SOLO Eidel had come into being and within moments of awakening she was essentially poking at things and asking questions. Lots of questions. How. Why. Where. What.
All of these things came out of her mouth in endless streams.
It drove them all crazy but thankfully Dexter had arrived when called and agreed to take her on. Eidel had taken to him immediately. She hugged his arm, told him how pretty he was, and how glad she was that he was going to take care of her. Everything was gathered and taken with them to their apartment for now.
Now it was just the two of them and Eidel was sitting on the couch staring at Dexter expectantly as he stood there awkwardly.
"Uhh...Right. Ground rules. You are... um.. old enough to wander around I think," he sort of pursed his lips as he tugged at his chin as if to pull at an imaginary beard. "Be back by ten in the evening and um don't talk to bad guys."
Eidel raised her hand.
Dexter tilted his head, indicating that she should go on with what was on her mind.
"What do bad guys look like?" She asked curiously.
He faltered at that for a moment as he tried to figure out what to tell her. Dexter wasn't sure if she had the capabilities to tell a bad person from a good one, "Just watch people around you. If you see someone treating someone else badly then they are probably bad or if they make you feel uneasy...I am not sure how good of a judge of people you are but...Try to keep that in mind."
The teen took a deep breath and whispered a soft 'oooh'.
So far everything gave her a wonderful feeling!
Dexter teetered from his heel to his toes thoughtfully, "I am not a great cook but I will try to make ya breakfast. Dinner I guess is around five..."
She raised her hand again.
"...Yes Eidel?"
Eidel sheepishly squeaked out, "How do you know what time it is?"
The young man froze a moment, "We'll.. get back to that. Umm... I run a pet shop and if you want to help out there I will pay you a wage but it is totally up to you."
She nodded, her eyes widening a bit. That sounded exciting!
When she didn't object he went on with the little explanation of how things will go, "Check with me before you bring strangers in and you can decorate your room however you kinda want. I don't really care and...Other than that if you want to know if something is okay or not just ask. I am always open to talk it over with you."
Eidel let out a small happy keening sound as she reached up at him making grasping fingers, "Now teach me the magic of time telling!"
Dexter sighed deeply as he moved to sit next to her, taking off his watch from his wrist and began to go over how to tell time.

SOLO Eidel had been trying to think of a way to approach the subject of 'adopting' Molly into their little family unit. Today she ate her breakfast of semi-burnt toast and slightly over cooked eggs as she stared across the table at Dexter who was currently reading a comic. Not so subtly she got up and noisily scooted closer to the ginger haired man, totally abandoning her breakfast for now. Then slowly she rested her head on his shoulder.
The older man paused his reading and gazed over at the teen with a raised eyebrow, "...Did you murder someone?"
The starry skinned girl jerked sitting up right and gasped, "What?! NO. I DID NOT. I JUST WANTED TO KNOW SOMETHING THAT'S ALL."
He sort of blinked at her reaction and set down the comic book, "Then you should just ask it, what's with all this cuddly business?"
Eidel quietly touched fingertips together and squirmed a bit, "It is just...I met a girl the other day and she has no Dexter-man and I do. I also wanted a Sister and she'd be a neat Sister! She's very nice. She helped me count money! Her name is Molly." At this point she was breathless and needed to take a few gasps of air in before she could continue.
"Molly? I think I remember her briefly. She lives in this building, yeah?" Dexter asked with a raised eyebrow.
She nodded quickly, "Yeah! She said she would maybe live with us if we wanted her," Eidel was paraphrasing of course. Then again it wasn't like the younger girl was totally against the idea either.
He sort of shifted in his seat and got out his cellphone, "Well...Sisters are a big responsibility," Dexter laughed a bit at his own joke and then immediately felt lame about it. "Still it is a shame she is on her own...Let me call some folks and I'll see what needs to be done."
Eidel let out a squeal of happiness as she leaned up and kissed his cheek, "YAY! You're coming to the park with me and we're gonna meet with Molly and then we'll spend alllllllll day at the park. It'll be awesome!"
Dexter nodded a bit distractedly. Part of him wondered if she really was a teenager at times like these.

PROMPT Of Stars and Aliens Prompt: Eidel has gained an interest in celestial things. What happens when she learns more of them and the existence of aliens?
________________________
Dexter often caught her stargazing at the windows of the little apartment they shared. It wasn't a wistful stare or anything of that sort but more of an intrigued stare of someone that wondered about the possibilities of what is up there. The caregiver then started to provide her with books on astrology and a decent telescope so she could look skyward with more precision and hopefully see other things as well.
Eidel eventually got into Dexter's collection of Science Fiction books and movie and it was around then that he had to set her down and make sure she didn't take on more concepts than she could handle.
"You know everything on these books and movies is fiction, right? Like, not real?" Dexter asked as he set her down at the table for their chat.
The teenaged girl just smiled, "Well, yes! I know that! They are in books and in the movies. Only if it is a documentary and stuff is it real, right?"
The young man paused and gave Eidel a critical stare that meant that maybe she was tricking him somehow and trying to wiggle out of the talk by being more rational and smarter than she usually is. Usually Eidel was more exuberant and scatterbrained about such concepts but she seemed to have grown just a little bit. Not much but just enough to where she didn't seem quite as naive as she first did. Dexter let out a little sigh, "Fair enough. Want me to watch any of the movies with you?"
Eidel seemed to brighten up even more, if possible, and she nodded while she stood up and grabbed for Dexter's hand. The caregiver soon found himself dragged across the apartment to the couch in front of the television while she got everything set up. Dexter flopped onto the couch and soon enough Eidel was there her head resting against his shoulder as she watched the television screen with all of her attention.
It was almost amazing how rapt the subject had her as the movie started. Eidel gasped when something surprising happened, she cheered when something wonderful happened, and when she saw the aliens of the movie the teen was suddenly off the couch and closer to the television with wide eyes.
The aliens were born and made in a factory like setting. Sort of similar to how she was born! They had pointed ears just like her! Their skin colors were unlike Eidel's and a lot of them didn't seem to have hair, or they had really weird hairstyles. The aliens also had a language all their own which Eidel lacked but despite all of this...
Eidel's hand touched the screen and she gazed back at her caregiver and beamed, "That is what I am! I am an alien!"
Dexter sat up straighter now as he scooted to the edge of his seat, "What?! No. No. No. You know exactly what you are. You were born at the Dreamery, remember?!"
The girl just giggled and shifted her shoulders in a shrug, "I know that, silly!" she beamed at him in a way that Dexter almost sensed that she was telling him that he was being the irrational one in this little exchange. "But I am! I am an alien! I don't have to live in the stars like they do, that's all! The stars are already all around me on my body," Eidel explained cheerfully.
He ran his hand through the curly mass of his hair and grunted a bit, "I ... What is even happening anymore? I just...You weren't born in outer space and you aren't from a foreign realm or country..."
Eidel crawled over to him and put her hands on his knees as she stared up at his downward gazing face, "I am an alien," she insisted at him, "This planet is my home planet and you are my adopted father-face because I was made in a building through mysterious ways~. It isn't that different from the alien people in the movie!"
Again she used rationale against him. Dexter tried to find a point in the movie that he could counter argue with her on but the scenes of the movie that they had watched was more than enough to carry the weight of her argument for now.
At least she wasn't claiming to be the last of her race nor was she claiming to be a princess of the aliens. "Fine," Dexter relented with a deep sigh and that was when she pulled him into a clinging hug that collapsed them both to the floor in a comical fashion.
Eventually Eidel picked herself up and plucked up a book from his shelf with the title of 'DUNE' on it, "Gonna read now! Bye!" She then ducked into her room before he could even object.
Dexter remained on the floor and let out a bit of a groan. Hopefully this wouldn't get out of hand...

NANO EVENT SOLO Theme: Umbrella Dexter had given Eidel and Molly a bit of extra money to spend on whatever they wanted to. Eidel had found herself wandering the streets with the money securely in her her small wallet that she held within her hand - it wasn't the most secure thing to do but she felt and hoped that she wouldn't get stolen from yet again in such a short span of time. It felt silly to drag a purse around for just a short trip out to a store to see if she could find something to spend her money on. Despite her easy-go-lucky attitude Eidel was not exactly just a frivolous waster of resources given to her especially when it was from someone she admired and thought of as a good provider for the small family she was part of. Dexter had managed to, by leading from example, instill the importance of careful thought when making purchases and this leaked into other parts of her life as well. Eidel without realizing it or wanting to had matured and calmed a little - even just barely. She still daydreamed and looked up to the stars when night came around, but she didn't go for long walks anymore as if she was searching for something and that was likely because what she sought was now above her head.
The sky was going nowhere just yet, and likely not going anywhere ever.
Eidel visited various stores and only paused for a moment to enjoy a nice little lunch at a cafe before she went onward on her quest. The starry-skinned teen soon found herself at a little shop that sold a myriad of handmade things called 'Claire's Wares'. Eidel was even delighted by the fact that the shop owner herself was standing behind the counter and had greeted her with a friendly smile and a wave, which were gestures that Eidel gladly did in return before she went looking around in the shop. The teen couldn't help but admire the patience and dedication the woman named Claire had. Some things had little lights in them or played music, and some even did some little automated action such as spinning in place or boxes that opened on their own with a series of button presses. Everything was beautifully painted, masterfully upholstered, or just generally very nicely put together in some way that made it almost overwhelming and built a need to come by for a return visit. Suddenly she happened upon a set of umbrellas - she recalled needing one because there have been a few times that rain had stopped her from going outside for a walk. Humming a small song to herself Eidel quietly shifted the umbrellas about to get a good look at them until she eventually found a starry sky patterned umbrella. As she inspected the umbrella she found a button that wasn't simply for opening the object up to shield the wielder of the umbrella from the elements. Out of curiosity Eidel flicked the button and found to her delight that small LED lights went off on the fabric of the umbrella causing the stars to look like as if they were twinkling against the darker sky backdrop of the umbrella. Unable to help herself Eidel let out a delighted high-pitched squeal that caused Claire to look up from where she was doing a bit of writing into a logbook and start to laugh.
"Like it that much, precious?" Claire asked cheerfully.
Eidel startled guiltily, but soon nodded vigorously with a large smile, "It is very stellar! I love it. How did you manage to hide all the little wires and stuff? It must have taken forever," she breathed out as she tried to figure out how it worked. She gently pushed fingertips against the parts of the umbrella to see if she could feel any sort of wires and things that would cause the umbrella to work like it did.
The woman's response was just to smile mysteriously and shrug as she spoke "I can't tell you my secrets, you might never come back if I did." Claire followed that up with a small amused chuckle and gestured for Eidel to come closer to the counter. "I'll give you a discount on the umbrella though. Your reaction warmed my heart, it is very rare I see someone so delighted over a simple umbrella."
The teen didn't go up to the counter right away, in fact she lingered for a second or two before she plucked up an umbrella that seemed like something Molly would enjoy. She took both umbrellas and set them on the counter taking a moment to look at the one she picked for her Sister. It had wavy patterns in various shades of blue - it looked a bit like water with small ducks scattered here and there swimming around without a care in the world and it appeared to be right up Molly's alley and if not? Well, it was simply an umbrella and useful if only for that fact.
Eidel fiddled about with her wallet while Claire rung everything up on the register, "Good taste on the umbrellas, those happen to be my favorite when I worked on them," she murmured as she accepted the money from the teen and then placed them purchases in a nice protective bag.
"Really? They're both very nice. It must have taken you a long time to put together," Eidel replied as she took the bag and placed her wallet in it.
Claire let out a small tsk sound and shook her head, "Not too long at all. I close down shop for a bit if I ever need to refill large amounts of stock, but that is very rare at all. I keep pretty much on top of everything I make and need to make. The part of the magic to running this sort of business is managing your time well," she laughed and shrugged her shoulders. "Have a lovely day out, dear."
Instead of leaving right away Eidel just beamed, "Since I'll be coming back you can call me Eidel!" She then left the store with a small wave. Claire watched with a fond but amused expression on her face - sometimes she met the most interesting little gems.
