Cleo moved back and forth across her room, watering the various succulents and flowers she was growing. Fortunately, she had not been assigned a roommate and so she was able to fill the room with life. A rare hint of a smile appeared on her face when she noticed one of her echiveria's was in bloom. "You are very impressive," she cooed softly, watering it with tender care.
Once she had attended every plant in the room, Cleo let out a small sigh of satisfaction and approached her bookshelf, which was practically filled to bursting. She chose a slender book from her 'borrowed from the library' section and moved to her bed to read it. Sitting with excellent posture, she traced her finger over the title, 'Caring for Plants'. Of course, Cleo believe she knew everything about this particular subject, but she had not read this book so it was worth investigating. After quickly reading the prelude, she arrived at chapter one, 'Attention'. Well, Cleo gave them plenty of that. However, the book described having multiple forms of attention, including various sources and employing one's imagination. She'd heard of this 'imagination' thing and wanted no part of it. With a huff, she shut the book with determination and placed it on the bed beside her.musicaloner7 sorry this took so long !

It'd taken a bit of convincing for Susu's parents to agree with him finding lodging at the academy. What with him being so precious to their clan, being the youngest as well, they didn't particularly like the idea of him being out of their sights for so long. And in a strange new land...
But.... he explained how useful it would be for him to get fully immersed into the foreign society. It was the best way to learn and absorb all he could, so as to get used to everything! For some it might be overwhelming, but for the knowledge loving Susu, it was an adventure he was looking forward to! Sure he'd had some nervousness going in, but... excitement overpowered it.
At current the hallow was being guided to his destined new room, a little map provided to him, and the aid explaining a multitude of things to the freshling. They'd been very kind to him since his arrival, making it all the more easier for him to feel comfortable. When the caretaker perked up, the little kumiho's multiple eyes flickered over to the door which they stood before. A knock was given before it was opened, the caretaker calling for small Cleo to see if she was around. Susu also peeked in behind the older Nightmare, tails curling and winding gently behind him with interest. Hopefully his roommate didn't mind his intrusion!

Cleo looked up sharply when she heard the knock on the door. Seeing an adult with a freshling, she immediately realised what was going on. She tried not to show blatant disapproval of having someone invade her privacy, sliding off the bed and nodding to the pair. "Roommate?" She asked, rather bluntly - though it sounded more of a statement than a question. "Very well," she agreed, turning back to face the plant on her bedside table. A roommate? Cleo could hardly be called sociable at the best of times, and although she considered herself knowledgeable on all species and cultures, she hadn't yet had to actually interact with a kumiho. 'Or a hallowed.' She thought with a slight frown.

l Duckeh l look at me I replied to something fffff The caretaker nodded as Cleo was able to piece together the scene, gently smoothing Susu's hair affectionately, "Yes, this is Susumu, he'll be your new roommate starting today! I hope you'll help him in feeling welcome to the Academy." the adult chimed oh so sweetly, nothing but smiles and radiating positivity.
Susu was all smiles himself, wanting to make his best first impression to his new roomie! With his introduction given, he naturally presented her with a bow, deepening it for maximum respect. Righting himself, he watched her eagerly, ears twitching upright from the muttered approval. Excellent! It seems she wasn't disturbed by his presence so far.
With Cleo's acceptance, the guardian gave a final pat to Susu's head, "I'll let you two get to know each other better. Make sure you're not late to your next classes!" and with that she was on her way, leaving the two freshlings to themselves.
After a goodbye to grown up, Susu returned his attention to the little girl, taking a few tip toed steps closer to see what she was focused on. Plants? "Oh these are lovely~" he complimented, multitude of eyes scanning along the variety on display.

Cleo stared blankly at the cheerful caretaker - although fortunately her bangs were concealing her dreaded stare. She was a little taken aback by the freshling's bow, however. With only a moment's hesitation, she responded with a curt nod of her own. Cleo scoffed slightly at the suggestion she'd be late for a class; did they not check things like her academic tendencies before assigning roommates? Honestly.
Hearing his comment on her plants, Cleo blushed slightly. Few things were more precious to her than her plants, and it was rare anyone visited her dorm and thus saw them. "Yes," she said softly, her voice already losing it's harsh edge as she pointed out the plant in front of her. "This one is a gymnocalycium cultivar, commonly known as a moon cactus. I am pleased with its pink bulb," she stated proudly, as if showing off a talented child. She turned to face Susumu, a rare smile threatening to appear on her face. "Would... would you like me to show you the others?" She asked surprisingly politely, although she doubted anyone would say no to such a marvellous offer.musicaloner7 i'm so proud of you <33 but not cleo ... why she gotta be so rude

With the clear pride evident in how the other child reacted, Susu could truly see how much this freshling loved these plants. He was careful in his approach towards them, keeping his sweet, gentle smile in place, as he gave a small nod to show he was paying attention, "It's a very lovely vibrant colour. I can see how well it's been taken care of." he continued to praise. He wasn't one to turn a blind eye to skill and apparent passion.
When the kind offer was extended to him, the hallowed didn't waste a moment in responding, his split up mouth spreading and arching into a brighter smile, "Oh yes please, I would be very grateful to meet all of them~" he chimed. Plants were a lovely creation of this world, and he truly respected them. And since it seemed his new roommate did too, it was a wonderful meeting point for the two of them to get off on the right foot!

Cleo had to admit that the other freshling at least seemed respectful and careful. She had been concerned that if she ever had a roommate, they'd run around the room and destroy the impeccable environment she'd set up for her plants. On the contrary, Susumu actually seemed interested in her plants and was very polite in the way he talked to her. Still, she'd reserve her final judgement after spending more time with him. "I appreciate your interest," she said softly and sincerely. Usually when she offered to show people her plants, they half-heartedly let her ramble at them, but she could tell they never really cared. This new boy, however, seemed actually interested in what she had to show him.
Cleo motioned towards a small, rectangular fishtank on a desk. It was filled with mostly rocks and covered with a blanket of moss. There was a small pool of water in one end with small tropcial and swampy plants throughout, as well as several ferns. Nestled on one particularly large rock was a pair of salamanders. They didn't seem remotely interested in what was going on around them and continued to nap on top of each other; Cleo couldn't help but smile lightly as she watched them. "I found these two recently," she explained, turning to Susumu. "The green one is echeveria and the other is aeonium. They are named after my favourite succulents." She pointed to an echeveria and aeonium plant sitting beside the tank on the desk to clarify.musicaloner7 sorry i'm getting so into this plant stuff omg

l Duckeh l no worries. I love plants, and a majority of my characters do too. Susu trotted behind his roomie, fluffy tails bouncing gently behind him with the motion. As he was drawn over to the new display, his multiple eyes lit up, the star pupils dilating with interest, goopy mouth widening and smiling again, "Oh wow~" he murmured in soft awe. What a wonderful set up for the succulents! It had all they required to be healthy and live successfully.
And those darling little salamanders nestled inside were such a perfect addition. His tails wagged lightly behind him to show his delight, "They're really cute, Cleo!" he chimed, lifting a hand to wiggle his fingers at the familiars, cooing softly at them in greeting. "And such a smart placement for them, since they can help keep plants safe from bugs that may want to munch on them." suddenly, he felt a little embarrassed for fawning so openly over the precious set up.
Blushing softly, he righted himself, and returned to being more collected, "This is really beautiful, Cleo. You've done such a great job to provide these succulents with a proper environment. The salamanders too." since they were on the topic of plants... "I really like orchids and bonsai's myself. We have many back home."

While Cleo yearned to learn as much as she possibly could about everything, she wasn't usually adept at observing others. In this newcomer, however, Cleo couldn't help but stare as his face lit up when he saw her plants. It was refreshing - after spending five minutes with her, most people couldn't be bothered putting up with her attitude. She smiled lightly to herself, before looking at the terrarium once more. "They are... pleasant to look at," she agreed, not one to throw around terms like 'cute'; although inwardly she had to admit it was an appropriate word for the cuddling creatures. When he commented on the enclosure, Cleo nodded with a small frown. "I... yes... that is true," she said slowly. Truthfully, she hadn't even considered their use of keeping away insects, although she'd never admit that.
It was rare Cleo received compliments, so she couldn't fight the blush that spread across her face when Susumu complimented her room. "Thank-you, that is... very kind of you to say," she said genuinely. Of course she knew she'd done a near-professional job of providing for the plants, but it was nice to hear it all the same. For once, she smiled openly when he mentioned his favourite plants. "Yes, they are enjoyable. Orchids are particularly attractive, although flowering plants are difficult to grow and- wait, did you say back home? Have you travelled here from elsewhere?" Cleo had hardly even been outside the academy, so she never considered Susumu would have had a different experience. Was it possible he had come from the forest above?
