■ Personality ■ General: When the Sorting Hat was placed on Quillan's flaming cap, it would have been a lie to say that everyone who knew of him, whether it be from family relations or just through the Hogwarts Train, weren't shocked to find such a daft boy being placed in Slytherin--they were guessing Hufflepuff! This was for several reasons: 1) his father was in Gryffindor, and 2) there didn't seem to be a motivated bone in his body. However, though Quillan was nothing of the sort 'Slytherin,' he didn't ponder his fate for too long. That was, though he could not see why at the moment, because he was truly destined for Slytherin.
The sorting hat was correct to place him in Slytherin, it could see what Quillan was blind to. When the musky hat was placed upon his head, it immediately saw a drive--a drive to whatever he wants WHEN he wants it, regardless of others. Though, that alone, didn't place him in Slytherin. It was the methods Quillan was capable of using which threw him into the snake pit. The boy was extraordinarily selfish, and in that way, he was manipulative, and thoroughly 'Slytherin.' And in those attempts to ease his own troubles, Quillan was determined. It wasn't for necessarily devious reasons that Quillan was placed in Slytherin, it was the fact that he had all the qualities of a Slytherin, minus the conniving venom.
But it was a fat chance that anyone would believe that after being placed in Slytherin. No one was outright mean to him, but they were weary. After all, weren't Slytherin's the ones who turned out to be criminals? And, even more unnervingly, if Quillan was ever asked if he could see himself in Azkaban, he would reply yes. After all, he wasn't one to follow rules.
But nor was he one to lie. So he answered the question truthfully, Quillan could picture himself in a cell, locked up somewhere. But he could also see himself snuggling with dragons every night before he fell asleep. But while he may not lie, it does not extend to white lies. More often than not, he can sway his company with a harmless white lie.
But why would he use white lies if he's a nice boy? To answer that question, Quillan is one devious child. While he may not be outright cruel, he does have a side to him that is particularly 'Slytherin'. Perhaps it wasn't even being Slytherin, it's him being a child. Quillan is by no stretch of the imagination a mature, polished adult. In fact, he's eleven, and one should not expect such things of him. They should, however, expect him to be downright tricky sometimes. Quillan can be slippery, it's hard to pin him down or corner him--whether it's a conversation or playing tag. He is relentlessly stubborn and resilient.
And he's also very, very, very possessive. Stubbornness has a part to play in this, and with these two factors combined, Quillan is outrageously possessive of those he likes. And when it comes to this, he can be very annoying. Poking, prodding, and desperately trying to get attention of them. It's an odd personality trait because normally, Quillan isn't attention-loving. However, he adores the people he likes--whether or not they like him. For instance, it doesn't have to be a mutually friendship. Quillan could just like teasing them, or even just watching their actions. Either way, if he's fond of someone, he's bound to make it clear.
Thus, while not on the surface, Quillan is indeed a true Slytherin. No matter how seemingly innocent his face is. Habits: Hobbies: Likes: Dislikes:

■ History ■ General History: Quillan was born into a normal wizard family. His mother, Eireen Kelly, was a wizard and so was his father, Owen O'Connolly--in fact, both of them went to Hogwarts at the same time. However, since one of them was a Gryffindor and the other a Slytherin, they didn't actually get to know each other until years after graduation, when they were both employed under the Ministry of Magic. Before that, his father, the Gryffindor, was playing Quidditch for the Irish National Quidditch Team as a beater and his mother, the Slytherin, was studying to become an Auror. His father ended up being forced to retire after injuring himself during a game and the Ministry employed him in the Beast Division of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.
Owen O'Connolly switched careers shortly after and began to work towards becoming an Auror. After studying for a year and passing his exams (barely), he interned under Eireen Kelly. They were naturally hostile towards each other, immediately remembering one another from their Hogwarts years. However, they soon found that after dealing with Dark Magic together, they were able to look past their differences.
A few years later, they were married and Quillan was on the way. His mother took a temporary leave from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to raise Quillan while his father worked full time as an Auror. When Quillan was around five, his mother went back to get reinstated at the Auror Office and Quillan found himself frequently visiting some relatives on his father's side.
Quillan's Uncle Patrick was a muggle and so was his son, Drew. They knew about magic though because Patrick married a wizard himself, someone Owen had introduced to him from the Irish National Team. Anyway, when Quillan's mother went back to work, instead of hiring a nanny or a babysitting, Quillan was sent over to his Uncle's. It was there that the boy would realize his affinity towards mischief.
It was bad enough without magic, but when Quillan stumbled upon some of his father's spell books and his spare wand laying around, the possibilities were endless! Drew and he managed to terrorize their neighbors under their parents noses. For instance, a notorious prank of Quillan's was enlarging Pop Rocks to the size of basketballs (a Muggle sport) and throwing them through a Quidditch hoop into the neighbor's pool.
But Drew and he didnt' always get along. In fact, they were constantly at each others neck when they weren't causing mischief. The two boys would bicker, prank, and wrestle with each other. They were two of a kind, really, but Drew wasn't a wizard. So when Quillan turned eleven and got his Hogwarts letter, Drew didn't. Whatever doubt the families had about Drew's involvement with magic was doused in that moment, and sadly enough, the relationship between the two cousins deteriorated rapidly after that.
But Quillan didn't let Drew's behavior bother him too much. And before he knew it, he was heading to the London Station, riding on his own little broom his father had bought him.
