Quote: Legend tells a tale of people, tall and lithe, living in the trees. In order to survive, they created masks to barter for food and other supplies. Some masks were magical, granting the wearer the power to turn into the animal the mask represented. These special masks were kept only for the tree people. This ability to change shape garnered the tree people the name of Skinchangers. This is the story of one Skinchanger and her path to rebirth... Gyre was born into the world of the Skinchangers as Daina, daughter of two prominant singers in the treetop village. Their family totem was that of the Birds, thus meaning that every member of the family recieved a mask modelled after a avian. Daina's parents both were gifted with Songbird masks, thus allowing them to transform into a beautiful feathered singer. Daina, however, did not wish to be a singer. Her passion was for the dance. The Skinchangers are a strictly traditional people, and each House (family) had its place in society. The Singers and their children were born into their profession, being taught by their elders through the generations. Daina was not about to comply with tradition. She was given the gift of flight with the Falcon, and she was not about to use it to sing.

Guardian's Full Profile The profile is a modified version of Neko Girl's. Quote: Name - Lu/Luciel (may take Tobias as a last name, but was born without one.) Gender - Female Age - looks 18, is actually 30 Species - Mancubus Height - 5'8" Weight - 120 lbs Skin - Pale white Eyes - Gray Hair - Shoulder length, white-blonde with crimson tips Hobbies - Painting, dancing, caring for her children Distinguishing Features - Two large, bone-colored ram's horns sprouting from the top of her head. Powers/Abilites Can consume up to two times her bodyweight in human flesh. Can regernate lost appendages/organs (except the brain) depending on how much she's eaten. Can manipulate own flesh/grow additions to own skin depending on how much she's eaten. Favorite Color(s) - Crimson, flesh tints, blue, purple (veins) Favorite Food - Just guess. Favorite Saying - "My apologies." About Mancubi- Mancubi are like albinos or redheads - they are a genetic mutation. When an Incubus impregnates a human woman, the chances the child will be a Mancubus are quite slim. Normally, the child carried by the human would be an Incubus. If a Succubus were to be pregnant, the chance that the child would be born a Mancubus is much higher. Mancubi are essentially half-human and half-demon. Would you consider them cannibals? They think not. Mancubi have notorious tempers and a strong dislike of other Mancubi. They hate their kind primarily for territorial and nutritional reasons. Other Mancubi might eat up all the food in one area. Luckily, though, they are few and far between. For every one thousand births between Incubi and Succubi, only one or two Mancubi are born. Mancubi are generally abandoned or killed at birth, since many demons fear their gruesome and "primitive" nature. They are each born with a distinguishing trait - some sort of physical feature, which is unique to every Mancubus. Some have tails, wings, or extra limbs. Many believe that Mancubi would rule the world had they not been cursed with a feature to make them visible to their prey. Without these traits, there would be no distinguishable difference between human and Mancubus. Mancubi can consume two times their own weight in human flesh using razor-sharp teeth and an extremely expandable esophagus and stomach. Their stomach muscles are strong enough to crush about one hundred pounds of flesh and bone without feeling full. They are able to crush the food into a very small, pressurized amount in their stomach. Using the flesh they pull from their stomachs that isn't fully digested, Mancubi are able to harvest the flesh, skin, bones and organs if their own are lost somehow. They can regrow an arm, leg or liver if need be, if the donor flesh or organ isn't already digested. Unfortunately, the brain is too complex an organ to regenerate, even for the most seasoned Mancubi. There are drawbacks, however. Hunger can strike at any moment - it can only be predicted by day, not by hour. Also, their stomachs and body are unable to handle processed foods and drinks like burgers or soda. They cannot eat junk food, essentially. They can, however, satiate their hunger momentarily by gorging themselves on organic fruits and vegetables. It would only help sate their hunger for mere minutes. Their skin is very sensitive, and usually cannot stand much clothing. This exposes them to heat, cold and sunlight. Usually, they are victims of skin diseases. For some reason, Mancubi become almost comatose in an environment similar to the inside of a human body. They fall asleep when things are damp/wet and at about 98.6 degrees F. Mancubi are known to sleep in a dying body to steal its warmth, or just because it feels safe to them. To put a Mancubus out of commission for a while, slip one into a bathtub full of 98 degree water. They're just gone after that. Personality - Lu is one of the few Mancubi with morals and an even temper. Found in a snow-covered dumpster in Durem by an elderly couple, she was raised to be a caring and compassionate human child. Lu learned to control her temper, but was unable to control her hunger. She left home before she might consume her caretakers. She hates the fact that she is despised by other demons, and that she must eat people to survive. Her biggest fear is to eat someone she cares about. She tries to keep her hunger at bay at all costs. She's very paranoid about her hunger, and acts as such when she knows she'll hunger that day. To ease her conscience, she only dines on the worst of society - murderers, rapists, thieves. The scum of the earth. She visits prisons and the seediest parts of town when she needs to feed. She feels that, if she must eat, might as well help the rest of society while she's at it. Despite her nature, she tries to be happy and cheerful. She holds many parties and gatherings to make herself feel less lonely. She becomes very uncomfortable when humans are in the house, so she surrounds herself with non-humans. Just in case. Lu loves shopping, friends and family. Social gatherings are her cup of tea. She becomes depressed and thinks about her parents when alone, so she tries to avoid it at all costs. Secretly, she's extremely vengeful. If anything happens to her friends, family or children, she will stop at nothing to gorge herself on her assailant's loved ones. Even if it takes a while to get to them, she'll be patient.

Falcon - Mask worn as a baby. Represents the Skinchanger value of Freedom. The Falcon mask was the mask Gyre was reborn into Gaia with. She, in her previous life, died in this mask, forgetting the way of Humanity. The mask is still a part of her, and is the source of her stubborn streak. The spirit of the Falcon guides Gyre, allowing her to make the choices she wants for herself. The Falcon will not allow her to bend to someone else's will. The Falcon also grants her the power of flight. Swan - Mask worn as a child. Represents the Skinchanger value of Grace. The Swan also represents Stability, holding firm in the most delicate of poses. This mask represents the life Gyre, as Daina, wanted to have. Though the Swan may seem weak or frail, she is poised and fearless. What may seem like glass may actually be like diamond. The Swan grants Gyre the power of flight, as well as Balance.
