YOU HAVE MY SWORD! Hefting the sword in his hand, Herryk rearranged his grip. Surely he would find something more comfortable, a more useful way to hold the weapon in his hand. It was strange how the callouses on his hand seemed to almost embrace the hilt of the sword. Comfortable - he just had to focus, to attune himself to the weapon, to use it as an extension of himself. Frowning at the mannequin, Herryk tried again. Another failure. He was starting to feel frustration at his performance. YOU HAVE MY SWORD!
Danny listened to Cybele's little lecture beforehand. Well half-listened. She was actually busy playing with the odd shiny tokens she'd found yesterday. Danny was sitting at the moment, and had layed them out in front of her like a small city, which she was the creator of. She loved her jackdamn town, because she was the ruler of all things good and scary. This little token was the mayor, and the stack of coins behind him was the mayor's office. This big token was Sally the shiny, and this was-
"Select a weapon and do battle."
Danny's attention was caught, and she was already stuffing the tokens back into her pocket. If there was something she loved more than Token-town (and arguably, there wasn't much), it was fighting. She was describing how daggers, swords and bows varied. Danny's eyes were instantly drawn to the swords- she was trained in ceremonial sword after all. Of course, she'd been using fake, plastic fencing swords, but ... well how different could it be!
After Cybele left them to choose a weapon, Danny decided to just stick with her guns. Really, how much harder could a real weapon be?
Turns out, a lot harder. The sword was a LOT heavier than her practice swords, and weighted oddly with her body. Not to mention she hadn't picked up a sword for a few years now- she was a flame demon, not a reaper after all. Danny weighed the sword in her hand, bouncing it up and down a few times. Apparently the dummy had other ideas though. As she examined the sword, the mannequin lurched towards her, but Danny brought her sword up at the last moment to parry with it, and countered with a slash across its stomach. Sweet Sally that had been a close one!
She'd have to focus, huh? Danny tried to picture the mannequin as Edel. Suddenly this battle was becoming a lot easier. Just imagine the blue poof of hair, and start attacking. She could do this.

YOU HAVE MY SWORD! Danny began walking around the dummy in slow, rhythmic steps. The meditation earlier had helped, whether she would admit it or not. Instead of jumping at the thing like she normally would, she was thinking about things. Where her center of balance was, where the dummy was dropping its defenses. Though she couldn't really ... FIND those things, she was focusing on them for the first time in her life.
She threw the sword forward, as an extension of her arm. Her instructor would have been overjoyed to see her progress. She was seriously useless as s**t as battle, but she was holding the sword right. That was such an improvement from when she was little.
It wasn't enough though. This dummy wasn't as mechanical as the one from yesterday. This one didn't follow her movements, lunging haphazardly, tripping over its own two feet. It was somehow picking up her movements, like it was learning.
Well s**t. Danny tried to dodge, but the lopsidedness of the sword's weight cast her off balance and the mannequin got a hit in. This was going to be a long fight!HP: 36/40 Damage Dealt: 0 Opponent's HP: 13/15 Damage Blocked/Evaded: No Previous Posts: Post 1

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER! Okay, she didn't like dragging stuff out, to be honest. Shehk made a point to make it quick, shifting her weight quickly and suddenly to maneuver around her 'opponents' arms before she solidly dug the blade into it, stepping back just as quickly as she'd stepped in.
Man, she could have taken up a job as an assassin with how clean that had been. Maybe.
Still, she was starting to feel better about being in this territory. She was improving every day. Getting better. Stronger? Maybe not. But smarter was what she could do. Even if her arms were going to be sore as hell later.HP: 40 Damage Dealt: 6 Opponent's HP: 1 Damage Blocked/Evaded: Yes - Beginner's Speed Boost Previous Posts: Post 1 Post 2 Post 3 Post 4

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER!Roch swiped with the dagger, cursing as he realized he'd overestimated his reach. The short little blade was something you really had to get in close with to use. The mannequin's dagger shot forward, hitting him in the arm and damaging his FEAR shield. Roch cursed himself, knowing that he could have dodged that if he'd been paying attention. Next time he wouldn't be so slow, he swore, pulling back and crouching slightly as they started to walk in a slow circle, looking for a sign of weakness. YOU HAVE MY SWORD! Danny swerved to her left, attempting to dodge the sword that was aimed at her neck. It seemed this dummy wasn't fooling around- it really meant business. Well maybe not business- after all they were only child's toys, but it knew what it was doing. The way it moved its sword- you couldn't fake that.
Blows came at her left and right. She tried countering with her fancy swivels, but it just wasn't working. Despite her ceremonial training, she really wasn't very good at the sword- at least, not as good as she thought she was. Her sword clashed with the mannequin's, but it was no use. She just wasn't making any ground.HP: 36/40 Damage Dealt: 0 Opponent's HP: 13/15 Damage Blocked/Evaded: Yes Previous Posts: Post 1 | Post 2

YOU HAVE MY SWORD! Both the dummy and Danny backed away for a moment, watching each other's movements. It was almost weird how well the dummy understood combat. Then again, that was its purpose, so of course it would be good.
Danny was pretty content with the way things were working out, actually. If the dummy had been easy she would've been proud, but disappointed. On the other hand, if it was too hard she would've felt like an idiot for being defeated by a child's toy. This was a nice equilibrium between the two.
"C'mon stupid dummy, strike me!" she bantered playfully. The dummy responded by thrusting forward with its sword, which swiped Danny across the side. She regretted provoking it and getting hurt, but it left the dummy's left side open. Danny immediately dove for the opening and hit the dummy with the blunt end of her sword, wielding it more like a baseball bat than a bladed weapon.
That was interesting in and of itself though. Danny had never really learned much beyond stabs and thrusts- to utilize it creatively was another matter entirely. Perhaps she was ... learning something?!HP: 32/40 Damage Dealt: 2 Opponent's HP: 11/15 Damage Blocked/Evaded: No Previous Posts: Post 1 | Post 2 | Post 3

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER! While he crouched there, Shun sought out any potential weakpoints of the mannequin. It was hard to say if there were any. It likely didn't have 'vitals' as most opponents would have. While he speculated on this, the thing charged at him once again. He simply shifted off to the side before slashing out, but at that point, it had moved out of the way. SWEET VICTORY!YOU HAVE MY DAGGER! Okay, it was time to end this. Still, Shehk looked to be pretty firm as she moved in and delivered the final blow on her dummy, taking a deep breath when it seemed to be ready to stop. Or rather, she'd made it less able to keep fighting against her.
She was a warrior.
Mighty huntress. Or something. Warrior Goddess. Man, she was going to get into a state of mind with that, actually. Probably would have been wise if she didn't. Still, when she was done, Shehk took a moment to look over the dagger she'd used to check it's condition before she returned it and went to go about some more exploring.HP: 40 Damage Dealt: 1 Opponent's HP: 0 Damage Blocked/Evaded: Yes - Beginner's Stealth Previous Posts: Post 1 Post 2 Post 3 Post 4 Post 5

YOU HAVE MY SWORD! Danny's guard dropped for just a moment and the dummy was upon her with a flurry of twirling sword strikes. It was almost impressive how the mannequin danced with the sword. Although it was just created, it was like it'd been working with a sword its whole life. Well ... technically it had!
She tried parrying and blocking as best she could, but it advanced past her defences- the dummy was better than it looked. Danny grimaced and took a few steps back, only to find her sword clashing and clanging with the metal of the dummy's sword once more. It was a battle of wits, and Danny was losing.
The dummy got her back a few steps with each slash, and Danny wasn't sure what to do. She was nearing the edge of the platform. Danny wasn't dying by any means, but she was begin pushed back. She actually bumped into one of the other fighting students. She mumbled an, "Oops sorry," and then continued trying to block the dummy. The horsewoman instructor just watched the entire time, not lifting a finger to help. Then again, why should she? This was Danny's fight. It wasn't her job to baby them- it was her job to teach them the basics and then let them learn.
Which was exactly what she'd done. Danny wished she would have payed attention to the lady's explanation now. She had no clue how to use this sword properly. She only knew fancy swerves and strange gestures- not proper battle techniques. The sword kept tumbling this way and that- Danny wasn't using the weight of the sword properly. She was pushed another step back.
If worse came to worse ... well at least there were nets to catch her.HP: 28/40 Damage Dealt: 0 Opponent's HP: 11/15 Damage Blocked/Evaded: No Previous Posts: Post 1 | Post 2 | Post 3 | Post 4

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER!The mannequin made the first move, slashing out at him with a quick motion, but Roch slipped out of range, frowning slightly as he stabbed at the mannequin, only to miss entirely. The distance, Roch thought. He had a greater amount of reach when he was using his guitar. He needed to learn to close the gap better. He feinted to the right, watching how the mannequin reacted, then took a step back, watching how it moved closer. Yeah... he almost had the distance down. Almost. This needed more practice. YOU HAVE MY SWORD! Danny was literally about to go over the edge. The tip of her wings brushed against the netting and she got tangled for a moment, losing her balance. s**t this was really not a good situation. She would fall off the edge and then everyone would laugh at her, and she'd fail the jackdamn class. The laughing stock of Amityville- the fire demon who couldn't fight.
No, what was she even saying. Danny dodged the next sword blow instead of blocking it with her sword, giving her room to turn around and kick the mannequin with her converse. Take that you stupid dummy!
She took the time the kick had bought her to turn around once more, shoulder the dummy with her right side and gain a few feet from the edge. Now SHE was the one pushing the dummy forward! Ha! Danny couldn't help but feel a little proud of her switcharoo. The real battled started now.HP: 28/40 Damage Dealt: 1 Opponent's HP: 10/15 Damage Blocked/Evaded: Yes Previous Posts: Post 1 | Post 2 | Post 3 | Post 4 | Post 5

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER!Roch moved in a step closer, his hand shooting out and stabbing the mannequin's arm. Even as the mannequin's arm was shooting out to stab him in return he was jumping back, out of reach. He had the dodging down okay, he thought, but he really wasn't getting IN like he wanted to. Of course, he probably should have picked the sword--it was closer to the same reach distance as his guitar, but what would the point have been had he done that? He'd come here to learn NEW things, and a dagger was absolutely new. Now he just had to learn it. YOU HAVE MY BOW!
Tybalt would have been lying if he wasn't excited about using the weapons. Sure using sticks, vines, and other various objects to kick a mannequin's a** was fun, but this was the real fun right here. This was the first time he got to hold a weapon and a fine one at that! Sure they weren't as fancy as some he had seen, but they were all well made and capable.
Eager to begin the training, the black dog looked among the weapons, remembering what Cybele had told them.
If he were to go by her advice, the dagger would have fit him best. He was quicker than he was strong, but in all honesty, neither the dagger, nor sword peaked his interest. What had his attention was the bow and arrows.
After the demonstration Cybele had displayed for them on the first day they came here, he had been itching to try one out for himself. Sure his results wouldn't be half as nice as hers, he was a beginner after all, but it didn't change the fact that he wanted to learn how to use one.
His choice made, he moved along the rack and picked up a dark coloured bow, followed by a quiver filled with arrows. All fletched with blue and green dyed feathers. Only once he had the quiver secured onto his back did he moved down to the left side of the platform.... where he was currently standing alone.
Huh... looked like everyone else had opted for the dagger or sword. No matter. If he was alone for the task, no would see his shoddy aim.
Shrugging, the black dog took his position, drawing an arrow from the quiver and resting it against the bow. He could easily see the mannequin at a far distance; now activated and slowly making an advance on the black dog. The rules were simple. He had to take it out before it reached him and took him out, otherwise he'd lose. Because like she had mentioned before. You cannot defend yourself with a bow like you could with a dagger or sword.
With that in mind, he let the arrow fly; listening to the soft hiss and whistle as it flew through the air. Which surprisingly, it hit, landing with a solid thunk. It wasn't perfect, but it was strong enough that it knocked the mannequin back a few feet. Thus giving the black dog enough time to draw another arrow.
