In order to better keep track of which official tribes are active and inactive, we will be doing activity checks!
This thread will remain open year-round so that official tribe owners can post at least once per year to confirm that their tribe is alive and well.
At the end of each year, staff will look over this thread to see which tribes have been active/inactive, make sure activity submissions are all acceptable, send out PMs as necessary, etc.
Failure to stay active can result in a tribe being officially disbanded. If a tribe's activity drops to a standstill or the tribe owner goes missing for one full year, staff will reach out to the owner of the tribe at the end of the year to check in with them and figure out what might be going on. If this lack of activity continues for another year (Example: the entirety of 2022 and 2023), then the tribe will be officially disbanded by the shop. If a user has no posts in the main thread or the guild, no replies to messages, no contact whatsoever, then we consider them to be MIA. More information can be found in the Tribes: A Guide thread!
Activity is shown (at least once a year) by having either:
At minimum, 15 individual RP posts (1 full page of RP) in the tribe's main thread. Having 2 - 4 new members join the tribe, each with a completed Joining Encounter/Confirmation RP.
Rules are subject to change! The only ones posting here should be the owners of official tribes. Anyone else's posts won't count. Those posts will be ignored and deleted.
Don't mess with the form. Just fill it out and post it.
Forms should be posted in this thread. There's no need to PM us your forms or anything like that. Just post them here.
We require at least one post per year for tribes to show they're active. Yep, just one. Tribe owners may post at any time throughout the year, as this allows a bit more leniency for both staff and customers due to how unpredictable life can be. Any extra activity will be rewarded in the future - additional activity check submissions will count towards the shop's upcoming Tribe Reward System, which can earn your tribe all kinds of fun prizes!
No bribing, whining, complaining, crying, etc. We're all adults/teenagers here, so let's act like 'em, alright?
Don't pester us about updating things. Updates will always be completed. However, RL comes first. Please don't pester us about updating this thread or anything like that. However, if your info hasn't been added after one (or more!) month, please PM Modifox to discuss the situation!

Activity Check #1!
It's October, and finally time for the shop's first Activity Check!
If you’ve read the information in this thread and our other tribe-related threads, then you probably know about all of the things we’re about to cover:
In order to remain official, a tribe must show that it is active and pass activity checks. Failure to meet these requirements can result in a tribe being officially disbanded.
Currently, we have a bit of a complicated situation on our hands: Modifoxes has been around for more than a decade. We have quite a few long established tribes, but we have also had many users come and go as years have passed by. With this in mind, the shop’s first check will be a bit strict compared to future ones! I’m going to warn you right now: this initial check will likely result in a few long inactive tribes being disbanded, since many users have left Gaia or gone MIA. But don’t despair - in the grand scheme of things, this is actually beneficial for the shop. This will allow us to finally have accurate, up-to-date tribe info, while also providing official closure to owners who may still have pets in those tribes we’ve been uncertain about for so long. Once we have all that updated information, we can begin planning a lot of fun, exciting new things for tribes, things that we've been forced to hold off on for quite a while...
But we'll talk about that at a later date. We need to concentrate on the current matter at hand.
Onto the actual Activity Check!
Submissions will be allowed from October 1st to October 31st.
Activity is shown by having either:
At minimum, 1 full page of RP in the tribe's main thread since the last activity check during 2021.
Having 2 - 4 new members join since the last activity check during 2021. Further info on joining encounters can be found in the Tribes: A Guide thread.
Once November 1st rolls around, this thread will be locked - submissions cannot be submitted for viewing after closing time, we set the thread to be open all month long for a reason. No late entries, sorry folks! Staff will proceed to look over each form, compile a list of the shop’s active/inactive tribes based on the submissions we’ve received, and post the final results for everyone to read ASAP! Following that, we will be working on updating all of the shop’s info to reflect the results of the first check. Future checks will also occur on a more regular schedule after this first one (see the first post).
As a reminder, when a tribe is disbanded, the following steps take place:
The tribe’s main thread in the guild will be updated to reflect it’s new status as a test tribe. It will no longer be official - as such, pets can no longer obtain the tribe’s mods, pets certed as belonging to that tribe will no longer qualify for certain breedings and events, etc.
If members of the defunct tribe wish to breed or enter any future events, they will be required to have their tribe mods removed and be recerted, in order to reflect their new tribeless status.
If an owner fails to have their pet updated to reflect it’s tribeless status, the pet will have a note applied to them on our Owner’s List, for easy referencing: “Note: TRIBENAME Disbanded - Pet needs to be updated!”
If the owner of the tribe fails to post an Activity Check submission this time around and the tribe is disbanded, then ICly, the tribe will begin to have rumors spread about it, with the general public assuming the tribe has fallen apart due to issues like widespread illness, angered spirits, famine, etc. Unless the owner of the tribe provides an IC reason for the fall of the tribe, there will be no officially confirmed reason, and characters will be left with just rumors to go off of. To make the process easier for any tribe members that may still be active at the time of disbanding, you may have your characters safely assume that their MIA tribe members went missing one day, without any word or indication of where they may have gone.
One final reminder before we let all of you tribe owners hop to it: a tribe being disbanded is not the end of the world! It may give you the chance to make updates to your tribe, gather interest, and obtain the inspiration and activity you need moving forward. When we announce the results of this first Activity Check, we will also make sure to include info about the process owners can go through in order to make a disbanded tribe official again.

After this, we will no longer be quoting people. It will be your job to maintain your tribes and keep an eye out for tribe-related announcements.

When a tribe is disbanded, they are no longer recognized as an official tribe by the shop - they revert back to the status of a test tribe. In order to ever become official again, they'll need to reapply when tribe applications are open. If a tribe disbands, it can be brought back in the future by reapplying. Disbanded tribes can be brought back by the original owner if they reapply. Or, in cases where the original owner no longer wants to run things, another longtime member of the tribe can have their fox step in as the new Elder, as long as they receive permission (screenshots required) from the original owner! Do not hound owners about taking over tribes, or you will be greylisted. These disbanded tribes that reapply will be treated no differently than all of our other applicants. They will still need to gather the appropriate amount of members and fill out the application form. If a new Elder is taking over and wishes to, then the tribe modification(s) can be changed to something new.
Now, for some info about the next activity check!
We plan on Activity Check #2 happening in January 2022! Submissions will be allowed from January 1st to January 31st.
This will allow the shop to transition to a more regular schedule for our future activity checks. However, compared to our future schedule, we do realize that this is a short amount of time to gather activity, especially with how busy the holidays can be.
To make up for this, the requirements for Activity Check #2 will be cut in half. Based on this, activity will be shown by having either:
At minimum, 8 individual RP posts (half a page of RP) in the tribe's main thread since the last activity check.
Having 1 - 2 new members join since the last activity check.

The Kemet Tribe: Since you actually met both requirements (tribe RP + new members) and only needed to submit one, you're welcome to resubmit those two tribe members during the next activity check and have that count towards activity! Just make sure to nudge the owners to complete the process over in the Joining Approval thread. 👍

Hellooo, tribe owners!
Sorry about all that radio silence! After some chatting and development, the staff team has decided to make some adjustments to the tribe activity check system. Instead of having two set months (January and July) where we require tribe owners to post by a deadline...

This should allow a bit more leniency and wiggle room for both staff and customers, since life can often be unpredictable and mess with plans! Now, if a tribe's activity drops to a standstill or the tribe owner goes missing for one full year, staff will reach out to the owner of the tribe at the end of the year to check in with them and figure out what might be going on. If this lack of activity continues for another year (Example: the entirety of 2022 and 2023), then the tribe will be officially disbanded by the shop.
Since it is a new year and our system has been tweaked, we will be requiring an activity check submission from all of our current tribes! No rush, of course, just make sure to get those done sometime in 2022.

Extra activity (multiple pages of tribe RP or lots of tribe members joining) is highly encouraged and will be rewarded in the future. In fact, additional activity check submissions that are posted after your first one for each year will count towards the shop's upcoming Tribe Reward System, which can earn your tribe all kinds of fun prizes. We also have an ongoing, handy little list in the second post of this thread where we'll be keeping track of all the activity submissions, so feel free to make submissions anytime. One last thing: all relevant threads should be updated to reflect this new update!
