Parental Concerns
The little green, reptilian Pokemon waddled about the backyard, picking up a rock from a large pile on one side and placing it in a different pile on the opposite side. He had been doing this all morning. Once one pile was depleted, he simply reversed the process and moved them back. For him, it was something to do and kept him from thinking too much. For his parents, it was cause for concern.
"I'm worried, Monty," fretted the female Tyranitar as she she looked out the window, watching her son move rocks. "Every time Zoey's sick, he goes out there and moves rocks around! He doesn't even take a nibble out of them!"
The male Feraligatr that stood next to her sighed, "I'm sure he's just worried about her, dear." He shifted uneasily. He was worried as well, but it was his job, as father, to be strong and not to show worry or fear. "You know he can't go into her room when she's like this, I'll bet anything he's just trying to keep himself busy and his mind off of her. She is the only friend he has."
"That's something else that worries me, hun. There're plenty of other Pokemon around, even some his own age, but he absolutely refuses to socialize! What's going to happen when he gets older? I would like to have grandchildren at some point!"
This last comment caused the stalwart crocodilian to cough as if he'd choked on something. If he'd been drinking something, that beverage would've been covering the window now. "What if he grows up and doesn't like girls?" Monty managed after he had regained his composure.
"Well, that's fine too, he could adopt." She replied, matter-of-factly.
"What's stopping him from adopting when he's older and doesn't have a significant other?" Monty was serious, but Gojira thought he was joking and gave him a very stern look that caused the Water-type to step back.
"Do you really think our lonely, little boy will adopt or have a child if he doesn't meet anyone?!" The Dark/Rock-type was right in her husband's face. Despite the type advantage, Monty had no desire to argue with his wife, especially about something like the welfare of their son. The worried mother sighed and leaned back, out of his face. He gulped in relief. She looked back out the window, Aggro hadn't changed his activity. "What're we going to do with him, Monty?"
"He'll be okay," Monty replied, trying to sound tough and sure of himself again. He curled a scaly arm around her waist and pulled her close, giving her a smooch on the cheek. "You'll see, my emerald queen, he'll be just fine. He's a chip off the very beautiful Rock-type." He gave Gojira a squeeze, causing a smile to appear. "There we go!" Monty nearly cheered, "There's my gorgeous girl!"
"Oh, Monty," the Tyranitar sighed, laying her head on his broad shoulder. "I hope you're right... for his sake."

A Light Snack
It was another dreary day, consisting of Aggro moving rocks out back. He did this any time Zoey was sick and he was forbidden to go into her room, for fear he'd make her condition worse. He was a bright Larvitar, though, and he knew why he wasn't allowed near her on days like today. The rock moving wasn't him pouting, it was him dealing with his worry. Every time Zoey got sick, he worried himself silly, and this was all he could do to keep from worrying himself sick.
Today he'd been at it as soon as he was let outside this morning. He'd been kicked out of the room late last night when Zoey had woken up, coughing and unable to breathe properly. Well, kicked out was a harsh term. In reality, he had awoken due to the sounds of her struggling. In a blink, he had ran out of their room and was pounding on the door to her parents' room. They had rushed out, this issue sadly routine, and Aggro stayed behind, knowing the door would be closed. He sat outside her door, listening to the troubles she was having. He had the ever-important just of guarding her and listening for issues when she slept. But he always wished there was more he could do when she was having one of her episodes.
Aggro sighed, having moved the pile for another countless time. He looked up, it was beginning to grow dark and he was growing very hungry. His stomach growled loudly at the injustice of not being fed at all today. Groaning, due to his emotions, rather than his hunger, he sat down with a hard thud. He didn't feel like eating, not until he knew Zoey was okay. Staring up into the sky, he could see a few of the brighter stars twinkling through the clouds. Despite his mood, the sky was beautiful today, and that angered him a bit. Why should the sky be so nice and cheerful when Zoey was so sick?
Just then, he heard the creak of the backdoor. It caused him to turn so fast he about rolled over backwards. It was Zoey's father. The little Larvitar sat motionless as the human strolled out towards him. "Hey, Aggro," came the weary voice of the older man. "Thank you for letting us know about Zoey again." He gave the little one a weak smile and patted him on the head as he took a seat next to the Rock-type. "You know we're really happy to have you with us, Aggro. You mean a lot to Zoey and you help out more than you know." The bearded face of the man never stopped looking at the green face of the Larvitar. Aggro didn't blink, he listened carefully. "She's fine now, but she's sleeping, so I wouldn't go barging in there just yet, okay?" Aggro's tension visibly eased at the last statement. The old man patted the Pokemon on the head and got up, walking back inside.
Aggro breathed a sigh of relief and laid back in the grass, looking back up into the sky. He was no longer angry at it and was quite happy that the sky was so beautiful tonight. A smile crept across his face and he closed his eyes to listen to the sounds of the night. As his listened, something was making a very faint musical tone. It was just one note, but he couldn't place what was making it, it wasn't any bird or instrument. Opening his eyes, a curious expression on his face, he looked around. It seemed to be coming from the pile of rocks. Wanting, no, needing to know what was making the noise, he dug through the pile until he came across something that looked like a star. Picking it up, it felt like a rock but the sound was definitely coming from it. He tossed it over and over in his hands, studying it. After a few moments of holding the item and rolling it over and over, he shrugged and popped the star in his mouth. It tasted terrible, but was in his stomach now, oh well.

Note to Self: Don't Eat Strange Rocks
A terrible pain in his abdomen caused Aggro to wake up in the middle of the night. So as to not disturb his friend and trainer, Zoey, he crept out of the room, wincing all the way. The pain only intensified as he moved, it felt like someone was stabbing him in the stomach with a fire poker. He thought back at what he'd eaten that day, but couldn't think of anything that would cause this horrid indigestion. Everything he'd had was normal to any other day, except for that star-shaped rock. The thought of the star seemed to intensify the pain. Doubling over and grabbing his tummy, the little Larvitar immediately regretted eating the stone. He'd never do that again!
Feeling that fresh air would be the best thing for him, Aggro struggled to stand and walk to the door. With his short stature, the door was normally difficult to open, but with the added burden of him hurting, it was near-impossible. After much flailing, he finally managed to open the door and scurry into the backyard.
The night air was cool, but Aggro couldn't tell, he felt like he was burning up. The fire in his stomach now engulfed his entire body, it was causing his head to swim. He stumbled about the backyard, dizzy and unsure where to go. The Larvitar took only a few steps more before he fell, face-first into the soft grass. A thud and a groan as he hit were the last noises he made before passing out.
The following morning came all too quickly. Aggro opened an aching eye to a blurry view of his mother standing over him. At least, he assumed it was his mother, he couldn't think of anything else that this large, green blob could be.
"What is he?" he heard the echoing voice of his father ask.
"Our son," the green blob replied flatly. He was positive it was his mother now.
Groaning, Aggro tried to lift himself from his current position. As he did so, he felt very odd; aside from the aching, he felt taller... and his tail felt longer. At first, he wondered if he'd evolved straight into a Tyranitar over night, it would definitely be an ordeal if he had and it'd make sense why he was so sore. But for his father to ask what he was made him rethink. His eyes slowly began to regain their normal vision. He looked at his mother and father, both standing over him, staring. His mother had a worried smile, the one she had when she was trying to reassure someone so they wouldn't freak out. This made him nervous and his father's gawking wasn't helping.
"Now pebble," his mother started calmly, "It seems you've gone through a bit of a change. Don't fret, we'll still love you, you are our son... But..." She looked to her husband, unsure how to proceed. The Feraligatr merely shrugged, garnering a quick glare from the Tyranitar. She turned back to Aggro, the reassuring smile back in place. "I think you may want to put some clothes on."
Aggro, puzzled, Pokemon rarely wore clothing as they were more animal than anything. His mother cleared her throat and nodded, indicating he should probably look at himself. Still confused, Aggro slowly lowered his gaze. When his eyes met his now-long, peach and green legs, his vision shot back to his mother. She was still giving him her reassuring smile, there wasn't much else she could do. His worry increased and he opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out, only a helpless squeak. The Tyranitar rushed over to him and wrapped him up in her string arms. Frightened tears streamed down the young Pokechild's face.
The Tyranitar hushed him, gently stroking his now blond and red-haired head. "It's okay honey, it's okay. Everything will be just fine." She began to hum, hopefully calming the Tototar. But how could he calm down when he looked like this? What would Zoey think? What would Carwyn, his only friend that wasn't family, think? Aggro continued to sob until he fell asleep again, terrible thoughts running through his head.

Learning Your ABCs
"Aggro, I think it's time you learn how to read and write," Zoey stated as she plopped a book on the table Aggro had set several cleaned rocks on. He'd been planning on work on his craft, carving stones into small figurines. If he didn't practice, he'd never get better. But, it was obvious that Zoey had other plans for him today. Opening the book to the first page, showed a giant letter "A" next to a lowercase "a." The two letters were surrounded by pictures of words that began with the letter "a." "This is 'A,' it's the first letter of the alphabet and it's used in a lot of words. All these things start with the letter." With a finger, she pointed to each picture and listed them in turn. "This is an apple, an Articuno, an avocado, an Arbok, and an Aguav berry. Your name starts with letter too!" She turned the page, this one showing upper an lowercase "B"s. "This is "B," it's in a lot of words too." She pointed to the pictures surrounding the letters again and listed them off. "A Beedrill, a barn, a bean, a Bouffalant, a Bluk berry. Berry starts with 'B' also." She turned the page and continued on until she'd gone through the entire book.
"That's all the letters you need. Now, to make words, you just combine letters together and sentences are made with combinations of words. Each word has a specific way to combine the letters together, you call that spelling." Zoey pulled a stack of paper on to the table and handed Aggro a pencil. "I'm gonna teach you how to write and spell your name!" She smiled her normal warming smiled. Aggro couldn't help but smile back, he was glad she was feeling well enough to spend time with him today. She'd been going on and on since his change that he needed to learn how to read and write, that way he could send letters back and forth to his best friend, Carwyn, the shiny Drapion. Even the momentary thought of getting to communicate with him caused a warm sensation to lick his cheeks.
"You okay?" the concerned voice of the young girl brought Aggro back and his cheeks cooled. A brief, awkward pause later and they were back on track, with Zoey showing Aggro how to write every letter, and then eventually teaching him to write his name. "Good! You did an awesome job," Zoey remarked after he'd practiced writing his name several times. "You're a fast learner." She tried to pull a thick, heavy book on to the table, only managing to succeed with Aggro's help. "This is a dictionary. It has a lot of words in it, with their definitions and spellings." She opened the book to a random page and pointed to a word. "See? It also has how you say them." At this Aggro groaned a bit and looked away. Zoey just chuckled, "It's okay, if you're not ready to talk yet, I'm not gonna force you." She gave him a big hug. When she pulled away, she still had that warm smile. "Let's keep going."
The rest of the day was spent practicing writing and learning how to read. It was a lot of information to take in, but Aggro was a quick learner and managed to grasp everything easily. By nightfall, he'd learned so much Zoey was certain he was ready for one more thing. Rolling over to her bed, she pulled a wrapped package out from under the mattress. Bringing it back to the table, she handed it to Aggro with a very broad smile. "This is for you." Aggro gave her a confused look and she motioned for him to open it. Ripping the paper off revealed a deep red diary, complete with lock and key. "It's a journal, for you to write down anything you want. AND, it comes with a lock, so no one else can read it without you wanting them to." Aggro smiled, looking down at the book and lovingly stroking the binding. Touched, he placed the diary on the table and carefully gave Zoey a hug. "I take it, you like the journal?" Aggro pulled away and smiled, nodding. "Good, I was worried about the color."
"Zoey," the girl's mother poked her head into the room, "Dear, it's time for bed." A groan was all Zoey managed to do as far as contesting the decision before her mom spoke again. "No arguing. You too, Aggro." The Tototar simply nodded and helped Zoey get ready for bed, before bunking down himself on his mat on the floor.

Dear diary,
Zoey said I should write in you whenever I have something to say, but don't feel like talking to anyone. I suppose I will be using you a lot then. I feel that my voice is lost to this world. There are only two people in this world that would ever listen to me, should I ever choose to say anything.
The first is Zoey. This should not be a surprise, she's been with me ever since I was hatched. She understands me more than either my parents. She also doesn't pressure me into anything, like I feel my mom and dad do from time to time. I wish I could do more for her. She's very sick, they don't think I can comprehend how bad off she is, but I do. And I realize how much her, no, our family is struggling. Her doctor's bills are very high and the business of finding the right stones that are considered "precious" by humans is not doing well. We just can't find enough. My dad says that he thinks the mines have already been exhausted of the resources everyone in the village is looking for. This is why I'm trying to hone my carving skills. I think, if I become good enough, I could make a decent living. There were a lot of sculptures that were in Carwyn's city. Someone had to make those and then someone else had to buy them. I need to work hard so I can become better than any other sculptor.
That brings me to the second person I believe would listen to me, Carwyn. I may just be assuming, however. I've spent more time with the Drapion than I have anyone else, outside the family, of course. I really enjoy his company and (again, assuming) I think he enjoys my company as well. He brings emotions out in me that I've never felt before. I don't know what this means, but I do know that whenever I leave his company, something feels lost or broken inside me. I wonder if this is normal?
Well, diary, I suppose that's all I really have to say, or rather, write today.
heart Aggro

Dear Diary,
I was not expecting to have to write in you quite this frequently. But, today, something came to mind. A lot of people and Pokemon... and Pokehumans (what I shall call those changed by the stars, like myself) ask me if I can eat "regular" food. This question always amuses me slightly, because, to me, rocks and stones are regular food. Today, though, Zoey asked me a different, but related question: she asked what different rocks taste like. It took me several hours to figure out what rocks I could liken to foods that Zoey and others eat. Just in case anyone else asks for this information, I planned on writing it down here so that I would not have to try and remember it again.
The three main types of rocks are Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic. Within each group there are several subtypes.
~Igneous *Felsic Igneous rocks tastes similar to raw, green vegetables *Intermediate Igneous rocks taste similar to wheat and wheat-heavy foods *Mafic Igneous rocks tastes similar to beans *Ultra-mafic Igneous rocks taste similar to raw beef (which I understand comes from cows) *Alkalic Igneous rocks taste similar to nuts ~Sedimentary *Clastic Sedimentary rocks taste like boiled green vegetables *Biochemical Sedimentary rocks taste similar to cooked shellfish *Chemical Sedimentary rocks taste similar to milk and other dairy products *"Other" Sedimentary rocks are very bland and chalky (Zoey says it sounds similar to the taste of some of her medicines; my least favorite rocks) ~Metamorphic *Contact Metamorphic rocks have various flavors but always has a "raw" taste *Regional Metamorphic rocks have a VERY wide variety of flavors, it's hard to describe. The best I can liken it too is to a dish that has tens of hundreds of levels of flavors. Dishes that are only sold in really expensive restaurants, from what I've been told. I hate to say it, but these are always among my favorite rocks
I did some reading, trying to find a reasoning for these likenesses, the only conclusion I could come to is the chemical make up between these rocks and "regular" foods. I apologize for the following, rather dry, scientific information that is to follow.
~Igneous: formed when magma cools and hardens; crystalline solids; has several types of morphologies: Intrusive (magma cools within the crust), Extrusive (magma cools at crust's surface), and Hypabyssal (magma cools just under the crust's surface); the morphologies lend more to texture than flavor. *Felsic: high silica content (63% or more) *Intermediate: 52-63% silica content *Mafic: low silica content (45-52%), but high iron and/or magnesium content *Ultra-mafic: less that 45% silica content *Alkalic: 5-15% alkali content ~Sedimentary: formed from particles of sand, shell, pebbles, and other fragments of materials are pressed together in layers; flaky texture *Clastic: composed of silicate minerals and rock fragments that were transported by moving fluids *Biochemical: created when organisms use material dissolved in air or water to build their tissue *Chemical: form when mineral constituents in solution become supersaturated and inorganically precipitate *"Other": formed by impacts, volcanism, and other relatively uncommon processes ~Metamorphic: arise from the transformation of existing rock types *Contact: created when magma is injected into the surrounding solid rock *Regional: (also known as Dynamic) formed when changes in great masses of rock over a wide area; can be due to heat and/or pressure at great depths
And that should just about cover it. Of course, there are hundreds of differing flavors within each of these groups, but to list that would take a lifetime, and not mine, but one far longer. Regardless, most stones follow these general rules.
heart Aggro
P.S. The stone that changed me tasted very bland and chalky, I think it was part of the "Other" group of Sedimentary rocks, only it was imbued with magical properties.

Cutting Teeth
Another day found Aggro trying to perfect his craft of stone carving. He’d been working like a fiend trying to get better the past few weeks, especially since Zoey was currently at the hospital getting treatments and she would be back home soon. He wanted to make sure he was able to make something beautiful for her upon her return. He had the perfect rock picked out and he knew what he wanted to make her, even had the plans sketched out. But he didn’t feel confident in his abilities to carve what he wanted yet; he was close though, he could feel it. Just a few more rocks to practice on and he’d be ready.
The Tototar picked up one of the many practice rocks he’d gathered and began carefully taking bites from its hard surface. In little time it took the shape of a simple pawn chess piece. He smoothed the shape out by licking the rough edges with his sandpaper-like tongue. Happy that it was finished and he didn’t see any unforgivable flaws, he set the piece down and picked up another rock, doing much the same as before. This time, however, he carved a harder piece, the knight. Again, once satisfied, he set it down and picked up another rock, starting again on something else. This continued until Aggro had an amalgamation of different chess pieces and other various figurines of the same size. He felt ready, all his practicing looked to be paying off.
Confidence brimming, he grabbed the stone he’d chosen for Zoey’s special gift. He’d found it while digging with his parents one day in the large mine that the family owned. It was a shiny, clear rock that his parents informed him wasn’t a precious stone, just a simple quartz. He didn’t care if they didn’t consider it precious, he saw the potential in it.
Aggro brought the quartz to his mouth and took a bite. Instead of his sharp teeth cutting straight through the rock, it met it with a hard “clink.” Surprised, Aggro pulled the stone away and looked at it, head tilted to the side. He’d never met anything that he couldn’t eat through. This definitely put a halt to his plans. He set the rock down on the table and placed his head in his hands, staring at it. Well, now what? Aggro sighed.
Maybe he wasn’t biting hard enough? He shrugged and thought he might as well try; he didn’t have any other ideas currently. So, he got a good grip on the rock and placed it towards the back of his mouth. He was careful not to place it where he’d lose an essential piece, just in case this actually worked. Biting down, he was met with the same resistance, so he bit down harder. It wasn’t budging. He bit harder. Still nothing. Aggro growled, trying to break the rock… or his teeth trying.
As his irritation mounted, a dark energy started to glow around his teeth. The energy grew until he felt his teeth slice effortlessly through the quartz. Blinking, he pulled it away to look at it. It was a nice, clean cut. So, apparently he just had to get mad at it? This would be interesting. Aggro sighed again and got to work.
After several, hard-working hours, Aggro had the shape of a princess’s tiara roughed out. Now all he had to do was smooth the edges and presto, it was done. Worried he might be cutting it close, he looked at the clock. Luckily, he still had about an hour before Zoey would be home. He’d been hoping he would’ve been done by now so that he’d have some time to rest. He shrugged and thought, “Oh well.” Back to work.
“Nah, I’m okay, mom-“ Zoey’s reply was halted as she rolled inside to see Aggro holding a tiara out for her. “Oh, Aggro, is that for me?” Tears welled up in her eyes as she smiled and ushered him closer. He placed it on her head; relieved it fit. Before he got a good look, he was met with a strong hug from her, which is happily returned, smiling almost as broadly as she was.

Dear Diary,
My dearest Zoey told me to jot down a few things that I've found to be positive about my change from a normal Pokemon to a human like being, that has attributes of both my lineages. She believes this will help me in my world view and keep it positive.
Positives: ~Opposable Thumbs: Well, fingers in general, really. I've found it so much easier to hold and carve rocks now. I'm able to acutely adjust the angle at which I hold the stone much more effortlessly, resulting in a better finished product. ~I'm Not the Only One Affected: I've met at least three others that have gone through this change as well; one of which is my friend, Carwyn, the shiny Drapion. The other two were these two girls I met in the mountains, Lilly and Honey. Allow me a moment to gush on Carwyn for a moment, if you will. He was always magnificent, but since our change, I've felt a certain fondness, if you will. I cannot stop looking at his form. If I were a better sculptor, oh, how I wish to carve statues of his physique! So elegant and beautiful and creature! ~Uniqueness: Though I did say others have changed, I've yet to see another Larvitar, much less another hybrid like myself. I will not lie and say that this does not make me feel special. ~Job Hunting: Once I'm older, I can go job hunting and help the family earn a little more money. Mother and Father already help Mr. and Mrs. Gypsy enough; I feel I'm in the way most of the time.
I'm going to put negatives down too, since it really doesn't seem realistic to put one and not the other.
Negatives: ~Relearning How to Do Simple Things: That was a challenge, especially relearning how to walk with these longer limbs. ~Having to Wear Clothing: This is going to sound rather uncouth of me, but I cannot stand wearing these clothes. ~Needing to Eat More: Granted, I do not need to take away from the family's already minimal income, I do have to go out more often to find rocks to munch on. My pile that I would move from one side of the backyard, to the other has been greatly depleted do to my ravenous hunger. Mother says it is because I am a growing boy.
