~The want of a Animal~ Class Solo
If there was one word to describe Shima it was persistent, all the local wild life had learned to give the home where she, her siblings and parents lived a wide berth with her dedicated and borderline obsessive need to find herself an animal companion. It wasn't because she was lonely, she had her brother and sister for company, but she had a vision to one day ride upon a Radaku, swiftly through the forest to help anyone in need.
Well today it was a Radaku, other days it switched to kifna as well any other animal she had seen being ridden in her travels. It would be awesome to be able to travel and get something more exotic, she had heard of one woman who had tamed a janarim, a ferocious looking beast from Oba. But given her, wandering nature, her inability to abide to rules her parents set for her she had been forbidden to leave the forest without one of her parents chaperoning.
Normally even this rule would be accidentally forgotten but her mama Jerarda was a scary woman when she wanted to be and her threat to tie her to a tree for three days felt like something she'd carry through with. So reluctantly she was stuck trying to tame something from Jahaur and though she had wondered about trying to tame a menzuri that idea was crushed when it was explained to her that it wasn't possible to control the massive spider like creatures. There was that youthful arrogance, ignorance and pride that for awhile had convinced her it must be possible, and she'd be the first to do it!
After her mother found out her plans to go out capture a egg or menzuri hatchling to bring back feed and tame, not only was leaving Jahaur forbidden but going deep into menzuri territory. The second was easier to conveniently forget, but even asking tamers on how to do it, every single one told her it was impossible and far too dangerous to attempt. The idea soured and quite honestly was beginning to sound like too much work, so she was stuck trying to find a Radaku or kifna.
Now Shima wasn't stupid, she knew catching a wild adult creature of either type would spell disaster. You had to catch them while they were young, she just didn't realize how young it needed to be. Often harassing adolescents of either species led to her being chased by the parents or the creature itself. Radakus had a inquisitive nature when young but as they were bonding to their pack mates they often chased after her if she got too close. kifna on the other hand were ferociously protective of their babies even the fledglings. Getting close to one of them was tedious and you needed great hunting skills or luck to even get close to a nest, of which shima had neither.
Her desire to get a familiar was borderline obsessive and the longer she went without one the more desperate she became in trying to aquire one. Trying to set humane traps, ones that would leave the creature relatively unharmed but contained was also fool hardy. They were often too scared to be calm and on high gaurd. When she tried to befriend them teeth snapping and claws raking in her direction were often her rewards.
All her attempts had been failures, not that this dissuaded Shima from trying over and over.
Leaning against the tree Shima observed the world around her. Why did it have to be so hard to get a familiar? Sighing she rolled her neck then her shoulders. Well it wasn't going to stop her from acquiring one... Pushing off from the tree she picked up her mothers spear and continued on her search.
Perhaps she could find something...anything in the forest that wasn't alerted to her presence yet. It was going to be tricky but she knew that it would be worth it.
Hoping down from that branch she was at to a lower own , she scanned the forest around her, tapping a foot against the branch she currently stood upon. It was lower to the forest floor and thus it would be easier to see if anything was coming by. Although reckless she had picked up the nack of sitting completely still. It helped so it seemed to lure unsuspecting creatures with her reach.
Though those were becoming few and far between. They were wise to her antics even as serious as she was about getting one. Taking a slow deep breath she tried to even out her breathing, allow her body to remain relaxed and yet tense in case she needed to spring into action. A difficult pose to maintain as she seemed to have too much energy to burn at the moment.
Giving up she gave a bit of a growl before stretching. She was going to have to go out further if she was going to find any creatures who would be 'willing' to be her mount. Should she head west? Or north? Unfortunately going east meant she would be going in the direction of the dead forest...perhaps she could..accidentally...head that way.
Whistling she turned in the direction she wasn't suppose to go in a nearly giddy hop to her step. Though she had never made it to the dead forest before she was very interested in what to find there.
