Journal One There was no denying that Lasarra was a halfbreed. Sure, Lasarra had seen others that were more obvious looking about their heritage, but the fact was she had no stones and the bug eyes of an Alkidike. That was all though. For the most part she looked like her father. It seemed that Lasarra was more Shifter then Alkidike. She had no antennas and her skin and eyes shifter colors. Although she was sure her mother wished she looked more like her she never said anything about the matter, and her father was proud that she looked so much like him! It was just hard for her, as much as she loved her mother she secretly wished that she lived with her father and his people. She imagined that the Shifters would be more accepting of her, mostly because she looked like them but then also because of the fact that anyone had to be more welcoming then the Alkidikes to halfbreeds. She wasn't about to sit around and cry about it, but Lasarra didn't have the easiest time living in Andile. When she was younger she was picked on a lost, mostly for her lack on antennas and the fact that without them her senses couldn't possibly be as strong as real Alkidikes. She was told over and over again by her peers that she was inferior to them. Her mother tried to help, and for that Lasarra would always thank her, but she tried to hide as much as she could from her mother. The one time she had came home with a black eye from a fight she was in Abeni had demanded that Lasarra report it to the elders. She knew they didn't really care, but they gave the other girl a lecture just to please Abeni. After all, Lasarra was only a halfbreed. They could care less about her.
Every time that Gituku went to leave Lasarra would cling to his legs, and when her mother wasn't around she would beg him to take her with him. She wanted to meet his people, she was more like them then she would ever be like her so called 'sisters'. Every time he refused her, he told her that her mother needed her to be strong and stay there. That what didn't kill her made her stronger, and sooner or later she would be much stronger then any of them. That she wasn't inferior to anyone and that one day she would do great things. Every time she would let go of his leg, let him get going to his job. Because no matter how much she wanted to leave, he was right. Her mother needed her, and she needed her mother. However that was when she was little, which she wasn't any more. Lasarra was older now and getting older every day. She deserved to know more about the other half of her. She deserved to know more about the Shifters. And if her father wouldn't tell her about them, well she she was just going to have to find out some how herself.
Lasarra sighed as she walked out of her room and into the kitchen where Abeni was already cooking. "When is dad coming back?" she asked curiously. She knew it had been a few days since she had seen him, and for the most part he stayed away for two weeks ago. She saw her mother sigh before turning back to her and Lasarra rolled her eyes. She knew that it bothered her mother sometimes how much she asked after her father and his people. She just wanted her to be like all the others Alkidikes, but she wasn't just like them. She wasn't like them at all. Although she hadn't even told her mother yet she didn't even want to be a blade, she wanted her next stage to be something else. Although she didn't have a problem with fighting, she just didn't feel that becoming an Amazon like her mother was for her. "Sweetie he will be home soon enough. You know that he works very hard to help us provide for us. Why are you asking?" Lasarra sighed and turned away from her mother so she wouldn't see her facial expression. It was the same thing every time, and yet Lasarra couldn't figure out why he was gone so long working and yet didn't bring home all that much money? Her mother took care of them for the most part when they needed something, and Lasarra went out and caught most of their food. It just didn't add up like it should've.
"Nothing mother. I was just wondering so I would know if I needed to get more food on my next hunt." she replied with a fake smile that she was sure her mother could see right through. However, before her mother even had a chance to say anything out Lasarra was out the door. "I'll be home later. Love you mom." said and then was off. She moved as shifty as she could towards the forest and away from her settlement. Although most of the time being around her other sisters wasn't unbearable, she really wasn't up for any kind of taunting or jokes right at that moment.
Lasarra went deep into the forest and climbed up the highest tree that she could find. She wanted to be away from everyone. Away from every Alkidikes, and even though she wasn't around them she wanted to be away from the Shifters. She wasn't one of either of them, she was her own kind of species. She was a halfbreed, a little of both worlds, and that was okay. Lasarra smiled, yes. She was her own species, her own kind of breed, and that made her special. For once the words that her father would tell her as a child rang true. Although she wasn't going to give up trying to learn about Shifters, or what her father was up too, she wasn't going to worry as much as she use to. It didn't matter if she didn't ever learn more about Shifters then she already knew. She knew who she was, and that was all that matteredwords: 1039

So I finally know why my father leaves so much, and where he goes. He had another wife, who is deceased, and has another daughter! At first I was weary of her, but I soon realized we are more alike then most of those that I call sisters. We plan to meet again, and I think I'm going to move in with her. It's about time that I start my own life anyways, and I know I won't be able to go after my dreams if I stay at home with mother.

Journal Two Her whole life sister meant those who were also born from Aisha. Even though she wasn't like them, they were still her sisters. However now sister took upon a new meaning. Although Kelina was not made from Aisha like she was, instead she was born as all Earthlings are from her mother, she was still Lasarra's sister. Right? Lasarra and her mother had spoken about this topic almost daily since Lasarra met Kelina. They were born differently, however both of them had part of their father in them. Where Aisha had made Lasarra in both her parents image, Kelina was made in the earthling fashion of her two parents image. So they both had some of their father. She hadn't dared talk to most of her other sisters, her Alkidike ones, for fear of what they would think. She already didn't like to point out the fact that she wasn't full Alkidike, and she was sure some of them would be offended that she called another her sister. She had gone looking for Bhima one day, she was the only sister that Lasarra trusted with her whole being, but was told that she was out hunting and wouldn't be back for a while.
Lassara sighed as she climbed higher and higher in the tree she had picked to her thinking lately. It was a good large tree, and she also knew that at the top there were delicious fruits and thinking on an empty stomach wasn't good. As she climbed higher and higher she thought about all the things that were about to change for her. She could hear Izsha crying from the bottom of the tree and just rolled her eyes. "You're to big to carry up here anymore! I told you to stop growing. Now stay, I'll be back down soon enough." she called to her pet with a smile. She still remembered catching Izsha with the help of the cute shifter boy. She was full of spitfire and now she was so calm and loving, and she was growing so fast! When she first got her Lasarra would be able to carry her around everywhere, and not the spoiled brat had to stay on the floor when Lasarra went up high.
Izsha was the first animal she had tamed, and Lasarra had quickly attached to her. She hadn't told anything to Kelina yet, and was wondering if maybe she should leave Izsha home with her mother. As much as it pained her to part from the radaku she didn't want to bring more than she needed to her sisters house. Plus than her mother would have company at least. Sure her father was staying around more, now her mother let him in the house, but oddly Izsha looked a lot like herself so maybe her mother wouldn't miss her as much? Well that was all a bridge that she would cross when she got to it. Today was reserved to thinking about her new sister and the new definition of it, not for thinking about Izsha. Every other day was for thinking about her spoiled radaku.
Finally Lasarra reached the fruit and grabbed a few before making her self comfortable in a branch. Throwing two of the fruits down for Izsha she bit into the third. Okay so Kelina was her sister now, but did that mean that Bhima wasn't? Sure she shared no parent with Bhima, but at the same time she did. Like Bhima, Lasarra was born from Aisha and therefor they both had the same real mother. Aisha, but Kelina wasn't born from Aisha. So did that make them siblings still? According to her mother both Bhima and Kelina were her sisters, but that made no sense. From what Lasarra could gather only one of them were her real sister, so which one was it. Was it Bhima who she had grown up with and shared their mother Aisha? Or was it Kelina, who was born the shifter way however had genes from their father. Than there was how she felt around the two of them. She honestly knew the moment she saw Kelina that the two of them were sisters. She didn't want to admit it, because than she would have to admit that her father was a cheater, but she knew it inside of her. But she also knew that Bhima was her sister too, they were connected just as she was connected to all of the other Alkidikes even if they weren't happy about it.
For what seemed like hours Lasarra went back and forth, and every time she had made up her mind to whom was her real sister something happened and she changed it. It sucked that not to long ago she had come to terms with being a halfbreed, hell she had even started to embrace it, but now she was faced with another obstacle, one that she had only because she was a half breed. Well that and a cheating father, she was sure not all the fathers of halfbreeds were cheaters so they didn't all have this problem. Lucky her. Looking around she realized that it was getting dark, and so after she grabbed a few fruit and put them in her bag she started her descent to the forest floor. She was pleased to see that Izsha was sleeping at the base of the tree. Although she was pretty obedient every once in a while she would wander off.
"Good girl, come on Izsha let's get home. Even though I still haven't figured out a solution to my problem at least I have some fruits for mother." she said as she scratched Izsha's head. Perhaps this was something that Lasarra would never figure out, something she would always battle with. Even though she had figured out who she was as a person she still had to figure out how she related to the people around her. For now she would go with her mother's thoughts, that both Kelina and the other Alkidikes were her sisters. It was hard for her to wrap her mind around, after all they were from two different worlds, but she would have to learn. After all she didn't choose this life, but it was still the one she was living.

Journal Three It wasn't long after Lasarra moved into Ast that she claimed some land as her own and created pens and such for animals. Most of it was right under the house that her sister lived in, but there was also a smaller pen a little distance away. Today with Izsha at her side Lasarra was just putting the finishing touches on the pen, mostly making sure it wouldn't break or the animals wouldn't be able to escape. As she walked around she noted that more and more people were walking past their house towards the center of Ast. Lasarra raised one eyebrow but continued working, watching Izsha carefully to make sure that she didn't run off with people walking by. Izsha was pretty well trained, but there was always the chance that she would act up.
After about an hour curiosity finally got the best of Lasarra, plus she was pretty sure that the pen and everything was perfect, and she asked the next family who passed her what was going on. They told her that traders had came to Ast and were selling all sorts of things in the center of the village. Lasarra grew excited, some times traders had animals with them as well and she had some money saved up so if they did have them maybe she could buy one. So far all Lasarra had was Izsha, and she wasn't going to become a famous beast tamer by only taming one animal!
Lasarra went looking for Kelina in their house but quickly realized she wasn't there and left her a note, surely Kelina could just meet her there when she got home. Climbing down the tree she wasn't sure if she should bring Izsha or not. Sure she was fine with people, but she had never really been around animals before. Plus what if she scared the animals? Than again if Lasarra planned on bringing the animals home they would have to get use to Izsha anyway. Might as well start getting them use to her now. "Okay Izsha, stay close and be good." she told her as she put her hand on Izsha's back and started to walk towards the village center.
When she got there Lasarra marveled at all the people that were there. It seemed as if all of Ast had came out to see the traders. Some people gave her odd looks but she was use to that, plus more people were paying attention to the traders than her anyways. As she got closer she realized that they seemed to be from the wind tribe, which made sense because from what she had been told they traveled the most. This was the first time she had ever seen one up close and she was awe struck. For a while Lasarra and Izsha just walked around. Some of the traders were putting on shows for the younglings of the village, where others were trying to sell various items. So far she didn't see any traders with animals, but there were many of them so it was possible she hadn't came across them yet.
Weaving in and out of the crowd a smile broke out on Lasarra's face when she spotted a large caravan that looked more like a cage than anything. As she got closer she could see that the cage held some animals, and a few other ones were tied up outside. As she looked at the animals trying to see which she liked the best a voice came from behind her. "I see you have a beastie of your own with you. She is very beautiful, maybe I touch her?" the male asked. Turning around Lasarra spotted a wind male who she assumed to be the man in charge of all the animals. "Yes, her name is Izsha and she is very friendly. Are you the one who owns this caravan?" she asked holding a hand out. He took it but looked at her strangely, not doubt realizing that she didn't look like most of the others in Ast. However he didn't say anything and after shaking her hand went to inspect Izsha who sat at Lasarras side the whole time. Only after inspecting Izsha did he answer Lasarra's question.
"Yes these are mine to sell, and since it is obvious that you have taken care of your beastie I am willing to sell them to you. Today I have a friendly female Capramel, good for her milk and with a calm temperament. I also have Moracker that I haven't had very long. Like most of her kind she is very skittish, though I'm sure more time around people will change that. Other than that I have a Poscuta who is only a few months old and already very well trained along with two Sail Scales that also well trained. A Aldabuk that is much of a diva, it seems that she prefers the females of our group. Last but not least I have a rather young Scorra I've only just acquired myself so I can't tell you much about him. If you have any questions or want to buy them come tell me, otherwise you are free to inspect them as you please." and with that he walked away to talk to another trader. Lasarra stood stunned, both by the fact that he didn't seem to take even a breath while talking and also because he was okay with her inspecting his animals. Well she might as well take advantage of the opportunity, she thought, as she moved to get a closer look at the animals.
From the start she wasn't really interested in the Poscuta or the Sail Scales. From what he said they were already well trained, so there was no point in buying them to train. Out of all the ones he named the Aldabuk, the Moracker and the Scorra were the three that stood out the most to her. She had never seen them before and they all seemed to be a challenge. After bartering with the wind man for a little they agreed on a price and she took them one by one back to her house, cursing the fact that she lived so far away from everyone else.
That night when she laid in bed she had a smile on her face that just wouldn't go away. Tomorrow was a new day, and although she had bought not caught the three new additions to her life she had a feeling they wouldn't be much easier than Izsha was.

So the whole tournament thing was to prepare us for war? I really don't like the sound of that if I'm being honest. I know Kelina will want to fight, and Bhima as well. I don't know what I would do if I lost either of them... However on the bright side I sold a few companions and I feel like I'm starting to get my name out there as a respectable beast tamer. I also had Rayolun and Kelina meet, and we invited him to come to our house. Kelina and I also got a little fish to bring him, though I'll doubt I'll be taming this beast! All in all, except for the war threat, it was fun.

My first battle was a disaster! It was against Yaholo, so I kinda knew I was going to lose from the start, but at the same time I had hoped that I would have put up at least more of a fight than I did. Well at least I tried, and at least it was a sister that I lost to. Even if said sister is a male halfbreed.

After going hunting with my sister one day I injured my right leg which resulted in me being stick in the house for three weeks! Finally I couldn't take it anymore and made Kelina help me down. It was a tense time for us, and I think my sister blames herself, but in the end I think we got over it. I think.

Journal Four She stared into the fire in awe, thinking about the beasts she had helped take down that day. The war wasn't over, and bad things were still happening, but those animals. She could only imagine having them, training them. Not for war, but to do other things. She dozed off, tired from the work she had done all day. Maybe she would see more of the beasts soon, and maybe they would be under her rule and not the Oban's.
---- War was over, and although it had gone in the way that she was fighting it had not gone well for her. While her and Izsha had been chasing down a few stray Oban's who were still causing trouble they had been captured. Using Izsha against her it didn't take long for her to surrender, and then she was chained up like a wild beast. They pulled her along with them back to Oba, and for a while she felt hopeless.
She was so use to sleeping with a warm body next to hers that Lasarra had trouble sleeping at first. They wouldn't let her close to Izsha or any of the other animals, nor would they let her near the fire. It was horrible. However the day time was much worse. During that time she was always worried about her family. Had her sister made it out of the war, or the man she was in love with? What about the man she was in love with, Ray, where was he and was he okay? She worried about the creatures that she had left behind and as time went by she wondered if they were even still alive. She also wondered if people were looking for her. Sometimes she would hear the voice of those that she loved, but it was always only for a second.
---- Months had passed by, and she was sure that she was done for. She wouldn't make it much longer, her spirit was broken and she was ready to die. They didn't feed her enough and when she was able to sleep it wasn't good. She was exhausted. Plus she was pretty sure that if anyone had been looking for her when she was first missing they would have stopped by now. Even Izsha wasn't herself anymore, the animal rarely did anything but lay around and walk when she had to. The two of them weren't meant to be captive, weren't meant to be treated as they were. She was planning on one last go, one last escape attempt. She knew it wouldn't work, it never worked, but part of her hoped that they would find her more trouble then she was worth this time and kill her. Let her leave this world and travel to the next, where she would wait for those that she loved and that loved her. Yes, it was time for her.
"I'm sorry..." she whispered to no one in particular, "I'm sorry but I can't do this anymore..." Word count : 502 / 502

Journal Five Rayolun had saved her, and now she was done. Done thinking about all sorts of things. Done with everything. The war was something that she didn't like to remember. Sure here were great things, but there were many more horrible ones. She was happy to see the great beast and the new ones that came with the new lands, but everything else was just plane horrible. The fighting, the death, it was all horrible. And then all that happened after, from when she was kidnapped and dragged along like some sort of creature... No the thought of it all was too much for her to bear. Maybe one day she would be able to think about it all, but not yet.
Now she was safe though, and on the way back to her home with her soon to be husband at her side. Not only was that something good, but there was also the fact that she now had a snaptrotter and a sprite to show for her little expedition. She had to think positive, and really those were the only things that had come from being in Oban. The trip to the marketplace had been pretty bad, but she considered it worth it. After thinking long and hard she had decided to name the snaptrotter Achran and the sprite Pounce, since it was always jumping on one of them. At first she had tried treating the sprite as she would any other animal, but soon realized that it was pointless. It had a different mind and did whatever it felt like. She was good, but not that good. Not yet at least. She was pretty sure it understood the commands that she gave, but that didn't mean that it actually did as she asked.
Achran on the other hand was being trained quite nicely. He already knew his basic commands and carried a bag full of stuff for them. It was hard to train him while they traveled, but she hadn't trained any animal in so long that she couldn't wait. She was worried at first that she had forgotten how to do it, but it came back to her as soon as she tried. Training was a part of her, and she didn't know what she would do without it. Hopefully after the marriage she would be able to get a few creatures once again and start selling them. It would help them make money, and then maybe a child would happen? That way she would be able to spend all the time in the world with their little one for a while, not having to worry about making money and helping support them. Not that she thought that Ray couldn't do that on his own. It just felt better being able to help out.
With a smile she realized that her thoughts of war had left her head and that she was feeling much better. Nothing like thinking about the future to make her forget the horrible past.
