So she was doing it. Lasarra was going to move out with her sister in Ast. She had already started packing her things, little by little, but her father had just told her mother what had happened and Lasarra didn't want to be in the house. It seemed like Abeni was going to kill Gituku, not that Lasarra would blame him. After all this she was pretty confident that she wasn't going to fall in love. After all how could she trust someone again with her heart? The only people she could trust was her mother, and her best friend Bhima. Sure Bhima wasn't the softhearted girl she was when the two of them were younger, but she was still Lasarra's best friend and she trusted her with everything she had. And then there was Kelina. Was she one that Lasarra would trust? Only time would really tell.
That night she would tell her mother that she was going to stay in Ast for a while with her half sister. She knew her mother wouldn't be happy about it, but hopefully she would understand. Walking through the forest she touched every tree she passed by, almost as if she was promising them all that she would be back to see them.

Yaholo was heading back to Yera from Andile after spending quite a number of days with his mother and younger sister. He had been granted the title of Guard by Yansa a few days prior and was more than overjoyed about all the good vibes he had been receiving. His mother was proud, his baby sister was beyond excited, and he was certain that he had finally found his place in the world. It was a liberating feeling, to say the least.
As he wandered down the path, his coveted hammer strapped to his back, he noticed a young woman not too far ahead of him. She looked odd, but not quite alarming, although she was acting a little odd. Why was she stopping at ever tree like that? Was she lost or something?
"Can I help you?" He asked, moving to approach her.

When Yaholo spoke up Lasarra almost jumped out of her skin. She hadn't known that anyone else was around! "Oh I'm sorry!" she said taking her hand off the tree she had been talking to. Oh how odd she had to seem to him. Then she really got a look at him. He was like her! A halfbreed. This was a nice surprise.
"I will be moving soon. So I was saying bye to the trees." she said with a half smile. She knew it seemed odd, however whatever he thought she was doing couldn't be any less crazy. "My names Lasarra. I didn't know there was another halfbreed living here?" she said curiously. He couldn't be from around there, she would have noticed him, however he did look a little more like their sisters then she did. But he was a he, that was obvious. She wondered which of them had it worse among their sisters.

"Ah, I didn't mean to startle you!" Yaholo squeaked, rubbing the back of his head with a nervous chuckle. Wow, he was really smooth with the ladies, wasn't he? Perhaps he should try not scaring everyone he greeted like that poor guy he terrified back when he was a Prentice? Poor Shifter thought he wanted to kill him! He nodded as she explained what she had been doing, and smiled. Oh, that made perfect sense. He'd be saying goodbye to all the floral and fauna, too, if he were leaving for a long while. It was a symbolic thing, nothing weird about it at all.
"Nice to meet you, Lasarra! I'm Yaholo." He replied, then shaking his head. "I live in Tale, for the time being at least. I come through here when I'm traveling to Andile from Tale and vice versa. It's a long walk, but it's worth it." He shifted his stance, his hammer often brought strain to his back, no matter how cool it looked. "Anyway, you look like a Shifter to me. You're really a half-breed, too?"

Lassara smiled. She had figured that he didn't meant to startle her. He also didn't seem to be judging her for what she said. That was always a good sign. When he introduced himself she smiled, yes she hadn't heard that name before, and when he explained that he lived in Tale things made a little more sense. There was no way she wouldn't have met him before if he lived in the same settlement as she did.
She noticed the hammer on his back. Wow! Not only was he a halfbreed like her, but it seems he didn't take the same route as most Alkidike. When he asked if she was a half-breed and said she looked like a Shifter she frowned briefly. Even another half-breed like herself couldn't see her for who she was. "Yes, my father is a Shifter however my mother is an Alkidike. I'm guessing your part...." she paused for a second, "Leaf?" she guessed hoping she was right. She hadn't met many other members of other tribes, but she had heard stories.

Ah, so she was part Alkidike! How interesting! Yaholo studied her for a moment as she spoke and smiled when he noticed that her eyes were black, which was very atypical for a shifter to have. How could he not have notice them before? How rude of him!
"My father is of the Leaf tribe, you go it!" He chirped, chuckling. "Oh, and, if you don't mind me asking, how do you feel about being part Shifter and part Alkidike? I've heard that they aren't exactly..." He paused, searching for the proper word. "Friendly...?"

She smiled, clapping her hands together happily when he told her that he was indeed leaf. Oh this was amazing! This was her first encounter with someone of the leaf tribe. When he asked her how she felt about her heritage, and that he knew there was some issues between the two races she nodded. She would not want to bad talk her sisters to anyone, but technically he was a sister as well. So it didn't count. Really?
"Well being a halfling was tough, and I would imagine it is so for all of our kind. It was hard also not looking like our sisters." she pointed to where her antenna would be if she had them. "But other then that it was okay, I was discriminated more for being a halfling then a shifter halfling really. And the two shifters I've met other then my father have been kind to me so far." she said with a shrug.
"If you don't mind me asking, which parent were you raised with?' It was possible she just never met him because his mother kept him away from others, or he just lived in another settlement. But she was also curious because of his choice of weapon. It was odd for a sister to have a different weapon, even if said sister was a halfling male.

Yaholo nodded along as Lasarra spoke. He completely understood the level of discrimination that a halfling could endure. While he hadn't experienced nearly the worst of what could have been dealt, considering the stories of all other halflings he's met during his lifetime, he was never truly exempt from the contempt and judgment from the eyes and hands of those around him. Everyone had their own story and his story just happened to be blessed with an excellent father who loved him no matter the cost.
"I was raised by my father in Tale." He replied, grinning. "My mother was injured by a wild animal before she could come and claim me on the Isles. I actually went home with the wrong settlement and got lost a year or two later..." He paused, his thoughts drifting towards those years of neglect he had gone through, but managed to shake himself free. "Which of your parents did you grow up with?"

She nodded. That made more sense. Part of her wished that she was raised with her father's people, so that she could have more freedom to choose her path. But at the same time she loved her mother dearly, and even if it hadn't been expressed by sisters her mother had told her that she didn't mind what path she choose. Now that she was moving to Ast possibilities would open for her that she never had before. Or so she hoped.
"I'm sorry for your mother and you. Is she well now?" she worried that she had asked too much. If his mother was dead then she would have brought upon a topic that he might not want to talk about. When he asked about her parents she was happy for the topic change, just in case his answer to her question wasn't pleasant.
"Well I grew up here in Andile with my mother, but my father came and visited us from time to time. So in a way I kind of had both. I just found out he wasn't here often because he had a shifter family in Ast. My half sister is who I will be moving in with, which is why I was saying bye to the trees." she explained.

"My mother's still kicking, despite missing one of her legs!" He laughed. His mother was an amazing woman, going through such a vicious attack which cost her her left leg and the chance to pick up her son and stay with his father in Tale, and then being thrown into quarantine by an unexplained illness while her twin sister watched her babies grow. Yeah, his mom was more than just a trooper. She was a freaking powerhouse, someone to respect! That, and she was an adorable comedian, which made her just that much more amazing.
Ah, so her dad had fallen for two women? The thought of having two lovers and having to keep them a secret from one another was mind boggling to Yaholo. How the hell did he keep it up for so long? He blinked, thinking about how his own family was beginning to shift, and briefly pondered if his father would do the same thing! He shook his mind free from the thought as quickly as it entered. His father was a good man, he wouldn't leave Walvia... Would he?
"Oh! That's awesome!" He exclaimed. "I have two half sisters of my own, both of which are younger than I am. Pahana lives in Tale with my father and step-mother, while Tahigwa lives in Andile with my mother. Having a blended family is a challenge, but it can be fun!" He paused, pondering, before continuing. "Hey, I've been to Ast recently, your sister wouldn't be Kelina, would she?"

She smiled. Oh that was good, she had hoped that his mother was okay so this wouldn't be all that awkward. "Well that is wonderful, some women don't let anything get them down." she said with a smile. She wondered briefly what her own mother would have done in a similar situation. She was sure that like Yaholo's mother her mother would have came out strong in the end. Their people were made of tough stuff.
She smiled, wondering if it was that common for halflings to have half sisters. How many times did one of their parents go back to their own kind and find a mate that was considered more suitable for them. She would make it a point to ask from now on, for it was a good question.
"Yes, so far I've yet to see the challenge but I know down the road it will be. For now I'm just so happy to have a half sister." she said with a nod. "Yes! Kelina is my sister, do we look alike." she teased with a laugh. It seemed that Kelina was pretty popular! Or at least more so than Lasarra was.
