YOU HAVE MY BOW!

The mannequin was moving again, slowly recovering lost ground while Tybalt prepared the next shot. Which he did slowly; gripping both the the arrow and the string in one hand, while he brought the bow up in the other. Though this time, turning it slightly for a better angle. It wouldn't compromise the shot, but with it at this angle, he was able to, hopefully, get a better shot than he had when it was held vertically. That was the plan, but really, he doubted it would have any drastic changes in his performance. Regardless, he released it, hoping for the best.

"Come on... Land a good hit for me."

He must have done something right, because not only did it hit the mannequin directly in the chest, but it knocked it back off of it's feet.

"Yes!" He cheered, punching the air excitedly, only to snatch up another arrow from the quiver for his next shot.

YOU HAVE MY SWORD!

While she was rolling her shoulder, the mannequin was making plans. It immediately targeted her hurt shoulder, realizing Danny's weakness. It was trying to use Danny's disadvantage to his (her? Seriously, what gender was this?) advantage.

Danny wouldn't let it though. She brought up her sword at the last second, locking the dummy in battle. They were completely locked in a standstill for a moment, until Danny relented enough to utilize the momentum for herself. She swung her sword in a circle, releasing both of them.

She jumped back and stared at the dummy. She was going to need something more if she was going to beat it.

YOU HAVE MY BOW!

The victory was short lived, as the mannequin jumped back to its feet and began moving forward again. It was much closer than it was before. Hell, he could even make out all the crude stitches across it. Jeez, this was bad. If he didn't bring it down soon, it would be right on top of him. If that happened, it wouldn't matter how lucky his shots were.

....

Not a comforting thought.

Tensing again, the black dog fumbled the next arrow and instead of hitting the mannequin, it sailed right past the it, landing directly into a tree somewhere behind.

YOU HAVE MY SWORD!

She was going to do something daring. Something that might swing the tide and let her take the fight. Danny picked up her sword and chucked it straight at the mannequin.

For a moment, it was like everything was in slow motion. Then, all at once, things sped back up and the sword lodged itself in the mannequin's stomach. Danny could've cheered!

Except she realized after a moment that she was now defenseless, and needed her sword back. The mannequin knew it too, and immediately ducked, keeping the sword protected. Danny rolled her eyes and tackled the thing, just like in bruteball practice. "Gimme my sword back!" she screeched.

The dummy got a few good swipes at her, but eventually Danny managed to pull the sword out and roll to the side. She just sat there crumpled in a ball, waiting for the dummy to bring its sword down on her- the imminent death waiting her.

YOU HAVE MY BOW!

Cursing at his mistake, he reached for another. Trying his best to ignore that the mannequin was getting closer with each moment. He wasn't sure if he could already hear the heavy foot falls of it as it approached.

He brought up the bow again. His hand shaking a little until he gripped tighter, forcing himself to concentrate. It worked a little more than he anticipated, but when the arrow flew from the bow, it merely knocked the mannequin back sideways, instead of burying itself into it.

He needed to do better than that.

YOU HAVE MY SWORD!

Except the death never came. Danny's eyes went wide as she watched the dummy stumble around, not really sure what was going on. The dummy seemed to have hit some sort of stupor, fumbling around with its sword.

Danny utilized the time to adjust her stance and slash at the dummy, leaving a big scratch across its leg. She had a chance at this! Her shoulder hurt like crazy, but she could do this!

YOU HAVE MY BOW!

Readying another arrow, he drew the string back. At this point he'd be happy if the damn arrow would just hit its intended target. He didn't want to look the fool in front of his classmates and lose his cool before the mannequin even got here. But more importantly, he didn't want to lose. Not here not now.

Concentrating he let the arrow fly once more, listening to the quick snap of the string as it shot the arrow from his grasp and straight into the air. To his relief the arrow sailed cleanly, the sharp whistle following behind, before it buried itself into the arm of the mannequin and knocking it back again. It wasn't particularly good shot, but it didn't miss and it did happen to knock the mannequin back for him.

SWEET VICTORY!
Sosiqui

YOU HAVE MY SWORD!

The dummy had now regained its head, and was walking towards her looking very menacing. It was ... well whatever the mannequin equivalent of angry was. Did these things even have emotions?

Danny frowned, not really sure what to do. The dummy came towards her and brought its sword down before Danny could even pull hers out to block.

All of a sudden Danny came to life, remembering what was happening. She kicked the sword out of the dummy's hand, sending it flying and clattering on to the ground. Her own sword came up and slashed deep across the chest, and the dummy immediately stopped moving, just like yesterday.

Danny, panting and confused, just slumped on to the ground. She was done. She was so done.

YOU HAVE MY SWORD!

Despite taking his attacks slow, despite doing his very best to focus on the weapon, to treat it as if it were an extension of himself, Herryk was not achieving the meaty blows he so craved, the hearty contact that he desperately wanted to make. It was not fulfilling a primal need that Herryk had discovered within himself, and the draugr was beginning to feel restless.

YOU HAVE MY BOW!

The mannequin was starting to look like a porcupine by the time Tybalt drew the ninth arrow from the quiver and still it continued its never ending trudge forward. He could definitely hear it now. That slow, steady, 'thump, thump, thump' of its heavy feet against the ground as it continued towards him.

Swallowing hard, he nocked the arrow to the limb of the bow, drawing the string back again. Unfortunately, he prematurely launched the arrow, watching it sail past the target completely and land somewhere beyond his range of vision.

"Ah s**t..!"

YOU HAVE MY BOW!

As soon as he realized his arrow had strayed from the target, Tybalt had snatched up another, quickly knocking the arrow and readying himself to let it fly again. He had to take it out, and he had to take it out now. It was getting too close for comfort now.

Gritting his teeth, he released it, watching it sail into the mannequin's chest, close to the one he had shot before. It didn't stop its advance however, but he did notice the mannequin staggered a little before it continued on. Hopefully it was a sign. A sign that it wouldn't be able to withstand too much more of this.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER!

There was a sense of dread that had creeping up on her as she entered the class for that day. She couldn't quite say that she was not excited about what was to come, but she simply couldn't bring herself to be too optimistic and pumped up. Her eyes fell upon the racks of weapons that ranged from daggers to bows, all very simple and basic in nature. She sighed. It was expected; after the previous two days spent on honing their skills in mediation and improvisational battle, it was only natural that they would progress on to learn to battle with basic weapons.

It was going to be a difficult transition to make. All this while, the frost demon had relied upon her natural ability to bend and create ice in her battles, whether it was used to create small blockades and barriers or to arm her with any form of weapon her imagination could create. She could not boast of any form of weapon mastery, the spears, lances, swords and even the commonly favoured daggers were never properly wielded – they were makeshift, disposable tools that provided her the ability of offense. She lacked in technique, she lacked in physical strength – the very things needed when fighting with actual, proper weapons.

But she wasn't here to complain. She was here to learn.

The ghoul took her time to assess the advantages and requirements of each weapon offered to them, taking into account her own abilities and personality. The sword had been ruled out quickly, she simply lacked the arm strength to wield it with ease and could not compensate for the concession in attacking speed with the fortitude and muscle to deflect oncoming blows by holding up the blade. It was down to the bow and the dagger.

The Edel before she came to Amityville would have picked the bow without a sliver of doubt. She would have liked to think that she had a calm mind to handle the weapon as required. Back then, she would have avoided fighting in close quarters as she lacked the power and agility ... but most of all she was afraid of the heat of battle.

That had been changed though, the ghoul wasn't quite sure if she could still handle herself as well mentally now that she had to battle the hunters. The psychological scars have yet to heal. Furthermore, she was more confident of this weapon wasn't she? The ghoul thought as she picked up the lightweight dagger and turned it in her hand. As for how far she had come in terms of her battle prowess, now was the time it find out.

Stepping over to the right side of the platform, the ghoul stared down the dummy she was about to face, removing all other distractions from her mind. Focus. Edel didn't wait any longer before she made her move, stepping in quickly and delivering a swift stab into the side, pulling out the dagger and stepping back just in time to avoid the dummy's swing. The battle had begun.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER!

He could attack better if he was closer. He just had to man up and move in closer, Roch thought, taking another step in. The mannequin's hand shot out, stabbing him in the side because he was in perfect hitting distance.

Okay, Roch thought as he jerked back, that was why he'd not wanted to get in closer. Dodge and weave, man, dodge and weave. He could do this. He started circling again, his dagger at the ready. He wondered how Danny was doing--

And hoped she and whatever weapon she had claimed were far, far away.

YOU HAVE MY BOW!

The black dog let out a low growl, watching as the mannequin drew closer and closer. He was determined now. It would fall. He would make damned sure of that!

Another arrow was loosed from the bow, hissing through the air before it sunk into the mannequin's leg. Which thankfully, like it would a human, made it stagger back a few more feet. Unfortunately it did little to cripple it and it was still on the move. As slow as that was.
