[❖ E ❖] Three's A Crowd [❖ E ❖] [- Connection's Event -] [- 726 words -]
Soft steps, slow breaths. Take it slowly in, let it out even slower.
Survival of the fittest. One must be a master of not only their body, but their mind as well. If one was ill of mind, the body would fall ill soon after. That was a lesson she learned early on when she hid silently in the thick leaves of the Rainforest Trees, her eldest sister practicing the bow mere steps away while the elders were off on a hunt.
Lumikani may have been the smallest of her triplet sisters, but she wouldn't consider herself the dullest. She quickly learned that an idle mind would accomplish nothing. This became important when she noticed that her body was not growing as quickly compared to her sisters. She had to find a way to move past her size difference. Aisha, their great mother and creator, chose to bless her with this body in which she needed to prove herself, so it was up to her to find a way to overcome what challenges lay ahead.
Her sisters might call her as small as an earthling at times. They might poke and prod at her shorter limbs and her thinner fingers. But those lean limbs grew strong with muscle, and those thin fingers grew stiff with callouses, and soon Lumikani found herself high up in the trees, looking down upon her sisters as they fell farther behind. Up in the trees, the length of the legs did not matter, all that mattered was how hard you fought and how high you could reach.
Breath in, just a little higher now. Ignore the burn, ignore the scratch. It'll heal eventually, and next time you wont feel a thing.
She did love her sisters, being with them all the time meant that there was some sort of feeling there. They had bloomed together, faced the light and the smiling faces of her sister and mother. Aisha had blessed them all to be strong and steady, and she could appreciate that. There would never be a time that she would not give up her life for them if need be.
And yet...and yet there was something that pulled her away.
There was still a distance that caused Lumikani to feel disconnected from her sisters. Maybe it was the fact that she watched Elsheba choose the bow over teaching the triplets the way of the warrior. Lumikani wanted to learn with her sister, wanted to make so many of her sisters proud. And yet...when Elsheba turned away Lumikani began to turn away as well. Suddenly she wanted a different glory. Suddenly she wanted a different fame. Suddenly she wanted to see the tops of the trees and see the sky. The forest wasn't enough anymore.
Her lessons with her sisters became daydreams and her dreams became fantasies where she faded away. Lumikani knew she would travel the world and fight for her sisters. It had become an inevitability she had come to accept. She knew she would one day become a great Amazon and prove to her sister-kin that her smaller size would not stop Aisha's will from finding its mark. She would be the greatest Amazon this side of the wood, and then she would take over the other side.
And then, she would show her sisters that even a sister the size of an Earthling could win a war. Even if she had legs the size of sticks and fingers the size of twigs, the will of Aisha flowed through her bud, opened her flower, and brought her into this world.
But until then, she would reap every single moment of her life and take on every opportunity that was possible. She was young and full of life. She knew that and she had every excuse. She was a child, a youngling, and she was full of adventure and she wanted to play. There was still time to fight and prove herself, and she would make sure everyone knew her name. One day, even her enemies would know her. People would not laugh at the "Tiny Alkidike", they would cower...and she would deal with that soon. But today, today she would finally make it through the canopy.
One more branch, just pull through the pain. That's it Lumikani...push back those leaves...and there you go...

[❖ E ❖] Beliefs and Values [❖ E ❖] [- Event Post -] [- 767 words -] [- Andile -] Lumikani felt the energy humming through the air as her village began to prepare for the summer festival. Up above in the trees, everyone seemed to ignore her presence, which was fine with her. Watching her sisters suited her just fine, and as she settled against the rough bark the youngling took a moment to really think about everything that was in the back of her mind.
Aisha was always a figure in her thoughts, the driving force that pushed her on when she was feeling doubtful or questioning who she was inside. There was never a weakness, because she wasn't made to be weak despite what others may think. Even with her smaller form, she still was a sister and an Alkidike, and the great mother created her in her image. No, instead she used the thoughts of Aisha to keep her positive and strong, and to fuel her to break beyond the appearance that she had taken on. Aisha blessed her with this form, and she did it for a reason. For that, Lumikani would forever be thankful.
As Lumikani brushed her palms against the bark, she imagined touching Aisha herself, the thought sending chills across her skin.
Someday, soon, she would make the journey across the waters to the island where their mother resided, where she bloomed for the first time. The energy she imagined that flowed through the trees of her home would be nothing compared to when she finally laid sight on the true mother.
This celebration was the first step for her to show her mother how worthy she was of this form, of being blessed to come from a flower and not from one of the Earthlings of the land. She wouldn't call herself bitter or angry, but she had grown up understanding the true power of the lands, and knew that even her young newphew was at a disadvantage. His skin was different, his eyes as well, and it showed a different ruler had looked down upon him.
Gripping the bark harder, Lumikani knew that she was thankful he was with them if just to understand his blessing with Aisha. He was blessed to follow in her path instead of that of the other gods. The thought of nameless gods that others followed, that others would willingly move away from the trees and toward the darkness outside to pray to a worthless figure angered her. Aisha was tangible, she was in the trees that she climbed and in the air that they breathed. She gave and she took away. She watched over them every morning and tucked them in every night. There was no proof no matter what others claimed, there was no god or goddess out there like their mother. And if there was, if there was a god or goddess, they were not here, in the woods or in the trees, and for that Lumikani was thankful.
For no matter what those foolish others called them, the only true mother was Aisha, and if any turned her away they would be turning away life. That was the most important lesson any Alkidike could take away from their learning, and one Lumikani took to heart more than any other. She knew her size was different, but her blood was pure and her flower had bloomed.
Her creator had chosen her to breathe life into, and would continue to give her the strength to move forward.
A cry came from down below, and Lumikani looked out to see a sister was waving for her to come. The festivities were about to begin, and it was time for her to thank Aisha once more for everything. For life, for love, and for strength. Lumikani was an Alkidike sister, and it was her duty to give what thanks she could day in and day out. This day, although important, was nothing special compared to any other. It simply was a little longer in prayer, and a little louder in thanks.
With that thought in mind, Lumikani moved to jump down from the trees, and make her way toward her sisters. Maybe today would be a good time to speak with her mothers about visiting the great tree and speaking with the great mother and creator. Now was as good of a time as any, for she felt strong and ready despite her youth and size. Looking back up at the trees, Lumikani tried to imagine what Aisha would look like, what her leaves would be in color and shape, before rushing off to find someone and quell her thirst for knowledge.

[❖ S ❖] To The Island [❖ S ❖] [- Solo -] [- 460 words -] The time had come! Lumikani was officially old enough to travel to Chibale for the great festival.
Since she had been told by her mothers, Lumikani couldn't contain her excitement. Often she would go as far as she could to the west, scale the tallest trees, and attempt to see her home. Of course, it was a lost cause, but the young woman couldn't help but try her hardest and see.
The past few years she had begged to go, but for some reason her mothers decided it just wasn't the right time. Maybe it was the dissent that was sweeping through the tribe, or maybe it was just her age, but Lumikani had been bitter every year. Now, she could scream from the top of the trees, letting everyone know exactly where she was going.
Climbing down from the tree as the night began, Lumikani looked toward her newest companion, a Radaku she had named Azubuike. The creature was calm, always with its eyes on a swivel. Unfortunately, Lumikani couldn't bring the familiar along on the trip, although she begged. The two were close, warriors in arms, and the Radaku even had painted markings that matched Lumikani's own.
However, she would need to leave the beast at home.
When the time came to finally take a boat across the waters, Lumikani looked back on her home, but couldn't find it in herself to be sad. She would return, to both her familiar and her bed, but for now her eyes would stick forward. Wide and excited, she kept looking ahead and watching as the island would grow bigger and bigger.
To her sides were her sisters and mother, but she ignored them completely as she was stunned with her feelings. Excitement to see Aisha, appreciation for her trip finally happening, and wonder about what she was about to see. She knew what was expected from the festival, but being there would be an entirely new experience.
With no sorrow, she accepted that she wouldn't be around her sisters this trip, knowing her intent to move right to Aisha's roots and stay there as long as she could. This trip was temporary, and she would not waste her time with things she had at home. Her sisters would understand.
As the boats hit the soft soil of Chibale, Lumikani scrambled to get out and on the ground. Her mothers laughed, and she was sure Anya was rolling her eyes. Jumping on her toes like a youngling, she waited a beat for everyone to get off the boats before following their guide into the dense jungle. Each step was one closer to Aisha, to her love and her destiny, and they couldn't move quick enough.
She was here! She was home!

[❖ S ❖] The Great Mother [❖ S ❖] [- Solo -] [- 614 words -] It took awhile for Lumikani to get away from her sisters, but finally she found the strength and determination to approach Aisha. The ritual would begin the next day, but until that happened, Lumikani was content to just look up at the great tree. This silence and reverence was something she needed to do on her own, and she made sure that none of her sisters knew where she had ran off to.
Taking a deep breath, she brushed past the other sisters with a light touch, careful not to interrupt their own prayers and thoughts before the mother. This was the first time since she could remember that she had gotten this close to the tree, as she had bloomed and been taken far away to the lands of Jauhar. With each step closer to the tree, she could swear that the ground hummed like a gentle embrace.
It was as if Aisha was welcoming her home.
If in her head or actually happening, Lumikani had no clue. Odds were that it was simply the heavy heat of the lands, mixed with her own want to be noticed.
Everything seemed to glow brighter around the grand tree, the flora filling the land with a bright, soft blue light. Lumikani made sure to stay far enough away from the base, wise enough to know that the location was for those seeking their own blooms. Instead, she settled on the soft ground on her hands and knees. It was a humbling moment, and she made no noise or movement as she just sat there in the atmosphere of Aisha.
After what felt like hours, Lumikani shifted back on her legs only, setting her hands on her knees. Her gaze lifted up, higher and higher, until they got caught on the thick canopy above. Soft murmurs filled her ears as she settled in the new position, just thinking back to her past and then toward her future. Taking a deep breath, she paused to taste the air as well.
"Great mother..." She whispered softly to the trees above, closing her eyes and biting her lip, "My great creator. Thank you for the live you have bestowed on me. Through your guidance, I have blossomed into a strong and true Alkidike. I know you have meaning for me, and have given me a purpose in life though I've yet to find it."
She looked down to the thick bark of the tree, "I prey to you for continued guidance, for showing me the right path to make my sisters, my tribe, and you proud. I prey that I will become a strong and true warrior, and that I may bring pride to your branches."
Swallowing, she looked lower to where the roots settled into the ground, the glow strong and steady.
"I will do all I can to make you proud, great mother. I will do all I can to express my faith and appreciation for this life you have given me. I will seek your guidance, and be your vassal. I am yours, great mother."
Dropping her head to the ground, she dug her fingers into the soft and damp soil. There would be no approaching Aisha today, but Lumikani had faith that the great mother still heard her words. Breathing deeply once more, the young Alkidike gave a little not in contentment before moving to stand, and moving away from the great tree. She would come again tomorrow, and every day she was on the island, to show her faith and show her appreciation for the life she had been given by the great mother.
It was her duty, after all, to show her faith.

[❖ M ❖] Chapter 7: Rising Storm [❖ M ❖] [ 1 VP ] [- Meta Thread -] [- 7 posts -] [- 2,341 words -] [- Chibale -] Lumikani was at her first festival for the Great Mother, but something was brewing in the air. When the extremists began to speak out, she soon found herself against her sisters, and watching as other sisters began to threaten one another for blood. In an effort to get answers, she tried to seek out Eshe for guidance, but everything had set in motion, and there would be blood shed before any resolution would occur.
All Lumikani wanted was some answers from the Great Mother. And so, she decided to march...with Aselia.

[❖ S ❖] Marching To War [❖ S ❖] [ Class Affinity Solo ] [- Solo -] [- 1,013 words -] They were going to march to war.
Lumikani looked around her to the sisters who were prepping for a march. All of them held wild looks, the bloodlust for fighting and fulfilling the will of Aisha fueling their preparation. Lumikani kept silent most of the time, her thoughtful appearance ignored by the sisters. As long as she was there by their side, they seemed content enough to ignore her presence.
Letting out a deep sigh, she realized she was one of the youngest members of the large war party. All of the elder sisters were quick to get their weapons and what little supplies they needed. All she had was her Radaku and her dreams of being a strong fighter. It was too soon, way too soon for her to really step up and fight in this war. She had only just began her training with the many weapons of her sisters.
Yet, she knew what she wanted, and that was to fight for her mystics. Eshe was gone before she could get an answer to her question, and Yansa seemed to stick near the matron and the group. If Lumikani was more perceptive, she might have seen Yansa also holding to preservation to fighting fellow sisters, but her nerves and worries didn't allow her to seek the guidance of the elder fighter. Instead, she kept her mind internal, to her discussions with Anya and Elsheba, and to her path forward.
She needed to get a weapon.
At this point, Lumikani had a feeling that none of the more sturdy weapons would be permitted to her, her training leaving her with no viable claim. Most of the warriors would look at her as a burden, and tell her to stick to healing any injured. Yet she would not go to war without any sort of protection, and so she went to where the older weapons were stored. Discarded for newer ones, she quickly grabbed a training set of blades, having enjoyed the feel of the weapons during past training sessions. The blades were familiar, with a nice weight. Ignoring the wear and tear on the weapons, Lumikani almost felt secure and ready to step up against the Earthlings.
Although she was small for an Alkidike, she knew she could still fight an Earthling, the foolish creatures were still hardly close to her size.
Yes, she felt confident as she neared the war party, ready to march and fight as she needed. All she needed to do was focus on her lessons. It would be hard, considering she still felt the draw of the bloodlust energy of her sisters, but she had no room to really jump head first. Her skills were mediocre at best, so keeping close to others and using her strength would be the only option. She would not fail, and would not die unless it was for the greater cause.
Their march began swiftly, and Lumikani found she had no trouble keeping up. As they traveled through Jauhar, she felt the familiar nature of the trees. She couldn't help but climb up and travel through the branches, keeping high with fellow sisters who thought to do the same. The party moved quickly in the familiar landscape, and overlooked the silent camps of the color changing Earthlings. It seemed they were too focused to raze any lands, and that was fine for Lumikani.
Every night they rested in the lands, she slept high above, her hands brushing the bark of the trees and her mind reaching out to Aisha. Lumikani begged for answers, the ones she wanted before. She preyed that Aselia was alright, and that they were making the right choice. She didn't doubt her sisters, but she doubt the silence from the mystics. As soon as Aselia's party joined them, speaking of the mystic's location, Lumikani felt content. It seemed a sign had been delivered.
And then they moved on to the flatlands.
Immediately she had felt the emptiness of Aisha's reach, her eyes constantly looking back toward the forests behind her. The ground was strange, the plants stranger, and the creatures pitiful. If this is what was the fate the Earthlings with Aisha, than they were doing them a service by delivering them to her embrace. If they only accepted her guidance, odds were they too would feel the pleasure of her warmth.
The farther they got from Jauhar, the drier and deader the lands seemed to be. Lumikani tried to understand the draw of the strange trees and grass, but it was near impossible to do. The feel of Aisha just seemed long gone, and it drew her to be stronger than she expected. They were out of their element, but they were strong. She would do all she could to help her sisters, and to stand against the ones who stood with the Earthlings.
As they neared the lands that were their target, she began to feel her nerves. It was a mix between excitement and anticipation, and she was surprisingly calm. Everything was a hum of excitement and bloodlust, and Lumikani even joined in on some of the chants. Her focus landed on where the mystic wanted to be, the lands with the fire bird, and her heard began to beat faster. The march was over, and they were close to where they needed to be.
Already, she saw Aselia near the group, and they rested for the night away from where the enemy was. Lumikani decided she would get close to the mystic, determined to use the worn blades in her hands to protect the woman. It was the greatest honor to die for Aisha's chosen, and Lumikani would do all she could to make sure she didn't die, and Aselia didn't as well.
It was time to focus, to be the sister she needed to be. She would make Aisha proud. She would prove to everyone that she was a true Alkidike, and she would prove to her sisters that they chose the wrong side.
She was going to war.
She was ready.

[❖ M ❖] Chapter 7: Rising Storm - The Time Has Come [❖ M ❖] [ 2 VP ] [- Meta Thread -] [- 16 posts -] [- 3,904 words -] [- Sauti -] Lumikani marched to war, knowing that she would be facing both her sisters by bloom and her sisters by Aisha. Although displeased, in her heart Lumikani knew she was making the right decision. Everyone refused to listen to the mystics, but Lumikani knew her duty to her great mother and those who held her voice. So, she stood by her mystic and fought against the Earthlings and the sisters who faced them.
Unfortunately, they lost. Banished, they traveled across the great sea to a new home filled with mist and darkness. Lumikani knew that this trial was hers to face, and she would continue to fight as long as her mystic needed her.

[❖ S ❖] Journey South [❖ S ❖] [- Solo -] [- 1,032 words -] Her feet were sore. Her shoulders were tense. Her throat was parched and her hair a mess. Yet, nothing could compare to the pain that was in her heart as she moved south and away from the fighting lands.
Lumikani's heart was broken.
All around her, Earthlings were keen to keep her sisters in a group, intent on forcing them south and out of the promised lands. Each step she took was one away from Aisha, one away from her sisters and her family. Each step was one that tore into her soul.
However, Lumikani would not cry.
When she first began her walk away from the battleground, Lumikani swore that she would protect her heart and protect her mind from the people around her. Only when they arrived in their new home would she let her emotions come to the surface, let her feelings up and finally mourn the loss she was facing. The uncertainty was something she couldn't worry about now, not unless she wished to give the Earthlings around her more fuel for their hatred and mocking.
Oh how she wished she were better suited for war, a little older and wiser and able to fight. How she wished she could do more than sneer at the faces that mocked her, to act more like a seasoned Amazon than the whelp that she felt she was. If only she had true blades in her hands than the practice ones, ones she could fully sharpen until they would slice through her enemies like the papers of Anya's books.
Swallowing, Lumikani knew she had to push those thoughts of her sisters away before they took over.
As she made her way through Oba, she found the sand disgusting and the lack of trees disheartening. It was proof that Aisha did not bless those outside of her roots. These disgusting pests took from the land with no return, and would only strangle their great mother. The sisters who sided with them would face a future like the land around them, barren and without any love. It was the only logical conclusion she could make from the sights around her.
Without Aisha, the world was doomed.
No trees to run through, no creatures to flourish. Just barren silence and stifling heat. Tugging on her dreads again, Lumikani bit her lip to ensure she wouldn't growl out at the people around her, yet again.
It was times like these that she focused only on those around her, and mainly Aselia. The mystic was the one she would follow, despite the matron that was leading the pack. Aselia was her light, her guiding force, and the last line she had with their great mother. Lumikani feared asking the mystic if she had heard anything since the battle, afraid of the truth even if she wouldn't admit it. As long as she didn't ask, she could assume Aselia had Aisha's blessing.
Lumikani had all but memorized the mystic before her, as if she were some sort of goddess. Her hair, her markings, her movements, and her mannerisms. It was partially because Lumikani had nothing better to do during their journey, but it was also because of how much she idolized and respected the mystic. It was if the mystic was the center of her world now, so it made sense she would focus everything on her.
Lumikani chose Aselia over her own family, and now she felt that there was no one else she could focus on.
When she finally realized how deep her obsession went with Aselia, Lumikani was caught off guard. She had to stay off on her own and sort through all of her thoughts. Before, behind Aselia her faith was always in her family. It seemed in the past few weeks all of that changed. With her sisters turning against her, refusing to listen to her thoughts and placing her as a traitor, she only could focus on Aisha. Then, she saw Aselia, the one she wanted to defend, and she all but clinged to the mystic like a youngling.
It wasn't love, but a sense of duty and a replacement for her family.
Even now, as she looked at her mystic, she couldn't bring herself to get too close. It was a mixture of being too nervous and a feeling of unworthiness. During the fight, she had no qualms with fighting beside Aselia because it was all in the name of sacrificing her life for the mystic. Aselia was a symbol of Aisha, and therefore Lumikani was filled with the duty to protect her from anyone, even her sisters.
She said it before, that she would lay down her life for Aselia. It seemed only on the journey south that the weight of that decision weighed down on her soul. Looking back, Lumikani had no regrets for her decisions or her actions on the battlefield. In her mind, she was following the law of the lands and protecting the future of the Alkidikes. It wasn't about taking over the land they deserved, although she agreed to a point. It wasn't about purging the world from Earthlings.
Lumikani even was insulted when they tried to claim that the extremists wouldn't stop at Earthlings, and would go for 'defunct' Alkidikes. She wouldn't turn against a sister.
No, this was about protecting the voice of her mother, of Aisha, and actually listening for a change. No one would listen, not to Eshe, not to Aselia, and not to Aisha. So, Lumikani was determined she would only follow the ones she could listen to, the ones of reason.
And that, was Aselia.
Upon sight of the great sea, and ultimately the island they would call home, Lumikani kept silent and in her thoughts. Her aspiration growing up was to prove others wrong about her size. Now, now it was about protecting her Mystic, and growing strong to be the best warrior she could be. The traitorous sisters would pay, the earthlings would pay, and anyone who stood in front of her blade to get Aselia would be struck down without a thought.
Lumikani would be the strongest, the truest Alkidike that Tendaji had ever seen.
