Dark Mirror Super Narcissus of Rejection

Incidentally, it was absolutely not freaking fine!

What kind of moron would think this was fine? Powered up or not, they were now in this distortion world reeking of tar and static, with little gremlins whirling all about! Nothing about this was fine, and it was only worse because Narcissus did actually wish that Rakovanite was here to protect him, even though he'd stupidly- stupidly!- decided that his boyfriend should go unpowered for their Mirrorspace excursion.

Weak.

Defenseless.

And didn't Narcissus feel strong and independent and special now, seeing Nat be tossed aside and gouged by a stray-flying gargoyle monster! Yep, this was totally, definitely what he'd wanted for their cute date.

He lunged for the ground at Nataniel's side, breath coming in sharp, strained little 'Hh- hh- hh-'s as he wedged his arms under the other man and deadlifted him against his chest. It only felt like his heart was going to pound out of his chest, and even with his senshi strength, his weak, pitiful muscles already started to burn against the strain- But, like, what else was he supposed to do? Nat couldn't outrun these things! Nat definitely couldn't fight them. Honestly, they'd be lucky if Nat could even properly see them, with his shoddy vision!

It was one hundred percent, completely up to Narcissus to make sure they got out of here in one piece and with minimal injury if at all possible. Except it probably wasn't possible, and his mind was already turning over the likelihood of Nat's new shoulder wound Khal Drogo'ing him into an early grave. So honestly, things were off to a pretty bad start.

"I'm gonna throw up," Narcissus croaked pitifully, fingers digging into Nat's sides where he held him.

Lieutenant Feldspar

Man, all of the worst things happened to him. And if he was out, like, actively murdering people, Feldspar might kind of understand. Karma, divine retribution, whatever anyone wanted to call it; if he'd done something to deserve it, that'd make sense.

But it felt like all the random, terrible s**t just reached out and picked him- He didn't know anyone else who'd been abducted by a youma off the street. Didn't know why he was the one almost drowned by an invisible force when there were other people right there. Didn't know why he was out doing literally nothing besides sitting on a bench, minding his out ******** business, when suddenly he was dropped dead-a** on the ground in what was basically a battlefield. So at least he wasn't the only one, then.

Not that Feldspar would wish ill on his friends, but <********>, why couldn't he catch a break?

He didn't know who he'd been in his past life, but dude must've been a complete tool for all the s**t the universe put Feldspar through now.

He almost didn't even want to pick himself up off the tar-sticky platform, almost thought he'd be in a better position if he just leaned back and pretended to be dead until it was over. Feldspar was about as useful as a dead body on his best day, anyway, sooo...? No harm in it.

It was only because he happened to turn his head to the side to observe what the hell everyone else was doing in his frame of vision when he caught a flash of white amidst a dark background. Tanwyn- Well, Weissite. He'd up and ******** off like a week ago and no one had seen or heard from him. Even Rakovanite couldn't summon him... But he was here! Feldspar pushed himself into a sit, and then lurched to his feet using his cane as support.

"Weissite!" Feldspar called, moving as quickly as his bad leg and this s**t terrain would allow.

Would be super inconvenient and totally expected if something were to like, come at him exactly when he didn't want it to.

Page Sawtooth of Saturn

"No," Sawtooth's response was almost a growl as Regal acted like he was gonna- what? Be the one to go in and fight? Because he was stronger than Eli, or something? ******** not. Sawtooth didn't care that Regal had actual magic to use against enemies; all the better for him to stay at their daughter's side with while Sawtooth went and acted as a physical distraction. And Zero's magic would help with that, so he wished Regal wouldn't be so negative about it...

He lifted Zero into his arms, gave her a little smirk and said, "Way to go, Sugar Plum Princess. Got your dad's skirt all in a twist just from one little spell..." He gave her a "reprimanding" poke to the side of her head, then passed her into Regal's arms.

"Just stay here, and I'll keep them off you." He needed to do at least that much. "If something gets by me, you can channel to protect yourselves for a few seconds until I circle back around, alright? Regal-" He leaned in hurried, letting both of his hands grasp at the other man's face because he could see the doubt already forming there. "It's oh-kay." Maybe Regal had never fought, and maybe Thad couldn't remember all the times he'd been involved in something just like this, but Sawtooth knew this wasn't his lover's first rodeo. This was the first time they would face it together.

How could it not be okay?

He leaned in for a quick, hard kiss, then whirled around, passed through the glyph Zero had made for them, and was able to quickly be some kind of barrier between his family and the creatures. Even if he did only have his fists to fend them off with.

Eternal Sailor Kamacite is giving an order to any Negaverse Senshi and Officers in the area. You are welcome to decide if you can hear him or not. Same with any WM, DMS, or civilian!

Eternal Sailor Kamacite

Kamacite knew that name. Ilian. It wasn’t exactly a common name, at least not as far as he was aware. And he fit the description Misha gave him.

He stared at the blond and curly haired young man that joined them for a few moments, before his attention turned to the Lieutenant that reached for his clothing. They were all being knocked around by the wind, so he didn’t pay too much mind to that, but he didn’t like the look the blond civilian was giving him.

As if he could do anything in that form. Kamacite bristled, irritated that once again it seemed as though he was left to take charge. His communication device didn’t seem to be working at the moment, which meant he would have to speak up.

He hated speaking.

But if they didn't try joining together in an attack, they might all be doomed.

“Negaverse Senshi and Officers,” Eternal Sailor Kamacite called out, unsure if anyone could hear him, but he hoped they could at least coordinate some kind of attack. “If you have short range weapons or magic, focus on the creatures trying to escape. Stop them from getting to the city. Everyone else… attack the crystal.”

“Close your eyes,” he said to the three near him. He didn’t give them much more time to prepare as he held out his hands, and a bright orb of light began sucking whatever light and electrical energy that remained around them. He threw it at the creature and its crystal, hoping the discharge would be enough to counter at least some of the electrical current in the strange realm of existence.

Quote:
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Solar Minimum
All light, natural and artificial, is disrupted and temporarily absorbed into a single orb over five seconds until complete darkness. Devices with an electrical or magnetized charge (street lights, phones, cameras, etc) in the immediate area are also disrupted and the energy absorbed into the orb. Upon releasing the built up energy at an opponent, the orb explodes in a flash of light and electrical discharge that could cause heat and/or electrical burns (can be just the sensation or actual/lasting damage up to player discretion) in addition to temporary blindness and disorientation, which can last upwards of thirty seconds. Light and electrical in the area is immediately restored upon the orb exploding. It does not have to make contact with something to explode. It can be dispelled by Kamacite without exploding if necessary. Has an effect radius of 10 feet (although the flash can be seen as one would see any flash), and can be used twice.

Spei, Page of the Moon

Spei gave the girl a slight smile. "Good, smart." He helped her clamber onto his back; her weight was next to nothing, so this wouldn't be a problem. "Wrap your arms around my neck and hold on tight," he said as he used his arms to support and hold onto her legs, grimacing at the pain in his injured left arm.

In the distance, over the noise of the wind and the creatures roaring and howling, he heard someone give a command to attack the crystal. "This is our chance," he said to the other Knight. "We should run for it. Now."

Corporal Vyn

Vyn was beginning to think getting out of this place would be next to impossible, at least while the large creature remained and the smaller ones kept swarming. He didn’t care much if the beasts happened to make their way out into Destiny City; it would cause problems, but they could be dealt with like youma. His priority, of course, was his own people — their safety, their survival. Everything else was secondary.

The others drew closer. Aliez. Andreiya. Tenoch. Nessaela, too. Vyn cast his gaze around quickly, judging their readiness, their abilities. The wind blew at them violently. Other voices filled the air. Magic flared to life all around, joining the crackle of energy.

Tenoch and Andreiya both shot at the largest creature. Vyn took aim and did the same.

Aleiz, focus you’re shielding on Vaylin and Nessaela. They have close range weapons. Tenoch, Andreiya, keeping firing. If anyone sees an opening, we take it, and we guide whoever else we can, but don’t risk yourselves for them. These people aren’t our priority.”

Velencya was their priority. Home. Vyn wanted it desperately. For now, all they had was each other.

That had to be enough.

Yuri/Erytheia of Cosmos

Erytheia felt as much as saw the tear in the sky now. He, like everything else, was being drawn to it, drawn into it. There was no avoiding it now.

And, yet, it felt like an internal force just as much as an external one. He needed to go to it in spirit just as much as his body could not avoid it. There was a feeling of desperate desire that the crystal seemed to stir inside him.

He wanted it and he wanted it badly even though he did not know what it was.

Henny did as she was told, though she was none too happy about the situation. She didn't want to risk anyone's life so she gave in to his demand. She held on tight and just hoped they got out of this in one piece.

Basic Corrupt Cryolite Sublimation

What a pair of peaches I've bumbled into -- Cryolite didn't have the energy to snap his thoughts aloud, barely had enough *umph* left in his bones to roll his eyes for the commentary.

The universe didn't care for his complaints though, and with Chrysocolla helming their pace, Cryolite wasn't eager to be left behind for dead.

"Oh, ******** you too, darling," the cold sizzle of vowels beaded off his tongue, even as he snatched for zem; grabbed with a look of ire and ick the nearest part of the civilian that wasn't absolutely drenched in monster ooze; he deserved kudos, plus a medal for doing something 'like' a good deed. "Now get up and move --- we're not dying here!" he saved the barest dredges of his final attack for *ifs* and *just in case we're about to die* - no need to sound it all off with Chrysocolla leading the way towards...well...

Of course the way to salvation lay just beyond the lions den!! Obviously it had to, that was just the way of everything here wasn't it? Half-dressed Senshi, fully clothed agents, bodies screaming amongst the dead but not louder than the frantic monsters roar; all centered around a sharp tongued women with nice boots and crazy eyes....

Her magic was beautiful.

The feel of it touched off something in him, like the shout from a golden sun in the distance. Eternals going off left right and center. Amazing. And suddenly Cryolite felt renewed being near Chrysocolla, invigorated, wanted for someday that amazing being to be *himself as well!* If they had to shatter the damned thing before them to ensure that?!

Lacerta, Super DMS (Bandages)

Lacerta would have given an impromptu salute to the orders that Acubens had issued but instead focused on the group of Dark Mirror senshi before merely nodding in response to Acubens request. She'd serve the court the best way she could, and in this instance, that meant acting as the triage nurse. She mentally figured that she'd save her super magic until dire circumstances forced her to use it and it was all she could fervently hope for that it would not be the case. Stepping in behind the aforementioned Kuichi & Morpheus, Lacerta gazed towards the creature as the group was caught up in the mayhem and she grit her teeth before ducking her head and pushing through the throngs.

Her beehive?

Why did that thought strike her suddenly? Lacerta's steps faltered as she remembered why she had jumped into a fissure in the first place. Did she still need to find it? Was she just going to let the hive remain lost? Blinking at the uncharacteristic thoughts Lacerta ground her ringed hand into her palm, it was meant as a means to focus her attention on the here and now but she also, at the same time, activated her ring's magic once more. She pushed aside some of the creatures that still tried to swarm the group as they struggled to get nearer to a place in which they could exit out of this strange place. Lacerta caught a glimpse of her comrades expressions before stepping back into her assigned role. She couldn't falter - that beehive was probably lost for good and all it was that she could do was to aid her fellow court family.

Cadet Itztenoch

"The sooner we get past that creature, the more okay I'll feel about all this!" like shouting in a wind-tunnel, except amidst the rage and fear, there sat hope enough to choke on, a whole huge lump of it. Even if the situation was insane, the bond was familiar.

He'd missed it. Missed them. Missed all the ways they'd come apart from each other and their home while being on Earth, but this? Being in a situation like this? He liked it -- that Vaylin and Andreiya had a solid bead on the situation, had it right. Sticking together, the way they'd always been meant to be - working as a singular unit - a team.

Vyn and the others were easy to take orders from; to form a protective circle around their vulnerable centerpieces, aiming bright blasts overhead while leaving their blade and shield members free to deflect and stab at whatever grotesque crawling-flyers got in their way.

"As you say, Vyn!" tenoch answered with a smile, appreciative of the one who'd always had his priorities straight, not heartless or cold; knowing deep down that 'their own' were what mattered most at the end of the day!

Cadet Nessaela

The near collision with Tenoch had almost knocked her over, and probably would have, if he hadn't reached out to steady her in the melee that raged around them. Her gaze took in her fellow cadet's appearance before looking away. While it was nice to know that she wasn't alone anymore it was another to realize that in the time that she had been missing there had been no real time or chance to maintain a respectable appearance. Her cheeks flushed for a few seconds before she shook her head. It wouldn't be prudent to be embarrassed. No she wouldn't allow that emotion to have any grip to anchor itself in her mind.

Instead she found herself leaning on Tenoch for a second longer before hearing Vyn's instructions. Her dagger would not serve well in this instance and she had to agree with the logistics of the scenario. Stepping closer to Aliez Nessaela waited with a small amount of apprehension. Whatever was going to happen next was unknown and she didn't appreciate the 'not-knowing' factor in all of this. The absolute desire to get out of this strange place was soon encompassing every fibre in Nessaela's body. One hand drifted down to her dagger and she removed it from its sheath before eyeing the giant creature. It would hardly do more than perhaps gently scratch the giant beast but for a moment the cadet could imagine the weapon doing more than just that if she struck out at the beast.

The need to do something more was overwhelming. Should she stay behind the shield that Aliez would provide or was she destined to fight too?

Sailor Tachibana, Chibi Senshi of Chrysanthemums

Tachibana kept a tight grip on Ida hand as she tried to shield herself against the wind. It was brutal there was so much happening she didn't even know where to focus her attention. She was grateful for the older woman's presence, it gave her something to focus on in the chaos. She just needed to stick close to Ida and the two of them would make it out here and past that awful monster.

The preteen senshi agreed with Ida assessment of the huge monster. They had to get to a rift and hope that thing couldn't follow them. "We'll make it." She huffed as she ran. "We have to!"

Sailor Murikabushi of Hunger

Of one thing, Reiki was entirely certain: <******** Things needed to stop happening when he had a mind for things to be nice! Easy! And relatively stress-free for a hot ******** minute! This year, he’d been burning the candle at both ends even before Pride Season started, just trying to catch up to where so many other senshi and assorted magical weirdos seemed to be in their respective journeys (including unnecessarily cruel goose-themed teenagers! Because why not have that be a thing now). Everything could’ve been nice and easy, a simple patrol, but no.

Because why would anything ******** nice ever happen for him.

At least, he supposed, he’d been powered up before getting sucked into……wherever this was supposed to be. Somewhere he definitely didn’t want to be, judging by the air, freezing cold and thick as curdled blood. Everything about this place felt utterly oppressive. Miserable. Maybe even hostile—but maybe that was presuming too much.

Slogging through the dark expanse and the mess of Someone’s God Only Knows The ******** What, Reiki searched around for any familiar face.… Haruhi. Levi. Mom and Dad. Obaasan and Ojiisan. Yuki. Toráin. Kerberos. Junsei and their sisters. Sybil, or Cherry, or Brandy, or Justine, or any other member of their Haus (especially Justine; Reiki had a responsibility to look out for her, as her most direct drag mother and the one who’d clued her in to how much better she deserved than ******** Greg). His godfather, aunts, and cousins. Amsvartnir. Fang. Sappho. Bélénos. Acubens-oneesan. Ida. Spei. Even a Mister Grumpy Gills like Morpheus, someone who hated Reiki like Daphne or Angelica or Captain Phoenix Force, or someone with whom Reiki had a lot of issues like Valjean or Arsenolite—having them around would’ve been better than having nobody.

Especially when the creatures started jumping out of the metaphysical woodwork.

Reiki tried to avoid them. Even without accounting for Murikabushi’s enhanced senshi strength, Reiki didn’t run every morning, come rain or come shine, and flounce all over town in heels significantly higher than his fuku’s for nothing. Maybe he was not, per se, good at keeping himself out of trouble, but he could dodge the nasty bitches, couldn’t he? Helped that they seemed about as bright as a box of unpolished rocks, so they could easily distract each other without noticing him worth a good goddam. Just keep running, just keep running, what do we do, we run and stay out of the way of these grotsky little bee-yotch kaiju…

At least that worked until one of them swooped down in front of him. Right in the middle of his path. Looking like a gargoyle, but not one like Goliath, who Reiki gladly would’ve allowed to princess-carry him to bed.

Reiki fumbled to a halt before the thing, nearly falling. Last minute save, but he kept himself upright. Hovering before him, bat-like wings menacingly swishing through the air, Midnight Mass over here tilted his head. Snaked his torso back and forth, like he could ever charm Reiki so easily. Regarded Reiki—probably considering whether he’d go better with ketchup or ranch dressing. Whatever was going on in his head, Midnight Mass lazily reared back.

“What do we say to the God of Death,” Reiki intoned, raising his arm. “Not. Today. Gnawing Hunger!”

Considering these wretches’ general attitude, this could’ve gone badly for Reiki in so many ways. Fortunately for him, the attack went off. Something in the air felt like it was crackling, bursting with untapped power. Maybe being around so much ambient energy had the same effect for him, more specifically for his magic, as the energy sharing (and the kindness) that he’d gotten from Ida and Kerberos.

Either way, once he’d been hit, Midnight Mass did not lunge for Reiki. Crumbling in around himself, he whimpered—both very much like Fang and yet, infinitely more pathetic than Fang had been—and clawed at his chest.

Seizing the moment, Reiki lunged in instead. Seized Midnight Mass’s shoulders. Shoved him back with a hiss of “Not today.” Maybe it was the shock, maybe it was the pressure around them, maybe a lot of things. But for all it mattered, Midnight Mass crashed down to the ground. Still whining. Still twitching helplessly and mewling like that would ever get him fed. With a deep breath and pulled himself up to full height (as much as he could), Reiki glared down at him.

One part of Reiki felt deep compassion for the piteous thing sprawled out before him, so hungry that he couldn’t even do anything to satisfy that hunger. But another part felt like—“Not today, b***h.” Teeth grit, he stomped on Midnight Mass’s face. Aimed his heel right for the creature’s nose. “Not. ********. Today.”

Another well-placed stomp and Midnight Mass exploded in black goo.

At least Reiki’s shoes, his skirt, and his thigh-highs would clean themselves up by magic after he powered down. Which he wasn’t gonna attempt. “Don’t do something so stupid right now” sounded like a reasonable bet. Strange lightning in the sky, distinctly unsexy gargoyle creatures all around him, and reality was ripping apart at the seams. This was the time for Murikabushi to stay out, not Reiki.

Dimly, he recalled what Kerberos had told him, that first night. About how bad for him it would be to try and draw such a clear delineation between Reiki and Murikabushi. How doing that for himself had only led Kerberos into self-destruction and helped fuel his drinking problem. But right now, thinking about that only held Reiki up for long enough to watch The Thing—the big daddy monster, looming over everything, with a crystal in its chest—emerge on the horizon.

Trying to process what the ******** that even was held him up long enough to hear some call, from close by but not to close, “Chrysocolla’s Prism!”

Reiki barely had enough time to think Oh, ******** my drag, right? before the shockwave hit him.

Once it did, everything he felt was red.

Sometimes, one could find beauty in anger. Allure in outrage. Refinement in righteous indignation. But what Reiki felt now was not beautiful. It was red, and terrible, and RED. A bloody, visceral red like the ribbons lashed around his waist, and arms, and shoulders.

And like Midnight Mass and all his brethren, Reiki’s rage was hungry.

Consuming him, one thought alone: KILL THE BEASTS before they hurt someone else.

Kill the big one too, if he was lucky—but the odds hadn’t been in Reiki’s favor lately. Couldn’t count on luck. All he could do was run. Run, and clobber any of Midnight Mass’s kin who got in his way. No time to waste on his magic. Only rage, at these things for invading this world like they ******** owned the place. Rage, at the fabric of causality for letting it ******** happen, like it had the right to sit on its a** and do absolutely goddamn nothing. Rage, at himself for how he’d frozen up and let Arsenolite murder Raymond Callahan—more than three weeks ago, by now, but Reiki hadn’t stopped for long enough to process it all. RAGE, at how he could not—WOULD NOT—let some vicious ******** from Whomst The ******** KNEW Where keep hurting people, or else what was even was the point of letting Levi and Soya make him a magical girl.

By the time the red, and terrible, and red rage started seeping out of him—by the time his eye for colors besides crimson slammed back into him—Reiki had black tar splattered all over him. Not just the heel that had stomped Midnight Mass, or the ricochet splotches up his leg and around the edges of his skirt. No, now both arms were covered in the nauseating gunk. Especially his hands and knuckles. More of it had gotten on his skirt and under it, probably making his frilly pink petticoats look like some nightmare befitting Jackson Pollack Artist’s Studio Barbie. Swaths of it across his chest and stomach fixed his overlay more closely to his form than it already fit.

At least I don’t look fat today, he thought. And cringed at, knowing too well what it meant for him to feel anything like that. But with a shake of his head, he filed that away to think about <******** later. After this bullshit was done, assuming he lived long enough to make it home for his three-day post-Pride Season nap.

Reiki’s head was still reeling—still adrift in a vast ocean of what the ******** just happened, and what was I so angry about, and wait, no, I need the anger back, this isn’t over yet, THESE ******** THINGS ARE STILL KILLING PEOPLE, COME BACK TO ME, SWEET ANGER—when it registered that someone had called out to him……someone who’d called him “Tagame.”

Dimly, Reiki wanted to maintain that fiction. It had been ever so delightful, making Toráin’s ******** brother believe him about it. As he looked up from his tar-covered hands, though, he said in a flat, removed voice, “Full disclosure, Captain? I have no idea what we’re dealing with and my name’s not actually Tagame; it’s Murikabushi.” Dismissively, he waved a hand at nothing, but definitely absent the nervous energy that usually accompanied this gesture for him. “Somebody got me with some……psychoactive magical attack……thing? Another senshi, I think? Don’t have the bandwidth to keep lying to you about that.… Good to see you still alive, though.”

Immediately after saying something he’d only meant as a courtesy, Reiki realized that it was true.

At least a few deep breaths—and maybe all the sweet, sweet ambient energy in this ******** place—started putting his head back somewhere in the vicinity of where it belonged when he heard an even more familiar voice……looked to his other side to see an even more familiar face.

“No idea, cousin. Sorry about that.” While Reiki’s voice still hadn’t gotten back to its normal level of vivacity, at least he managed a small, wan, but earnest smile. “I’m only not hugging you right now because I wouldn’t let go and then neither of us could do anything. Also, Volterra? Captain Arsenolite of the Negaverse. Arsenolite, my cousin, Sailor Volterra.… Good we’re all together. Strength in numbers.”

With another deep breath, Reiki turned to stare up at the big-a** ******** with the crystal in its chest. “Disclaimer, I still don’t even have twelve percent of a clue right now? But Vegas money says we’ve gotta beat the biggun to get out of here. Cue epic video game boss music.… Minegeshi Toru-san, Ota Asuka-san, and Kondo Koji-san. Twilight Princess OST. Usurper King Zant’s battle theme.”

The last thing, Reiki normally would’ve kept inside his own head, where it wouldn’t sound completely stupid. But, well. Today had certainly been A ******** Day.

Sailor Amaterasu, Chibi Senshi of the Sunrise

Amaterasu was hanging onto her older sister for dear life at this point, the violent wind threatening to pick the young girl up off her feet and send her gods know where. The giant monster was more than a little intimidating. She knew her sister was strong and she was there to provide backup but she was worried if she got hit by that thing it would leave an injury she couldn't heal even with her magic.

She was glad her sister agreed to run, they just had to make it back to Earth then surely everything would be fine. They'd be safe and she could just chalk this up as another wild adventure. She called on her magic to heal her sister for any injuries she might have gotten while fighting. "Rising Sun Infirmary."

Rising Sun Infirmary
Amaterasu holds her hands together in front of her. As she raises her hands towards the sky a shining ball 3/4 the size of a basketball appears, the action mimicking a sunrise. Those within range of the light feel refreshed and rejuvenated as though just waking to the sunrise after a night's rest, they feel energy returning to them and minor wounds such as scrapes and bruises and small cuts are healed.

Cypher Vanguard Cadet

To say that Cypher was starting to get annoyed with Earth was a bit of an understatement.

On Velencya, he never had to worry about being suddenly teleported, without consent, to places he couldn’t walk to normally. Since their arrival, this very incident had occured, not once… but three times. First time being just before the generator explosions; about half the Vanguard had been taken to the Dark Kingdom. The other’s he had no idea what had happened to them until later and was relieved to learn that some Moon related entity had saved them.

The second time he’d been taken some place was actually his own decision; he’d gone to a Cosmos Knight’s wonder to offer aid against a corrupted tree. Not that he’d been much help with the number of times he’d missed, at least there was nobody there to report on his abysmal performance.

This time, however, was much like the first.

Again, he was thrown into another situation where both Order and Chaos were together en mass and he was left reeling trying to figure out if they were working together, fighting one another, and who was responsible for the monsters and that giant beast.

Rather than picking sides, he pulled his blaster out and began shooting at the smaller gargoyals in an attempt to make his way back out of one of the rifts that had thrown him into this mayhem.

Meninx, Squire of Mars

This wasn’t what Meninx had been planning. He’d been out tonight because something felt wrong. He could feel the air moving in Destiny City but the leaves on the trees hadn’t moved. It was like small pockets of nothingness had opened up and were fanning air in short bursts around him.

He didn’t find out what it was until it was unavoidable.

The Rift split open in front of him. He saw blackness, he saw discord, he saw–

Destiny City, slipping out of reach. He tumbled a few feet down, and though he tried to grab onto something, there wasn’t anything to grab.

He didn’t even see what he hit. Who he hit.

Meninx felt the aura of another Knight, but when they were surrounded by so many other energy signatures, it was easy to get lost in it all.

He landed on his hands and knees, with a splitting headache. For a few seconds, his vision swam–and he hoped he was just imagining the giant monster just before them. Worse, the wind was trying to push them towards it and he still had nothing to grab onto.

He could see the Knight next to him; they were practically a tangle of limbs, and he sloppily tried to push himself up. “Sorry,” he blurted, gruff and confused. He was having a hard time standing up and keeping his balance with the wind buffeting him, and he reached out a hand to help her up as he tried to rise. “Are you okay?”

Because, she was going to have to be.

There were monsters, everywhere.

People were fighting, but he couldn’t tell what difference it was making. The whole world seemed to be fading in and out and he was just trying to focus on not passing out.
