Really? She lost him! Again! It seemed that somehow every time she followed her father just when she thought she was going to find where he was going he would just disappear! It really wasn't fair! Lasarra sat down on a stump and crossed her arms as she looked into the distance. Ever since she was a child she wanted to know where her father went when he wasn't with her and her mother. He said he was off doing work, but why couldn't he work from home? And why could he never stay for long? Surely family was more important then work?
Kicking a rock Lasarra sighed. Well now she was out here in the forest with nothing to do for the day. She told her mother she wouldn't be back till later, and she didn't want to go home just yet. It was then she had an idea! Maybe someone around her could tell her where her father went! At once Lasarra jumped up and started looking around. She knew there was a settlement somewhere close by, she just didn't know where.

Rayolun was out in the jungles around a small settlement watching the mechanics of the villagers. It always amazed him how people could live so squished together and so nosily. Give him the open space and quiet sounds of the any day! Snorting bemusedly at the villagers and their way of life, Ray turned and silently ran along the thick branch till it ran out and hopped from tree to vine to another tree. Moving fast and quietly to avoid disturbing the jungle.
As he was moving, he spotted what looked to be a shifter female passing along the ground below him. She looked a little upset to his eyes, though he wasn't an expert on people so it could be he was wrong.
He dropped down to a branch nearer her. Should he try to talk? She was rather pretty and it had been sometime since he'd met someone....

Lasarra could feel it. There was someone there, someone closer then the villagers. "I know your there..." she said quietly as she looked around. She didn't have anything to protect herself, but then again she also could scream for help if she really needed it. Plus she always thought that she could do pretty well in a hand to hand fight.
She looked up and around. Why couldn't she see who was there? Maybe she was going crazy. With a shrug she turned around to head home. She would just continue this little adventure some other day. She would catch her father sooner or later. Grabbing a low branch Lasarra pulled herself up into the closet tree and started to climb. She started to head home, stopping only to look back at where she assumed someone was. Either she was going crazy or they were hidden very well.

Rayouln was going to revel himself when he heard the girl's words. He grinned, and the urge to tease her was just too much to resit! So he stayed hidden and began to follow her. He almost laughed out loud when he saw her keep looking around for him. So she knew he was here, just not where? This was entertaining, but how would she react to him suddenly appearing?
He quickly and quietly began to outpace her until he ended up in front of her. He waited until she looked behind her before stepping out into the open with a small grin on his face. Crouched in the flickering shadows he waited to see her reaction once her eyes returned to in front of her,

Lasarra shook her head. There was no one there. Turning around she almost feel at seeing Rayouln. If she hadn't been so good in the trees there was a very big chance she could have fallen to her death! Well okay, she wasn't high enough to die but it would have hurt a lot! "Are you following me!" she said to the shifter with a cross expression on her face.
But then she realized that was what she had been doing, following her father and staying just far enough away that he couldn't see her although he did look back as if he knew someone was there. It was if her trick was being played on her. She smiled faintly. So this was a dose of her own medicine. She couldn't be that mad then.
"I could have fallen." she said to the boy as she looked him over. He was a shifter all right. She also liked the stones on his nose. They were unique, the few shifters that she had seen before never had them there. Then again she hadn't seen many shifters. Maybe it was common.

Rayolun, now that he'd had a good look at this girl, realized she was yet another Alkidke and Shifter mix. Guess my Uncle was wrong when he said that Alkidikes and Shifters didn't get along too well.. if there's mixes then there's not as much bad feelings. He grinned at her expression and exclamations. "Following you?" He looked around innocently, "I seem to be in front so how could I follow you?" He asked with eyes wide in false innocence.
"Oh I doubt you'd have fallen. Those who live in the trees and move as confidently as you do wouldn't fall." He winked at her, of course, if she'd fallen, he would have felt more guilty about startling her, but since she hadn't? No harm done!

Lasarra smiled. He had a point. He was ahead of her, therefor there was no way that she could accuse him of following her. He was smarter then she first gave him credit for. But then again, he was hiding from her in plain sight so of course he had to be pretty smart. "This is true, then it must be that I am following you." she said with a shrug and a smile.
Ah, moved confidently. And a wink? He was smart and smooth. And he didn't seem to care that she was a halfbreed. That was nice. "Ah you got me there. It would take more then me running into the person I had been following to make me fall out of a tree." she said with a wink back towards him. This was new, and funny.

So she had a sense of humor, that was nice! He chuckled and walked over to her, "I'm Rayolun, and yes I was following you, though only for a bit."
He held out his hand to shake, "I was just passing by and saw you looked a little down. To me that is, but I'm not the best at judging others emotions..." Well, that sounds weird, he thought to himself. But what else should I say? Really need to talk to more people... I just can't carry a conversation...

Lasarra smiled at his laughter and climbed down the tree to meet him. She took his heand. "I'm Lasarra." she offered happily. It was always nice to meet someone who was funny and didn't want to kill her.
As he continued to speak she wondered if he was the type of guy to go off and ramble without knowing exactly how to stop. "Well you can't be all that bad. I was a little down. I had been following my father but I lost track of him." she said with a shrug. It didn't matter so much now that she had someone else to talk to.

Rayolun was interested at the comment, following her father? Why would she do that? Did she want to be taught how to hunt by her father and he'd said no? Or something else? Rayolun didn't know what, the only thing he'd learned from his Uncle was how to live in the jungle alone, to hunt, to sneak about unseen. He didn't know what else a father would teach you. Well, if she wanted to follow someone, Ray knew how to track and could help!
He gave her a smile, "I know quite a bit about hunting. Perhaps I could help you track your father down?"

Lasarra shook her head. "No that's fine. I'll just follow him some other time. However there is something else you could help me with if you aren't busy..." she said slowly with a smile. She had always wanted to know more about the shifters, and well here was a shifter right here! Why did she need to ask her father questions when she could just ask Rayolun.
"I don't know much about shifters, or earthlings really. Maybe you could teach me?" she asked curiously with a wide grin. Maybe if she seemed like a helpless girl then he would have to help her. Wasn't that how things worked?

Rayolun was feeling several feelings: exhilarated, ye! She wants to talk with me. Anxious.. I have to talk.. what do I talk about?! And... happy, that he could be of help to a pretty lady like her. Though how was he supposed to tell her about shifters? He barely knew any shifters other than his uncle and the few other hunters he ran into! He ran his hand threw his hair and sighed.
"Umm, well... I actually don't know too much myself. I've lived most my life alone or with my uncle. I can tell you some of the ancient tales of our people he's told me.. if you want?" Is that what she wanted to know? Or was it something else? He certainly wanted to be of use and keep talking with her, but what if he couldn't answer her questions?

Lived with his uncle and alone? Well that was odd. She wondered if that was how all shifters lived? For some reason she didn't think that was the case, after all he said he didn't know too much about shifters so it had to be something odd. To each their own.
"Well no matter how much you know, it's more then I know." she said with a laugh. When he told her he knew ancient tales her eyes got a little wider. "I'd love that! My father has never told me any." she said excitedly. She was like a child with a new toy. She wondered about the stories, or even if they had Gods. She knew that Aisha was the one true Goddess, after all it was Aisha who had given her life, but still it would be nice to know about what Shifters thought about Gods and Goddesses.

"Ah, guess your father doesn't talk about his people? Hmm, villagers can be so strange...." Ray shook his head, weirdness. Even his taciturn uncle took the time to tell him the history and legends of the Shifters! He thought for a minute and decided to tell his favorite one, the Sun-holders story, how fire came to the Shifters. He sat down on a branch and looked out over the jungle. "Well, here's my favorite. It's how we came to have fire. We shifters have always lived in the canopy of the jungle. Our nights were rarely dark and terrifying, but in the villages they began to miss the light of the sun. They wished they could have both moon and sun, silver and gold, black and white. But they could not. Even back then, they warred with the Alkidike women, who called the beasts of the jungle to hassle them. One night, the trees were lit by a great, glowing figure: a great lizard of orange and crystalline light, that flew about on wings of red crystal. It charged into a shifters camp and or people fought valiantly to fend it off, losing many but eventually defeating it. In it's wrath, the creature roared and became an incarnation of it's fiery determination and primal fury. It burst into flame and became a brilliant, pulsing crystal of light and heat, setting the trees on fire. A young, clever prentice took the crystal heart and held it to her chest. Suddenly she knew that it was a piece of the sun itself, it's fire, it's light, it's love and its fury. She brought it with her down beneath the canopy to the dark jungle floor when she wished to explore, and its light banished the hungry darkness. One day, however, a mischievous Radaku stole it from her and she wept for she was fond of the item and it had helped her so much. But it had whispered its secrets into her mind when she had held it, and she realized she knew how to bring the sun into the night of Jahuar. She returned to her village with this knowledge and was then known as Sun-holder, the teacher of fire. " He let the story end and smiled at Lasarra. Would she like it?
ooc: I changed it a bit, not much though XD.

When Rayolun sat down on a branch she hurried over and sat near him, eager to hear the story.
As he told the story her face was in awe for the most part. She wasn't happy about the war part, but that much was true. She was happy that even in Shifter tales the Alkidike's were closer to the beasts of the jungle then the Earthlings. She was proud of who she was.
When he spoke of the great glowing figure she could picture it in her head. A gigantic beast. She began to think of what kind of sister would have called upon such a creature! A powerful mystic most likely. As the story continued she was also pleased that the prentice that was the Sun-holder was a female. Yet another thing that the Alkidike stories had in common, then again in the Alkidike stories just about everyone was a female. Only occasionally were male earthlings even mentioned in them.
"Wow, how interesting. How fantastical would it have been to lived in times where giant flame lizards flew around and things such as fire was created." she could imagine being in stories, especially hearing about this beast she wanted to know more about. She would have to ask her mother if there were any Alkidike stories about it.
