History of the Solarie Tribe
The Solarie Tribe was formed by Conundrum after his first Tribe, [uhh] Tribe, disbanded. While Conundrum still thirsted for knowledge and appreciated all of the endeavors of his Tribe, when the membership declined, he knew it was a sign that it was time to move on.
So he did move on - he moved all over the world, or at least it felt like it, until he came to the desert. The scorching heat and blinding sun put the world into stark contrast for him - it made him see himself and the world clearly for the first time in a very long time.
So he stayed. Foxes who had been part of his former Tribe stayed with him, and foxes who had wandered in the desert were drawn to him. Eventually, he realized that it fell to him to care for these foxes - that they were more than just a group of strangers. They were a Tribe, and they needed Tribe lands. They began wandering, together, helping each other survive, until they found what would become the Solarie Tribe Lands - a real pool of deep, cool water surrounded by the sort of trees that grew in the desert, that looked like a mirage in the distance, except that it was real, and beautiful, and perfect.
Until it dried up.
The pool emptied. The trees died.
Solarus had abandoned them.
Or at least, that's what Conundrum thought, for a very long time. His Tribe fell apart, again, Conundrum was ashamed, and furious at himself. Solarus had left them, and so they left the Tribe lands.
Conundrum wandered. He wandered, and wandered, and wandered. He thought he'd seen the whole world, but he was wrong - there was more to see. Over the years, his rage at himself and at Solarus faded, and was replaced by a soft, slow ache in the center of his chest.
He began to have dreams about the Solarie Tribe. First it was memories, and then stranger foxes began to feature - foxes he'd never met before, who weren't part of the Solarie Tribe that had disbanded years before. He tried to ignore it - he tried, and tried, and tried.
He failed.
He didn't know he failed, at first, of course. He thought he'd buried the regret and the angst long behind him, but then...
But then, Conundrum found the new Solarie Tribe lands. He couldn't explain how he knew, but he did - the stone outcropping, with the deep, cool caves. The sandy, rocky, dry and grassy land, a savannah with more than enough game to hunt, and several shallow pools of fresh water that would be easily claimed and defended.
Conundrum still tried to deny it to himself. As he prowled around the land, marking the territory, he told himself that he was not ever going to lead a Tribe again. Obviously - he had two Tribes, and he'd failed them both, and he didn't deserve getting a third chance. And even if he did deserve another chance (which he didn't), Solarus had abandoned him. Abandoned them. There could be no Tribe without a deity to worship, a deity to protect them, and Conundrum was all out of belief in any kind of God or Goddess now.
Until one morning, when Conundrum was awoken, sharply, and felt a pull. It was guiding him to the very top of his outcropping, the highest point in his territory. It was still the blue-purple shadowed light of pre-dawn then, but by the time he reached the top, the sun was beginning to rise above the horizon.
The sun was bigger than Conundrum had ever seen it, and a furious shade of red. It was so bright it brought tears to his eyes, but he found he couldn't look away.
The time is now.
The words echoed through Conundrum's brain, and throughout the land. It was like an earthquake, or felt like one - great, disorienting, and dangerous. Conundrum knew that voice, but more than that he remembered the feeling: the feeling of being touched, briefly, by a power far too enormous for him to ever fully understand: Solarus himself, deigning to bless Conundrum with four little words that would change everything, again.
The light brightened still, brighter and brighter, until Conundrum had to look away. He shut his eyes and turned his head, the heat scalding his fur - when the light and heat faded, Conundrum thought perhaps he'd be completely bald, burned away.
He wasn't, though. He was fine, if breathless - and at his feet, there were two BCRs. They were black, and silver, and gold, and Conundrum felt tears well in his eyes and spill over. This was a gift from Solarus, in addition to his order. The time was now, and the time was for these two little foxes.
Conundrum looked from the BCRs back to the rising sun.
Conundrum pleaded, begged to know that Solarus was sure - that he hadn't made a mistake. Hadn't Conundrum already tried and failed? What made him worthy? How was he supposed to create a Tribe - another Tribe - when he was all alone? What was he supposed to do? What if he ruined these two little live as well?
The answers came to him slowly, after days of prayer. He was out of practice, but Solarus evidently didn't seem to mind. He started with his children - his daughters, grown now with their own lives, but still believers in Solarus. Still believers in him, though he didn't know why. It developed from there. His grandchildren, their friends and mates, even some members of the original Solarie Tribe, willing to return and give him that level of trust once again. He tended to the BCRs first by himself, then cautiously allowed his daughters to take over their care, day to day. They hadn't been born, not the usual way, and so no one knew how long it might take for them to emerge - but Conundrum had faith that they would, eventually, join them in the light.
He had to have that faith. For himself, and for his...for his Tribe, again.
The pressure was nearly crushing, but now, instead of despair, there was strength, a confidence he'd almost forgotten how to feel. He had learned, he told himself. Solarus wouldn't have picked him. again, for no reason. Who was Conundrum to question a literal God? Maybe it was Conundrum's ego that had gotten in the way in the first place. Maybe he'd been selfish to give up on Solarie, all those years ago.
Well, he wouldn't fail again. He couldn't. He refused to give up this time; this would be a home for his family - his Tribe - and they would be proud to call themselves Solarie once more.

About the Solarie Tribe
- Culture
The Solarie Tribe has a generally positive nature. They are friendly foxes, who are unafraid of helping or asking for help. The Solarie Tribe believes in the light - literal and metaphorical. Darkness and evil have no place in the Tribe...but foxes who are interested in, or are believed to have potential, are welcome to join the Solarie Tribe as they travel out of their own personal darkness.
- Religion & Beliefs
The Solarie Tribe worships the Modeity of the Sun, Solarus. They do not believe he is the sun, so to speak, but they do believe that the sun is the physical manifestation of Solarus' will, love and power. Worship and praise is given to the sun and Solarus when good things happen, and prayers and offerings are made when requests are made. Offerings are left out in the sun, so as to be dried (or, as they believe, 'taken') by the sun. Members, especially Scouts, are meant to protect offerings from carrion eaters and thieves.
- Holidays
Solstices: The Solarie Tribe celebrates the days of equilibrium.
First Founding: The day celebrating when Solarus first guided the original Solarie Tribe to its first location.
Final Founding: The day celebrating when Solarus contacted Conundrum again and demanded the Solarie Tribe be reformed.
Summer Haze: Throughout the summer, there are regular feast days and parties, praising Solarus' greatness and bounty. The hotter, the brighter, the better.
Dark Months: The sun does not stop existing during the wintertime, but it can sometimes be difficult to feel its warmth. During this time, the Solarie Tribe builds fires that burn all winter long without fail, to remind each other and Solarus that there is always light in the darkness, and that light will always return.
Joining Celebration: There's always a party when a new member joins. In the case of multiple new members, there is one big party, instead of individual celebrations.
Expansion Celebration: Any time kits are born into the Tribe, it is a joyous occasion. The parents are doted on during the pregnancy, and when the BCRs arrive, the whole Tribe gathers at dawn to welcome the kits into the light of the world. The process is repeated when the kits emerge from the BCRs and experience the sun's light for the first time.
Confirmation Celebration: When a kit is old enough to choose to stay in the Tribe, it is an honor felt deeply amongst the whole Tribe, as they acknowledge choice at all points of life - the choice to stay being paramount to the Tribe's survival. Once the kit has met with the Elder and confirmed their desire to stay, they are welcomed into the Tribe as a full member, and any position-based rank and abilities are transferred during that celebration.
- Personality Types
Generally, The Solarie Tribe is open to anyone, regardless of personality. However, chaotic foxes, or foxes that have no interest or potential in becoming kinder, lighter foxes than they are, may find themselves uncomfortable within the Solarie Tribe. However, if a fox has experienced hardship that has negatively impacted them, they are more than welcome to find themselves again with the Tribe. Basically, if a fox is evil for the lulz, it won't work, but if a fox wants to be good, the Solarie Tribe will do everything it can to help them.
- Modification
I reallyyyy gotta dig up the mod again, but it's a sun.
