It had been quite some time since the boisterous years of chilhood, but Bhima could not forget Lasarra. Although they had grown into young women and begun to forge their own paths, Lasarra had been a constant in the Alkidike's life and a welcome relief from anger and formality. Even now they made it a point to get together, but recently the Shiftadike had disappeared without a proper warning. It wasn't that Bhima was worried, of course, but she was curious. Perhaps they had simply grown apart and Lasarra had moved on? Bhima didn't agree, but wouldn't have been entirely surprised.
She sat now in a patch of sunlight beside a large crystal growth, shaping beads for sale during the next market trip. She wasn't expecting anyone nor, to her knowledge, was anyone expecting her. The girl simply squinted at the passers-by and watched nature exist all around the settlement. She shifted her cross-legged position and gave her back and audible cracking.
Today wasn't a bad day at all, although it was nearly impossible to tell from Bhima's expression, which remained as apparently upset as ever.

Kelina walked through the forest, not jumping from tree to tree for once. She was meeting Lasarra again today and had told her sister that she would meet her just outside of the village. Kel was almost there when she saw some movement out of the corner of her eye. Then, she realized it was an Alkidike sitting down carving something. Figuring she was close enough to the village, she approached the woman. She cleared her throat as to not startle the woman and make more trouble for herself. "What are you making?" She asked curiously.

Lasarra was almost done packing all her stuff. She even had some of it over in Ast at Kelina's house already. She was so excited, and every day her mother got more and more use to the fact that she would be leaving soon. Lasarra had said bye to just about everyone she knew, that was everyone besides her best friend. It wasn't that she hadn't seen Bhima, it was that she was pretty much avoiding her. Other then her mother Bhima was the one person who she didn't want to leave. Bhima had been her best friend since they were younglings, and she was one of the few people that knew Bhima for who she really was. For who she was before she turned cold, well cold to others, she was never cold towards Lasarra.
She had told Kelina she would meet her outside the village, but when she got there she didn't see Kelina. She didn't think that Kelina would have stood her up, and a second after that thought she heard Kelina's voice. She wheeled around and headed in that direction. Not all Alkidike were friendly with shifters, and she didn't want to lose her sister when she just found her!
Thankfully, and not thankfully, it was Bhima who Kelina had approached. "Kelina I see you have found my best friend, Bhima this is my sister." she said hoping that Bhima wouldn't mind the shifter interrupting her work.

Bhima looked up sharply, brows furrowing into distaste at the appearance of... a Shifter? She paused, stone needle poised halfway through a crystal bead. Who did this girl think she was, especially in an Alkidike settlement?! Bhima did not shift, she did not stand, and she gave no appearance that she would respond. Really, most Alkidike were not likely to respond to a foreign stranger, but this girl was lucky that she had found this particular scrapper. Racism wasn't a reason for annoyance. She just didn't like anyone.
The girl's face abruptly loosened, though, when her attention was drawn toward another approaching figure. Lasarra! Bhima rose with a laugh, abandoning her work to throw her arms around her friend and kiss her cheek.
"There you are! Where've you been?!" she asked excitedly, and then turned to face the Shifter that had first approached, "... and since when have you had a sister?!"

Knowing how most Alkidikes were, Kelina wasn't offended that the one she had found ignored her. She supposed she should be lucky the other didn't respond violently. Right when she was about ready to leave was when she heard a familiar voice behind her. Apparently, this alkidike knew her as well as she stood and strode over to Lasarra giving her a kiss on the cheek as she wrapped her arms around her. Kel supposed this must be one of her 'sisters' that she actually got along with. Bhima was the other's name. Figuring she should at least be polite to her sister's friend, "I'm Kelina, its nice to meet you. I really didn't mean to interrupt you.." She apologized. Her eyes shifting back and forth between her sister and Bhima.

Lasarra smiled and hugged her friend tightly before returning the kiss. Bhima wasn't just a sister, or just someone who lived in the same settlement as her, they shared a bond stronger then that. Ever since the day that Bhima stood up for her they had a bond that she hadn't had with anyone, nor did she ever think she would have with anyone else. She would miss Bhima, but she knew the two would keep in touch. Plus she would be coming back to see her mom as well. Seeing Bhima when she was back home was also very important to her.
"Well I've been packing, and spending some time in Ast with my new sister." she answered her friend. "Kelina, this is my very very best friend Bhima. Remember I told you about another youngling that stood up for me and we had been friends ever since? Well this is her." she said proudly with one arm still around Bhima. "And don't worry about it, she doesn't like anyone." she teased when Kelina apologized for interrupting Bhima.
"Well remember my father who you've only seen once or twice? Well remember how he was always coming and going, well turns out he had another family is Ast! Kelina is his other daughter, her mother had her around the same time mine did." she said nodding. "I told you there was something up with him, didn't I!" she explained to Bhima.

Packing? Lasarra was... packing? So there was something more to this after all. Would she be leaving to go to Ast permanently? While Bhima didn't like the sound of that, she understood the desire to go somewhere with less prejudices. After all, she had met that man in the woods who had told her that Ast was much more accepting of Shifter mixes. Still, that would be pretty upsetting... ah, later. For now, she was here and within reach. Bhima laughed slightly at the tease and shrugged.
"I guess that's true," she nodded and leaned over on one leg, giving Lasarra a one-armed squeeze before balancing again. "Huh! Imagine that. I'd say I was sorry, but I don't imagine this is a totally negative experience... you did, you did. Looks like you were right. Now, I'm sorry for being... uh. I'm sorry for being bitchy, Kelina. it's in my nature." She rocked forward again releasing Lasarra to offer a hand out to her sister. She was lucky she had accidentally found a family friend. Very lucky. "In the future, you may want to stick with a friendly Alkidike when you visit. Our sisters are, uh... less accepting of other races, generally."

"Got it. It's no problem, it's really completely understandable." Kelina said with a nervous laugh as she shook the Alkidike's hand. "I do remember you telling me about that, Lasarra. It's nice to meet Lasarras best friend, and of course, you're welcome to visit any time." She thought it would be nice if she went ahead and put out a friendly invitation to her sister's best friend. Knowing that Lasarra would want to travel back and forth to see her best friend and mother, Kel figured it would be nice to offer time for Bhima to visit if she'd like. After shaking the other's hand, she clasped them in front of her. Her face was still pleasant even though she was fairly nervous and awkward feeling.

She was so happy right then and there. If only she could take this moment in time and make it last forever. She wondered how amusing it might before Kelina, or shocking, to have met Bhima before Lasarra came up and seen the difference now that she was there. Bhima really was a good person, and an even better friend, it just took the right setting to bring it out of her.
"Yes, at first I was pretty mad at him. But I got Kelina out of the deal, so I'm not unhappy. You should have seen my mother though." she said giving Bhima a raised eyebrow. Her mother was not happy with her father for two timing her, or for leaving Kelina to fend for herself mostly after her mother died. It was amusing for Lasarra, but not for her father she guessed.
When Kelina offered for Bhima to come see them at her house she nodded. "Once everything is nice you have to come over. And maybe one day soon we can all have a dinner at my mother's house?" she suggested to the two of them. She knew that her mother was eager to meet Kelina. She harbored her no ill feelings, if anything she felt bad for Kelina as she did for Lasarra.

Bhima gave a happy smirk and nodded, glad for the invitation. While it wrenched her heart to know that Lasarra was leaving, she found some comfort in the fact that she was allowed to visit. Judging from the strange guy's explanation of Ast, though, she wasn't sure others would be as willing to welcome a full-blood into the settlement.
"Well, thanks for that," the Alkidike nodded, and then laughed at Lasarra's wordless definition of her mother's displeasure, "I'll be sure to stop by. It'll be nice to get out of Andile every now and again. I'm always up for dinner as well. Make sure you come by my place and say goodbye to Mama Chike before you leave, though! I don't want to have to hear her whine until you visit again, she's rather fond of you, 'Sarra."

With this meeting, Kelina wondered if she was being a bit selfish by taking Lasarra to Ast. Sure she had a choice, but with meeting Bhima, it made her wonder just how much Lasarra was leaving behind. Her mother, her best friend, her best friend's mother, and who knows what else. Kelina couldn't help but feel a tad bit guilty by this. Her nerves and general uncomfortable feeling could be noticed in the way her hands fiddled in front of her. She felt like she was intruding on a very personal moment between the best friends.

Lasarra nodded. She would of course go by Bhima's and say good bye to her mother. Bhima's mother had always been good to her, and was also a good friend of her mothers. According to her mom Bhima's mother always knew there was something off about her father. Seems like she had been right all along.
Looking over at her sister she noticed that she was fidgeting. Oh no, they were excluding her. No she had to make her feel welcomed. "Bhima maybe we can show her around, either the more friendly places of our little community or the forest around it? I haven't really shown her around a lot, and I know with the two of us she would be fine." she suggested. That was something the three of them could do.

Bhima nodded in agreement. They may still get some strange looks, walking a Shifter around, but at least she would be safe.
"We could go to the market? A forest walk is nice too, it's all dependent upon your comfort level, Kelina. Nobody'll hurt you, but it may be a little awkward to walk around a full-blood." She paused then and canted her head slightly.
"Or apparently a full-blood."

"My mother was a shifter as well." Kelina said, confirming Bhima's thoughts. She believed that her sister wouldn't let anything happen to her, and how often would she get to look inside an Alkidike city? "I believe the two of you. And if you two are comfortable escorting around a full-blood shifter through your market, I would be honored to see it."
Kelina knew she would probably get strange looks, but it's not like it wasn't something her sister had dealt with her entire life. Kelina thought she could deal with a stroll through a market. "So, Bhima, when I had approached you earlier, which I am still sorry about, you were making beads. Are those for your personal use or do you sell them?" It wouldn't hurt trying to make conversation...would it?

Lasarra nodded, one half breed in their family was enough. Though it would have been easier on the eyes if Kelina was some part Alkidike. Things would have been very different, but Lasarra was happy the way things were.
When both Bhima and Kelina agreed Lasarra smiled. "Yes it's fine, like Bhima said people might be a little stunned or awkward at first but it will be fine." she was excited that before she entered her sisters world of shifters she would be able to show Kelina the world of Alkidikes.
