Heart Log Solo "This is the plan," she muttered to herself, "Kill the ... Kill the ..."
Chaesel groaned to herself in annoyance. No matter how many times she repeated the little mantra to herself in her lonesomeness, the ending never quite finished right. She knew there were words that were supposed to go in that place, but her mind couldn't reach them.
"Kill the ... goddesses." With a clenched jaw, she threw another stone into the endlessly churning water that hugged the shoreline of the World's Edge. The stone dipped across the water, sailing a few steps before being lost beneath the murky waves. She sighed, feeling a little melancholy. She liked being out and fighting in the fray, but whenever she had time alone to herself like this, it was hell.
She didn't like being subject to the goddesses, but if they were running the joint, what was she supposed to do? She was so divided, choosing between following and rebelling. On the one hand, the only time she felt good was when she was fighting (a task sent by the goddesses) or when she was receiving the goddesses blessings.
On the other hand, they were making her commit murder sevenfold.
Her hand pressed firmly against another rock she'd picked up. Chaesel felt a bit like the rock actually. It was smooth, unblemished; no memories to stain and warp it. Once she threw it into the water, it was there. It could either fight an uphill battle and go against the tide, or it could just float downwards with the current, sinking into the depths forever.
Either way, she was lost to the water.
So which way did she choose? Did it even matter which fight she fought? They were all going to end at the same path. "C'mon little rock. Tell me something I don't know. Sing me a new song." She stared at it, squeezed it so tightly with her hands it seemed as though it might burst. Of course, this did nothing to help her situation.
With a groan, Chaesel threw the rock into the water, a high arc into the sky.
It landed on an outcropping of rock with a soft thud. It wasn't in the water at all.
Chaesel blinked. That was an odd answer for the rock to give her, yet it was nearly perfect. She didn't have to do either things. She didn't have to kill the goddesses with her own two hands, but she didn't have to follow them blindly. It was her life. She could do whatever the hell she wanted! Whether it played into the goddesses' hands or not didn't matter. She didn't need to become a goddess, but she didn't need to stop them either!
With newfound excitement, she stood up from the bank, dusting herself off and picking up her sword. She could do whatever the hell she wanted. The first thing she wanted to do?
Go fight some monsters.
