Nicholas never particularly fitted in. Despite being a hybrid, his litch family never treated him any differently, but it was clear he wasn't 'the same'. The fey that imbued his stone was never part of the picture; instead the hybrid grew up in an exclusively litch household that maintained their culture. Nicholas was incredibly patient and well-mannered as a child, even for a litch. He didn't seek knowledge like most of his family, however. It seemed the loving nature of the fey came through him in the form of creativity. Even as an infant, Nicholas was always found drawing in the mud. His family was eager to foster this talent and so Nicholas grew up with a paintbrush in one hand and his eyes always on the beauty of the world; he was particularly fond of the night sky, which in his opinion was the most beautifully decorated canvas in the universe.
Nicholas' family - and the entire community he grew up in - always encouraged learning and pursuing their goals, so he was sent to the academy as soon as possible. It came as a surprise to everyone, especially Nicholas, that he became incredibly solitary there. Perhaps he had become used to the constant support and presence of his family, but he struggled to make new relationships at the academy. Over the years he became more and more reserved, finding entertainment purely through his art. Because of this his talent flourished, but he became increasingly defensive of his work, developing something of a superiority complex as a defence mechanism to his solidarity.
Unsurprisingly, Nicholas pursued artwork beyond his time at the academy. He is still technically unemployed and is so possessive of his art that he barely sells any. However, the few pieces he sells is enough to scrape by a living at Grendel university. He is on the verge of graduating, but is almost scared to do so. At university there is certainty; painting everyday and enjoying what you do. Beyond this he is unsure what he will do, but it seems likely he will return home, at least until he has figured it out. He has had no relationships during his young adulthood and so feels no attachment to Asphodel, but who knows what his future holds.

Cleo was awoken as an orphan and has always been under the care of the academy. Some people have joked (in rather poor taste) that her stone must have been cracked because Cleo just seems to be 'wrong'. She's always been incredibly isolated and serious, mature for her age but at the cost of any social skills. Like many solitary academics, she found comfort in reading. However, while many young, shy children lose themselves in the realm of fiction, Cleo tends to stick almost-exclusively to non-fiction. Even this is seen as peculiar to other children, but of course Cleo is more than happy for them to avoid her.
Of course, most living creatures seek companionship in at least one way. Cleo finds hers primarily in plants; living creatures that don't talk back, what could be better? Over the years she has become an apt gardener, both because of her attention to caring and research of plants and their needs, and because she naturally seems to have a green thumb. Almost every surface in her dormitory that isn't taken up by books is covered in different kinds of plants. She prides herself on her ability to grow them - like she prides herself in her knowledge in every field - and rarely shows enthusiasm for anything else. Despite this, Cleo has never expressed a desire to become a gardener when she graduates. In fact she has little direction in her future, which frustrates her as she is certain in everything else.
As she grew into a junior, Cleo's tastes remained almost disturbingly static. Her interest and aptitude in gardening was enough to impress the Asphodel Academy gardeners, allowing her to volunteer her time to tend to the Enoch gardens. The staff often comment that they're glad she's pursuing a career in gardening, but the baphomet insists she'll find work in a different field. One of the few things that has changed is her ability to talk to others. Much to the delight of those around her, Cleo finally cut her hair above her eyes to keep eye contact. She is still cold to others, but at least she isn't outright hostile. To her surprise, this has actually enhanced her grades as her teachers often offer her more opportunities for out-of-class activities. Cleo is happy to ride through school, maintaining her impeccable grades and skill in gardening. She has become rather anxious over her future, resulting in her throwing herself even more into her studies.

cleo found the two salamanders during winter celebrations and was immediately fascinated by their colours and nature. like most salamanders, both aeonium and echeveria are relatively aloof, similar to their owner. cleo enjoys this relationship based mainly on observation, and is happy to let the two of them simply get along with each other. the salamanders appear to be happy with the arrangement as they spend most their time in a cool, moss-filled tank where cleo grows her more tropcial and swampy plants.

hahniana was given to her during an evening of trick-or-treating. she had been spending the night alone, but at one house the torti had walked out the door and immediately grew attached to her. cleo was shocked that he had come along with her but she was grateful for the new familiar. not for companionship of course; the torti was a newly introduced species to the world outside the desert and she was eager to learn more. hahniana seems happy with the deal, enjoying his time in and out of his terrarium as his new owner observes him. he has attempted to be friendly with aeonium and echeveria, but they don't show any interest in making friends.

Honey was always a charismatic and outgoing individual, even as a child. Their family always let them be a free spirit, allowing them to try any new experiences they desired. Honey was the type of child to approach strangers to ask them how they were or to steal some food from a picnic. Because of this, Honey seemed to attract friends and social groups would simply form around them. Honey was more than happy to be in the centre of all these social networks, naturally. When people discussed stories that 'happened to a friend' or a 'friend of a friend', odds were it referred to Honey.
Being the type that liked to be flexible and keep their options open, Honey wasn't too fond of commitment or following rules. As a result, they weren't all that into studying or school in general. They still passed most of what they tried, but that was more a result of boundless confidence rather than real effort. Still, as long as they passed and didn't get into too much trouble, people seemed happy to let the charismatic young geist do as they pleased. Despite being underage, Honey managed to find their way into the rave scene and night life simply through their charm and infectious energy. Nothing delighted them more than dancing to loud, club music while covered head to toe in glow sticks.
When the invasion of the 'corrupted' occurred, Honey was in one of their regular pubs. Along with the rest of the worried masses, they were ushered into a nervous stadium. When the actual attack happened, Honey gained a deep scar on their side and their shoulders, barely managing to keep themselves together. Tragically, Honey suffered from a bite from one of the corrupted and wasn't able to be cured like most of the cohort. Their future snatched away from them in one night, Honey transformed into one of the cannibalistic infected, no longer able to rejoin society. Their life is completely uncertain and their socialising restricted to the rest of their kind. What they choose to do with their lives from here remains a mystery.

solace is the only familiar that has been brave enough to wander near the corrupted's compound. honey was quick to usher the vespercat into their place, not wanting any of the others to take him. named after the comfort he provides, honey has quickly thought of the familiar as their only companion they have or, even worse, ever could have. solace is aloof - like many of his species - but he seems to know when honey needs him most. honey had become relatively reserved since their separation from society, but they're finally able to be sociable and fun again when solace is around.
bourbon // meodu // sukel the children produced from an imbuing with a litch named gil voispider, honey had no choice but to raise bourbon, meodu and sukel as they were infected. honey loves their children and enjoys watching them grow, although they wish they took after honey more. honey's laidback approach to parenting has made them blind to any of their children's problems, and they simply teach them street smarts here and there whenever they feel like learning. honey's relationship with their children remains uncertain, although the geist will protect and raise them unfalteringly.

Asuna was born with a song in her heart and a dance to her step. Her parents often say she was born to perform and fostered this talent from a young age. Like many talented children, Asuna was thrust into the world of constant rehearsals and the demand for perfection beyond her understanding. This sort of pressure tends to turn children bitter or vain, and Asuna was definitely the latter. She became obsessed with herself; put a mirror in the same room as Asuna and she'll be distracted for hours. Of course, she seemed to get away with her vanity by being completely serving and charming, always wanting everyone around her to love her and approve of every action she took.
Asuna only attained average grades, but no one noticed due to her strong presence on the performing arts aspect of the academy. She always seemed to be given the starring roles and was developing her own interpretive dances and choreography by the time she was a junior. Plenty of people were either jealous of Asuna's talents or disgusted by her vain, manipulative behaviour, but unless those individuals were influential on the music and dance scene, she happily ignored them. Those she believed could better her career she quickly singled out and charmed, determined to get them to like her - and they almost always did. Unsurprisingly, she went to Grendel as soon as she was able to and is currently majoring in dance. Her aspiration is simple: to become the most beloved and popular superstar in Below. Easy, right?
Asuna graduated from university with ease, all of her lecturers awed by her stage presence and ability to woo anyone she desired. She was swarmed with performance opportunities the day after she received her papers and within a year was booking any gig she desired in popular clubs. People found it difficult to describe why she was so popular - after all, she was a solo performer who simply sung her own music backed by deep, heavy electronic music. The child she kept - Maple - has certainly sparked many tabloid articles and interviews, but much to Asuna's surprise she actually has come to care for and love her son, in a way one loves a treasured possession. essurio asuna is one of essurio's mothers who awoke her from her stone and cared for her as an infant. however, asuna only imbued a stone to share what she considers 'her perfection' and had no real interest in raising a child. while she had maternal instincts for the infancy stage, asuna quickly realised having a child may interfere with her dreams and so chose to leave her at the academy to be raised. due to this, essurio developed abandonment issues and believed that it was her fault asuna left. asuna has yet to contact essurio since she grew into a freshling. maple maple is the son asuna kept from her second imbuing. she only awakened maple in order to appear to the public as a working mother and thus gaining popularity. after some time she realised she actually enjoyed having a child around to groom however she wished and she has become very pleased in his appearance and submissive demeanour. her only concern is that now he is attending the academy, she has less time with him and may lose some of her control over her child. she hopes that their relationship will remain the same as maple grows older and he never considers leaving his mother.
