Hello Zatao: Arrival in Katarina
Yet another boat had arrived to the harbors of Katarina Town. The passengers were all exiting, and a cheery looking red-head glanced over the railing as she walked along. "So this is Zatao, eh? Reminds me too much of Lilycove City!" Letting out a hearty chuckle, she kept moving along so the people behind her didn't complain too much.
Only once the boyish-looking woman made it off the boat did she toss a Pokeball out to release a Pokemon. In a friendly voice, she called out "Time to play, Dakota!"
After a burst of energy, a black tailless Growlithe stood there and let out a happy bark. The nub which the puppy Pokemon had left wriggled rather frantically and showed her teeth. With a huge smile of her own, the trainer said in a higher pitched voice "Oh lookit that smile! Who's a happy girl?!" The puppy seemed to react to the word "smile" and showed her teeth even more, seeming more like a snarl than a smile. However, there was no growling, and the Pokemon's nub kept wiggling.
Fortunately, the girl didn't have too much luggage. In fact, she only had a bucket and a backpack. "Come on Dakota, let's go find some sort of fountain!" Knowing the Growlithe liked to play, she began to run, fully knowing that her Pokemon would go chasing after her.
It would take a while, but eventually the redhead came across a fountain that sparkled in the light due to all the change in it. She lowered a brow as she looked into the water. "I take it th' pipes aren't exactly clean. Th' water quality is horrible!" Dakota didn't seem to have a problem with the water. In fact, she hopped up onto the edge of the fountain and began to walk around on it.
"Well, 'opefully she won't be too upset by the water..." Tossing up another Pokeball, she called out "It's yer time t'shine, Venus!"
In the fountain, a Feebas of beautiful colors appeared. Her silver eyes glanced side to side as it took in the environment. Only her lower half of her body was covered in water, so she was still exposed to the air, but at least she was getting water over her gills. The Pokemon let out a dissatisfied "Feebas..." before giving her owner a displeased look. The fish Pokemon's call attracted the attention of the puppy Pokemon, who immediately perked up and ran to the familiar fish.
"Yeah, I know Venus... I'll get somethin' better soon. I just got to get situated." She'd pat the Pokemon on the back, before reaching into her backpack to look for something to appease both of her Pokemon.
First she'd attend to her unhappy fish with a dry Pokeblock. The Pokemon gobbled it up, and though her seemingly expressionless face didn't change, the Pokemon let out a pleased "Feebas..."
Next, the redhead pulled out a block of what seemed to be cheese. It was Miltank cheese, and though the puppy would eat nearly anything, the Pokemon seemed to like such a treat. "Now, Dakota, you have to work for your food. Now, paw!" Eagerly, the Growlithe gave her owner her left forepaw. "Very good!" With that, she tossed up the chunk of cheese, to which the puppy goggled down (but not without coughing up half of it to eat it again).
Chuckling a bit, the girl fluffed up her own hair a bit before looking up to the sky.
"So this is Zatao, eh? I've got a lot of work t'do!"

I have finally arrived in Zatao, and so far I can't say I'm too impressed! I guess a country girl like me wouldn't be all that attracted to the hustle and bustle of this place. I didn't bring much with me to start with, since it is just easier to just ship the luggage through the mail.
I've settled down in a hotel for now until I can find some place to set up shop. So far I've wandered around this town and I've found several shops, the battle arena, a park, and the Pokemon Center.
The park will be a good place to hang out. Dakota needs lots of exercise so the park is ideal for her to run around in. They have a small lake in the park too, and though the water isn't all that pure, Venus can get out for a swim as well there.
So far my poor girl, Venus, isn't taking Zatao all that well. Maybe once I get a tank set up for her, she'll get into a better mood. Dakota, on the other hand, has been enjoying everything and everything. She's always liked investigating new things. I'm sure it seems like an exciting adventure.
I'll send Ma a letter and get the rest of my things sent out here. In the meantime, I need to get busy finding a place to stay. I think I could find something along the harbor, towards the shore. It looks like they have a few places for rent there. I need to make sure I have enough money. Quicker I find a place, the quicker I can get to work at last!

I am surprised at how fast the postal system is these days! I wonder if they use Pidgeots to do the deliveries out here in Zatao. Either way, Ma wrote me back. She says that she and Pa both miss me, along with all the Pokemon as well. I guess I can see that, since I did help out with all sorts of chores. She also mentioned how she sent off my things and how they should arrive here in Zatao shortly. Obviously it has to go in a ship too, since I don't think any Flying-type could carry my suitcases all that readily. Ma also sent me some money, she called it my "first month's rent." I have a sneakin' suspicion that Ma's going to make this a habit!
Dakota, Venus, and I have been making trips everyday to the park. I don't think Dakota has met a single trainer so far she didn't like. Not much of a guard-dog, is she? Venus hasn't been such a social girl though. I'm sure she's just looking forward to being in a tank rather than a Pokeball for a majority of the day.
It seems everything will calm down soon. I finally located a place by the harbor. The rent is fair, but the place itself needs a lot of renovation. It's basically just a hollow shack. However, I can easily fix one room to be a bedroom for me and another room for reception. A majority of my tanks and storage will be outside, so I don't need a large building. I guess since Ma sent that rent money, I should use some of my money I brought with me for food and renovations. Hopefully I have enough to make it until I can open up shop.

I have been so busy that I've not been able to write much down lately. However, all of the work I needed to get done is finally done. The place is spruced up and looks like a professional shop. And more importantly, Venus now has a place to swim around. Finally got the tank in the back all set up, but I also have a large tank set up inside the building. I need to get myself more Feebas so I can fill up my tanks in the back.
The two different tanks are meant for two different things though. The tank inside is for display, so that customers can see how beautiful my Feebas are. And the tank outside is for breeding purposes. The tank inside is large enough for maybe 2 Feebas, but the tank outside is far larger and probably able to hold 20 Feebas. If only I had 20 Feebas, I think my life would be complete!
Dakota has been investigating the tank outside quite a bit, since it has a platform where she can jump on top of it and look into the tank. The tank itself is somewhat rounder than most tanks of this variety, so that silly puppy Pokemon just trots around in circles, without a care in the world. So much for being a guard-puppy!
I am pleased to say that I've met a few people while I've been out here. You could even say that some of them are friends. I hope some of them stop by soon so they can admire all the hard work I put into this place.

Things have slowed down a lot out here. After I finished cleaning up my place, I've basically just been sitting around. A breeder can't get much work done if they don't have two Pokemon to breed together.
Venus seems to be in a much better mood lately though. I think it has to do with the fact she doesn't have to stay in her Pokeball as much anymore. I can't imagine being stuck in a Pokeball, personally. However, Venus has had the full reign of the indoor tank, and occasionally I'll take her to the larger tank outside so she can exercise.
I've been taking Dakota to the park daily, but I don't think it's enough exercise for her. I've heard about the battle facilities out here, and I think that might be a good way to give that silly puppy some extra exercise. Nobody likes a slow and lethargic Growlithe!
I'm going to start fishing at the docks, mainly in hopes that I catch a Pokemon for Venus to breed with. I would prefer to not taint the breeding eggs with other Pokemon genes, but I don't know how common Feebas are in this area or not. Feebas were rare in Hoenn, so I don't think they'd be swimming in every stream and pond. Wish me luck!

Log Book Notes: 04/12/09
After a couple months of fishing, I have finally found a good fishing spot! Or more specifically, a spot where I can catch wild Feebas. I was beginning to wonder if there would be any local areas where I could catch that beautiful Pokemon.
Dakota has been my fishing companion. She isn't exactly the most patient of Pokemon when it came to the activity. Being a Growlithe, she likes to run around and keep active, and when I am sitting along the dock and waiting for what seems like nothing, it drives her nuts. Lately, I've been a bit smarter and get her to run around on the coast line before we get started. That way, she's more tired and more likely to just take a nap next to me while I work and wait.
Despite running Dakota up and down over and over again, she didn't seem in the mood to settle down today. I sat there and she kept rubbing her nose against the fishing pole, as if to tell me she was bored. However, I stayed my ground. Not going to let a Pokemon tell me what to do. Either way, one time I cast my line out, and Dakota decided it would be a good time to throw her paw against the pole. It didn't cause any damage, in fact, the cast was still quite good. So I let it slide.
I guess if it hadn't been for that silly puppy's paw, I wouldn't have gotten the catch I did. Soon enough, I had a bite, which I reeled in. On the line was a strangely colored Feebas. I don't think I've ever seen one so brightly colored. Maybe the Zatao region has a tropic strain of these fish Pokemon? Either way, on the first catch, I had gotten a male! This means I can get started on breeding Feebas.
However, we'll have to see how Venus takes to the new tank-mate.

Who woulda thunk it?
"Ne'er seen it this blue col'r before!" the redhead mused as she stretched out a piece of elastic goo from her mouth. Phoebe was a simple type of girl who had grown up on a ranch. They didn't get such luxuries as blue bubblegum or fancy Pokeballs.
The Feebas Breeder had just gone to the local department store and bought many basic supplies, including a new brush to sweep the algae off of the fish tanks. She tried to keep it simple, however, a display with packs of blue bubblegum caught her eye. As a result, she was now chewing on the treat, admiring the unique flavor and the strange color. She toted about a couple bags filled with her new supplies as she made her way home. Trotting along at her heels, the ever constant bodyguard, Dakota, was doing her job as best as she could.
True, the puppy Pokemon was very easily distracted by this funny smelling substance which her trainer was chewing on. Why was Phoebe not sharing? Wasn't it a rule that if you had food, you were supposed to share it with your local Dakota? The black Growlithe gave her trainer big brown puppy eyes. Fortunately, it did not work in the slightest on the freckled girl. Phoebe was well trained in the art of ignoring the puppy eyes.
However, something eventually caught the nose of the puppy. Though she was well trained, sometimes that sniffer of hers got the Growlithe in trouble. With her nose sniffing rather loudly, she began to meander in a direction completely different from where Phoebe was heading.
"Eh... what'cha doin' girl?" the trainer asked as she leaned over. However, she got no response, as the puppy continued on its merry way, sniffing up a storm. The freckled girl rarely observed Dakota using Odor Sleuth. Phoebe picked up the pace, causing her bags to rustle loudly, but Dakota picked up the pace as well, and no matter how hard the girl tried, she was nothing in comparison to the puppy. It wasn't long before she lost sight of her Pokemon.
"Dakota! Come 'ere, girl!" she called out as she continued to trail behind her energetic Pokemon. It took a good 2 minutes and 28 seconds, but when the redhead caught up, her eyes grew wide as what she saw.
Dakota had located a blue glob of gelatin (or so it seemed) and was now poking her nose into it. To a Pokemon trainer, it definitely was a sight for sore eyes.
"...A... a ditto?" The trainer eased closer, trying to make sure it wouldn't attack her pointlessly. Once next to Dakota, she tapped her under the chin, in which the puppy promptly sat her rear down. Though Phoebe got closer to the wild Pokemon, it didn't really move much. "Ay, ya alright, little bugger?"
The ditto didn't budge, but it let out a weak "...Dit..?"
The breeder did not like the sound of that weak call. Placing a finger on her chin and tapping it gently, she tried to think of a possible pick-me-up for the transform Pokemon. Potions might help, but maybe the Pokemon was hungry? Glancing to her bags she brought with her, she sighed and began to dig through them. She pulled out a few different colored pastries, but only one pink poffin managed to land right next to the blue goo. Dakota whimpered a bit, because she still wasn't getting any treats.
The ditto inhaled the treat in about 5 seconds. Its little beady eyes blinked a bit, and it seemed to bounce up, peering at the breeder with eager eyes.
Phoebe smiled and greeted the Pokemon carefully with a simple "Hey little critter!" She had a couple Pokeballs on her, though she had been hoping to save them for breeding. "Were you just hungry?"
The blue blob nodded as best as a blob could, bouncing its body up and down slightly.
"Would ya like t'go home with me? I could use a Pokemon like yerself fer breeding!" Phoebe smiled nervously, hoping this would not scare the little Pokemon away.
The ditto bobbed up and down again. Dakota couldn't help but wonder what flavor this Pokemon had as the blue blob moved about.
Phoebe then pulled out a Pokeball from the bag and tossed it at the Ditto. The blob turned into a red light and got sucked into the sphere. The ball wiggled a bit, but it eventually stopped moving. Phoebe sighed and patted her puppy on the head. "Ya did a good job, good girl!" The trainer leaned over and tossed one of the Poffins she pulled out at the Growlithe, who gobbled it up in a whole 3 seconds. After she put all over her items away, she finally picked up the Pokeball.
"Nice t'have ya on the team, Bubblegum!"

Super Puppy Saves the Day: Rocket HideoutRP Participants: LizzyMoo Trainers: N/A for this RP Pokemon: Dakota, 4 Electrike RP located here!Transcribed from the Camp Xine Event. This day was just too long. Dakota had just about knocked her own brains out in an attempt to open up a door. Flare Blitz was nobody's best friend. The poor puppy Pokemon somewhat stumbled to her feet and trudged along behind the rest of the other Pokemon. Her mood wasn't dampened in any sense, but she just had a huge headache. One paw moved in front of the other. Dakota knew this because her eyes were paying more attention to the floor rather than what was going on in front of her.
Maybe she should have been paying attention to in front of her instead. The group ended up bringing the black Growlithe to a room that literally made Dakota's fur stand on end. It wasn't from anger, but just from the electricity dancing in the air. Only when her hair was on end did the puppy's brown eyes glance up towards the scene.
Perhaps the puppy Pokemon had a one track mind, or maybe she did not recognize the Pokemon cruelty going on in front of her. Instead, she noticed that the Electrikes were puppies. And Dakota liked puppies. Her little stub of a tail wagged from side to side and she trotted in as if nothing was wrong. She attempted to sniff the rear end of the spotted green electric type in greeting. Instead of having another damp puppy nose pushed towards her, she had teeth lunging at her. Dakota did not like this. She backed away with a bit of a yelp and looked at her paws as if to check that she was still okay. Despite the appearance which Dakota could observe, she actually had taken a pretty harsh n** to the shoulder which had broken the skin slightly.
The black puppy let out a bit of a grunt and looked to the other Electrike in the room. Every single one of them looked upset, their backs arched, ears flat against their heads, and their stances seeming quite stiff. She was not in the mood to get hurt twice. She lay down a decent distance away so she could not get attacked again and began to think. How could she get these puppies to play with her?
A few stray thoughts managed to linger through her simple mind, and she came up with a few conclusions.
Conclusion 1: This room was really messing up her fur. Conclusion 2: The strange harnesses were holding the puppies in place, preventing them from playing. Conclusion 3: If these Pokemon bit her, she would have to bite back this time.
Tending to the first issue, Dakota used Safeguard, which created a small glow around her body and shielded her from the static in the air. The puppy panted slightly in relief, since her fur being on end like that did bother her slightly more than having a flea on her neck.
The growlithe stood there for a moment and looked over the situation again. With a nod of her head, the black puppy then charged into the pile of Electrike. The first one she approached rather quickly was the green spotted companion from earlier. If there was one thing that Dakota could do well, it was Bite onto things. Her own trainer commonly had to buy the black Growlithe new toys for her to chew on, since they tended to get destroyed too quickly. Dakota put the metal between her teeth and started to chew. She felt the sting of teeth upon her hind leg, which she growled out and lashed back at the Electrike with her own set of fangs. She quickly went back to work, and just as she broke the piece of metal, she got a swift zap to her body.
Yelping slightly as she was thrown back a bit, Dakota landed within the range of the first Pokemon she assisted. However, it did not attack. Instead, it huffed a short bark at her and went to the other side of the room and curled up. It was still not in a good mood (but who could blame it?) and did not seem ready to help its savior. The black Growlithe didn't realize that she had been shocked by the machine as she broke through the metal, but instead thought she got shocked by the Electrike. And in this simple puppy's mind, this would not do.
Dakota stood up once more and eyed the other three Electrike. Maybe if she moved around quicker, she could do a better job of not getting hurt? Nodding her head at her new plan, she began to run swiftly, using her Agility to her advantage. Instead of focusing on just one strange harness, Dakota ran in, would Bite onto the machine and snap the metal off, then run around the remaining Electrike until she was ready for the next round. Though this plan was going well, for some reason, the puppy Pokemon was still getting shocked, which caused the Growlithe to grunt out. Maybe it was a mistake and if she did this again she wouldn't get hit. She ran in again, latching onto the metal on the harness and snapping it off again. This time she yelped as she felt the electric energy pulsing through her body rather harshly.
Her injuries from earlier and now were really getting to her. Dakota no longer had the stamina to continue using Agility. Her brown eyes darted towards the corner in which the freed Electrike had been gathering, spying 2 green Pokemon and 1 gray Pokemon. Her eyes danced into the opposite direction and locked onto the blue Electrike. Would this one want to play after losing the strange harness? Dakota edged closer to it, her steps a bit heavier than before. The blue Electrike snarled at the black puppy, warning her to keep away. Would Dakota heed such warnings?
Apparently not, as she literally hoisted her forepaws on this Pokemon's back and began to Bite onto the contraption. Mid-chew, she felt another surge of electricity run through her, though this time it really was from the puppy she was trying to help. Apparently it decided to use Discharge to try and discourage her from doing anything more. Dakota's muscles in her mouth tensed solely due to the electricity surging through her. Her muscles tensed to the point where the sheer force of her gritting her teeth around the contraption broke the harness. The blue Pokemon wriggled out from under Dakota with its own grunt and went to join its companions.
Dakota flopped to the floor, much like a puppy pancake. She didn't really feel like playing much anymore. Her eyes were barely open as she looked to the other puppies. Just before her eyes shut, she managed to catch a glimpse of them beginning to approach her. Based off the aggressive behavior from earlier, she figured that the pack of Electrike puppies were going to attack. Her eyes were now shut, and she tensed her body, mentally wincing and preparing for the attack they were bound to do.
However, this was not Dakota's fate. Rather than attack, the 4 Electrike puppies huddled around Dakota, as if to try and protect their savior. Dakota smiled a small puppy smile, baring her teeth slightly before snuggling into the nearest fluffy-butt to take a well deserved rest. Maybe later they would want to play?

Tending to Wounds: Rocket HideoutRP Participants: LizzyMoo Trainers: Phoebe Pokemon: Dakota + Shiny Electrike RP located here!Transcribed from the Camp Xine Event.Phoebe couldn't help but chuckle nervously. What a crazy day it had been! Or at least it seemed like one day. The redhead couldn't help but ponder if maybe the group had been out longer than just a measly day. Fortunately, before they had left the room where the trainers had been stored, Dakota had located her bag, which was now slung over her back. They had exited through the bus garage, and when they thought they were Scott-free, the thunder beast appeared. Many of the trainers had gone to assist the legendary Pokemon, but Phoebe went and took refuge underneath a tree. It wasn't because she was cruel and supported Team Rocket. In fact, Phoebe disliked Team Rocket with all of her being. The problem was that Dakota was not in the best shape to fight. The breeder, taking pride in every single one of her Pokemon, knew that now was a time to tend to her puppy Pokemon's needs. Setting Dakota under the tree, Phoebe crouched down and began to dig through her bag. Though Phoebe and Dakota were out of the sight of many, they were not alone. One of the 4 Electrike had escaped the Rocket confines, and now had his own personal mission: Locate his savior. Stalking up behind the redheaded human, the stray blue Electrike approached, his eyes narrowed and glaring at the human. The black Growlithe, despite being injured, was aware something was approaching and let out a small "Growl!" to warn her trainer."What'cha doin', ya silly girl?" Phoebe attempted to reassure her Pokemon, still remaining clueless to the unseen companion. However, that seemed to be the final straw for the unseen Pokemon, for she suddenly felt her muscles tense up from an electrical charge. "Ow... what th'eck happened?!" she shouted slightly, pulling her hand away to nurse it slightly. The Electrike decided now it was time to protect his protector from this human. He jumped in front of the redheaded girl and snapped his teeth in her direction, growling in a protective manner. He eyed Dakota, then sunk his body lower to the ground, tensing his muscles so he could pounce if necessary.Phoebe blinked curiously, and couldn't help but ask "Eh... well that's strange... where'd ya come from, eh boy?" This Pokemon had a rather rare sort of coloration amongst its kind, and would make an excellent specimen for Ma and Pa's Ranch. And it seemed this Pokemon had no tags on it. All of that passed through her mind, and her main concern took precedence again. She had managed to scoop out a Super Potion from her bag, but this Electric Pokemon was clearly in the way. Using her hand, she gently guided the Electrike out of the way, her voice gently reassuring "I need ya outta the way, boy." Her hand was promptly introduced to the puppy's teeth. The Electrike growled fiercely onto the freckled hand, signaling that it was not okay for her to touch his new friend. However, he was soon greeted with a different set of fangs, which caused him to yelp out and release his grip.Dakota, though worn out, was still alert enough to do her #1 job: Protect Phoebe. Though she had been a nice and playful girl earlier, now she was seeing that her trainer was in danger. So she had nicely latched her jaws around this canine's hind leg. She let out her own fierce growl."Dakota! Drop it!" the trainer commanded, to which her Growlithe obeyed without question. "I think he's learned his lesson!" With that, she began to spray Dakota's wounds with the Super Potion. Initially, the Electrike watched cautiously as he nursed his own wounds. He couldn't help but wonder why the Black Growlithe from earlier would attack him now of all times? He thought back to his own actions and noted that she only injured him after the human had been injured. And now this human was tending to the Growlithe's injuries."'Ey! Got some Potion left. Let me see yer leg," the redhead casually requested as she reached out to grab the Electrike's leg. Not wanting to get a second injury, the blue Electrike let the human do as she wished, but let out a warning growl in case she decided to do something funny. Yet nothing happened. In fact, all that happened was that his leg began to feel better as this strange liquid was sprayed onto his injury.Dakota's own injuries had been fixed, so by the time the Electrike was well, she had already decided to introduce herself by sniffing the electric type all over. Her nub wagged and her nose puffed short bursts of air in and out of her nostrils.Phoebe smiled, then patted the Electrike on the head before putting the nearly empty bottle of medicine back into her bag. "So, do ya have anyone t'take y'home, boy?" she asked casually as she sat down, somewhat ignoring the situation dealing with the Raikou at the moment. "Trike!" the Pokemon barked out as he shook his head from side to side."Hmmm... that's too bad," Phoebe mused aloud. She then pulled something out of her bag that was familiar to nearly any Pokemon: A Pokeball. She rolled it along the ground so that it stopped in front of the Electrike. She didn't say anything aside from "The choice is yers." The blue Pokemon glanced first to the human, then to his savior, the black Growlithe. The fire type seemed extremely happy, and willing to protect this particular red haired human. That sort of happiness must have been something worth protecting.
With his own wet puppy nose, he poked the button on the Pokeball, and with a beam of red light, he soon enough vanished to take a short rest within the orb.Phoebe's freckled cheeks rose with a smile. As she picked up the Pokeball, she noticed that the situation dealing with the thunder beast had been tended to adequately. "It's good t'have ya on the team, boy!" She'd have to figure out a good name later. Glancing to her hand, she also decided she should probably get some shots in her near future, just in case.

Log Book Notes: 08/10/09
Things have been quite crazy here! I've been working on getting things ready for Venus and Adonis so that they can finally breed. I've had to reorganize the tanks, buy some new equipment, and start setting up prices.
However, there's been a lack of time for that, now with Bubblegum, Vegas and Dakota. The three of them have been rambunctious. It's one thing to have a pack of dogs, but it's another thing to have a wild and crazy pack of dogs. Bubblegum has been making a habit of transforming into whatever Pokemon it's playing with. It is very difficult to take care of three dogs at once, so I had to do something about it.
This past week, I actually had to send Vegas to my parents. I love dog Pokemon, but it was not the reason I came out to Zatao. My parents can give him the right amount of attention and training for now. With all the things I've been working on, I'd be a horrible trainer at best. It's for Vegas' own good! When he's a bit more trained, maybe I can have him come back here. From what I've seen of him, he'd make an excellent guard Electrike.
For now, I'm going to try to not go crazy while taking care of business. I got a letter from Grammy recently, and she said she's going to come and visit. I just hope that she or Gracie don't cause any trouble when she comes out here. The last thing I need is more insanity in my life.
