Sighing, the tidy and polished teacher looked out of the frosty window of the doctors office. Since when had winter come so soon? Lately things for Madeline had been going...down hill. Being called in for shots today hadn't exactly helped that. Usually, things always went bad.

Picking up the floder D-corp had given her, Madeline patiently awaited for the next child to walk through the door.

Jett followed Raven obediently into the room, not glancing up at his mother-- he didn't need to. He could sense her nervousness-- nervous because she wasn't sure what was going to happen, how he would react. The little boy had gotten quite adept at reading his mother, now that he'd stopped to try.

But this place-- clean, pristine... different than any other he'd been to before...

Raven sighed as she slipped into the doctor's office with Jett. She hoped this would go over well...

Busy with getting all the preparations out of the way, a blonde head spun around just in time to watch parent and child make their entrance.

"Hello, if you could have Jett take a seat over there, " the teacher blushed slightly and beamed proudly. She had been studying these children's names a good part of the morning, and had seemed to remember this ones name, "We'll be able to get started."

"Oh--and forgive me for my lack of introductions. Terribly sorry-- but please call me Ms. Crossette," If it had once been pride Madeline's cheeks were pink over, her face now burned bright red with embarrassment.

Raven smiled gently, leading Jett over to the aforementioned seat. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Crossette-- I'm Raven, and as you've already guessed, this is Jett. Jett, say hello," she instructed the little boy gently.

"...hello," Jett murmured obediently, taking the seat and glancing at Ms. Crossette only briefly. He was more interested in the room-- how was it so clean?

Sashying over to her counter of medical supplies, Madeline picked up the all ready prepared tray of vaccinations she had set out.

Secretly the woman smiled as she heard the little boy greet her back. Memory may have been a bit off, but Madeline was sure that was the only child to ever say, "Hello" back. Not just, "hi" but a full blown greeting.

"Ready?" Madeline's head peaked about her shoulder eyeing Jett before she walked over and put on a pair of white doctors gloves.

"I'm just going to give you a few shots,--arm please? And would you please look over there." The substitute pointed to a brightly colored poster behind her.

Glancing obediently in the other direction and offering Madeline her choice of arms, Jett murmured his readiness. There was no need for anything else but to speak when spoken to in this instance-- Madeline, this strange woman, was older than him, a figure of some authority.

If Madeline had recieved more well behaved children in the past she might have found Jett's behavior to be odd, un-normally quiet for a child his age and amazingly obedient. Never the less all the substitute had ever had to deal with were children who liked to cause trouble.

Briskly taking the nearest arm, Madeline went strait to work. At first she hesitated but the child didn't seem to be flinching and so she continued finishing up rather quickly.

"You were most wonderful," the sub commented as she pulled of the set of protective gloves.

Without being prompted by Raven, Jett gave Madeline a smile and murmured, "Thank you," before rising and going back to his guardian. It hadn't hurt, merely pinpricks of pressure gliding through his arm. Raven'd said it might hurt, but it hadn't-- thus, not a lie on her part, but merely a miscalculation.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Raven took Jett's hand, murmuring her thanks to this Ms. Crossette as well before leading Jett out of the office. Time to go home, consider that then... rather than focus on the now. Go back home and relax. Vaccinations could be nasty things, but they were done...

Satisfied that the entire process had been un-eventful Madeline shut the door behind the pair as they left.

It was strange, Jett was such a good child...everything a parent could hope for. Why couldn't her son be like that? Even if it did mean Keivlos acting more grown up than he was, it would have made life so much more simple.
