In his mind, strangers are just friends you haven't met yet, and he greets all passerby with a grin and a wave and the hope that they will forge a strong bond. He doesn't generally expect this, and isn't exactly the most trusting at the onset, but he is a sweet, charming boy.
He has no trouble growing attached to people or items, and will very openly advocate for people to follow what they believe in and do what they want to do. He is encouraging and adamant about keeping other people happy, but lacks any real drive or sense of urgency when it comes to himself. While he can be put down without too much difficulty, he prefers not to show it and tries his best to maintain a polite and charming attitude. Unless he is actively attacked, his friends are unjustly insulted, or the things he cares about are put in immediate danger, Dravi waves most problems off. As a whole, he'd rather work things out with compromise as opposed to blows and always gives people the chance to be civil, even if they don't deserve it. Because of his uncontrollable empathy to people in pain, he tries not be the cause of any undue stress, but at the same time, he doesn't want to be the recipient of pain just to spare someone else. He can be a bit selfish and careless in that way.
He's particularly unwilling to be helpful to others if he's been hurt by them in the past. Dravi isn't vindictive or diabolical, but a simple smile does not mean he is on the best terms with his companions. If an effort must be made and he has to go out of his way to aid someone who is generally cold, careless, crass, and downright mean to him, he probably won't. He has no interest in revenge and no desire to cause pain, but his honest to goodness trust can be a very difficult thing to gain and an extremely simple thing to lose. And not having it tends to make Dravi as unreceptive as he possibly can be to others' plight. He enjoys company and finds that he is happier when he smiles and laughs with others, but for the most part, he really doesn't enjoy most people all that much. Even the smallest and gentlest have a dark side, and Dravi doesn't want to be wrapped up in other people's problems.
Though he is charming and friendly to the vast majority of people, he isn't at his 'best' until he's obtained that higher level of attachment.
However, once his loyalties are won, Skadravi can be an immeasurably wonderful companion. He wants to be there for people he trusts. He wants to help them, protect them, care for them, love them, trust them, dote on them, soothe them and any number of other things. Around his friends, he is warm, playful, a bit teasing, childish, generally louder than with strangers, and also incredibly handsy. When Dravi feels comfortable enough to openly touch someone is when you know you've made a friend. He has a tendency to wear himself out to please those he is close to, but doesn't seem to mind overly-much. For the people he loves he will go to great lengths, any lengths to keep them happy, safe, comfortable, and entertained. Description: Prentice Skadravi has a thick mane of dark red-brown curls that sweep around his face and his shoulders and end between his shoulder-blades. He has the patchy eyebrows of his Matori heritage and the yellow, horizontal-pupiled eyes to match. His ears are the webbed fins of the Water Earthlings, tan in color and tattered at the edges. Much of his skin is blue-gray (around his forehead, his cheeks, the sides of his neck, his shoulders, his back, the front of his arms, the top of his hands, his hips, the front of his legs, and the tops of his feet) and spattered with light cream speckles. His ears, his face, his throat, his stomach, the back of his arms, his palms, the back of his legs, and the bottom of his feet are all a more tan color. He has the large, bright orange crystals of his Oban blood across his shoulders. Clothes are rag-tag, tattered and nothing too out of the ordinary or special. Pickpocket Physically, Skadravi maintains the same characteristics as he did as a Prentice. His skin, hair, eyes, and markings remain unchanged, save for the exception that his hair is a few inches longer. After being attacked, he also has an assortment of whip scars across his back, ranging from thin, welted streaks to deeper, severely pock-marked imprints. He hasn't developed a great deal of muscle, but neither is he skinny. He still dresses in primarily Oban-themed attire. Thief Dravi is growing from a dopey-looking boy to a dopey-looking man. He is by no means short or weak and has finally begun fill out his figure in terms of muscle definition. His hair is a bit longer, and he's going to a bit more effort to see that he's presentable because of his new girlfriend. Now that he's been living in Matori, his attire will start to reflect that a bit more. He's also taken up thievery again, earning himself a few shiny bits and accessories. H I S T O R Y
Skadravi did not grow up in a warm and welcoming environment. His father was a Matori slave to the Obans, one who had no right to be ogling the beautiful young daughter of his masters. But ogle he did, and when the young woman noticed his attraction, she couldn't help but play with him a little. Zhakara was a devious girl in her own right. Though not of noble birth, her family was not poor, and they did impose a hearty set of regulations upon their daughter. The strict rules only spurred her into mischief, and she soon found herself tangled in the warm kisses and soft whispers of the slightly older Matori servant.
One thing led to another, though, despite their increasing intimacy, Zhakara never pretended to have any real feelings for the man. He was a tool, as all servants were. So when she found herself pregnant by their combined efforts, Zhakara was full of loathing for her servant, concerned of her own choices, and overall afraid of what her parents would think and do to her, to him, and to the unborn child. More than once she considered doing away with her burden. At least she would be spared then.
But the Matori man begged her to keep it, raise it, and care for it. He pleaded to Zhakara: it was unlikely he would have any children of his own, and even if he did they were likely to be taken as servants somewhere else. At least with her, he could be at ease knowing his child was with its mother. Her fears aside, Zhakara kept the child. When her parents found out, they had their Matori servant executed, and Zhakara disowned.
Her life was not easy after that, and her troubles passed on to Skadravi. Though she didn't feel much connection to the child during her pregnancy, once he was born, she grew to love him quite strongly. He was her only constant, and she was his. She did her best to protect him from the hateful and accusatory glares and spits from her fellow Obans, but even a small child could sense how unwelcome he was.
In an effort to ease her life and his, Zhakara married an Oban man only a year after his birth, and later had a daughter per Kanovu's demands. Dravi isn't exactly welcome in their home, and frankly Zhakara isn't entirely enthused to be there, herself. She tends to him when she can, but she's hardly better than a servant, herself, and Dravi is basically the family dog.
When the call to arms went out during the war, she went eagerly to the battlefield, bringing her teenaged son along with her. While she is technically still married, she doesn't hold any belief that her husband is loyal to her and has chosen to stay in Juahar with Dravi. While she sets up, he was sent out to reclaim his half-sister Zenagi and return to the forests with her. Dravi was not long for Juhar. Almost immediately after depositing his sister, his mother gave him leave to return to Oba, steal supplies from his father, and set out on an adventure of his choosing.
Dravi bided his time in Oba, and soon came across a beautiful young woman named Khalel... Her desire to travel to Matori fueled him forward, and Skadravi attempted to make due on his mother's wishes. The theft went awry, and the young hybrid found himself badly injured at his stepfather's hands. Though he didn't achieve what he hoped to, Khalel came to his rescue, nursed him back to health, and the pair set out for Matori immediately after.
Fast Fingers: The thief’s hands seem to move too quickly for the eye to catch. Adds +3 damage, and any opponent who tries to dodge receives a -2 to their dodge roll. Can only be used once every 3 turns. Considered a full turn action.

Tricks of the Trade: Where did that extra dagger come from? A thief always seems to have an ace or two up his sleeve... Roll for hit and damage; the main attack does damage as normal, but the extra dagger adds 1/4 damage onto the main attack. Can be used once every 2 turns. Considered a full turn action.

-- Though he's not doing very well at keeping her out of trouble, the things Dravi obtains during his adventures with Vecari help him do a bit better for himself and have a little fun while doing it. -- That being said, despite Keniza's alleged blindness, she knows what they're up to and imposes yet another warning on him. -- Meeting Vecari's daddy, the fence. --On a certain expedition with his sometimes-but-not-girlfriend, Dravi encounters a magically glass-blowing protege and her wares. While their initial interaction was accidental, Skadravi decides he likes playing with and teasing the slightly younger female. -- More encounters with Kyril. She seems to like playing with him too... -- With Vecari displeased with Dravi's attention being split between her and some younger girl, she sets him up for failure, and between her, Keniza, and the guard, things just go downhill from there.

She's friendly, playful, funny, cute...She's really cute. And she's excitable in the most adorable of ways. We got along pretty well, I think. Maybe very well. If I hadn't been out moping about my most recent relationship, maaaybe there could've been... something more there. I think she would've been into it.'

Familiars ❤Ruindego: A dark purple bushi with bright blue markings that Dravi has had as a pet for a long while. 'I think he's technically considered the 'family pet,' but we all knew he was always mine. What would a Matori creature want with a bunch of Fire masters? I'm at least half Water, so he can appreciate that. Dego can be a little slow and nonchalant about things, but I don't mind. I've got nowhere to be in a hurry. The only thing that concerns me is how much he eats... I dunno how to keep up with all that yet.'
My NPCs ❤Ada: A shop keeper that helped Dravi get all dressed up for dinner at his employer's house. Short Description: Ada has lived and worked in Matori all her life. She owns her own boutique that generally serves young women who are preparing for their marriage ceremonies. She is a brisk woman, with little time for nonsense, and she clearly cares very about her work and takes it seriously. But she's also undeniably kind and willing to help out even the most wayward of boys in their time of need. 'We knew each other well enough before I had to beg her for help, but not so well that I could actually expect her to help me out of the goodness of her soul. She did, anyway, mind you, though I think it was probably because Keniza had me backed into a corner, basically... And she felt bad for me. Either way, I'm really very grateful for the help, though I'm still not too sure if my style and Ada's match very well. Also, she saw me naked. Dunno how I feel about that, either.' ❤Kanovu: Politely dubbed Dravi's 'step-father,' even if he shows very little interest in the hybrid boy. Short Description: A scowling, entitled Oban man with a dark smattering of freckles across his cheeks and a thick build to his body. His crystals creep up his neck and his eyes are a hardened brown color. Wears his hair in a thick mat of dreads. He is never especially pleasant to be around, both Skadravi and Zhakara can attest to that, but worse than that is his blatant racism and the spite he has for his wife and her first-born son. After a violent whipping, Dravi doesn't plan on seeing him again. 'While I've been in contact with Kanovu for as much of my life as I can remember, I'd scarcely say that I know him, and I certainly don't like him. Which is fine, since he doesn't really seem to like me or my mother either, for that matter. I think the only reason he married her was because he enjoyed the thought of having complete control over her life. She needed him, and he found that pleasing. It's actually rather disgusting. He doesn't want me- filthy hybrid scum- in his presence, and I find I don't want to be there, anyway. I'd much rather be outside than in his house.' ❤Keniza: The woman that is currently both blackmailing and employing Dravi. Short Description: An old, old woman that is nearly blind and deaf but still shuffles around with perfect clarity. She is not kind of gentle, and she doesn't care much for feelings, but Skadravi somehow managed to land a job with her by pure happenstance. She works him hard and is very strict in her desires, but Dravi is passive enough to let it fly. Not much gets to him, including the verbal abuse of some ancient Water lady. 'I- ahhh... have mixed feelings about her, I guess? On the one hand, I really did need that job. Having food and a place to sleep at night is always welcome too. On the other hand, she kind of expects a lot and the conditions for my employment aren't the most clear? Also, if I can't live up to her standards and do what is expected of me, I'll be run out of town. I don't really understand the degree of power she holds here.' ❤Laos: A younger boy that is Keniza's grandson. Short Description: The youngest of Keniza's known grandchildren. He is just a boy, but already he is struggling with a fear of being unwanted and unappreciated. His father is apparently a no-good thieving vagabond, and abandoned his children with Keniza. And Kenixa herself isn't especially receptive to the whims and needs of children. Laos feels unloved and unnecessary, but he and Dravi seem to get along alright. 'I gotta admit that I feel pretty bad for him. The poor boy is younger than me and already struggling with his place in the world. He seems perfectly capable of helping out his grandma on his own, but instead she hired me to do the task... I'm not sure if he blamed me initially, but we had a little chat at our initial meeting, and I think we're on decent enough terms now. Poor kid'll probably take whatever friendships he can get.' ❤Vecari: Keniza's wayward granddaughter and Skadravi's partner-in-crime. Short Description: The oldest of Keniza's known grandchildren. She is a couple years older than Skadravi, as well as Laos' half-sister, from her father's side. She is extremely mischievous, playful, and not afraid of getting in trouble. She's also inherited her grandmother's penchant of not caring whose emotions she drags down with her. She's somehow managed to pull Skadravi back into thievery, despite the fear his own stepfather instilled in him during their last meeting. 'I, uh, well, I can't really dislike someone who'll crawl into bed with me most nights, now can I? But that absolutely doesn't mean I trust her. Vecari is a she-demon in disguise, let me tell you. Troublesome, but chipper, and a right handful... Though she seemed like the type of girl to use and then lose her partners (more for the stealing than the sex), I think I've managed to convince her that I'm not much up for that role. If she needs my help, she's going to take it and everything that comes with it, so yeah. Maybe we'll get in trouble. I'm not going down alone, though.' ❤Zenagi: Dravi's younger half-sister by two years. Short Description: A small Oban girl with nearly black skin, black hair, and bright red eyes. She is much smaller in stature than Dravi and wears confidence like a cloak. She has small dots of orange crystals about her shoulders. Unfortunately, she's about as attached to him as oil is to water. Zenagi fears (and is actually correct) that her mother favors Skadravi, and so has adopted a bitter distaste for him, fueled by his hybrid blood and unfortunate parentage. 'She... has a way of taking after her father, unfortunately. Still, she is legitimately of my blood, and as her older brother, it is my duty to see that she is appeased and well-cared-for. Just because she has a bad attitude doesn't mean I must. My mother raised me well, after all. It is clear that Zenagi isn't fond of me, and she gets her shots in when she can, but... to be honest, it's a little sad. She hates me because her father commands it and because she knows Mother loves me more. It is a sad existence.' ❤Zhakara: Skadravi's mother, who he inherits much of his adventurousness, playfulness, and overall goodness from. Short Description: A full-Fire woman that's a bit broader in stature. She has warm bronzed skin and pitch-dark curls hanging over red-clay-colored eyes. Her face is round and full, and she has a button nose. Her crystals are broad and thick around her shoulders, neck, and forearms. She is generally very easy going, though she does have an unfortunate tendency to shy away from displeasing situations. She dotes on her son very much, knowing full-well that she is the only one there for the task. Sometimes that means putting her younger daughter on the back burner... 'My mother dearest. I'm not so foolish to think that she hasn't made any mistakes, but... she tries her hardest. She's sweet, caring, does her best to supply me with all the attention and love I need. She invites me anywhere she goes, and genuinely tries not to force me to do anything. She can be strict, and isn't quiet about her own feelings (particularly when she's unenthused about my actions) but she's giving it all she's got. Both with me and with Zenagi. I do wish she'd pay a bit more mind to the state of her home affairs, though. But it's too unpleasant for her, I suppose.'
