With another shot prepared, the black dog released the string and fired it at the mannequin. Unfortunately, like many before, it strayed from the target and landed somewhere along the ground, further off.

He was beginning to hope the horsemen wouldn't get mad at him for wasting perfectly good arrows.

YOU HAVE MY BOW!

The mannequin was staggering more than it had been before, and though it was still moving, it looked as though a single shot would bring it down. Needless to say, Tybalt was more than happy to see that through.

With a feral grin, the black dog raised the bow once again, arrow already nocked and ready to fire. He knew it couldn't hold up much longer and he was going to make damned sure this shot counted for something. Its not like he could miss now either, not unless he had a really bad shot. The thing had already covered more than half the distance it needed to reach the black dog. Which also meant, luckily for him, a larger target.

His grin grew wider as he released the bow string, watching the arrow fly once more through the air. It didn't matter now if it knocked the mannequin back or not. It just needed to hit. Just one solid hit and it should come crumbling down.

Thankfully, it had. The arrow lodged itself right in the neck of the mannequin, burying itself up to the feathers and forcing the animated object to the ground in a heap. This time once and for all.

Just when she thought that she would like to end the fight quickly, a knee was sent into her gut and the ghoul reeled back, clutching her abdomen in pain. It seemed that in that previous move, she too had left herself open and unguarded.

Now out of arms reach of the doll, the frost demon slipped into a defensive stance again, taking a few slow paces around the opponent. She could take her time with this, she reminded herself, attack and retreat, attack and retreat. Don't give the dummy any time to react and strike back.

Bringing the blade down over his head, the mannequin groaned softly when the blade connected. Herryk was able to move away before he took any sort of damage - that hit, while not entirely sturdy - and been his best so far.

Herryk wanted to do better.

YOU HAVE MY SWORD!

The last couple of days, the slimer began to feel more at home among the Horseman. He would have dressed like them if he could, but he managed by sticking a few feathers in his hair, and placed a few marks around his arm for the battles he has won and lost- so there wasn’t many. He still wished he could fly among them, but knew that he was just there to learn and observe.

Today, he was going to learn one of three basic weapons found with this clan, and these weapons are very basic ones found in most cultures. The dagger would have been suited for the agile slimer. He had always been pretty good at evasion, and lacking a normal sensory system, pain doesn’t affect him as much. He had already crafted one earlier and did show that he was fairly adept at making and using them, but the slimer didn’t choose it. He wanted to learn something else.

The bow intrigued the slimer. He had never used any kind of ballistic weapon before. He had seen paintings of archers, and has read about them in one of his many thousand visits to the library. He had wanted to use them to see how good his aim was. Though, he felt that it was a weapon which might require too much skill for him, so he went for the last weapon in the list.

The sword was new and it was simple. It seemed like most great heroes and villains in the stories he had read used the sword more than the bow or the dagger. The weapon was long and heavy, and it made it intimidating. The slimer clasped his fingers around its hilt and lifted. He measured its weight as he shook it in his hand a little, looking at where its weight was, and
swung it a few times, carefully, so he wouldn’t strike the others around him.

The slimer stood before an activated dummy, which held its own sword. The two inched forward, with swords in hand, swinging light against each other’s swords, as if to test the strength of each other. Then they swung heavily against each other, with slimer’s strike missing, but giving him enough time to parry the dummy’s attack with the flat side of his weapon.

“Ole!” He cried happily.

The slimer and the dummy took a few more swipes at each other, their reach was even but none was close enough for a successful hit. Each swing led to a block, as if they were taking turns at hitting each other’s swords. Each strike had brought them closer to a more lethal distance.

The dummy seemed to have found an open as it lunged forward with its whole body. It was close, but the slimer was able to watch the little tells that dummy seemed to have before it would attack. The slimer parried the attack easily deflecting the whole dummy to the side, and returning with a strike that would prove fatal to most creatures as he slid the weapon hard across the mannequin’s neck.

He swung the weapon with his torso that it also knocked the dummy down.

“Ole!” The slimer again cried happily.

A slip. The very smallest of stumbles came and Edel knew it that instant, it was her price to pay. A heavy leather fist slammed into her left shoulder and sent the impact down to her bones.

It hurt. A lot.

She could have avoid it, she should have avoided it, but for that moment she had given in to her growing exhaustion. Her battle spirit and her vigor were slowly waning as the fight – at this point, it was obvious that it had been drawn out for too long – continued to progress at its pace. It was now a mental battle with not only the dummy but herself. It was hard to constantly focus on the opponent for a long period of time, the reading into its movements and analysis of its behaviour quickly became dull. It was the worst kind of thing to fight with, complacency in battle, and it was something she had to fight off quickly before it's too late.
