Raven stepped inside the bookstore, holding one of Jett's hands. Normally, she would've gone alone, but today neither Winter nor Arch were about to watch Jett, and... well, that left taking the kid with her. Not that she minded Jett's company, it was just... the bookstore and the surrounding area weren't exactly places for a kid to play.
Though... there was a section where kids could go and hang out while their parents looked elsewhere, complete with adults to keep an eye on the kids. It was just that Raven didn't often trust others-- even other Gaians-- not to be judgmental of kids who were different than others. Especially such strange crossbreeds as the D-corp kids.
Ah well. "Go play, and behave yourself, all right, Jett?" she murmured, considering the books after making sure there were the promised guardians.
She worried too much. His mother-person. Raven. She worried too much. He would be fine looking around on his own.

"You'll find the arts and crafts book over there." Kanth murmured softly to Altessa, ruffling her hair gently before walking up to the counter to order a coffee drink. Altessa raised an eyebrow before heading that direction, intent on making these 'skull candies' she invented, or rather, thought up.
It was then that she spotted Jett, and halted in her pace. Curiosity enveloped her, and she drew forward softly until she was right beside him, glancing at whatever he was doing.
Not a word was said as she raised her hand and gave a short, boyish wave.

Melody figured that she might as well buy some picture books for Alora, after Mereneth, in his excitement of reading them, had burned up every single one of the books in the house. Her hand was clasped around the tiny hand of the little girl, who was now wearing a simple white dress and sandals.
"All right, you go find your books kay? I'll meet you back here later." Melody had enough confidence in Alora; the dove girl wouldn't follow strangers, she knew. And anyway, she wanted to find some books to read as well.
Alora nodded before scampering off, a little intrigued by the piles and piles of books around her. Peering around a corner, she suddenly froze, her blue eyes watching the spider boy and the other...scaly looking girl.

Angry green one. Different one. Altessa. Jett smiled slightly at the girl in response to the wave. "...hello again. Altessa," he added. Showing that he remembered the name. That meant something, didn't it? To remember a name, it showed that you thought there was something important-- important enough to remember.

"I am pleased you've remembered." Altessa rumbled, shoving her hands in her pockets and leaning back a small bit. "And you speak a lot more." Idly, Altessa wondered if it was just her company that did that, or if it was the reason he grew.
Her eye twinged, and Altessa turned to look at Alora, eyes narrowing at the feathers that cascaded from her back. She would do nothing, however, unless the bird decided to be... stupid.

Alora seemed to like watching people. She wasn't much of a talker just yet, still a little wary of her surroundings. She watched as both of them greeted each other; it seemed like they even knew each other.
Suddenly, as Altessa turned, Alora was frightened at the look she gave her, her feathers ruffling in a defensive way. She didn't exactly like this girl, she didn't know why. It wasn't because she had spotted the dove girl watching; Ligeia did that too, and she liked her...him, didn't she? This girl just seemed to give her the creeps.

Jett's gaze followed Altessa's, spotting the dove. Well. A little... creature. White this one, unlike the blue and the green and the multi-colored that he'd met before. How strange... but not bad. Altessa didn't seem to like her much-- but that was part of her difference, that anger that made her dislike others.
"...you made an impression," Jett shrugged slightly at the girl's first comment, letting the second slide by-- for the answer he'd given could reply to both, couldn't it? "...the little one is watching."

"Yes." Altessa sighed, closing her eyes for a moment as she withdrew, still standing in the same spot she stood. She could feel the other's fear... quite easily. Was this what the woman was talking about?
Nonetheless, she had no inkling to act on it, now. She was around Jett. Nothing was wrong, therefore she didn't need to use it.

And now the spider boy spotted her too. Unlike the other, he seemed rather indifferent of her. And at least he didn't give her that kind of stare too. It was rather scary.
Alora wondered for a moment whether she could continue staring at them, but decided against it, still a little freaked by Altessa. Instead, she plucked a rather colourful book from the bookshelf and flipped through it, her eyes grazing through it curiously.

It appeared Altessa wasn't wont to act upon the little one's prying-- perhaps it was due to the dove's interest in the book? No... the little one was interested in the book because of... Altessa. Strange the way people did things to remove themselves from fear.
A sudden thought, Jett carefully, quickly weaving something together from his webs, careful to make it not quite as sticky as he usually did. "Why are you here today... if I can ask?" Jett queried as he worked, careful to add in the last. He didn't want to offend Altessa.

Altessa had to think on this a moment, her eyes focusing on nothing in particular as she breathed out. "... candy." She had nearly forgotten. Then, all hatred dissipating in an instant, Altessa slid over to beside the dove girl and reached up. "'scuse me."
Pulling out a thick book, Altessa staggered back at the weight and opened it up, leaning against the bookshelf as she idly glanced at Jett's web, curious at what he was making. He'd tell her soon enough, if he wished to.
"Something with skulls on it. Cute, but deadly, somewhat. Got the idea from Medusa-sis."

Alora might have reached up for the book only to escape Altessa's fury, as Jett had thought, but she found that she was interested in it anyway. She let a hand touch the pages, grazing across pictures of birds, which intrigued her because of the wings and the fact that she had bird DNA as well.
Candy? Her ears perked up, still listening to the conversation the two had.

Medusa... sis? Dusa... the strange blue girl-- related to Altessa? It boggled the mind somewhat. Jett blinked, considering this before dismissing it. After all, it wasn't his business, it didn't matter much. Didn't make either less than the other. "Candy...?" Sweets. "May I help?"
Because... that's what one offered to do to those they considered 'friends', whatever the word really meant, wasn't it? Help. Assist.
The dove was listening still. She seemed... milder than the others Jett had met-- or was that only because she was smaller than Jett was now? Ah well.
And the web! The web... not that sticky, but... it wasn't supposed to be. Ah. Almost done... a loop, and... there. To be given at the right moment.

The Bandersnatch had to smirk at this. "She lives in the same place. She is kin, but not by blood." She smiled at the fact Jett was interested in the candy, and opened the book wider. "Yes, you may help."
Her eyes flickered over to the bird, now curious. She wasn't annoying like the other two she'd met (though Cleo had far proven herself), and Altessa rather liked this.
Now to find out the bird's personality. She knew how to keep her nose out of trouble, it seemed.

Altessa was right, Alora couldn't be exactly annoying even if she tried. The dove girl was still on the verge of being scared of strangers quite easily.
So maybe they wanted to make candy. Alora wondered how candy was even made, how they made it sweet and some chewy, some not, and...and... She could let her imagination run wild.
And the spider boy seemed to be making something. A web, of sorts. She could peek at it from the very corner of the eye, still pretending to be staring at the book.
