand touch the pages, grazing across pictures of birds, which intrigued her because of the wings and the fact that she had bird DNA as well.

Candy? Her ears perked up, still listening to the conversation the two had.

draconianraven
Medusa... sis? Dusa... the strange blue girl-- related to Altessa? It boggled the mind somewhat. Jett blinked, considering this before dismissing it. After all, it wasn't his business, it didn't matter much. Didn't make either less than the other. "Candy...?" Sweets. "May I help?"

Because... that's what one offered to do to those they considered 'friends', whatever the word really meant, wasn't it? Help. Assist.

The dove was listening still. She seemed... milder than the others Jett had met-- or was that only because she was smaller than Jett was now? Ah well.

And the web! The web... not that sticky, but... it wasn't supposed to be. Ah. Almost done... a loop, and... there. To be given at the right moment.

Kanth
The Bandersnatch had to smirk at this. "She lives in the same place. She is kin, but not by blood." She smiled at the fact Jett was interested in the candy, and opened the book wider. "Yes, you may help."

Her eyes flickered over to the bird, now curious. She wasn't annoying like the other two she'd met (though Cleo had far proven herself), and Altessa rather liked this.

Now to find out the bird's personality. She knew how to keep her nose out of trouble, it seemed.

melodymh4
Altessa was right, Alora couldn't be exactly annoying even if she tried. The dove girl was still on the verge of being scared of strangers quite easily.

So maybe they wanted to make candy. Alora wondered how candy was even made, how they made it sweet and some chewy, some not, and...and... She could let her imagination run wild.

And the spider boy seemed to be making something. A web, of sorts. She could peek at it from the very corner of the eye, still pretending to be staring at the book.

draconianraven
Jett nodded slowly, considering things as he finished what he'd been making. The little dove was still paying attention to them, even though she was trying to pretend she wasn't. Altessa was considering. "I see," he finally remarked, "and thank you," he added to the last.

Glancing at Altessa, the boy offered her the web necklace-- it wasn't sticky any longer, instead resembling delicate, lacy skulls. "For you," he smiled slightly.

Kanth
Slightly shocked, Altessa bowed her head slightly, closing her eyes as she replied in a rather soft voice. "I appreciate the gesture." She'd allow the other to put it on, if he so wished.

It was rare for Altessa to trust another, but it seemed that Jett was one of the few that had earned her trust.

melodymh4
That was nice of the boy, Alora remarked to herself, admiring the details he had put in the web necklace, and wondering how he could do that. To produce the stuff and to weave it in that manner. Hmmm...perhaps he was just good with his hands. Perhaps she had to research up on the animal he was and how they did that.

And he seemed to have subdued the scaly girl with his gesture. A smile came over her face. It was always nice when people could be friends, instead of fighting with each other. It sickened the girl to watch the news and see reports of murders of some people. Why couldn't all people get along?

draconianraven
Smiling slightly, Jett moved to fasten the necklace around Altessa's neck. The skulls suited her-- skulls were seen as dangerous or symbols of such or something, which reminded Jett of the girl.

It could be misinterpreted that Jett was showing affection-- but it was simply... a gesture, really? He had met Altessa three times now-- though that visit to see the eggs didn't necessarily count-- and being that he'd met her so many times and each time she'd presented an interesting characteristic (more often than not more than one), Jett felt the need to recognize that individuality.

Had Jett thought of the possible misinterpretations, he might have been more careful about giving the gift in front of the dove, but... the spider boy was straightforward for the most part, if a bit off. "...it suits you."

Kanth
Altessa had to admit that it was rather pleasant to be treated this way; like her, Jett was unique, and Altessa wished that she could give him some sort of gift in return for... for what, exactly? Altessa didn't really know, but brought the book up again and thumbed through it, finally spotting the skull candies that were pink and white, and looked rather delectable, really.

"Hmmmm." She breathed, eyes keen on the page. It took a lot of ingredients, but was it really worth making?

melodymh4
Alora was just a toddler, it wasn't as if she would misintepret it as both of them were well, a pair. And besides her mother was single. But in her own way, she approved.

draconianraven
Considering the page Altessa seemed to be looking at, Jett nodded slightly to himself. They would be something he would think of Altessa with, those candies. "Are those the ones you plan to make?" Jett asked quietly after a moment. It would fit. That would make sense.

But a long list usually meant complications, and complications arising meant difficulties... but that was all right. Altessa was resourceful. She'd work through it.

Beacuse Shopping Is... Fun?
A Playdate with Narayan
In Progress

naeodin
Narayan wasn't usually left on his own in a shop with cash in his pocket. But this was a special occasion-- kind of. He was planning on making christmas presents, and what better way then to hand make something? That was his excuse, anyways. Christmas Present Shopping. And it had worked well enough in keeping JD outside the store.

And what a beautiful store it was. Out of all the little nooks, and the stalls and the gigantic malls, Narayan loved the two storey art supply shop the most. And it showed! With an expression of retardic glee stretched across face, a little basket in one hand full of new brushes and different colored paint tubes, the boy was in heaven.

What would complete it, would be a couple of the models from his new Sports Illustrated magazine. But he knew better then to ask for all that. Besides, he couldn't handle all of that at the same time. The boy was happy enough as it was.

"Ribbons." looking down at the scrawled writing on the note he held in one hand, he shifted-- the basket was getting kind of heavy now-- his grip slightly, pausing to set it down in front of him. "String. Yarn."

Yeah. All that stuff. Hopefully his rudimentary counting skills would be enough to save him from an embarressing scene later, in front of the cashier.

draconianraven
He'd been given a set amount of time because, well, frankly, Raven was only going to be gone for so long, and Aunt Arch didn't want to get in too much trouble. But they'd wandered from place to place-- and now they were wandering through an art store while Arch wandered through a... a shop that she wouldn't let the boy in.

Thus, Jett had found amusement in this large... strange place. And-- that was another child. Like himself. But with a trunk. Strange to meet another and another and another...

"...hello," Jett murmured in passing.

naeodin
"String?" the word left his mouth before he could think and he paused, staring at the dark form. Wooow. Look at all those extra arms! And she was so pretty too!

She was a definitly a good boobie. Boobie meaning girl, of course. Except... well. Narayan speech.

"Can you do alot of things at once?" it was quite obssessive, this habit of Narayan's of checking out other peoples extra appendages. (Hopefully this wouldn't grow to be too perverted in the future...) and look at all that long hair! And so dark. Pretty.

Waving his nose at the person and then at the variety of colored string, he nodded his head. "Can you help me?"

After all, the boy had two hands and a nose. And while he was good at using his nose for some things, picking up little bundles of string was... well. Frustrating.

draconianraven
Jett blinked at the strange creature. "...I suppose," Jett considered the other before grabbing the aforementioned string, a ball in each of his hands. "Where would you like them?" he asked, considering the boy.

naeodin
They all worked! Well, of course they did. Still, he continued to stare. Lifting up his arm and pointing to it with his nose at the same time, he nodded. "In here is good. Thanks!" Well, this was good. Why hadn't he thought about bringing a multi limbed person along to help him before? This cut down his own workload by half.

"My da told me you need to give things to other people for Christmas, if you want to get things too." yeah, share age old wisdom with the pretty black girl, why don't he. Pausing as he looked at the list, he nodded. "I'm Narayan."

Maybe the pretty black girl would have a name too! Hurray for children and their misconceptions.

draconianraven
"Mother said you give to others without expecting anything in return," Jett murmured quietly, but not judging-- after all, who knew? Everyone had different ideas. "My name is Jett."

Strange trunk-ed creature. Ah well. This... Narayan wasn't the oddest person he'd met...

naeodin
"Jett? You're really pretty." maybe Jett would let him paint him one of these days. And the thing the creature had said? "Really? Your ma thinks differently from my da... maybe they should meet!"

It was always fun having two different people meet.

Deciding that he had finished with everything on his list, he peered down at his basket. "I've got everything now... what are you doing here, Jett? Do you plan on making stuff too?" he asked.

draconianraven
"Mother... might approve of that," Jett nodded, considering the suggestion, ignoring the comment about himself. After all, what else could he say? "...I was... exploring. I'm here with my Aunt. She had to go look at things alone."

naeodin
"Aunt? Is she pretty?" It was an automatic question as he looked around, deciding that maybe if she was, it would be good. The world needed more pretty people. It was something Narayan decided he would have to raise. An issue, if you will.

You know. Because adults talked about 'issues' all the time.

"Can I help you with stuff?" He had finished himself. Besides. He was interested. Curious. What was this person who spoke so much more formally than he did?

draconianraven
Pretty... well, Jett supposed so. He knew others thought his aunt was pretty, so why not? "...I suppose she's pretty. And... I'm not sure what I would need help with yet," Jett mused after a moment. He'd come in here because it held a variety of things he'd never seen before, brightly colored things he'd never considered. Ah well. Not something to do-- consider when you were around others-- they might take offense. "I'm just looking around."
naeodin
Just looking around? Well, that was nice. "I don't really really like stuff like this." he said, pointing to the string he was holding onto. Well, it was certainly pretty enough, and sometimes like now he was inspired to make presents out of it. But really? "I like to paint." his eyes brightened as he looked at Jett. Jett was pretty, certainly! And interesting to look at too.

"Can I paint you?" he asked. Not now, of course. But it was a habit Narayan was starting to pick up-- approaching random people and asking this rather obtrusive question.

Not that Narayan was any good, of course. He just liked to ask. And besides, his father was always telling him practicing was a good thing. Heck. Anything that kept the boy out of trouble, was a good thing.

"I like it. I'm kinda good at it." he said, nodding his head. Modesty, thy name was not Narayan. "And it'd be good."
draconianraven
"...if you want to," Jett shrugged eloquently. "It's your own choice what you paint." If this Narayan wanted to paint Jett, who was the spider-boy to stop him? A painting wouldn't affect Jett in any way, shape, or form-- thus there wasn't a reason Jett could think of to object or encourage. The little boy didn't care either way, didn't care about most things.

Shots for Jett
Vaccinations for Jett

Madeline Crossette

Sighing, the tidy and polished teacher looked out of the frosty window of the doctors office. Since when had winter come so soon? Lately things for Madeline had been going...down hill. Being called in for shots today hadn't exactly helped that. Usually, things always went bad.

Picking up the floder D-corp had given her, Madeline patiently awaited for the next child to walk through the door.

draconianraven
Jett followed Raven obediently into the room, not glancing up at his mother-- he didn't need to. He could sense her nervousness-- nervous because she wasn't sure what was going to happen, how he would react. The little boy had gotten quite adept at reading his mother, now that he'd stopped to try.

But this place-- clean, pristine... different than any other he'd been to before...

Raven sighed as she slipped into the doctor's office with Jett. She hoped this would go over well...

Madeline Crossette
Busy with getting all the preparations out of the way, a blonde head spun around just in time to watch parent and child make their entrance.

"Hello, if you could have Jett take a seat over there, " the teacher blushed slightly and beamed proudly. She had been studying these children's names a good part of the morning, and had seemed to remember this ones name, "We'll be able to get started."

"Oh--and forgive me for my lack of introductions. Terribly sorry-- but please call me Ms. Crossette," If it had once been pride Madeline's cheeks were pink over, her face now burned bright red with embarrassment.

draconianraven
Raven smiled gently, leading Jett over to the aforementioned seat. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Crossette-- I'm Raven, and as you've already guessed, this is Jett. Jett, say hello," she instructed the little boy gently.

"...hello," Jett murmured obediently, taking the seat and glancing at Ms. Crossette only briefly. He was more interested in the room-- how was it so clean?

Madeline Crossette
Sashying over to her counter of medical supplies, Madeline picked up the all ready prepared tray of vaccinations she had set out.

Secretly the woman smiled as she heard the little boy greet her back. Memory may have been a bit off, but Madeline was sure that was the only child to ever say, "Hello" back. Not just, "hi" but a full blown greeting.

"Ready?" Madeline's head peaked about her shoulder eyeing Jett before she walked over and put on a pair of white doctors gloves.

"I'm just going to give you a few shots,--arm please? And would you please look over there." The substitute pointed to a brightly colored poster behind her.

draconianraven
Glancing obediently in the other direction and offering Madeline her choice of arms, Jett murmured his readiness. There was no need for anything else but to speak when spoken to in this instance-- Madeline, this strange woman, was older than him, a figure of some authority.

Madeline Crossette
If Madeline had recieved more well behaved children in the past she might have found Jett's behavior to be odd, un-normally quiet for a child his age and amazingly obedient. Never the less all the substitute had ever had to deal with were children who liked to cause trouble.

Briskly taking the nearest arm, Madeline went strait to work. At first she hesitated but the child didn't seem to be flinching and so she continued finishing up rather quickly.

"You were most wonderful," the sub commented as she pulled of the set of protective gloves.

draconianraven
Without being prompted by Raven, Jett gave Madeline a smile and murmured, "Thank you," before rising and going back to his guardian. It hadn't hurt, merely pinpricks of pressure gliding through his arm. Raven'd said it might hurt, but it hadn't-- thus, not a lie on her part, but merely a miscalculation.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Raven took Jett's hand, murmuring her thanks to this Ms. Crossette as well before leading Jett out of the office. Time to go home, consider that then... rather than focus on the now. Go back home and relax. Vaccinations could be nasty things, but they were done...

Madeline Crossette
Satisfied that the entire process had been un-eventful Madeline shut the door behind the pair as they left.

It was strange, Jett was such a good child...everything a parent could hope for. Why couldn't her son be like that? Even if it did mean Keivlos acting more grown up than he was, it would have made life so much more simple.

A Skill To Be Learned...
One-on-One Class for Jett
In Progress

Tessa Avery
A spider kid why of ******** why did it have to be a spider kid. Tessa had made it very clear when she was hired that spiders and herself were not a good combination. Naturally she expected to have any spider dna bareing children sent to the other skills teacher. Apparently she has expected wrong.

Now she found herself pacing her classroom like usual only today she was nervous as heck. Forcing herself to stand still as she waited she eyed the foam balls that were part of today's lesson. Poor innocent foam balls.

draconianraven
...Raven thought she had every right to be nervous. In a short period of time she'd found out that not only was her little boy going to have an EVIL DRAGON as his pet and probably near constant companion, but now he was going to meet a TEACHER.

Not that those two had anything in common, but still.

What if the teacher didn't like him? How would that affect Jett's growth? Raven had always been fond of homeschooling her children, but special skills required special kinds of teachers and... well, Raven just wasn't equipped for that. That was the only-- the only reason she'd agreed to this.

Not that she'd had much of a choice in the matter. But, nevertheless, she knocked on the classroom door, loathe to go inside without invitation. Maybe the teacher wouldn't be there.

Who was Raven kidding? Anyone employed by D-corp would probably be reliable about these appointments to a fault.
Tessa Avery
Tessa jumped at the sound of the knock then swiftly walked across the the room to open the door. " Please come in, sorry about that usually I just leave the door open." The words tumbled out of her mouth but managed to keep their coherency. This was going to be a long nervewracking class.

draconianraven
Smiling slightly, Raven considered Tessa for a moment before slipping inside. Tessa was nervous-- though of course that could be expected. Meeting a black widow child for the first time could be... well, terrifying if you didn't know what you were getting into. "You're the teacher we're to be seeing today?" Raven cocked her head to the side, keeping Jett near.

Tessa Avery
( Massive apology for the wait time sweatdrop )

Tessa nodded " I'm Tessa Avery, I prefer to be called Tessa but for children or parents who feel formal speech is required Ms. Avery will work." The words were well rehearsed as she'd used them several times before with other students and their respective parents.

She let her gaze slide over to Jett " Today's lesson may seem a bit boring but it's important both for you and for our own records. It's not really dangerous so if you're more comfortable with your mother not watching it's not required." Not that Tessa really wanted to be alone with the spider boy.

draconianraven
((It's fine! ^_^))

Considering his mother, then his teacher, Jett shrugged slightly. Both women obviously wanted Raven in the room, so who was he to argue? "...Mother can stay if she wants," he murmured before glancing at Tessa again. "What will we be doing today, Ms. Tessa?" he asked in that quiet way.

Tessa Avery
Tessa nodded and smiled " We'll be recording your ability to inject venom and testing if you can control when to inject and how much venom you use." the explanation was simple, the process not so much. Still hopefully this lesson wouldn't take too long.

She motioned towards the foam balls on table " These are different textures and have different hardness to them. they have all also been weighed with the most precise scale we have. Even a gram of vemon added to them will be recorded."

draconianraven
Considering the balls for a long moment, Jett nodded slowly. "...I'll do my best," he promised before moving closer. "What exactly should I do?" he asked after another moment.

Venom. Wonderful. Evil dragon and venom. Raven hid her darker thoughts grudgingly, mildly displeased with all of this. She knew Jett was a black widow child, but still! Venom. It had to be venom. Poison.

...::2.20.07::...

I'm terrified, when it comes right down to it. I want Jett to be a normal, happy kid. I want him to be good. I don't want him to be someone who's evil-- but he's not evil. He's not evil. I won't let him be evil. But I'm terrified because his dragon's supposed to be evil. Not that you can stereotype-- but every stereotype is based on truth. Y'know?

No, I suppose you don't. Stereotype-- the definition of a stereotype is "a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing". Which says that it's oversimplified. It's not anything which to base everything on.

And yet... I can't get it out of my head. I'm terrified. Terrified of things going very wrong.

I suppose I should blame it on my family-- everyone else does. But the truth is, I think I'm more scared of the possibility of seeing a reflection than of anything my family could've caused.

Am I a good enough mother to keep Jett from being evil? I can only hope. I can't know. Not yet.

I'm not a good mother in many respects, even though I'm the one who's most suited for the task. I'm too flighty, too harsh-- and yet, I can't help but want to take care of them. What Jett really needs, I think, is a reason to be good. We all need reasons. But what could be Jett's?

I almost want to make him responsible for someone else. Almost, because to make him completely such would be terrifying. He's so young, yet I worry...

I'll figure this out in time. That's all I have now-- time.

~Raven.

Coffee, or Something Like It...
A Playdate with Drez
In Progress

draconianraven
Breathe slowly. It was warm again inside the coffee shop, warmer than the bitter cold outside. Pulling Jett in, Raven grimaced slightly as she closed the door against the cold, letting the warmth suffuse her body slowly. Slipping her mittens off, she helped Jett do the same on all of his hands, trying to warm up.

"Well then... what shall we get you to drink?" she asked, considering the menu.

"...chocolate's good," Jett murmured after a moment, shrugging off his scarf as well. One of the disadvantages of having so many arms was that Raven insisted on bundling all of them up when they went out, which led to bulky clothes, too warm.

naggeela
Walking into the coffee shop, Val shivers slightly as her body is warming up. Drez on the other hand was very glad that they were out of the cold, for his belly scales were like ice and he didn't like that feeling. Also he was glad that he had on a thick jacket on, taking off his gloves just as his mother was and stoded them in the pockets of his jacket.

"So what do you want?" asking Drez as she was looking at the menu.
