✰Caught by the Music★Ran into some witchling boy today.
He was pretty quiet and pleasant to talk with. Has amazing skills when it comes to the piano.
Oh and he's also apparently a Majin. Who'd have thought!
I like him and wouldn't mind hanging out with him some more.

✰ Anticipation for a Move ★
{739 words}He really didn't need that pair of socks. Or that one. Why did he have so many pairs? Or right. Mom loved sending them as gifts. They were simple and easy. Though she did tend to go all out during birthday's. It was the other holiday's she found excuses to send socks and small miscellaneous things on. He just added those to the bag full of other 'do not need/want' items. It was getting a tad full, but not too bad. He DID like some of the miscellaneous things he acquired. Just not...that many pairs of socks.
Lycander smiled as he stood, now finished with his clothes clean-out. Sure there was still several things he held on to and really didn't need, but he did like having extra clothes that could be added in some interesting yet not clashing fashion to outfits. No he was not a fashionista. He just had good tastes, alright?
Stretching, he dragged the bag over to a corner of the small room that was considered his 'living room'. The apartment he currently resided in was small but suitable for a single person. Like himself. Would have been cramped with two. Only one bedroom and bathroom. A combination living, dinning room, kitchen took up the rest of the living space. And a tiny patio. Really, he loved it and had enjoyed living here. He just felt it was time to move on to a new location. Actually move out of Makai in general. The redhead had been here for several years now. First moved into a dorm when he studied at the Academy. And then found an apartment in the small quiet town afterwards. He still wasn't sure what had kept him here, and he had to admit that recently, he'd felt more attached to the Academy town. He even had a really good friend to visit now!
Yet...yet it was just time. Lycander could feel it deep down. It was time to move. Time to step out and begin a new adventure somewhere else.
With a sigh, he moved towards the kitchen to start packing the box in there. His lease would be up in a week. However in a few days he would be able to get keys to his new apartment in Lumena. He smiled at this thought. The lovely Shea would probably be delighted to hear that he was moving to her own hometown. He had thought of moving back home with his family, but he enjoyed his independence away from them. Loved being seen as an adult and not their darling little boy. He'd even considered getting a place in Moonfall. Lycander couldn't really say why Lumena had won the honor of him searching for residence in. Perhaps it was just that he'd never been there before? Or some foreshadowing of something to come by his moving to a town he didn't even know? The redhead didn't know. Though, there was one thing that was for sure. He was excited.
Dropping a few plates and bowls into the box, the redhead grinned to himself. This time, he'd chosen to have a roommate again. He'd had one when he was at the dorms, then chose to live on his own in his current unit. It had been nice, yet Lycander found he'd craved company terribly. Enough so it usually kept him out of his home to wander about and meet new people to socialize with. However he didn't actually have anyone he could really ask to room with him. So he'd signed himself up through a program that would match him up with another seeking a roommate. The program would supposedly match him someone that was best qualified to balance his own profile.
Yesterday, he'd gotten word that they had indeed found him a suitable roommate, instead of it being listed as pending. Though he didn't know his roommates name or anything about them. It was apparently against regulations for them to discuss personal information on their applicants, even though he was being roomed up with this applicant. Though the sweet old lady that had helped him had assured him this would be a fantastic roommate for him.
He just had to wait three days to meet them. SIIIIGH! Something to look forward too on top of the move in itself!
Lycander chuckled softly. Oh yes, he was definitely ready for a change. He just hoped it was a spectacular one.

Totally got the wonderful surprise of meeting my roommate for the first time today.
By some strange fate, it's the one person I'm really good friends with and like.
I hope the Majin enjoys me as a roommate. Am SO EXCITED!

✰ Moved In and What a Surprise! ★
{616 words}Sprawled out for the very first time in his new room on his new bed and staring at a plain white ceiling, Lycander had a stupid grin on his face. Even after all the shopping around they had done today, and the heavy pull of sleep tugging at him, the redhead lay awake and stare. He still could not believe his luck! This morning, he had not thought it was possible to find a roommate he not only liked but knew!
The shock that had mirrored his own when his friend walked through the door had ignited the rest of his system into 'overly happy puppy' mode. Was probably a really good thing he wasn't actually a puppy. He totally would have piddled on the floor from so much excitement. Great way to move into your apartment, right?
Requiem....
He'd met the Majin young man at the Academy. The pale haired one was shy and quiet, yet Lycander had felt an instant spark of like. He had started to make it a habit of visiting the Academy during the hours classes were usually over to visit Requiem and listen to him play the piano. And goddamn was that such a thing to hear! The redhead had always thought it was cheesy how those girls in movies would swoon over a piano. Even if Lycander could admit it was a fine sexy thing to watch and listen to someone produce amazing music from the keys. But Requiem had shown him just how possible it was to swoon over a piano. Something he had mentioned once in joking but otherwise kept to himself.
No need to chase away a new friend because you adored his piano skills that much. Or found it hot...
Anyways, back to his excitement.
It had been pretty apparent that Requiem too had been a little anxious about a roommate. Yet there had seemed to be genuine relief and pleasure that they had been paired up. He could still hear that soft voice whispering that he was glad to have him as a roommate. It still made Lycander smile and his toes curl in pleasure. That was a good sign, wasn't it? It meant they were hitting it off pretty nicely on day one! And Requiem hadn't seemed put off by his usual rapid and enthusiastic personality. Double plus there. Lycander knew that some people had issues keeping up with him, yet Requiem almost seemed to balance him out. Where he talked a mile a minute at times, his roommate was fairly quiet. Where the redhead was energetic, Requiem was calm.
As he stared up at the ceiling, Lycander felt his lids get a little heavier. And his mind informed him that the ceiling (and walls for that matter) were too white and boring. Well. He was going to fix that. Later. After some sleep. He had ideas for how to paint his room and even had some for Requiem's room. His roommate had been a little unsure of himself when it came to getting essentials and furniture. Room had been amusing. But Lycander felt they'd done well. Requiem at least seemed to like his suggestions and even picked out a couple things on his own.
Came out of his shell a little. He mused. This was good for he at least knew that Requiem was comfortable around him. Ceiling needs something. Lycander pondered while his thoughts started to switch lazily from one thing to another until things weren't making very much sense.
With a small smile and a soft sigh, he let sleep take him while his mind painted in image of a few possible ideas for room decorating the next few days.

✰ Miss You and a little Roommate 101 ★

We are so happy to hear that you successfully found an apartment in Lumena! Still very bummed that you aren't coming back to your hometown. Moonfall misses you dearly, Lye. Oh alright your father and I miss you! And Kaden, Carson, and Zoey. Oh speaking of your brothers, they want to plan a trip down there to check out your new 'pad'. And have a general guys weekend. Or something like that. Y'know how it goes, Lye. New toy, boys all have to have a go at it. I think they just don't want to actually admit they miss their little brother.
Z is looking into going to the Academy now, though we are not sure how well she will do yet. I don't think her ability has quite surfaced. But she seems to have some. Maybe sending her to the Academy will do her some good? Kaden and Carson made a trip down to the arbor a week ago. They were thinking of finding residence there or maybe jobs. But no luck on either. I don't think they really want to leave Moonfall. Though Carson says he'd like to check out Lumena as well. You should talk to him, have him come down and visit so he can check out the town. Show him around and all that. Kaden will most likely stick around Moonfall. I believe he said he had a couple job possibilities he was checking out.
While speaking of boys in general, so I hear you have a roommate, do you? Nice boy is he? We shall very much want to meet him. And don't try and weasel out of it! We'll come to you if necessary, Lye. Consider yourself forewarned.
Now, as your mother, I probably am not the best one to be bringing this up. But dammit, Lye, you better watch yourself living with another boy. Don't get yourself caught up in an uncomfortable situation where your roommate doesn't know you are gay. It won't go well. Even for someone as charming as you are, sweetness. And don't jump into any relationships right off the bat either! Lye, you will just ruin any chance of things going well with a roommate if you do. Oh and don't flirt! For goodness sakes, try and keep your flirting to an absolute minimum. I know you don't always realize you're doing it, but that is a sure fire way to make things get extremely awkward.
Unless your roommate is gay too. Then I have no further comment. Oh your father has his two cents to throw in - Keep it in your pants!
We miss you, Lye and hope to see you soon as well as your roommate! He does sound like a darling boy from the letter you sent after your move in. Expect to hear from me again soon. Especially if you haven't arranged for a weekend where either you come here or we come there.

✰Tonight, Tonight★Something woke me from sleep. Couldn't shake the feeling I had either.
Went out to splash some water on my face and found my roommate in the bathroom.
He looked to be in so much pain. Of course I acted without thinking and tried to help.
I now know what one of his episodes look like.
So I can act faster in the future.

✰ An Episode of....wait, what... ★
{792 words}Perched on the couch, legs curled up with a book in his lap, the redheaded witch relaxed and enjoyed the lazy time he was spending with Requiem. In a way at least. His roommate was currently playing the piano while Lycander attempted to read. Something that normally was not this difficult. Since having sat down on the couch and opening his book, he'd made it seven pages before finding that he'd read the same paragraph half a dozen times now. Clearly, something else was on his mind and demanding his attention right this second.
And he knew what it was. He just had been avoiding thinking about it.
With a soft sigh, the redhead let his gaze stare unfocused at the pages opened to him. So his roommate would think he was still reading should he glance over. His roommate. Requiem. That was where his mind wanted to focus. Or, more specifically, on what had occurred only a few nights ago.
Lycander knew about Majin. Knew what they were and had come to understand what it meant to be one as he grew closer to his roommate. They weren't that different from humans, though Lycander personally didn't see any difference between them except a classification. He also now understood what it meant for a Majin to hunger. What could happen. What did happen. How it occurred, what it felt like, oh he knew first hand now.
Because he'd been on the receiving end of a Majin in a feeding lust.
It had only been brief. A matter of seconds really. But enough. He'd felt the drain of his power. Felt how his body seemed to grow fatigued, like he'd been out running all day. The strange sense of seeing yet not seeing your power be pulled out of oneself. Had it freaked him out? Hell yes! Did it still scare him? No. He'd been startled that night, not knowing what was wrong with Requiem and definitely not expecting what had happened.
When he'd discovered his roommate in the bathroom by accident, he'd looked to be in so much pain. All rational thought fled the redhead to be focused entirely on 'what the hell is wrong?!'. Did he need to take his friend to the hospital? Need to get something for him? What had happened to cause such pain? Was there anything he could do to help? All had crossed his mind at the same instant his eyes had landed on Requiem sitting on the floor all but curled in on himself. Just the sight of him alone had been enough to shake the sleepy haze he still had floating around his head and prompt him into action. Which had been to approach a friend in need, intent on helping him in whatever way possible.
He inhaled deeply and flipped the page absently to keep up his ruse. So, how did this change his relationship with Requiem? That was the big question wasn't it? And Lycander knew the answer without having to even think. There was no change. So his best friend hadn't told him about the episodes he suffers? The redhead didn't blame him. He was so shy and kept to himself almost all the time. All that had started to change only very recently, with Requiem becoming his roommate. Lycander didn't judge him. Didn't see him as anything other than the young man he liked.
And that will never change.
Sure there were going to be more instances of Requiem suffering episodes. And Lycander was positive there would be more than one case of the Majin managing to siphon some of his magic. However he knew what to expect now. Knew what to do. And damned how he managed to remember it so clearly during that night. But I did. And that is proof enough of how I feel. There had been no thoughts whatsoever of running away, fleeing from his roommate. No disgusted or repulsed thoughts. Only finding those headphones and helping his friend.
Lycander glanced towards the Majin sitting at the piano. Yes. He was happy with this arrangement. With having Requiem for a roommate. And he would be better, faster even, next time in getting music to him. Because music was the key. And so was a caring friend. Both of which Requiem had.
Yes. I am happy. And feel no fear towards you, my friend. He thought with a small smile curling the corners of his lips. His emerald eyes lowered to the book he held once again. Flipping back a page, Lycander found he was able to get past the paragraph he'd been stuck on, mind clearer and focusing coming a little easier as he listened to the hypnotic and beautiful music his best friend created.

It was a very pleasant dinner full of surprises.

{484 words}What was he doing? That was the question that kept ringing over and over through his mind. Just what the hell was he doing?! Was this right? Should he have let his feelings out like he had? Lycander knew that Requiem was very confused about his own feelings. But the Majin seemed to know, if not for sure, then strongly knew he liked what he felt. And the cuddling. And kissing.
Kissing...
Lycander sighed into his pillow. He was currently laying on his stomach with a pillow clutched to his chest and chin resting on top of it. The redhead would not lie. He had very much enjoyed kissing Requiem. A lot. Too much, maybe?
Well curses! While he was at the 'too much' guilt trip, he liked his roommate. Liked his roommate much more than he should. Requiem was his roommate for cyrin' out loud! Was that even proper? Better yet, did he actually care? Nope. Not a chance. Lycander knew how he felt. Knew that it wasn't going away anytime soon. If anything, it was only growing. The more time he got to spend with Requiem, the more he was sure about his feelings for the other young man.
When had his feelings taken a shift though? Yes he'd thought the Majin was cute the first time he met him. And thought his golden gaze was gorgeous. But it had been nothing beyond that. At least not right away... So when? He was pretty sure it wasn't until after they had moved in together. Yes. Yes that was it. After they moved in and became roommates. And he started to see even more of those barriers Requiem erected around himself drop. See the side that no one else ever saw. And that's when he started to feel more than just 'hey, you're adorable!'.
And the night he'd found Requiem in the bathroom, suffering from one of his episodes, Lycander had actually realized how he felt. The fear and helpless feelings he'd gotten, watching as his friend had suffered had made his heart squeeze. It was no wonder why he thought of nothing but helping Requiem instead of running for the hills. He couldn't. Wouldn't leave him.
And I won't ever leave. He thought, rolling onto is back and folding his arms behind his head. And I will wait as long as you need, my friend. Figure out your own feelings. You know mine and they won't change. With a sigh, he closed his eyes and winced a little as he realized he was going to have to mention something about this to his family at some point. Great. That was going to be like lighting a firecracker!
One step at a time, Lycander. Work things out with Requiem first. Then clue the family in. Yes. For now, he would continue to be patient and wait. It was the least he could do.
