Following Asmodeus along, he only paused for a moment as he looked up at the large mechanical thing. He hadn't seen anything like that before, nor did he really know what it was to be honest. But it needed to go and so he took a step forward, hoping this thing could feel and could be taken out so they could fix the Engine next.

It wasn't something he knew, but he was more than determined to help this senshi and her planet. Maybe there was that lingering hope he could ask for a favor in the same way in the future but if he actually asked others for it would be another problem he'd have to deal with when he came to it.

Tianyi was not a good fighter. Honestly, if he was really smart, he should have just hidden or found a way back home or....literally done anything but try and help. He was not a fighter. He was not....made for any of this.

And yet. He was here, which meant he had to help. And everyone had already disassembled the little robots so thoroughly, leaving only that massive thing in the middle looking over them.

Tianyi's heart dropped. He was going to have to attack it, wasn't he? He was going to have to--well.

His magic wouldn't work, and approaching it closely sounded terrible. But there was a broken sphere on the ground near him. And he could throw things.

So he wrenched off a piece of the sphere's broken base and hurled it directly at the massive automaton, and felt proud of himself for being brave enough to do it.

“Will do,” Amarynthos responded, “But don’t stay too close if you can help it!” The last thing he wanted was for Reims to be hammered flat on the floor.

Amarynthos had linked arms with Ephesus, and with as busy as things were, he didn’t mind keeping his distance for now. Especially because he didn’t have any idea what these things could do. “Effie, you want to stay back here with me? I don’t have to get much closer yet.” And with everyone else’s magic going, he figured it was best to let them fire off their big attacks now and stay out of the way.

As before, he made sure he wasn’t going to hit anyone before swung his staff and fired a sparkling ball of liquid at one of the largest automaton.

Ephesus was worried that Reims and Dering would get hurt, but they seemed to be okay for now. And Dering looked so determined, so of course he wasn’t going to do anything to discourage him.

“Yes, okay, we can keep an eye on things,” he nodded in agreement with Amarynthos. He swung his own staff so that a glob of honey was thrown at the machine. He just hoped he didn’t hit anyone else by accident. He knew he didn’t have as good of aim as Amarynthos, but he was trying!

Dering had followed after Reims, always sticking close. It just seemed like the most responsible thing to do! He wasn’t the best fighter on his own, and Reims would certainly worry if Dering wound up out of sight. He should attack. The other automatons had been taken care of already, and this was so important to Asmodeus.

The two Deep Space Senshi that had spoken to him and his friends (Solaris and Procyon) had already run forward, and Dering didn’t want to be dead weight.

He knew he should have more confidence in himself. Reims did, and that was enough to make Dering want to do a good job. And–if all he had to do was stay to Reims’ right, okay! He could do that! He wasn’t quite ready to smash his lute trying to do any damage, but this thing was big, and they didn’t know what it could do. So, preemptively, and with a lump in his throat, he began to strum on his lute and channel his magic.

Magic: Dering begins to pluck at the strings of his lute and a cool mist begins to spread in a fifteen foot radius around him. Hazy shapes begin to manifest in the mist and quickly takes the form of several ethereal unicorns that begin to trot in a circle near the outskirts of the mist. It can be difficult to make out their forms, but the mist swirls around them and the faster Dering plays, the quicker they move. The unicorns do not attack or stray from their path; they protectively encircle Dering and any allies within his radius. These unicorns can block physical attacks his level or lower by taking the blow instead, but higher level attacks will turn the unicorn into mist. Magical attacks will pass through them, but the mist makes it almost impossible to pinpoint where anyone is inside, though allies can see through the mist. Anyone Dering trusts can pass through the circle of unicorns, but everyone else will be blocked by the rushing unicorns. Any contact with them will push someone back unless otherwise plotted; players can choose to take blunt force damage if they like. His magic will move with him, and he can channel his magic for up to 60 seconds.

“Keep a safe distance,” Lucien warned Dering as he trotted alongside him towards the mechanical creature. There wasn’t much he could do, physically, but he did catch sight of what looked like a cog that he could potentially knock loose. Or start the process.

He darted below the hammer and crossbow arms to take a strike at the cog. Perhaps he didn’t do much, but he quickly retreated to Dering’s side to make sure nothing happened to the young knight. Amarynthos and Ephesus were at least keeping their distance for now.

The two spheres crumpled easily, falling to pieces on the floor under the onslaught of attacks. The massive automaton, however, seemed barely affected--the rain of magical and physical blows seemed to do little more than make it angry, if the automatons could even be said to get angry.

With a horrific crunch of gears and a loud hiss of steam, it slammed its hammer hand down on the ground, sending powerful shockwaves that burst through the whole room. Dering's unicorns absorbed much of it, butt hey couldn't cover everyone; those on the outer edges of the room still took the full force of the attack, and even those protected might find their footing unsteady.

And with a vast sweep of its crossbow arm, it slammed into Asmodeus, sending her flying into the wall.

Action: Moving closer to the engine, attacking the boss!

Asmodeus was grateful for Dering's shield, and for the way it absorbed the impact of that massive hammer strike. It let her wind up, and shoot off her Super magic, a burst of fire flying at the automaton.

And then the arm swung for her, and all the protection in the world couldn't stop it from picking her up and sending her flying.

She crashed into the wall, and for a moment, she lay dazed on the ground, and briefly, she reached behind her head, and pulled her fingers away bloody.

Well, s**t.

She grit her teeth and forced herself back to her feet, and realized--

It had knocked her closer to the engine.

She couldn't run just yet. But it was so close. She just needed the thing's attention held for a moment.

It had to be out of sheer dumb luck that Haldane found himself protected from the automaton's attack by Dering's magic unicorns. Still, the newbie was shook, and took a few steps back away from danger. As he backed away his boot nudged against a chunk of hard and heavy debris. Hadn't he just been commiserating the fate of those with weapons and attacking with their fists? Well, reluctant to try his magic again - if he even could - he chucked the debris at the large automaton as hard as he could.

Eternal Murikabushi of Hunger
HP: 69 / 100
Location: E5 -> D4
Action: Moving up to attack (super magic, direct damage, exclusively focused on the boss).
Targets: Engine room mech.
Damage Done: 20.

Sending a flying kick at the one sphere felt good in the moment, especially as it came down hard. Still, Murikabushi needed a moment to recover after doing that, to make sure his head was still on right and he knew approximately where his legs were. The only thing that jerked him out of that headspace was a rush of bright pastels, scrambling amidst the rubble of the sphere that Murikabushi had just kicked down until he could throw some of the broken metal at the enormous steampunk mecha guy before them.

“Tianyi!” Murikabushi waved to get his friend’s attention. “Good throw!”

Clearly, it didn’t take the big boss down, but neither had anybody else’s attacks and every little bit of damage counted. Whatever happened, they needed to get Asmodeus past this guy so she could make it to the Eternal Engine, so she could restart it for the sake of her planet. Murikabushi opened his mouth, intending to call out to Tianyi again and let him know what he had in mind—

But the mecha guy’s hammer crashed down, cutting Muri off before he had a chance to really speak.

As the shockwave rumbled through the chamber, Murikabushi tumbled to the ground. Shaken from standing, despite his proficiency with doing everything in heels he toppled over.…… Well, this was probably going to hurt later.…… It smarted quite a bit right now, actually, between the cut one of the spheres had left on Murikabushi’s leg and what would no doubt be a cornucopia of bruises in the morning. (That said, Murikabushi was likely to be in better shape than Asmodeus herself. When she went flying and hit the wall, he winced in sympathetic pain.)

“Tianyi,” he called out, forcing himself to stand again, “I’m going to get closer to help fight it, but you don’t have to come unless you want to. It’s important for you to stay safe, too.”

With that warning given, Murikabushi dashed forward and called on his magic. The idea of some ancient steampunk automaton feeling any of the emotional aspects of hunger sounded absolutely stupid—but as long as Murikabushi helped overload the stupid thing until it stopped moving, he didn’t care.

Tempesti felt a massive wave of relief as the knight’s unicorns (all of this still felt completely absurd to her at times) absorbed most of the shockwave. With a soft grunt, she bent her legs slightly to brace herself in an attempt to corral her feet tried as they to skitter off of their own accord. This endeavor nearly ended in a heap on the ground when she registered that Asmodeus was airborne. Her stomach dropped at the sound of the other senshi striking the wall and without thinking she readied another attack.

She’d never used her magic more than once in the same battle and the prospect made her a bit nervous, but if it could help draw the construct’s attention away from the injured woman, that could give her time to recover. Darting to the side in order to avoid accidentally striking Murikabushi, she prepared to strike a second time.

“BITTER BLAST!”

The senshi’s voice was far louder than usual. She told herself that she only wanted to divert the thing’s attention. There was definitely no attempt to drown out the small voice of fear nagging at the back of her mind.
She felt the familiar pulse of anxiety as the harpies appeared overhead, their wingbeats inciting the air’s dormant fury as the sparking gusts rose around her. It was more and more difficult to ignore the crushing fatigue creeping its way outward from her chest. That was a problem for later, after whatever this thing was finished trying to kill them.

Hati scrambled after Asmodeus after the giant automaton smacked her across the room, diving and rolling across the floor as the shockwave sent him staggering. He managed to get by her side and whirl around to face the machine.

"I've got this thing, you go!" he shouted over his shoulder, staring the machine down.

He wouldn't let this thing hurt her again. "Moor Hunt!"

Reims did his best to shield his head from any retaliation from the giant machine, but it never came. Instead, he caught sight of Dering strumming along on his lute and gasped.

Dering!” he quickly moved to the Knight’s side, a grin bright on his face. “Did you do that? That’s amazing, I didn’t know your magic could do that! You should have told me! Don’t leave my side, okay?” he requested. He was tempted to pick Dering up and spin him around in his excitement, but didn’t want to ruin his lute playing.

“Alright, I guess we can see about taking this thing down,” he nodded and swung his sword, channeling his Knight magic, at the machine again. Once again, light and glass came raining down.

Squire: The weapon design doesn't change however the cable cord is more sturdy and can reach up to 10' in a single direction. Accuracy goes down after 7' with a higher chance of missing the target unless they're not moving. Once it has hit its target, ice will expand from the crescent shape in about a 6"R to help it not just fall off the opponent with a simple shrug.

    Magic: The weapon functions almost like a taser, however, instead of an electrical current it sends an overload of random data sent into the individual which may cause confusion if the opponent tries to make sense of it but ultimately it is meant to short circuits their magic.

    Data examples: Symbols, pictures, mathematical formulas, fragmented sentences, or memories. None of which make sense, at least not at the time.
    Effect examples: Inability to teleport or walking into mirrors instead of through. Magic may start sputtering, lagging, weaken, or stop altogether.

    Channeled: 45 seconds - can be broken if the weapon is no longer touching the opponent. Chill lasts for 5 seconds after the connection with her weapon is broken in the specific area that was hit (which is likely going to be quick
