A Curious Meeting
Eirlys first meets Huyana and sees a little of why he's...well known.

A Day with the Littles

It was just like any other day in the household of the owners of the Hearthside Inn. The two loving mothers had requested their firstborn to watch over the younger children.

Yet.

Again.

Eirlys sighed as she leaned against the doorframe watching her numerous younger siblings prepare their lunch. She allowed the older children to show the younger ones what to do provided no one attempted to use the sharpened knives. She blinked at the sight of her mother’s male Radaku, pushing its snout under a little one trying to reach for a higher object. The creature lifted the child up, waited till they retrieved the item they wanted before lowering them back down. The female went without her usual fur lined cape as she was inside. So, her skirted corset was covered with the apron she wore while doing housework. She smiled gently at all of her siblings...while the littlest three were far too young to actively help. Their elders were more than willing to give them small tasks to help with.

Her gaze fell to the eldest boy, Eurit. The young boy was nearly 13 years of age. One of his parents was a wind female, his Father was a Ice. After his birth the story went that his father was killed by another wind male in jealousy. His mother refused to care for the infant so instead her Mother took the child in. The boy stood at her mid-upper arm. His skin was the palest blue a Ice being could get, his short mesy hair the deepest blue on the opposite end of the scale. His crystals were oval shaped, sparse but scattered over his neck leading into his shoulders as well as hidden on his inner thighs. While his ears were as long as a Ice beings, his crystals were the deepest pink of the Wind. The most striking thing about the boy had to of been the bright blue eyes of the Wind, they held many in their fierce gaze.

Hearing a soft little huff Eirlys smiled at the second eldest girl. Eerilly was a pure Ice female, abandoned after her Mother died of crystal rot. Fearing the child had also contracted it, her Father simply dropped her in the snow. Eirlys’ Mother had swiped the infant after thoroughly making the male regret ever breathing. Eerilly was a slender girl, her skin the deepest blue of her people. Her slightly curly hair was of the lightest blue. Her eye were a sweet medium gold, while her round crystals were of a matching intensity. The young girl came up a few inches shorter than her elder brother. Though both were of the same age, it was easy to tell who was more mature. Eerilly held herself with a bit more confidence than her brother. The common argument the two had was because she was more accepted than he was due to her being a pure blood.

It was a argument Eirlys was quick n** in the bud. She didn’t want her siblings to grow up hating one another. Which was something Eirlys feared would be hard for the next daughter to do as she got older. Eurfi was abandoned when she was old enough to remember her parents. Sadly, her mother was young and lost the instinct...or perhaps never had it in her to begin with. The child’s unruly curly hair was the color of pale starlight, her skin was the darkest of Ice during the day..once night fell it lightened to the palest Ice. An odd but alluring quality the girl possessed. Her eyes a striking soft gold, while her narrow crystals were a solid pale blue. She had the short pointed ears of her Shifter blood, while her crystals were placed more akin to her Ice blood as they flecked along her neck and thighs.. Eurfi was always willing to help her siblings and that was apparent with the next child…

The next sibling that caught the eldests attention was rumored to be the legit half brother to Eurfi. Eiota. He was found with the same blood lineage, Shifter and Ice but it was never confirmed on which parent was what. As the child was legit left on their doorstep at a week old. The child did not have shifting skin like the elder hybrid. Instead it seemed as if he held all the paleness of both tribes. Pale silver hair framed a slender pale blue body. His hair falling straight to his small shoulders. While pale blue pointed stones highlighted starlight gray eyes. An interesting thing to note about him would have to be that his eyes had this small little hue of the palest gold, while his stones...some held an almost star shape to them. His crystals were placed delicately on his hips, neck and shoulders. He had pointed ears which seemed to drop just a little. The child’s overall look was small, frail and gentle. Which was a blessing compared to…

Eirlys flinched as she heard something break. Leaning around the doorframe to see the pure blooded twins. Erroe and Eorre. They were, like her, born of one of their Mothers. Though they had virtually no blood relation to each other the twins still held a lot of respect for the eldest sibling. As well as all the love towards the rest of the family. Eirlys suspected they resented their Mother’s just a little, but not enough to prevent them from loving the two women. Both brothers had the same shade of a pale medium blue-purple. While one had slightly darker hair than the other, it wasn’t too noticeable unless one truly looked. A slight difference in how their feathered layered hair fell was another indicator of which twin one was dealing with. Erroe’s bangs fell more to the left while Eorre fell more to the right. Their eyes were brighter than Eirlys’ giving them a more impish gleam. While their jagged dark crystals were in nearly identical places on the sides of their neck, ribs and thighs. Erroe the older twin had half a shade darker than his younger twin, Eorre. Both boys had the pointed ears of their tribe.

The eldest sighed as she watched the twins quickly clean up the mess. A soft giggle made her look to a small boy helping with putting the toys for the infants away. Erhadu, was just getting into the more serious chores. Like a few of his elders he was a pure Ice tribesmen. Though the child’s story was probably the one that tore at Eirlys’ heart the most. Erhadu was abandoned after his Father killed his Mother in a rage...sadly the toddler wasn’t spared either as the large scar on his chest would serve to prove. Eirlys knew that the Father would up on the wrong end of her Mother’s Male Janarim the mate to her prized Female. With the pointed ears of their people, Erhadu was great at picking up the sounds of his family. His skin wasn’t the palest it could go, but it was close. Large soft gold eyes spoke clearly of the child’s gentle nature. His narrow oval shaped stones lined his neck like a V-cut collar, a small trail went down to the center of his chest. A trio of those same crystals lined his inner thighs. His hair was the deepest blue-purple of their tribe, falling in gentle waves to the child’s elbows. Erhadu gently helped the youngest girl stand on a small stool to put something away.

A Day with the Littles
Part 2

The youngest daughter, Eituta, of the small clan was a small child of a odd mix indeed. Her Father being of the Leaf tribe, while her Mother was of the Ice. Giving her by far the most striking if not...a bit odd appearance of the clan. She held the darkest skin tone of the Leaf, combined with the dark brown hair they possess. Though her eyes were the brightest of the Ice, her crystals were the darkest they could get. The small child’s round crystals were placed in random patterns on her stomach, shoulder blades and neck. Her story was simple. Soon after her birth her Mother brought her to their Mama saying she couldn’t live with the shame of bearing a child like her. There was no further need for contact after that. Eirlys remembered that day well. Her Mama actually looked furious.

Next to the youngest girl was the second youngest boy, Erbanu. Of the same mix as their eldest brother, being of Wind and Ice. He was one of the ones who stood out the most as a hybrid. With the pale skin of the Wind combined with long ears of his Ice ancestors. His eyes were the palest gold of the Ice, while his crystals were of the palest blue. Fluffy pale gold hair gave him a sleepy look, which wasn’t that far off the mark. The boy’s pale blue narrow crystals scattered along his shoulders, calves and chest. It was an unfounded rumor that linked him to the same woman that brought the eldest son into the world. All Eirlys knew is that a Ice male brought him to their door one day saying he found the toddler asleep in an alley. Ever since he became an irreplaceable part of their family.

She looked down at her feet when she felt a small tug. Smiling down at the pure ice infant she bent down to pick him up. Elfani, was the recent addition to their little family. The child being sired by a family friend who was unable to care for him. His Mother was absent and had been confirmed to want nothing to do with the child or Father. His Father was a shady dealer, but never failed to surprise Eirlys or her siblings. He truly showed fondness for his son, and had become Uncle to all the children. The child was a gentle shade of blue with deep gold eyes. His hair was a medium shade of blue that liked to just fly everywhere. Small star shaped crystals flecked along the infant's neck and chest, a little also flecked along his inner thighs. Small long pointed ears flicked once in awhile when he got mad at something.

The female chuckled as she watched her siblings. Walking out to them she hummed a small tune as they all kept going about the daily house chores. She mused over taking them out for a bit or just staying home all day. Sitting she bounced the infant on her knee as she thought. She couldn’t leave them all alone, so what should she do?

The eldest boy looked over at his sister. Smirking he nodded at a few other siblings before turning to ask his sister as he dried off his hands. “So...rumor has it you’ve been spotted with Huyana.”

Eirlys froze in mid-thought as she looked at her brother. “What about it?” She quirked an eyebrow.

The boy tilted his head with a smirk. “What you think of him?”

He paled as his elder sister narrowed her eyes. “Avoiding to answer…”

He gulped. “We just wanna know if their true! That’s all…” he waved his hands in front of him as if that would stop his sister’s wrath. He knew it wouldn’t, but it was a nice thought.

Eirlys sighed as she leaned back. “He’s comfortable to be around. He doesn’t hide his intentions...while their crass, his words are purer than most around here.” She then held out a hand to her brother. “That answers both of your questions. Ball’s in your court little brother.”

Eurit blinked. Shoot. Eirlys was good at taking control of the conversation. He had her off guard before, but backing down gave her the upper hand. He relaxed his shoulders using the one thing he knew would through her for a loop. “Is that why you have his sleeves in your trunk upstairs?”

There was utter silence, Throl had even stopped helping with lifting the baskets of fruit to be put away to apparently listen to this. Eirlys blushed before looking away. “Th-that’s not...okay fine! Yes. I have the sleeves! What’s that to you?!?”

Eurit smiled. “Nothing, just means that there’s a chance we could have a rather interesting big brother. I don’t mind him in the least. Youl hasn’t gone for his throat yet so that means he’s passed her test. Which means he’s okay in my book. What about the rest of you?”

“Duh!” Came from Eerilly over by a cupboard putting away a few toys. Eurfi echoing her sister’s sentiment a few feet away.

From where they were cleaning up their mess the twins along with Eiota all said at the same time. “Yup!”

Erhadu from Throl’s side giggled as he nodded. “Yes, big brother!” Eituta and Erbanu from Throl’s other side giggled in agreement with their elders.

Eirlys smiled at them all then looked down at a smiling Elfani. She shook her head. “I guess that means I’m okay to attempt something further huh?”

Eurit had turned back to the sink. Putting the last of their lunch dishes to the side to be dried by the twins once they were able he seemed to be thinking about something. He turned back. “That also means you can leave…”

There was silence from the whole collection at that one. The youth inhaled slowly. “You always wander out, but come right back. I know why...there’s those that’ll hurt us here still. You...I know you have a dream to train beasts to protect. I want you….we….we want you to pursue it. You can’t do that here, Eiri. Your….trapped.”

Eirlys stood, shifting Elfani to her hip. “Eurit-----”

A Day with the Littles
Part 3

“We already talked about this. All of us agree. You’re stuck here cuz you don’t want us to be without protection. Eiri, that’s great...that’s awesome...but that’s not what we want for you. We want you to be out there. Training. Learning. Just like all of us will be one day, we’ll find our paths….you have to set that example first. Huyana is most likely going to leave again soon...go with him. Take one of the young that you’ve been working with alongside Mother. Leave. Don’t worry about us...we learned from you. We can handle those clowns.” After saying his piece the youth crossed his arms.

Eirlys smiled down at him, walking over she ruffled his hair. “When did you grow up?”

Eurit chuckled. “When you weren’t looking.”

The female let out a hearty laugh. “Alright, well what are we going to do now? Go outside and play? Or…?”

“Stay inside. Our chores are done but I heard the Nana’s talk about the feeling of a bad storm coming.” Eerilly said as she looked out a window to the skies above.

Eirlys came to stand next to her, reading the skies like she was taught and made a face. “Their right. Alright. Boys go secure the windows upstairs. I’m going to the Inn to let the current customers know.”

Eirlys’ home was set up rather interestingly. The family’s main home was a three level dome shaped hut. The very top level was their Mother’s and Mama’s room, while the next level was divided into two large rooms. One for the boys, the other for the girls. The first level was the common living area taken up on one part by the kitchen and a den where they ate their meals together. The other was where the infant beasts that their Mother was raising were kept. The adults had their own enclosures in an adjoining smaller hut, connected to the main hut by a covered walkway. Another covered walkway connected to the second biggest building in their village.

The Inn, it had a more formal name, but most just kept it simple. It wasn’t as big as the Elder’s Hut located in the center of the village, but it did come close. The first level was equipped with a fully stocked kitchen ran by a kindly elderly ice female, the staff that helped at the Inn were older hybrids that came through and decided to stay. There were three more levels where rooms were for guests. Like in her own home there was a spiral staircase that went up the center of both huts. As the dome shape helped reduce the weight of the falling snow.

The young woman walked through the hall and opened the hidden door in the Inn’s kitchen. Smiling at Nana Baska she gestured to the open window. “Did you need help securing everything? It looks like a storm’s coming up.”

The elder shook her head. “No, dearie. The boys here got them all. We’ll be fine. You go back and make sure that the sweethearts are all snug alright?”

Eirlys chuckled. Baska may of been older than most in the small cluster of huts, but the female was a former warrior. That could be seen in the still limber body and sharp mind she held. Eirlys would of stayed to talk longer but the older woman was already rushing her back out. Shaking her head she walked back to her home and shut the door. Well that was that. She looked around hearing some of the kids in the den while the rest were finishing upstairs. Leaning at the bottom of the spiral she called up. “Inn’s secure! How’s the upper levels?”

She heard Eurit call back. “All secure!” Smiling as he and the rest of the boys dashed down the spiral and into the den. Eirlys chuckled as she busied herself with honey tea for them all. Smiling down as her little sister’s got all the cups out. Once all were settled in the den with honey tea, they could hear the start of the winds.

Eurfi voiced all of their worries. “Hope, Mama and Mother are alright.”

Eirlys chuckled. “They’ve been through worse...they’ll be fine. We’ll see them in the morning just like always.”

The siblings passed sometime just telling stories of each other’s day to the rest. A few who shared adventures chimed in with a eggatrated bit here and there. Eirlys chuckled and laughed...all the while remembering Eurit’s earlier words.

She would make ready to leave soon. See the rest of what Zena had to offer...maybe even earn her first beast on her own. She smiled knowing she’d miss her siblings greatly. Catching Eurit’s knowing eye she nodded. His smile giving her the steely resolve to finally let her siblings grow.

Solo
Raising Hope

Eirlys sat on her bed watching her sisters pick out their outfits for the day. It was the day that they all would help in training their Mother’s infant beasts. She glanced to the sleeves she snagged from Hyuana. Blushing at how exactly she got them the female shook her head to clear it of those thoughts. Letting out a long sigh she just wanted to be outside already. Standing the female was in her usual green skirted corset smiling at her sisters as they all stood waiting for her. She strode out opening the door to smile at her brothers who all were hanging around the top of the spiral waiting for their sisters. The small crowd made their way downstairs, Elfani already ahead of them since the nursery was apart of their parents floor. She nodded to her Mother’s…

The older woman of the two was a Beast Master, Orllya. Her skin was the same shade as the twins, being as she was their Birth Mother. While her hair was actually lighter than theirs, it held the same layered texture. She kept it short to avoid the animals from pulling it. Dark blue crystals scattered themselves along her neck and inner thighs. She hand none on her front and didn’t particularly like that Eirlys showed hers off so much. Eirlys suspected that since the elder female didn’t favor her birth father she left Eirlys alone out of respect to her mate. The eldest member of the family was strict with her children, the twins acted out but not as much as they could of if their Mother was a bit more….kinder. Much like their Mama was with them.

The slender younger half of the two parents was a Mystic, Freiite. Being Eirlys’ birth mother she shared a lot in common with the eldest child. The first and most striking was their hair. Eirlys inherited the dark blue locks from her Mama, while the daughter held more indigo streaks than her mother. The gentle mother had indigo bangs which framed her face in much of the same wavy style as her child. Her skin was pale, a beautiful color to her children’s eyes. Her crystals decorated her front in a more simpler style than Eirlys, while also able to be found sparingly on her inner thighs. They were a richer, darker color a pleasant contrast to her skin tone.

“Fantastic we’re all awake and ready, I hope?” Their Mama asked while smiling kindly. She had Elfani sitting on one hip as she stood in the family’s den. Behind her was the small litters of pups and other young from their Mother’s animals. The infants were kept inside for a short time as the cold outside would still be too much for them. Eirlys walked to the small half wall that acted as the barrier. There was a swinging door that the kids could unlock to enter the infants den. She looked out beyond it into the den itself.

It was mostly covered in large pillows and this soft mat that you had to walk barefoot on. The children’s shoes were all lined up on the family's side of the wall. As she opened the den’s gate the female stopped to stare down a hyper janarim pup who tried to cross the line. The pup stopped tucked its tail between its legs and backed up as fast as it could. The female sighed as she waited for all her siblings to enter. Following them she was followed by her Mother. Crossing her arms the eldest child waited for their tasks for today.

Their Mother surveyed her small cluster of children. Mentally going over who would do what and how well...along with who needed to improve in what aspect of rearing a beast. She let her gaze fall to Eirlys. The eldest child felt her Mother’s piercing...judging...gaze. She set her jaw as she shifted to look more confident than that gaze allowed her to feel.

“Alright today...Eurit, Erroe, Eorre and Erbanu will feed the Radaku’s today. Eerilly, Eurfi and Eituta are going to help with the Mammu today.” the small Clan’s leader looked to Eirlys. “Eirlys will train with Howl.”

Eirlys felt her blood run a tad colder than normal. She looked outside to the jet black Janarim that stood as the Alpha Male of her Mother’s prized pack.Youl’s mate. Howl didn’t train with you...he was the trainer and you were his puppet. His pups that he took under his wing were nearly impossible for her level of experience to train. Though her Mother seemed to have no issue commanding the imposing little monsters. She sighed as she squared her shoulders and nodded briskly. Howl sat outside of the Infants Den just watching her impassively. At his feet sat a pure white pup who was his mini in attitude. Though its Mother in appearance as she was a pure white Female.

The young female reached over the half wall to get her boots before walking across the Den to stand before Howl. She was eye level with the beast. Howl sat there staring, blinking slowly as he sized up the spirited female in front of him. Rising the beast led the way outside, his pup following him. Eirlys watched the pup. It had been the runt of the litter. Howl took the pup before Youl could even sniff at it. Eirlys had remembered her Mother seemingly worried...the pup was one of the only white ones among the jet black litter. Instead the male had found a warm bowl of water, washing the pup before licking it to life.

Eirlys had watched it with fascinated eyes. Howl had saved his pup’s life, sadly Youl refused to feed the infant. So, Howl had sat to watch as Eirlys was tasked with feedings. It was her Mother’s way of testing how much Eirlys wanted this. Wanted to pursue this path. Eirlys didn’t bond with the pup, she knew that. The pup responded more to its Father than her. She wasn’t bothered. It just showed how much of the Wild was still in the bloodline. A challenge was way better than a tamed pet.

She put her boots back on before joining the parent and infant pair outside. The first thing she was greeted by was a pawful of snow. Sputtering she stared open mouthed at the smug Howl.

“Oh it is on!” she retorted picking up her own snowball. The female found the ensuing snowball fight odd. The Janarim learned to use his claw-like paws to easily scoop up snow to fling at her. She in turn wasted time trying to form the ball to retaliate. Giving up on that she resorted to Howl’s method. Noting that now the Janarim was also creeping up to surprise her with a near n** to her clothes. Eirlys was breathless, panting and nearly laughing when she finally felt a tug. She had looked down to see the pup at the corner of her skirt. She looked to Howl who stood not too far away. She knew one hit and she would be done. That was how ‘Training with Howl’ worked...if you hit him once. You won. If you fell without a hit...he won.

She leaned down as if she was going to fall. Then grabbed a handful of snow to throw it in the shocked Janarim’s face. Howl snorted out a nostril of snow. Eirlys blinked...that worked?!? Howl looked at her then laid down in the snow. She cheered for joy as she felt the pup suddenly pull her off balance. She fell into the snow laughing as a pup pounced her stomach. Sitting on her in victory the pure white pup seemingly smiled down at her.

Eirlys chuckled as she knew that her path was set. She loved working with beasts. There really wasn’t anything like it...so...she called out. “Mother! I need a whip!”

Growing Pains
"...I gotta what?"

Eirlys had found herself in a pickle...a situation. A horrible...horrible situation.

She had to tell someone “No.”

Don’t get her wrong, Eirlys wouldn’t hesitate to stand up for her siblings or close friends. Granted that most of her friends were now off on their own adventures and one...extremely close friend was leaving at sundown. She rolled her eyes at the cliche of it all. Huyana was leaving for Sauti at sundown, with or without her depending on her choice. Right now the female was laying on a cleared out plank of wood, the janarim pup laying on her stomach as she absently petted it. The female was just thinking about what she was going to do. Seriously thinking of her feelings towards to the ice male.

Their first meeting was interesting. She had remembered all of the rumors around him, the whispers weren’t too pleasant for her to hear. Though the male seemed to brush it off with confidence. Eirlys could venture a guess from later experience with the male that he was sorta bothered by it. She gently tapped her fingers on the pup’s back as her mind went over the events that first meeting entailed. Her fall in the river wasn’t planned...though his gentlemanly manner was something that was refreshing to her nonetheless. She blushed as she recalled that the male was more than confident as he showed off everything he had to offer. A shudder ran through her body as she recalled that moment. Though at the time she figured that she would of gladly of allowed the male anything he was seeking had she been anyone else. Since she was who she was, the female wanted to test the male. Seems her test was going rather well…

Seeing him again had lead to the Limbara encounter. Which lead to---Eirlys felt her body warm up at the result. Then glanced to the sleeves which she now wore, lifting an arm she smiled softly.

“Seems you got cozy with the town vagabond.” a snide voice said from below her. Eirlys felt her entire good mood just...drop. She slowly sat up to look down at the male standing below her perch. He crossed his arms. The male was, Mato. According to most of the females in the village he was number one on their list of ‘Potential Baby Daddies’...well that was the list of one friend had. Huyana was number five, but that was out of respect to Eirlys’ interest in him. Eirlys had changed up her outfit to favor the new sleeves, though she was missing a few pieces she had the basic outline. The rest was back home waiting for her, her mama was working on the final touches.

“I don’t see how that is your issue...or how you would even know of that…” she replied cooly, crossing her legs to sit poised.

The male scoffed. “It’s all over the rumor mill...someone saw you two run from one of those blasted beasts from that cursed island. You ran to that hut of yours---”

Eirlys lept down to land in front of him. “You stalked me. I told you before, the ONLY way you would've even gotten a HINT at where that Hut was is if you followed me.” She didn’t advance but did take up a stance of trying to be imposing. Which seemed to be falling as the male advanced on her. Eirlys backed up and felt her body hit the side of the shed she had been resting on. Snowflakes. This was not good…

“I’ve been pursuing you for years. What does some vagabond, womanizing bedfellow have that I seem to be lacking?!?” he leaned above her glaring down. Eirlys heard the small growl above them. She let out a sharp whistle.

“Pup...stay.” She didn’t need this jerk hurting that infant. Howl would rip his throat out and get Youl along with Throl to help bury the body. She didn’t want to have her parents explain that to this guys parents….

Considering his Father was one of the best hunters in the village. Best to stay on his good side. She shifted, ready to put her boot in his groin to get him off of her. Personal space was a need at this moment she mused. He tilted his head. “Well...are you going to answer me or not?”

Eirlys quirked an eyebrow. “Huyana. Has a sense of morals, despite what the rumors have to say about him. He has a spine. Isn’t afraid to remain who he is to go against all that is said about him. You on the other hand prove everything I have ever thought and said about you. Your arrogant, self centered and above all...the worst possible mate for me as a person.” As she spoke the female was happy that the other began to back up away from her. Eirlys let her shoulders relax before flinching when the male’s fist met the wall next to her midsection.

The implication didn’t miss her. If she was a expecting Mother, that would of ended the life within her. She paled as the thought entered her mind. This male was that territorial of what he believed he was entitled to...he would threaten a unborn child that might of belonged to his rival. An entirely beastial mindset in her mind, but one she knew was highly dangerous. Her going with Huyana was looking better and better by the millisecond. She let her eyes narrow as her boot came up to meet his gut. She bypassed his groin knowing that would set off a few instincts which wouldn’t fall in her favor.

Pushing him further away she grabbed the roof edge, then flipped up to land on the shed roof. She glared down at him. “You’re more beast than man.” it was a statement not a observation. The male growled up at her.

“You...are one of the most prized females of this village. You’re a purebreed. You belong on the arm of one who’ll remain to keep this village pure!” he spat out.

Eirlys shook her head. “I’ve heard those words before. Pure Venom from the fangs of a snake that would devour all hope for unity in this world. I’m done with you! This place and every narrow minded fool in it.” she stood. Turning to scoop up the infant she landed on the snow and took off for her home. She was going to leave this place with Huyana.

It took her a bit to get back as she took a winding path home. She slammed the door behind her shaking as she slid to the floor. Her Mama stood there worried. “Eirlys, my love. What’s wrong?”

“Remember that suitor Mother approved...he’s narrow. Mama...I can’t...he speaks venom. I don’t want him near my siblings. I can’t...I don’t wanna be here anymore Mama.” she whimpered as she let a few tears fall. She lowered her head to her bent knees. Feeling the shawl her Mama wore wrap around her with her Mama’s warmth.

“Eirlys...I’m sorry love--” her Mama muttered. The mystic looked around, grateful that her more stern mate wasn’t home at the moment. There would of been a great risk of an argument between the eldest and the apparent Family Leader. The mystic rose, folding her arms into her sleeves as she looked back to the other children. “There will be no hope of changing his mind if he is narrow, my love. It's a flaw in this diamond village that your Mother and I fear will one day cause a crack in its brilliance.”

Eirlys didn’t look up but she heard her Mama walk away. Looking up she let out a soft gasp as she saw her what her Mama held in her hands. “My gift to you. Take it.”

Eirlys took the new corset. Smiling down at it she looked back up. “Mama---”

“Take Pup with you. Your Mother intended to allow you to leave with him later. I suppose I should send word to Huyana’s family to see if they know of a quick method to reach their son.” the female said with a knowing smile. Eirlys didn’t reply but graced her Mama with a rich blush. “I knew the moment I saw him next to you my love. Now then...is her pack ready?”

Eirlys stood as her siblings brought out her pack. She got a smaller one fit for transporting a tired Janarim pup. She looked back to her siblings. She’d have to stop protecting them once she left, she’d have to let them fight their own battles. This was going to be hard...then she thought on it. If she stayed...she’d lose Huyana. He’d most likely return...but...she’d most likely wouldn’t be in his heart...not that she was sure she was now. She just hoped.

Shaking her head she got everything, then kissed her Mama’s cheek. “Tell Mother, I’m sorry I couldn’t go with her plan.” she meant that. She knew her Mother had a plan for Eirlys to stay to help strengthen the family trade. She left when she felt her Mama kiss her temple. Running off with Pup at her heels. She smiled as she saw Huyana’s caravan.

“Hey!!! You wouldn’t leave without your Beast Tamer now would you?!?”

Lesson Eirlys Learned
You don't always need someone to be your shield. She's used her siblings and even Huyana as 'shields' of some sort over her lifetime. This moment proved to her that she can in fact defend herself.
