Finder's Keepers?
This time around Junjie vowed to be incredibly careful when it came to exploring the woods, having already had enough run ins with the Ysali that seemed to make the woods their home. He would much rather just go on a walk that didn't involve running for his life he thought to himself as he took each step with caution, a walking stick in hand 'just in case' though what it would do against a dragon he didn't know. He just knew that he felt a lot better having something akin to a weapon in hand even if he had no idea exactly how to use it to defeat a dragon. If he was lucky it wouldn't come to that, though he couldn't help but to marvel over just how many Ysali seemed to be around. There was the one that he'd tried to out run and accidentally scored a win against and then there was the sleeping one that he had almost started poking at before he realized exactly what it was that he was dealing with. From now on when it came to green things he was just going to have to be careful, that was all. Famous last words of course as a short time later something strange came rolling down a hill and came to a stop almost at his feet, "Eh?"
Squatting down, resting the stick next to him, he set to inspecting the thing. It was about the size of a watermelon, something that he and his mother grew from time to time when they had the space, it was bright green, and it almost looked like... an egg? What was a big, green egg doing here he found himself wondering, reaching a hand out to rest it against the shell, curious as to why it wasn't in a nest as well as what it was doing rolling down a hill all on its lonesome. Just as he was trying to figure out the answers to said questions he heard a voice calling out about the 'missing egg' and he looked down at the one that he was squatted down in front of. A part of him wondered if he should pick it up and bring it up to whoever was up there since it seemed to be theirs. Something he was about to do before he heard another voice call back that she wasn't sure where it had gotten off to but that they needed to find it, that it was worth to much to just let go after the work they'd put into stealing it. Junjie's eyes went rather wide as he lowered his gaze to looking down at the brightly colored egg, "You were stolen?" He asked of it in a whisper, as though the egg would answer him back.
It would seem that bringing the egg back to those people wasn't a good idea and he really had no idea where they had stolen them from so he couldn't exactly bring it back to its nest so what should he do with it? Given how cool the shell was starting to feel he knew that he would need to warm it up, that much was for sure, and then he would... bring it home? Seemed like as good an option as any, he couldn't very well leave it sitting here for just anyone to find after all, not when there were egg thieves on the loose. He wasn't sure what it made him, he was trying to save the egg from thieves so that was good but he couldn't bring it back to where it belonged so that wasn't as good... but at least he could bring it home, warm it up, keep it safe, everything that needed to be done. Right? It was a strange situation where there was no way that he could really do the right thing, not when the right thing would be him trying to figure out where this egg belonged while avoiding egg thieves, Ysali, and various other dangers.
"I will take you home with me, Mom might know what to do." He told the egg before he stretched out the shirt he was wearing so that he could pull the egg under it, one arm wrapped around the hefty egg, and then scooped up the stick that he'd been carrying around with him, before he turned on his heel, and waddled off toward home, making sure to move as quickly as possible to keep himself ahead of those that would probably want to take the egg back from him and it wasn't as though there was much someone his size could do about it.
The trip home was a slow going and exhausting one, never having had to run around while carrying such a heavy weight. It was tiring but it was actually good training he thought to himself in an amused manner. Maybe he should see about carrying the egg around a bit more, he might end up with greater endurance in time he thought to himself as he went, sighing in relief when he saw his home coming into view. Never was he happier to see their house then this very moment... though he wouldn't truly be relieved until he gotten inside and he was certain that the egg thieves weren't following after him. As such the moment he got inside he closed the door, locked it, and shuffled over to one of the windows to peek out from the curtains in the direction he'd come from. There was a long moment that he stood there just like that, watching and waiting, but never spotting anyone out of the ordinary walking by. That must mean that he'd made it back safety? Wonderful! Giving a sigh of relief he sank down to his knees on the ground, hugging the large egg that he had up his shirt, "Phew, you're safe now, Eggy." He told it, sounding quite delighted over that fact.
Pulling his shift up so that he could look the egg over, as well as checking it to make sure that it was warm enough, Junjie gave another smile, "You feel much warmer now, that's good. You were so cold when I first found you." He told the egg, smoothing his hands over it shell before he leaned over to press his head to the glittering shell, curious if he'd heard anything yet. He'd learned long ago when it came to bird eggs at least that you could hear them scratching around and peeping inside the shell. None of that yet, "Not ready to come out yet, huh? It's alright, I will wait patiently until you're feeling up to come out of there." He told the one inside the egg, snuggling it closer to continue to keep it warm and safe.
It wasn't long before the boy was dozing off on the kitchen floor while hugging the adorable egg, it was there that his mother found him and she couldn't help but to sigh a little as she spotted the boy and the giant egg, "Junjie... what did you bring home now?" She murmured, shaking her head as she walked over to scoop the two up, carrying him and the egg back to his room. She could take a guess as to what it was and while it wasn't really something she wanted running around the house she found herself debating over the pros and cons, maybe if he had the egg to look after he'd be convinced to stay home more? She kind of hoped so, he'd been out far more lately then she would like, wanting to just keep her son where he was safe, that being at her side where she could look after him. Once he woke up she supposed that they would need to talk.

The Egg Decides to Hatch At Last!
It was late at night when a scratching sound woke the deeply sleeping Junjie, causing him to look around in a somewhat confused manner, "Huh...? Mom?" He murmured, lifting a hand to rub it against his eyes in a somewhat dazed manner. It took a moment for the boy to realize that it was still quite dark in his room and that it wasn't his mother that was trying to wake him. Sitting up he pulled back the blanket, looking from side to side, before realizing that the scratching sounds were coming from the egg that he was laying alongside next to. A squeak of surprise escaped from the boy, causing him to reach out toward the egg, resting his hands on it, "Is that you?" He asked of the egg, leaning in to press his ear to the side of it, listening closely, hearing a meeping sound from within the shell that was followed by more scratching. So it was the egg?! It was going to hatch! Giving a squeak he pulled himself out of bed, hurrying to light his lamp, carrying it over to hang it up over the bed.
"Oh wow! I can't believe that you are really going to hatch!" He'd gotten so distracted stalking for a letter back from the Dovaa that he and his mother had sent a message to that he had almost forgotten about the fact that the egg might be hatching soon. He'd had it with him for some time and there hadn't been any indication that it was imminent but this, this was so exciting! The boy shifted so that he was sitting cross legged in front of the egg, wrapping the blanket around the base of it so that it wouldn't risk rolling off the bed, "Alright! You can do it! All you have to do is break through the shell!" He encouraged whatever was inside of the egg in an excited tone of voice. He wanted to help, really he did, but his mother had told him on many occasions with the creatures that they raised that you weren't supposed to help them. Hatching from an egg was an essential test for any creature, a test proving that they were ready for the world. As such he would need to be patient and just wait for the baby to make its way out on its own.
He couldn't help but to wonder and worry a little about the one in the egg if for a moment. What if Tilawen was right? What if the one inside of the egg didn't like him? No, no... he wouldn't think about that. He wanted to believe that the one inside of the egg would like him, would be friends with him, and that they would get along. He had taken good care of the egg right? Saved it from the egg thieves, made sure that the egg didn't end up anywhere terrible like Lanzecki almost had. No, this was all going to be alright. Tilawen had given him a 'what if' scenario to think about but he really wanted to believe that things would work out. While they were very, very different in personality, look, and even breed both of Erionda's Drakein loved her. So of course whatever sort was inside of the egg would love him as well, right? Would it be as protective as Uassae or as nippy as Lanzecki, that he didn't know, but he would know soon enough, right?
At least that was what he figured... he was a little wrong though. It seemed that hatching was a long, drawn out process. There was a lot of shifting around inside the egg, scratching, squeaking, and cracks that spread across the shell in a web pattern. The one inside the egg didn't seem to be in much of a hurry, did it? Time passed at a grueling manner, going from the dark of night to early morning, and it was then that the first real bit of hatching happened as a foot came kicking through the side of the egg, wiggled around a moment, then was pulled back inside. More shifting and then a bright blue-green eye starred out through the hole at Junjie. The eye went wide, softened, and if he could see the rest of the creature he felt that it would be smiling, "Hello there. Are you gonna come out now?" He asked of the little Keinling that was starring out at him. There was more shifting before the one inside started start the struggle once more.
Junjie was so engrossed in what he was watching, getting to see various holes punched in the side of the egg, that he missed the few times that his mother came to look in on him. He missed breakfast as well even though his mother had put it on the table next to his bed. Nothing else mattered at the moment other then what was going on in front of him. A few more holes in the egg shell later the creature finally burst forth from it, shell pieces going in all directions, before the creature flopped over on the bed, breathing hard, seeming to be quite exhausted. Junjie starred at the cute, green, feathery creature before he gave a happy sound, "Wow! Look at you! You are so pretty!" The boy squeal before he scooped up the already decent sized Keinling and raced out of his room, wanting nothing more then to show the baby off to his mother as soon as possible!

A Letter Back Solo
Junjie was running about the yard with Abellio hot on his heels, the both of them chasing after the pretty, flicker moths that came out at night. They were pretty creatures, something Jun loved due to how they could glow, and he was determined once more to try to catch some of them. He knew he couldn't keep them for long, it wouldn't be good for them, but the chase was fun! It was as he was chasing the small, glowing creatures that someone in a cloak started up the path toward their place, something that caused him to freeze in place, "Ahhh..." Maybe it was someone to see his mother he thought to himself, his worry growing a little which caused Abellio to give a little, rumbling growl at the cloaked figured in response. Glancing down at him he moved to rest a hand on the Keinling's head to sooth him, standing up as tall as he could, and waited to see what the cloaked figure was going to do.
Much to his surprise instead of some sort of attack the man's hand slipped forth for the depths of the cloak he wore and held out a letter to him. There were no words, just that single envelope and the moment that Junjie took it from him the one in the cloak was already leaving. He starred down at the letter for a moment, seeing his mother's name on it, and he looked to Abellio, "Come on, we will give this to Mom." He told the little one who was still glaring after the cloaked figured, as though displeased with the fact that the person had dared to scare his Junjie. Trotting back toward the house Junjie set to inspecting the envelope on all sides, holding it up to the moon light, and otherwise trying to figure out what might be inside of it. He wanted so badly to open it but given that it was his mother's name on it and now his own he didn't dare to do so. Best to give it to her and hope that she allowed him to know what the contents of the letter might be.
"Mom! A letter came for you!" He called out as he stepped inside, closing the door behind Abellio, then trotted down the hallway to his mother's clinic, looking inside, giving a smile as he did so. She was in there cleaning up, checking her supplies, changing the bedding, the various things that she did each night so that she would be ready the next day if a patient came by, "A letter, Mom." He said, walking over to her and held it out.
The woman paused in her cleaning, reaching out to take the letter from her son, and turned it over to read her name. There was a moment when she gave pause, running her thumb over the scrawling letters before she opened it up, taking the paper from it, and set to reading over what the letter said. It wasn't too long a letter, short and to the point which was normal for the one that had penned it, and she gave a soft sigh as she tucked it away, "It's an address and a date for when we are to meet with the Dovaa that I told you about." She told him, they had a week for Junjie to get ready for the meeting with the man, a week to prepare him, and that also gave her a week to send one other letter as well, "You go and start get some things packed, no rush of course as we have a week. I need to see about writing a letter to Burrom, to see if he wishes for Tilawen to go along as well."
Junjie starred at his mother with wide eyes, gave a bit of a gasping sound, before he turned on his heel and ran out of the clinic and to his own room, "Come on, Abellio! It's time to pack!" He said, quite excited. The fact that the man had answered them back meant that he would soon be on his way to becoming a Dovaa, at least half Dovaa, of the Ysali clan! It was quite exciting, something that he wanted to squeal about, something he wanted to tell the world about, but it was something he would need to keep secret. The only ones that were allowed to know what he was doing was his mother, Abellio, and himself. Well, Burrom and Tilawen as well if the man decided that the two of them could come along. He hoped so, the girl was really, really quiet, only speaking from time to time, but at the same time he felt that she was a good friend to him. Not to mention meeting with the Dovaa that would be helping him to become a Ysali Dovaa would be a lot less intimidating if he wasn't alone when he did so.
With all of this running through his mind the boy happily worked on trying to figure out everything that he wanted to bring along with him. He knew that he had a week to get things picked out but he couldn't help but to want to pack straight away, more excited then he'd ever been in his life over the prospect of becoming a Ysali.
