 1. Please refrain from posting unless you're another Legend, Legend guardian, somebody with permission, or if you're dropping off a gift ( try to keep it to one post ). 2. I will love you eternally if, when you post to this journal, you turn off your sig. I like the neat look it offers, besides sigs can break up the scheme of things. x3 3. Don't be stupid and PM me asking me about Lafe and if you can own him or have his kids or that sort of nonsense. It's ridiculous and I'm likely to smite you if you ask. 4. All art featured in this journal belongs to those that drew it. cheshire drew Lafe and all other art featured is not likely mine, but I adore the artists for all of it. 5. If all else fails, either go to the main thread to get your question answered or PM me if it's important. Don't just do something without thinking or knowing. <3 6. To make this clear, Lafe's concept and character are mine, though the universe he is from was adapted and then created by TarnishedHalo and myself. The concept of pooka may not be so new, to those that are aware, but it was altered to suit my purposes. In short: touch and die. I'm possessive of my characters and that which I've created, so if you use something, credit me. >_> Or I'll hurt you. 7. Do not assume that all information in this diary is In Character knowledge. Most will not know half the things in here, don't assume you do. 8. I like secrets and it will stay that way. 9. Rules are all ways subject to change. x___x

01.03.05 || ... okay, baby found between tree roots. Reminds me of a fox, actually. Name's Lafe, I think, and he won't stop crying. Urgh. Endlessly adorable, however. 04.03.05 || Halo found this baby on our doorstep on the way out this evening. Thing is, he calms Lafe down. A lot. His name's Alejandro, Alex for short, and -- well, let's just say I'm more than happy to have another kid in the house in this case. Sweet sleep, here I come. 02.04.05 || ... after a rather ... tiresome trip to the store and running into an odd man, I've come to the conclusion Lafe really is of the fae and a pooka at that. 18.08.05 || Alex's been taken from the house and ... Lafe's sick and stuck in his fox form it seems. Things, they can't get any worse ...

Pooka were notorious throughout Ireland as mischievous, dangerous, and mysterious creatures. They were, supposedly, dark faeries who came out only at night and were one of the most feared of their kind. Pooka were hardly nice and many said that they often would appear in the form of horses to scare and startle cattle and other farm animals, spoiling anything the animal had to offer from then on out. ( Which, actually, not all ways horses. A pooka that comes into existence shares an affinity with one kind of animal, only able to shift and change into that animal form. Whatever area that that part of the myth started in just had an overly mischievous horse pooka who likely got bored often. ) There was also the rumors that they would scoop up travelers upon the road and dump them into the muddy marshes. Pooka were granted the gift of human speech and sometimes they would go outside the houses of the people and call out the names of those they wanted to take out on midnight rides. To refuse meant that they would vandalize your home harshly, as the pooka is a very spiteful and vindictive faerie. Other tales claim that the pooka is not at all dangerous, but rather can be helpful and is usually quite mysterious. On the occasion a pooka would give a traveler or some other person a warning, a brief glimpse into the future and tell them what shall be.
Then again, only half of that is true and most of it simply lies the pooka themselves have created. Pooka are inclined that way; the way of lies, misdirection, and mischief among other things. Quite frankly, they were inclined in whatever direction they pleased, but those were often the ones they worked in.
And Lafe? Well, Lafe was one such pooka, and one that shared an affinity with the fox. For the most part, he lived the life any pooka wanted: mischief, mayhem, and chaos, but even that could only sustain him to a certain point. At one particular fork in the road, things changed for him entirely and him with those changes. It was a day when those he traveled with harmed innocents. Tail between his legs, Lafe slipped off into the shadows and away from his form compatriots, because he could not live with the actual injury done. It is one thing to harm those that deserve it, it is another thing entirely to harm someone who doesn't, even to a being such as the pooka.
It marked a change in his life. Where once he was mischievous, using his chicanery and sleight-of-hand to steal and confuse humans, he no longer held the desire to do so, so intently. Instead, he found himself falling back onto his true powers: the ability to see, to soothsay, and to know what will come if one focuses enough or channels the power ( or to look back, for that matter, if he could manage ). It was the lesser known power that pooka were known to have, but rarely did one have it as strong as he did. Eventually, in his aimless wanderings, he came across a traveling man such as himself. The man, however, was not so much a man, but something very much like Lafe, and he saw through the glamour that Lafe hid himself under. His name was Berial and his chance meeting with Lafe lead to the pooka eventually traveling with the other, becoming his student as he would learn to control and harness his ability to soothsay.
The years passed and Lafe's knowledge and powers grew in accordance with the passage and time, as well as with the training he received from his mentor, Berial. Lafe became something akin to notorious ( and infamous, all the same ) in this time, someone that was mentioned among the people, along with Berial. To most they were simply two travelers along the road, but every so often they would stop and someone would be informed of something to come. Of course, Lafe also picked up the habit of playing fortune teller when he could, despite being somewhat distant to those that he read fortunes for. ( Mostly because humans were better off not knowing he was a pooka, thus hiding his true self behind a cloak or glamour to make sure no one saw his features as they really were. ) Even then, nothing stopped him from invoking a little good luck or back luck for those that ran into him because, after all, he was a pooka and no one escapes a meeting with one unscathed -- be it then or down the line in the future.
(( Only part of a larger story, and even then, not all of the details. ))

Name: Lafe Born: March 1, 2005. The Charm: Attached towards the end of Lafe's scarf is The Moon card. The Moon is a tarot card, a part of the Major Arcana, and is represented by a moon over a scene of towers in the distance and canines howling at the celestial body above. There is a pool of water at the forefront of the card, a scorpion crawling out of it.
It's place in the arcana is XVII and it's meaning is, but not limited to, hidden enemies, danger, calumny, darkness, terror, deception and error. Reversed, the card stands to mean instability, inconstancy, silence, lesser degrees of deception and error.
Appearance: Lafe has dark red hair and a set of dark red fox ears on the top of his head, as well as a shock white tail that swishes constantly when he's in a good mood. The most stunning feature about him are his silver-blue eyes which have been described as changeling eyes, a clear sign that he is not the slightest bit mortal, but actually fae. When he first arrived, he had skin that was slightly paler than normal, but it has become a more natural hue over the time that has passed -- healthy looking. The only marring on his body is the scarring on his right side where it looks like he was pierced by a blade and it was shifted about without care. The skin around the scarring looks ashen and the veins stretching out from the scar look as if poison had once ran through them.
Personality: Typically quiet and serious, Lafe is one of those that doesn't often make an noise unless he wants to be heard or is enjoying himself thoroughly and is without a care in the world. Extremely shy, he can be withdrawn around others until he gets use to their presence, but if they're too pushy or forward the odds of him ever getting comfortable are very slim. He is very sensitive about being touched and barely tolerates others touching him, unless he wants to be touched or is letting them touch him. Someone invading his personal bubble of space without his permission is likely to pull a hand back with bite marks.
The pooka can be mischievous though, when he's comfortable enough, and very playful when he wants to be. It just takes him being comfortable with his surroundings and who he's with ( there are few he is truly comfortable around ). Otherwise, for the most part, Lafe is shy and often nervous, prone to fiddling with his tail and treating it like a security blanket in some ways. When push comes to shove however, don't expect him to hold back.
... and never mind the fact that the characteristics of the fox do carry over to his personality as well. He can be as curious as any fox, and just as playful, but be warned -- he can be a trickster, if need be.
Hobbies and Special Skills: Lafe's main hobby seems to be practicing and using his tarot cards, even as a baby. He plays with them as often as possible and is usually found toying with them if he's not with Alex and caught up in the games they play. The young fox also exhibits some empathy when it comes to others and will quickly retreat if he finds the feelings of the other overwhelming, but he will just as easily come out of his shell if the person seems to need a bit of soothing -- in rare cases.
As of now, and currently unknown, Lafe is gifted with the ability to see the future, the power of a soothsayer, a seer. While his tarot cards are his way of easily looking into the future and telling a person's fortune, his own ability to see the future is much more accurate. He will, eventually, be able to view the past through scrying. The past, present, and future are all things he will eventually be able to see, it just depends on what he's doing.
The pooka also has a more mischievous talent that allows him to 'mooch' items off of people. It's a thieving skill and he's mostly used it to keep a hold of items. An item can be one place, say in the pocket of another, and if he knows it's there he can potentially have it wind up in his own pocket or hand if he chooses.
He also has a few other mischievous abilities, but most of them are hardly of note. Unless you count his ability to manipulate the luck of a person. This pooka can tilt luck in your favor, or against you, depending. Luckily, as of right now, he has no real control over it.
Personal and Family History: Lafe's arrival into the household was something of a crying affair. He was found while Wren was out for a walk, looking for inspiration, and seemingly seemed abandoned. He cried for a few days straight, afterwards, until the arrival of Alejandro -- in which it seemed that whatever was missing from Lafe's life had finally arrived. For the most part, Lafe is a quiet and serious child, mostly interested in playing with his tarot cards when not playing with Alex or doing something else.

Name: Wren Concord. Born: September 16. Jobs: Writer primarily and occasionally helps out at both his wife's, along with Tom and Carmine's businesses when asked ( or coerced ).
Appearance: Below average height for a man, Wren is short and very much the embodiment of the phrase 'cuddly bloke' ( but few will ever get to actually cuddle him ). He has blue-ish black hair that spikes out in different directions and occasionally there can be a rare streak of dark red in it. His hair is usually kept however it feels like being on some particular day, as Wren will often mess it up by running his hand through or tugging on the hair himself. A pair of black demon horns peek out of his hair, but are likely to be glamoured to look that short. His eyes are blue, which may occasionally seem to be a pale unearthly shade, and often seen behind a pair of glasses. ( It could be argued that he doesn't need his glasses, but Wren stands by them being necessary for him to see. ) Mostly he keeps himself in shape, which leads to being dragged out to exercise by whomever.
Personality: A tad bit eccentric ( or a lot ), Wren possessed a lot of personality quirks, most of which will never be seen. He's generally a kind and caring individual, pleasant to be around and friendly. He's also over protective of his family, friends, and loved ones -- even Tom and Carmine, as well as Hawk's Eye. Sometimes he can have the personality that makes one think he's out to please people, but in reality he's not. He simply does what he thinks he should do and that's that. He has no qualms about getting into someone's face if they've done something wrong. Wren can be very nice, but if he gets angry it's probably best to leave the general area. For the record, Wren can also be something akin to overdramatic, so if it seems like someone is getting on his nerves, he could very well be acting, but one can never be certain.
Hobbies and Special Skills: Writing is Wren's number one hobby, skill, and ability. He's not too shabby at it and can make a living off of it when he needs to, and apparently he needs to. A veritable jack-of-all-trades, and master of none ( or very few ), Wren does say that he has a few other abilities up his sleeve, but otherwise doesn't talk about it. He's probably as normal as he looks.
Though it's a matter of opinion if someone considers his looks normal, or if he even is.
Personal and Family History: If Wren actually tells you anything about his history and life before coming to Gaia, consider yourself a lucky individual. He's a secretive bugger. The only thing that he really tells anybody is the fact this parents referred to him as demon spawn and often relates the story that his mother found him on the side of the road, beside a cabbage patch, under a rock within a snake egg that held a chrysalis. He was born complete with demon horns and a tail.
? the demon horns somebody might see, the tail is another matter. So is if the story's true or not. Currently Wren lives with Halo, the woman he fell madly in love with and adores, with his five sons ( Mael, Otium, Freyr, Lafe, and Alex. ) along with two feien ( Kojak and Valsharess ), a shadow besides his own ( Hawk's Eye, and Halo's Bloodstone ), a mendel ( Gallium ), as well as many other pets and animals. The house they all live in, he claims, belongs to him, but from the way the others seem to have the run of it, no one would ever be able to tell. Wren doesn't seem to mind Tom and Carmine, nor does he mention how they came to the house, but the only time he ever gets twitchy is when they start paying too much attention to him.
He'd like to not get involved in one of their schemes again, thanks. Right now, Wren works as a novelist, occasionally writing small things for papers and the like. He's basically a free lance writer and apparently the income is good ( or he just has another source of income ). It gives him plenty of time to keep up with the house and look after the kids.

Name: Alejandro ( Alex ) Species: Legend. Born: March 4, 2005. Stage: Baby.
About: The first thing one might notice about Alejandro is the vibrant color of his eyes, how they seem to glow of their own accord. Alex, as he is called, is stronger than any baby really should be, but no one can figure out how he got his strength, or why it seems that he's Lafe's protector ( and the other child hardly seems to mind ). Alejandro is a stubborn child, fierce, and occasionally, if crossed, very willing to bite if necessary. He's sweet, however, and prone to cute moments of running around the house without any clothes on, but hopefully only as a baby.
Name: Halo Species: Human. Born: June 11.
About: Halo is no longer new to parenting after her and Wren got a crash course when Mael first came along. Then Otium. Then Freyr. Then Lafe. The Alejandro -- and you get the picture. Halo sense of humor is far too similar to Wren's at times and both seem to share similar tastes, though their quirks are very different as well as their personalities. ( Her being more right up in front, where Wren's a few feet back and writing on his laptop. ) Halo's got an attitude that she can back up with a bite, if necessary. ( She does have a sweet side, but the few that are allowed to see it are truly lucky. ) The woman can be a romantic and cares deeply for the children she looks after, as well as the menagerie of pets, when they're not doing something too bad.
Name: Mael Daemon: Suffocation Species: Forgotten. Born: September 12, 2004. Stage: Toddler.
About: The first child to grace the household. Wren is Mael's guardian and the demon is still not quite sure what to make of the serpentine child. Mael is, simply, something else. Of all the children, his looks tend to make him stand out the most ( even if next to Otium, Alejandro, and Lafe ), but the odds are he prefers it that way. Mael all ways has his daemon with him, a blood red snake by the name of Suffocation and the two are inseparable. The snake child is devious, it seems, and can have a chilling stare if one is not careful. It's not all ways a good thing to have his attention entirely focused on you.
Name: Otium Daemon: Immaculate Species: Forgotten. Born: October 18, 2004. Stage: Baby.
About: Of the pair of Forgotten boys, Otium is the quiet one, where his brother is, by far, much louder. ( Never mind Mael will make up for his brother's lack of speech, as well as attempt to speak up for him -- as much as he can speak up. ) Like the other children, he's unique in appearance, being completely monotone. Not even Immaculate, his daemon ( cute fuzzy bear-cat ), seems to have a speck of color in her. Otium is a quiet boy, with a fondness for gold and other shiny things, as well as anything of value. It's doubtful anyone's ever going to figure out how exactly he pulls gold coins from his hat when there are none within it.
Name: Hawk's Eye Species: Shadow Fiend. Born: December 28, 2004. Stage: Child.
About: If Wren's ever seen muttering to his shadow, grumbling at it, or otherwise swearing at thin air, the odds are he's griping at Hawk's Eye. Hawk's Eye is a Shadow Fiend, a creature of darkness that lives in Wren's shadow and is constantly around him. Hawk's Eye is mischievous to the bone and is constantly up to something or the other, when not employing is abilities. Despite it all, Hawk likely does care for those that are close to him, but he makes sure it's not noticeable with the mischief and chaos he can cause. Little do most know that Hawk's Eye was a small form of revenge upon Wren for teasing Athan, the apparent benefactor of the Shadow Fiends and whom charged his friend Reyna with helping him out.
Name: Gaitano ( Tom ) Species: Human. Born: April 9, 1959.
About: One half of the pair that's nothing but trouble, at least, a good majority of the time -- or that's what Wren seems to think. Gaitano was, at one point, a headmaster for a prestigious school, as well as a teacher of Astronomy. He's retired however, with his lover Carmine, and has apparently taken up residence in the same house as Wren and Halo, along with their children. No one's sure how they ended up there and Wren and Halo will never talk about it. However, it can be argued that it's better off not knowing. Gaitano's all most all ways got a smirk on his lips and a knowing look in his eyes. The man could charm the stars out of the sky if he wanted to.
Name: Carmine Species: Human. Born: September 2, 1961.
About: The other half of the pair, Gaitano's other half as well. The two men have been involved deities know how long and don't seem likely to break apart anytime soon. Carmine was the doctor at the same school Tom was the headmaster for, and both of them retired at the same time, though they still keep their ties to the place. Occasionally Carmine's used for his physician capabilities, but mostly he's left alone. Now that he's no longer actively practicing, only keeping up on his own, his prices come a bit too high for Wren's tastes ( and the doctor does so like getting favors from people ). More than meets the eye, with a few abilities all his own, Carmine's every bit the kind caring doctor -- to a point.
Name: Freyr Species: Theos, Luna Tribe. Born: Unknown. Stage: Child.
About: Another quiet one, Freyr was put into Wren's charge because he's a child with the powers of a forgotten deity of sorts within him. Though Freyr is not aware of his powers, they being only a quiet murmuring in the back of his mind, he continues to read and learn all that he can to prepare himself for whatever changes come his way and whatever shows it's self within his own mind. Freyr is quiet, usually friendly but removed, and tends to not wear shoes. Most times he's asked to look after the children if Wren and Halo are going out, as sometimes it's just not a good idea to ask Tom and Carmine.
Name: Kojak Species: Feien Faerie. Born: January 14, 2005. Stage: Juvenile.
About: Kojak was, originally, a Secret Santa gift that was a nut -- or a feien bloom if you look at it that way. This young juvenile is a feien faerie, a faerie that will never be much taller than a half an inch in height -- when he reaches the adult stage, that is. Smooth, charming, and with a maturity beyond his actual age, Kojak knows how to take care of himself and is frequently trying to get Wren to realize he doesn't need looking after, usually with a few well placed remarks. Just watch out for the charming smile and realize that he might just be able to back up that which he's saying.
Name: Ripper Species: Totetsu. Born: Unknown.
About: Ripper is a totetsu, a supposedly mythological Chinese beast that has the horns and body of a ram, the teeth and claws of a tiger, and the face of a man. They tended to prey on travelers, eating that of humans and other fleshy things. Wren ended up taking Ripper into his care, only to have Ripper move right out of his arms and into the care of Carmine and Gaitano, who seem to enjoy having the totetsu around very much. It could have something to do with his attitude or the fact that he's a human disposal unit -- literally.
Name: Valsharess Species: Feien Faerie. Born: August 18, 2004. Stage: Juvenile.
About: Halo's bonded feien. This fairy was a bloom given to Halo a while ago and it turned into the cute Valsharess. Then again, while she is cute, not everybody can actually understand the way the young feien's mind seems to work. Not necessarily mysterious, so much as speaking her mind in what could be weird clips and phrases, Valsharess is very intelligent and straight forward. If one is dealing with her, the need to realize that they may just end up hearing what they may or may not wanted to hear.
Name: Gallium Species: Mendel. Born: June 28, 2004. Stage: Adolescent.
About: The mendel that Halo was put in charge of looking after. The mendel, Gallium, probably knows every bad word in the dictionary, then hundreds more beyond that. Gallium, please don't call her Gally, is gothic, dark, and often not somebody that you would want to mess with -- particularly after Tom and Carmine gave her that knife. She's often cynical, but it's toned down some over the past few months, and seeing her hang out with Valsharess, you have to wonder if she's rubbing off on the feien or vice versa. It's highly unlikely. Just watch out for Gallium's bark, because she may not bite you, but she will cut you if you piss her off enough.

Though not the first Legend that Lafe met, Alejandro's arrival marked the point when Lafe stopped crying and actually showed signs of being happy. In most cases, it seems as if Alex is Lafe's protector and the young fox seems to try to do the same -- though not quite as well when he is still hiding somewhat under Alex's cape. Still, the two get along as if they've known each other all of their lives and then some.
Only briefly has Lafe seen Dare and even then, it was nothing but a glimpse of red hair and then the young Legend turning his back on the others and departing from the building entirely.
The first night that Lafe was brought into the Legend HQ, Chandra was present. She tried then to soothe him with a song from her flute, but it did not seem to work then. He has, of course, since then met her and seems fond of her -- if only seemingly trying to comfort the young woman when she appeared nervous and ill at ease, though not at him. Chandra is the only one, besides Alex, that Lafe seems to be comfortable with.
After recently running into Prana again, Lafe has seemed to warm up to her quite a bit. The young Legend also seems to have overcome some of her fear when it comes to the fact that Lafe is a fox. She even gave him the gift of a bead, to help her remember that Lafe is a good fox.
Demare is another that Lafe met his first night to the HQ and a few other times as well. Demare is the first to actually give a gift to Lafe, a single white feather from one of his wings, though the child doesn't remember it. Lafe seems to have deemed Demare tolerable and isn't too fussy around him -- only future meetings will really tell.
Levi's probably the other Legend that Lafe's seen the most of. He's run into Levi a number of times, though at first things seemed a little risky with them getting along, things worked out. Levi's not too forward and it works well with coaxing Lafe slowly out to play. Between Lafe, Alex, and Levi a lot of mischief could be had if the three could get their act and coordination down. As it is, Levi's probably one that Lafe just might consider friend.
Though they only were around each other for a short time, Guinevere possibly didn't leave a good impression on Lafe. She seemed to active for Lafe's tastes and made ill overtones towards Alex, which would never go over well with him in the first place. If anything could actually come from these two meeting again, no one knows.
Another brief encounter that was -- well, it was brief. Probably wouldn't have gone well anyway. Gyre didn't seem to acknowledge Lafe as it was and ... well. She is bird-like, one may wonder if he considers her a potential meal.
Karan is filed under would-be playmates. Lafe, Alex, Karan, and Guinevere all did particpate in a game of rolling a ball around, but before that there was some interest in Lafe. Not quite sure what to think of the other quiet baby, Lafe's still unsure whether or not to actually deem this one okay to have contact with or ... deem him off limits.
Mikhael is probably even more shy than Lafe is, at the very beginning, but once he seems comfortable with another, it's hard to break his attention. Lafe seems to like Mikhael, a new friend, enough that he let the other Legend touch his tail briefly. The baby Legend also let Lafe have one his blue-white feathers, something Lafe's all ready attached to. Those not met ...

an angelic feather Lafe does not quite remember getting this particular gift, but he keeps it with him at all times and no one is quite sure where it's hidden. He seems attached to it and likes to brush it along his cheek. It's still a pure white, as it was when it was pulled off from Demare's wing and handed over to Wren for Lafe to eventually have. A sign of one who would be an eventual friend.

a butterfly clip This was a random gift that Levi attached onto Lafe's tail when they were having a play date. Apparently Lafe found the clip very shiny, and still does though it's now hidden on his person somewhere. He did, however, remove it from his tail later on with his teeth. Rather uncomfortable there, when wagging, despite the shiny factor.

leolam, the drake plushie This is a rather large plushie of a slyph drake, bigger than Lafe, and the fox has a habit of crawling on it or using it as a particularly large pillow when not making use of Alejandro as one He can't quite drag it around the house so Leolam tends to take over the crib Lafe shares with Alex, along with Remiel ( another drake plushie ). One might think they're rather comfortable at night, with so much fluff about to snuggle into.
