Character Name and journal link Rainier, Squire of Mercury
HP: 75/75Direct Damage to Spider 2
Action:
Interaction Roll: 10+10+6(Chang'E)=26
Enemy HP: Sphere 1: 38/50; Sphere 2: 50/50; Spider 1: 18/30; Spider 2: 0/30; Spider 3: 30/30

Rather than spreading damage across multiple targets, Rainier seized the momentum of Asmodeus’ attack. Gripping the cord tightly, she spun the Mercury symbol part of her weapon in a tight controlled circle.

Stepping toward one of the spider-like constructs, she loosened her grip just enough to send the weighted end hurtling forward like a grappling hook. She would have been satisfied if it merely tripped the machine, but she knew she couldn't have asked for a better result when it struck a crucial joint, snapping the mechanism and sending the robot crashing onto its side.

A layer of ice formed around the weighted part of her weapon before Rainier channeled her magic just long enough for the robot to become still. “One down,” she murmured, yanking her weapon back and reeled it around her arm like a coiled extension cord before swinging it in another tight spin, already eyeing her next target.

Squire: The weapon design doesn't change however the cable cord is more sturdy and can reach up to 10' in a single direction. Accuracy goes down after 7' with a higher chance of missing the target unless they're not moving. Once it has hit its target, ice will expand from the crescent shape in about a 6"R to help it not just fall off the opponent with a simple shrug.

Magic: The weapon functions almost like a taser, however, instead of an electrical current it sends an overload of random data sent into the individual which may cause confusion if the opponent tries to make sense of it but ultimately it is meant to short circuits their magic.

Data examples: Symbols, pictures, mathematical formulas, fragmented sentences, or memories. None of which make sense, at least not at the time.
Effect examples: Inability to teleport or walking into mirrors instead of through. Magic may start sputtering, lagging, weaken, or stop altogether.

Channeled: 45 seconds - can be broken if the weapon is no longer touching the opponent. Chill lasts for 5 seconds after the connection with her weapon is broken in the specific area that was hit (which is likely going to be quick

Character Name and journal link Mauvian Brioche - Cat Form
HP: 50/50
Action: Attacking Sphere 1
Interaction Roll:
Damage/Healing/Buff Done: Sphere 1: 32/50, 3 damage dealt + 6 buff from Chang'E

Brioche's heart swelled with PRIDE at how well these Order younglings were doing! They all knew how to fight, how to be sneaky, how to not get caught by that which aimed to hurt them. And that gave them an edge!

Having never really been one to fight or patrol with another truly, this was his first time seeing any sort of combat in most literally YEARS. He still trembled and hid on Chang'E's shoulder, afraid of doing more, anxious about the fight that was surely to come and hit them back hard.

Then that blessed magic hit him. His fears, while present still, were muffled back by the desire of his one and only goal, to help and protect his Senshi and to be useful above all else!

"I-I will try too! I will fight! I will HELP!" He eagerly whispered into Chang'E's ear before leaping off his shoulder and into the fray.

He wasn't the fastest or most svelt cat out there, but even he could dash forward and throw that heavy body of his against a sphere that was doing it's task! With a surprisingly fierce hiss, he threw all of his weight against the sphere, wanting to atleast knock it off course and distract it from the others! They had enough to worry about without this strange thing coming towards them!

Reims, Knight of Ganymede
HP:100/100
Action: Attacking sphere 2
Interaction Roll: N/A
Damage Done: 10 + 11 (Direct Damage) + 6 (Buff from Chang'E) = 27
Enemy HP: Sphere 1: 35/50; Sphere 2: 23/50; Spider 1: 18/30; Spider 2: 0/30; Spider 3: 30/30

These strange mechanical robots looked dangerous. The thought of any of them cornering his friends was enough to make his skin boil.

For just a moment, he squeezed Dering’s hand tighter than necessary, but realized what he was doing and relaxed.

The tension was better released on things that needed to be destroyed. So Reims was more than happy to jump into action when the Senshi of that world (Asmodeus) gave the order to attack.

She went for the three clustered together, but Reims knew his magic caused shards of glass to explode, and he didn’t want anyone else getting caught in that.

“Give me a moment if you’re going to attack them,” he said to Dering and the others near him, pulling his sword up to rest on his shoulder like a baseball bat, but not lingering for too long. Just long enough to hear the clap of the alien Senshi (Chang'E) and feel a rush of magic to boost his confidence. He acknowledged the Senshi with a grateful nod then turned his attention back on their targets.

Then, before the strange looking mechanical sphere that was away from the others knew what was happening, Reims rushed forward with a great swing of his sword, sending light and glass pummeling his target upon contact.

Quote:
When Reims channels his magic, the lust for battle courses through him and his strength is increased, allowing him to hit twice as hard as he normally would. Every time his weapon makes contact, there is an extravagant burst of colorful light from his weapon, as if catching and shattering light even without a light source. The colorful light manifests into glass shards, always directed at his target. There are never more than three at a time, and no larger than his palm, that causes the sensation of moderate to severe lacerations. Players can choose to take lasting damage. His magic pool lasts for 45 seconds.

Ephesus, Knight of the Moon
HP:100/100
Action: Summoning his tiger to attack
Interaction Roll: N/A
Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 10 + 18 = 28
Enemy HP: Sphere 1: 35/50; Sphere 2: 23/50; Spider 1: 18/30; Spider 2: 0/30; Spider 3: 2/30

Ephesus let out a startled squeak when they were no longer trying to quietly get around the mechanical creatures, and instead were launching a surprise attack. It made sense! It was probably really important to get the upper hand.

But that also meant that Amarynthos would probably want to fight, which was also fine! He’d been training with Michael, and Devyn showed him a lot of things too! And if he got hurt then he would just heal him and anyone else.

He watched with wide eyes as others, including Reims, rushed forward to attack the creatures. He saw the Senshi he knew from Alastor (Solaris) and while he was curious about her comment, didn’t have time to say anything to her.

He knew he couldn’t just stand around and do nothing.

Ephesus gave Amarynthos a squeeze before taking a step back, as though silently giving him his blessing to do what he had to and not worry about him. He would stay out of danger as much as possible, if only to give Amarynthos some peace of mind.

Reaching up to take hold of the bauble of water he wore, he called his summon -- a beautiful dilute golden tiger -- which seemed to understand exactly what he wanted.

With a snarl, it leapt at the spider creature that had been separated from the others. With powerful claws and teeth, the tiger ripped into the metal, nearly destroying it in one attack. By the time she was done with it, the mechanical spider was hanging on by only a thread.

Quote:
Effie's Summon: A golden tiger that shimmers with moonlight. When summoned, it will slash or bite with terrifying ferociousness. Players can choose for their characters to avoid damage, take temporary, or lasting damage at their discretion. Its roar drains hope from opponents for the duration of the channeled magic, with lasting effects up to the player. This tiger is a powerful protector and will do whatever necessary to guard its Knight and allies.

Amarynthos, Knight of the Moon
HP: 100/100
Action: Attacking with forgotten spell
Interaction Roll: N/A
Damage Done: 10 + 10 = 20
Enemy HP: Sphere 1: 35/50; Sphere 2: 3/50; Spider 1: 18/30; Spider 2: 0/30; Spider 3: 2/30

They didn’t have to be quiet anymore so Amarynthos wasn’t so concerned with keeping his voice a whisper. And, with things getting a little chaotic, he didn’t exactly plan to.

“Oh, hey, Solaris!” Amarynthos greeted; he hadn’t seen her in the group but that was at least one Senshi he knew Devyn was already familiar with. Oh, wait–that meant she could tell him they were here!

Could he bribe her to keep quiet? Would he have to?

No, there were only a handful of automatons here, they could probably take them out pretty easily, right?

“Is Realta here with you?” he asked, briefly worried about stepping on the Mauvian.

He could have run up to the automatons, he could have done a full on assault like Reims had. He played it safe, instead. Back here, he had a bit of space, and a good, clean shot at one of the automatons. Making sure he wouldn’t hit anyone, he took only a single step away from Ephesus and posed himself as if he were about to hit a baseball.

Magic didn’t quite work that way, but his Forgotten Spell did. He swung his staff once and fired a sparkling ball of liquid at one of the spherical automatons.

Quote:
Forgotten Spell - When Amarynthos swings his weapon, baseball sized orbs of sparkling water hurtle towards opponents at high speed. The water has an incredibly thin layer of ice that shatters on impact, and the chilly stings upon contact. As the water splashes onto the target, it explodes in a burst of moonlit water. Impact can create a brief flash of light but does no extra damage; players can choose to be cut by the small shards of the ice shell or just deal with a high impact ball of water. He can create three orbs and can only throw them twenty feet; beyond that, the ice will melt and the water will fall to the ground.

Super Sailor Solaris
HP: 75
Action: Attacking Sphere 1
Interaction Roll: N/A
Damage Done: 10 + 4 + 5 + 6 (Buff from Chang'E) +1 (Article of Strength) = 26
Enemy HP: Sphere 1: 9/50; Sphere 2: 3/50; Spider 1: 18/30; Spider 2: 0/30; Spider 3: 2/30

As the fighting began, Solaris straightened, offering a grin to Amarynthos. "Nah, not this time! Probably for the better, she'd be too interested in seeing how these things tick," she teased, as if that wasn't her own great curiosity at this point. She watched as people drew in to attack some of the automatons at close range, gaze bouncing from target to target to try and gage where she could attack.

One of her greatest concerns with her magic was, always, the fact the explosion could hit others if she wasn't careful on where to aim it.

She heard the clap from another alien senshi (Chang'E) and offered him a grateful smile before finally deciding how to act, snapping her fingers and pointing towards one of the sphere machines. "Catalytic Combusion!" The small spark rapidly formed a condensed orb, and the golden energy rocketed towards her target. The resulting explosion when the orb hit the Sphere made the edge of her smile sharpen a tad, though she uh. Really hoped no one moved into that...

The range of her magic allowed her to stay back beside Ephesus and Amarynthos, at least.

Quote:
Catalytic Combustion
_________𝔖 She points her fingers with one hand like a 'gun' to direct her magic at a target. Snapping those fingers, Solaris creates a spark that stays in front of her hand. This spark is the catalyst for a rapidly growing flood of energy to pool into an expanding, fuzzy ball in front of her hand. It maxes out in size of about 3 inches diameter (the size of a baseball). This ball of golden, condensed light and energy then shoots out towards the target Solaris' pointer finger is directed at. The ball can travel up to fifteen feet before exploding and dispersing, even if it hasn't hit a target by that point. Anyone hit by the ball itself, or the resulting explosion, are subject to blunt force damage and rapid, high heat when the ball explodes that last for only five seconds. The extent of the damage is up to the player, at minimum should cause moderate bruising, and slight blistering on exposed skin from the heat. Solaris can use this magic up to two times a day.

While strength wasn't his forte, he made up for it with determination and once he heard the clap and saw a snake-like senshi offering aid, he was more than ready to try punching one of the spider things.

When the hit connected, he had to shake his hand since it stung but at least it had felt like he'd done something and already most of them looked worse for wear. He was glad they'd gotten the drop on these things because he didn't think they'd have as much luck with them otherwise.

Damage Done: 2
Enemy HP: Sphere 1: 9/50; Sphere 2: 3/50; Spider 1: 7/30; Spider 2: 0/30; Spider 3: 0/30

Though Dering was a bit disappointed to lose Reims’ hand, he understood. He’d found comfort in the contact–something light, something easily broken, if necessary.

This was necessary.

They’d been warned about the dangers, and now they needed to address them.

Asmodeous led the command, which made it very easy to know just what to do. He didn’t have to second guess what she was asking of them. Reims moved, and Amarynthos and Ephesus. So, he did, too.

He wasn’t the strongest but it didn’t mean he couldn’t help and, for some reason, he felt a bit more emboldened. Maybe it was just seeing everyone in action that made him feel so inspired–

Dering knew there were traps, but there was so much debris on the ground that he didn’t think any of it could be tied to trouble. He wasn’t sporty, he wasn’t very strong. He didn’t want to get in the way of others who knew how to fight. But! He had an opening!

And he felt so confident that he wasn’t going to accidentally hit anyone accidentally that, with full force, he kicked a rock straight at the spider furthest away from the group.

Enemy HP: Sphere 1: 9/50; Sphere 2: 3/50; Spider 1: 0/30; Spider 2: 0/30; Spider 3: 0/30

Acrucis was no fighter.

Physically, she lacked the strength to do any real damage, and magically… her healing abilities were reactionary, meant for mending wounds rather than preventing them. She had never been one to charge into battle, but that didn’t mean she was a coward. She wouldn’t flee unless the odds were devastatingly against her, but it was rare for her to take an active role in a fight. Her place had always been behind the frontlines, watching, waiting, stepping in when she was needed.

However, with two of the spider-like machines already dealt with and no injuries to tend to, she found herself at a momentary loss. Yet the energy in the air shifted, bolstered by the optimism of another Senshi’s magic, stirring something in her … an unfamiliar urge to do something rather than just wait

Her gaze landed on a loose piece of debris nearby. It wasn’t a weapon, and she wasn’t sure it would even make a difference, but she gripped it tightly and hurled it at the remaining multi-legged automation with all the non-existent strength she had.

For the first time in a long while, she wasn’t standing on the sidelines, waiting for things to go wrong and however small her action was, it was at least something.

Lucien - Cat Form
HP: 75/75 (because he has human form unlocked? I can change this if it should be 50!)
Action: Attacking Sphere 2
Interaction Roll: N/A
Damage Done: 1 (+6 from Chang’E) = 7
Enemy HP: Sphere 1: 9/50; Sphere 2: 0/50; Spider 1: 0/30; Spider 2: 0/30; Spider 3: 0/30

Lucien was incredibly proud of everyone there. For the moment, he was perfectly content with standing back, puffing out his chest in approval, and watching as they used their magic and worked together.

Being as small as he was (relatively speaking, since he was quite a large Mauvian in this smaller form), he was happy to stay out of the way of the others dealing the most damage for now.

There was a lot to observe, anyway. The way these creatures moved, and how they were very clearly mechanical in nature, but also somehow able to react to the “intruders.” Although, if anyone asked him, everything on that world belonged in some sense to the Senshi of that world. And if they did not want these creatures there, then they would deal with the threat.

Of course, the influence of Chang’E’s magic was difficult to ignore. Despite his intention of staying back and out of the way, he couldn’t help the lovely feeling of elation that seemed to boost his energy.

With one of the spheres wobbling around and looking like it was going to break apart at any moment, Lucien finally trotted forward, jumped, and gave it a good kick with his hindlegs, before trotting back to the group, his long, fluffy tail maybe purposefully brushing fondly against Acrucis, Dering, and Solaris’ legs as he moved back to Ephesus and Amarynthos’ side.

Character Name and journal link Sailor Haldane, Senshi of Doubt
HP: 50/50
Action: Attacking Sphere 1
Interaction Roll: n/a
Damage Done: 10 + 2 = 12
Enemy HP: Sphere 1: 9/50 - 12 from his attack = dead

Haldane didn't have much faith in his magic. An excess of doubt, if you will. Which was fitting. But he couldn't stand around and do nothing - he wasn't going to piggy-back off of other's hard work. He had learned from Bellatrix that it wasn't necessary to call out his attacks, even though she encouraged it until he got used to it. Still, it was cringe. Which was ironic, coming from a buffoon like him, who seemed to care less about things like that, but it was odd how certain things did and OH GODS this was no time to be self-refelcting!

Brought back to reality, Haldane unleashed his magic on the remaining sphere, and was actually somewhat proud to see that it hadn't done a half bad job! Usually his magic didn't turn out too great, and sometimes it backfired on him, but maybe not expecting much had been just what it needed to prove him wrong.

Seeing the last of the enemies fall, he couldn't help but let out a little sound of victory;

"Dun dundundun dun dun dundundunnnnnnnn!"

....what was that about cringe again?
PostPosted: Tue Feb 25, 2025 2:26 pm

One by one, the automatons crumbled, collapsing and falling apart or simply shutting down. As Haldane's magic took out the last one, there was a loud crunching sound from behind where the monsters had come from.

At the end of the room, the doors swung open, revealing a long, widening hallway.

At the other end of it were a pair of massive brass doors

On each of the doors was engraved a sigil, massive and demanding, and the doors were ornately decorated around the edges.

The entrance to the Eternal Engine, perhaps?

Massive, decorated columns were placed at even intervals down the hall, and from a distance, it seemed like there might be something int he center where the two doors met.

And there were a few spots on the walls where it looked like things might be scratched into them, perhaps hastily....

Ephesus couldn’t help but jump in surprise when Solaris used her attack. It was a lot louder than he’d been expecting, and for a moment he covered his ears with his hands--

Oh… he probably looked really silly. It wasn’t like she was going to hurt them, but her attack seemed pretty scary. Good thing they weren’t her enemy.

He was glad that Amarynthos was quick to use his magic, and even more grateful that he didn’t move too far away from him. Not that he was planning on clinging to him! He was capable of standing on his own! He was just a little shaken by all of the loud sounds and explosions.

But at least they had more to look at, so after showing both Solaris and Amarynthos a small, reassuring smile, he bravely took… well… just a couple steps away from Amarynthos. Before making sure he was still close to him. And then changing his mind and reaching out to take hold of his hand.

The doors ahead of them opened after the automatrons were defeated.

“Look at those columns,” he said quietly as they slowly approached the long hallway. He always liked art, and architecture was just one form of art. With delicate fingers, he reached out to touch the closest one, as though trying to take in everything around them. “It’s a really beautiful place.” A little scary… or a lot scary, but that wasn’t always a bad thing as long as they were being safe.

Everyone was so STRONG! And he was too! He did something to the sphere. Not much, only knocking it off course, but he had done something! And no one was hurt!

Well, almost no one.

The smell of burnt furr on the edge of his tail from Solaris's attack reached his nose right as the strange sphere came crashing down. That fluffy tuff was now as burnt as toast that had been in the toaster for way too long! But it was out in an instant, and he was in little to no pain! Heck, even the warmth from Chang'E's power hadn't worn away yet!

"I didn't not want to do nothing, and I'm okay! We okay! We did it!" He excitedly whispered, riding that high for just a little longer until the elation left him. "Oooh, and you did good too, good theme song, very funny, very nice! Very fitting, final hit, you did it!"

He chattered on and on, enthusiastically praising Haldane from the gentle embrace of Chang'E. Being turned around in his arms would reveal a bit of singing and some fur that smelled oddly like bread than like burning hair, but it was clear that Brioche was no worse for wear. And perhaps a wee bit out of it, too busy happily chattering away with praises and little nuzzles to Chang'E's shirt than to look about and investigate.
