Tuala had led Zerachiel out into the warm air on this sunny, slightly breezy day, and the moth-winged boy had gone off for a bit for errands, leaving Zera content to sit beneath a densely shaded tree to wait for him. Something about being in the apartment alone was disconcerting to Zera, and there was such a fascination in the way the air seemed to keep brushing at him as if to ask his attention.

The sun was hot, almost uncomfortably so; he could feel it now and then if the branches swayed enough to cast its rays onto his face. Thank goodness for the breeze. He was for now taking in the wide-open sound of everything, how he couldn't feel or hear the end of the space around him now that he was outside. He could almost imagine where he was, after a time of silent observation.

One hand sifted into and around the sparse grass beneath him, along the rough ridges of the tree's roots, studying it carefully.

Eidel was an explorer! She braved the worlds around her with a bright smile and a bounce in her step. She wanted to see if she could make yet more friends today or at least find something to do while Dexter-man was out at work since she couldn't help him right now. It didn't take her too long to notice someone seated beneath a tree.

Most might have been put off by certain aspects of this figure's appearance but Eidel was intrigued. Her curiosity would likely prove to be her undoing.

Humming softly she wandered toward where the other sat beneath the branches of the tree and crouched a bit, "Hiii~. Are you lonely sitting here like this?"

Footsteps, and then a voice. Zera's head lifted, just slightly, his face taking a faint and hesitant smile for just an instant. He tried to pinpoint her location a bit, to at least pretend he could look at her, but he wasn't quite good enough at it yet....

"... oh, hi." Zera's smile returned faintly again, but he spoke softly, in a whisper. "I... no I'm alright, I'm just... feeling the breeze."

He paused some, lifting his fingers from the grass to reach into the air. His smile deepened a little.

"It's new. I like it."

Eidel seemed curious at the slightly off position of his head as the other looked toward her. She couldn't quite place why but there was just something about it, it triggered a desire to just very gently reach over and pat his cheek to help him out.

"Here, here! I am over here." Was his eye sight really bad? She didn't like to assume he was blind, or was he? Was that an okay question to ask?

The teen quietly squirmed at the questions boiling inside her and settled on a different question entirely, "Do you not get out a lot?"

Another pause, "I'm Eidel!"

There was a faint flinch as his attention lifted some, but the black eyes met nothing, just blinked once or twice as his hands instinctively lifted. "Aah?"

He gave her another smile, though his brows knit in confusion and fret. "I... no, I don't, I can't go out alone..."

Gosh but she was friendly. Or at least, very eager to interact, was it? He could... manage. She was being helpful enough to guide him by the cheek like Tuala had, some.

"I'm... Zerachiel." He gave a sort of thoughtful smile. "... Zera, if you like."

Eidel tilted her head at the flinch and the movement of his hands, "Is okay! I won't hurt you~," she assured softly as she tucked her legs beneath her now and settled across from him. The young star-skinned girl had decided to linger with him a while.

"Zera...chi..el..." She tried out the name carefully before she nodded with a large goofy grin. "I will call you Zera! You seem so lovely~. Is a shame you cannot go outside alone. Is it... Is it because you cannot see very well?"

His explanation seemed to let her brave the possible faux pas.

Her reassurance brought a soft little laugh as he tried to follow her movement, the sound of her settling against the grass. He wouldn't mind her stumbling on his name, but what was 'lovely' all about...? He gave her a questioning expression, instinctively, but returned to a shy smile.

"Mm... not at all." A hand raised to his face, touching near one eye. "... I mean, I don't see at all. Tuala leads me for now, until I learn how to get around on my own. But it felt nice right here... so I'm waiting for him."

The questioning expression was met with her smiling. She meant what she said! He looked very interesting, definitely different from her. Eidel found that she treasured each different looking individual she ran across because they were all so wonderful.

She watched Zera carefully and let out a soft 'Oooh'. That made sense!

"I am happy you have someone to help you, Zera. I bet Tuala is a nice person! I have a Dexter-man that makes sure I don't get in too much trouble. He is trying to teach me to be careful of strangers," she said cheerfully. So far she wasn't being all that careful.

Then again Zera wasn't a stranger anymore! Zera was a Zera.

Zera smiled widely in agreement. She had someone to care for her too, that was good... the technicians seemed to think they all ought to have them. Maybe that's what Tuala was, but he seemed young, didn't he?

"Strangers..." Zera's head canted some, pondering over the expression and the concern. "... mmh. That's right."

Sort of as if he'd forgotten that people he didn't know could do things that weren't kind to him. And he was blind, how easy would that be?

"... I suppose you can't be much in trouble sitting under a tree, can you?" he mused quietly, smiling somewhat.

Eidel shrugged her shoulders, "I suppose so! I think you seemed nice because you were just sitting there and enjoying the world. You were petting the grass and just looked content. I would think if you were bad you'd look...Mean and angry all the time."

The teen's face skewed into a mockery of a mean expression, if only for her benefit more than Zera's. It was safe to say she forgot that Zera couldn't see.

Her face relaxed back to normal, "What are some things you like to do Zera? Do you sing? I like to sing, but I dance a lot better. The other day I learned how to swim!"

Oops. He was petting the grass wasn't he?

"Mm, that's true... I'm still learning, touching things is how I'm... how I'm learning the most, really."

Keeping up with her was an interesting task; she was so energetic, bouncing from topic to topic. He shrank back some, but not without a little smile, a sort of reassurance that he didn't find her offputting at all.

"I'm not sure what I like to do yet... still learning simple things." His brow furrowed a bit. "... haven't ever tried singing yet. Swimming sounds... fun though..."

He'd spent enough time dragging his hands through water just to feel how it moved to know that bit, but he wasn't sure it'd be something he could do.

Eidel was always learning. Learning about Zera. Learning about the area round her.

Just learning at all times.

The teen quieted as she adjusted and tucked away information, these were enough for her. She would simply help him find things to enjoy! That was that at least for her. "Swimming is fun," she assured with a bright smile. There was a thoughtful hum.

"Is learning the world by touching things difficult?" Eidel didn't know what it was like to be blind.

Zera's head shook some. "Mm. I don't think so, but it's all I know."

His fingers played over his knee and back into the grass. He skewed to one side a little, as if to adjust the feeling of gravity on himself.

"It's like seeing I guess. Just different." The other hand lifted to his ear. "There's ways hearing helps, too... people's voices, or how when they're bigger, they sound bigger when they move... you know?"

His head canted, unsure he was articulating himself properly. "I wonder if I could learn to swim..."

Eidel nodded a bit and ingested the new tidbit of information. Zera was interesting to talk to and very nice. She liked the calm way he talked and behaved and the way he was just a little shy. Eidel thought it was cute.

Then again she thought a lot of things were cute.

"Dexter-man told me once that sometimes there are things you just can't experience. For me I think that the blindness counts," she uttered a small giggle. "So. If you can't see faces then ... you just recognize the voices and stuff?" She wondered if his world was just darkness or blurry shape. Was it like when one closed their eyes to sleep?

Eidel scooted a bit closer to him her hands reaching toward one of his, "I bet you can. Anyone can learn to swim! I can teach you one day if you want."

Zera nodded at her question, but he was a bit startled to feel her hand at his own, even if it drew a shy smile. He'd prefer people touch him; voices could be mimicked, after all.

"Mm, I'd like that, thank you." His head bowed a little as his hand moved to touch back at hers, to get a feel of it. "This is- this is a good way to recognize someone too. Everyone feels a little different. Hands, or faces... "

His other hand trailed along his cheek as it often did just to ease himself.
