Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Currently Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

- Learning magic after returning to Matori to live with her family-
PostPosted: Fri Oct 28, 2016 6:53 pm

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Kyril Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

Name:Kyril
Race; Water 1/2, Fire 1/2
Gender Female
Orientation: Unknoqn
Personality: Seemingly a very mature young lady who is extremely focused on whatever task is at hand. Currently her biggest passions are learning more about the mystic arts and using the element of fire and wind to craft delicate glass treasures. However, while she looks regal and elegant on the outside she does tend to have a short temper and a smart mouth when pressed. She is very loyal and loving towards her family and would do anything for their benefit.

She's the type to love and adore those close to her but to hold any strangers at bay. Her life is already so full of work and family relations that she doesn't really care to waste time on anything else.

Favors Stained glass, gemstones, shells, water, stories from her mother, sleeping, and music/dancing.
Dislikes Sour things, Loud people, Crowds, Too much attention, and others telling her 'no'
History The only daughter of Dexurn and Shadiya. As such she was a super spoiled child who didn't want for much. Her family grew in Matori in a nice manner and she has retained much of her childhood by loving the ocean and swimming. Anything that reminds her of the sea while in Oba is cherished while she also enjoys watching dancers who make her think fondly of her mother.

When her noble heritage was revealed the girl struggled to change herself from a wild child into more of a noble lady. Her short temper got reigned into a more distant attitude and she picked up etiquette expected of her class status. As she grew older and learned of her passion for crafting Kyril left home and became an apprentice to an oban craftswoman who was famous for her glass work.

Leaving behind the luxuries of her home has been a bit hard but it has helped to shape the young woman into the hardworking crafter that she is today. She's still got a lot to learn about the country of Oba and about her own self but for now she's content in growing her skills as an artisan.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Apprentice Solo 1 - Magic Within Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

She enjoyed watching how the sunlight shimmered along the ocean waves. While she had been in Sauti and Tale the girl had simply been enjoying the foreign scenery but there truly was something enchanting about the ocean. As the wind caressed her skin Kyril smiled faintly. It is good to be home. Though the reasoning still threw her off. Was she truly prepared to be an older sister? Just because they had a bigger house didn’t mean that Kyril was prepared for babies in coming. What if their mother had twins again like her and Koril? Kyril shook her head. Surely not!

Oh, but there were so many worries running through her mind! What if she failed at taking care of the little ones? She was so accustomed to just running around with Koril and keeping him out of trouble was tough enough! Oh gods what if the babies were all like Koril? Or what if her mother kept expanding on the family? Her parents were still super in love, which was great, but so dangerous if they wanted to keep small numbers in their family. Just the thought sent a flush across Kyril’s face. Eew! Don’t think about that. And then would the house even be finish in time? Or what if her mother got sick while pregnant? Kyril had heard about dangerous births before and the thought sent a shiver down her spine. Mother is strong, I believe in her. But did she believe in herself as a potential older sister? Would she get jealous? Would she get too frustrated with little ones when she had gotten accustomed to an older household that wasn’t in chaos...too often? Oh, her mind was swirling with so many worries! This definitely wasn’t helping her stress or the amount of exhaustion that was wearing her down lately.

“Just focus on the nice weather.” Kyril glanced out across the sea and raised her hands to catch the ocean mist as the waves crashed along the shore, “Oh!” Laughing the girl shook her head as an especially strong wave sent droplets everywhere. It was so pretty! Kyril’s gaze widened as the sunlight shimmered through the air and caught the droplets. If only she could slow them down so that she could truly remember this image. If only, right? But her heart was light and humming with something that felt cool yet powerful. What if she could stop time for a second? It was a magical thought indeed. One that made her lashes suddenly lower over her eyes as her mind seemed to just stop. Her body was going on its own as she felt lost in a haze. A haze that numbed her swirling thoughts yet was more comforting than scary.

Entranced as another wave crashed along the shore Kyril found herself taking a step forward. Her gaze gleaming with a golden light the girl’s fingers reached out to touch one of the fat droplets. If only it would shimmer like glass...like ice. The saltwater chilled in her fingers before falling into her hand like a pearl. A pearl of perfectly frozen water. How beautiful. Then as the wave receded and it felt as if the trance had broken Kyril found herself flinging the ice from her hand. How?! A light flush decorated her cheeks as she took hasty steps away from the water. Again? “Stop it Kyril.” What was wrong with her? She had done this once before….and the thought terrified her.

No one in her family was magical. No one at all. Kyril opened and closed her hand in dismay. What if I wanted to become a dancer like mother? She wasn’t meant to be a fighter. Even if she enjoyed throwing a punch here and there the girl had always dreamt of becoming a fine lady. Wouldn’t magic change that? I have to be my mother’s daughter and my father’s as well. So where did this sudden change come from? Kyril closed her gaze in frustration. It only happened when she was either exhausted or super stressed. Which would be both right now. What if her next magical pulling actually made her go into the ocean completely? Would be a shame to wake up not only drenched in water, but in the middle of nowhere since going out to sea. Kyril sighed at the thought since it would be quite a shame to waste the pretty outfit her mother had bought for her.

“Not that I can complain since the droplet was pretty.” Kyril glanced around on the sands to pick up the shimmering thing, “It’s just like glass.” She smiled at the sight of it before tossing the tiny pearl of ice up in the air. She had always adored glasswork. It was a perk of having some wealth since she could beg her parents to let her buy a paperweight or some other art piece. At home there was a collection - which reminded her to go and hide those once the baby came. The last thing she needed was to hear some crashes and find not only a destroyed collection but a bleeding baby as well.

Still, thinking about her family wasn’t solving the situation at hand. What was she going to do? If she didn’t work with her magic then it could consume her. Her mind swirled with more worries. She had heard about bad things happening to those who couldn’t control their magic or even more about those who had gotten too crazy with magical abilities. It all put dread in her heart. Would she change because she had powers now? Would that separate her from her family? Koril especially...he was such a loving dork, but what if she accidentally hurt him? Like what if he saw her in a haze or if he frustrated her one day and she just lashed out? Or if she was trying to help him and then lost control then as well? Oh gods! What if she did hurt him or she got frustrated with the new little ones coming and accidentally used magic on them?

“No, no, no!” Kyril raised her hands up to cover her finned ears as the thoughts kept swirling. An emotional outbreak was the last thing she needed right now! But of course the power swirled out before sending a shatter through the secluded beach. The next thing Kyril new intense heat was around her and she found herself slipping on a shimmering patch of sand...no glass? Blinking the girl reached out a hand as the sands instantly cooled into a new form. Had she done that? “I suppose the heat of my frustrations really burned through the sands.” She whispered in amazement. It was pretty.

It made her think of all the glass art she adored once more. What if? What if she could still become an artisan, but use magic to her advantage? “I don't’ have to be a healer nor do I have to fight.” She tilted her head thoughtfully as some ideas bounced around. There were possibilities. Always there were possibilities. Her parents had taught her that long ago. And then she also had her newest friend who was learning to be a rune mage as well.

“She wasn’t so freaked out like I was.” She seemed so much more eager to embrace it. Was that Kyril’s problem? “I was too busy stressing and letting myself go when in truth I think I was happy with this all along.” She could turn her magic and create something beautiful with it. Though Kyril had to wrinkle her nose, “I’m not much of one for lugging around something heavy so I guess runes may work.” She was glad she had made a friend with a mystic in training so that she knew about those. And she could make beautiful runes as well to help her out!

It was perfect. Kyril smirked as she finally took a few more steps towards the ocean, “I suppose I could always begin to practice now.” Though she didn’t know how she would tell her family that out of all things she was becoming a mystic. I’m sure it will be alright. She was blessed after all with love and support. Not everyone could receive that so Kyril treasured it all the more. She just hoped that she didn’t startle them or cause a mess while practicing.

“I just need to remain calm.” Kyril kicked off a shoe so that she could touch a toe into the water. It was nice and refreshing and soon would be swirling in front of her as she practiced sending out her magic into the ocean. Little steps, Kyril. Little steps. She couldn’t help laughing as she reached down and scooped up water, “Ah screw it. Let’s just try again.” She stared at the water for a long moment before tossing it above her head where the droplets once more froze and turned into a shimmering rain around the girl.

Kyril accepts that she has magic and finally desires to become a mystic.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Apprentice Solo 1 - Magic Within Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

In this class quest Kyril tries to leave home before realizing that she has been a bit too childish and selfish. Once she realizes this she makes a decision that she should stop being jealous of her younger siblings getting all the attention and instead embrace her role as an older sister. Doing so means that she turns her back on traveling for a bit so that she can remain and home and help to raise the little ones. It's a point of maturity for her as she realizes where her heart truly is - with her family.

“I’m leaving!”

The door closed loudly behind Kyril as she strode away from the manor. This was it. The girl had decided that she was going to go away for a while. She was going to leave home to take up that mentor’s offer and become a great mage. That would show them! Always taking the time to play with the little ones, but never to appreciate all the great things she was doing. She was working constantly now and never had a moment to breathe like in the past. I feel more like a worker than a daughter. She pursed her lips in a pout before heading on down through the streets.

By morning she would be with the caravan and on her way to Tale to go learn more about magic. Maybe she would even venture across to Belrea since her new mentor had decided to learn more about the new land’s knowledge and what magic it held. Now that would be something! She could travel all the way out there and experience the world truly then. No more running around after younglings and trying to set a house in order. She was going to be an independent woman who didn’t need any family and would only focus on taking care of herself!

Shifting her bag on her back Kyril glanced around the familiar beach of her home one final time before heading out. I’m doing this. I’m totally doing this. She after all surely was not at fault for the recent frustration. Her family just didn’t know how to appreciate her! They would much rather spend time with any of the three younglings…ugh why hadn’t her mother just stopped after Koril? She adored Koril since they were twins, but these other babies just came out of the blue. They were totally unnecessary!

Just thinking about it gave her more determination to leave. As she jumped into place on a wagon the girl settled into her seat and looked around. So this was it. She was going to ride with this caravan all the way to Sauti and then from there potentially even go to Belrea. Kyril rotated the stones in her hands nervously. All of this was for magic. For herself. All because no one could appreciate her like she deserved. Kyril nodded firmly as the wagons began to get into motion. She would do this and maybe if they were lucky she would grace them with her presence in a few years. As it was she just had to settle into the motion of this ride…

A few days later the caravan was stopping for a break and Kyril found herself wandering among the variety of characters in the group. Mostly merchants it seemed with a few strangers like her who were hitching rides for a secure passage to Sauti. It’s already chillier. I wonder how Matori is currently? She flushed at the thought before shaking it to the side. She wouldn’t worry about that right now! She had to focus on her future, on her excitement for some adventures. Whoo adventures. For some reason it felt more lackluster today than before. Kyril sighed as she leaned against a tree and continued to watch the activities of the caravan.

“Hey, hey come back here!” A wind girl was chasing after a pair of younger boys. Both of which had mischievous grins across their faces as they raced around. As the girl floundered after them Kyril could only shake her head. She knew where this was going. And as if right on cue one of the boys tripped and ended up scraping his knee. Immediately came the tears and as the girl seemingly flailed about Kyril found herself rising and approaching the trio.

“It’s okay.” Kyril reached out a gentle hand so that she could pat the boy’s head, “We just need to blow on it okay? Gotta chase away the ouchie so we can heal it.” She smiled at the sudden shyness of the child who stopped crying at her sudden approach, “Ready?” She glanced at his sister for confirmation before pulling a hand over his knee and watching the skin patch, “See? All better. Though you know you have to tell your sister that you’re sorry so this doesn’t’ happen more often. If you listen to her then you won’t get ouchies like these, okay?”

“Otay.” He pursed his lips before getting up to grab his sister’s hand, “I sorry, Siri.”

The wind girl smiled gratefully towards Kyril, “Do you need me to pay you for the healing or…”

“Don’t worry about it.” Kyril laughed softly, “I’m just in training and am far from a healer. It was a simple fix so it’s fine. Just go and have fun with your brothers. I’m sure they’ll get in less trouble if you actually play with them.”

“Well it would help if I had extra hands…would you mind playing with us?”

Kyril paused in surprise before finally nodding. The boys were too cute after all so who was she to say no? Plus it reminded her of those back home. Those little troublemakers who actually weren’t quite so bad. Not bad at all. They just got her parents’ attention more than she had expected…but how could they not? Hadn’t she wanted that much attention as a youngling as well?

Or maybe she still had wanted attention now. A flush crossed over Kyril’s cheeks as she waved goodbye to the siblings, “I think I made a mistake.” Playing with the children and being away from home had made her think about things. And the sight of a small trinket given to her by the younglings further confirmed the truth. She missed home. She had only been gone for a few days, but her anger from the tantrum was already fading.

Tantrum? “I suppose I did throw one, didn’t I?” Kyril glanced down at her reflection in a pool of water. Perhaps she was not as mature as she had thought before. I still have a lot of growing up to do myself if I almost made this big of a mistake because of jealousy. The thought made her stomach clench. She had been jealous, but in fact seeing those children playing today made her realize that she truly loved her siblings. Sure she was frustrated at times with constantly having to watch them, but that didn’t mean they were any less endearing to her.

She wanted to be home. She wanted to stay home and help raise them to see them grow. She could learn magic on her own time and didn’t have to go on a grand adventure just yet. Certainly it was tempting as she loved traveling, but it wasn’t her time yet. She just had to let go and go home. Let go of her childish behavior, admit she was wrong, and accept that for the time being that she belonged at home rather than on the road. Even if Koril left…her place was to help her parents out and to see what her siblings would grow into.

Kyril took a deep breath before glancing around, “I suppose I have a rather long walk home. Might as well get started.” That stated she waved goodbye to some of those she knew and prepared a letter for her mentor before turning her back on the caravan and Belrea to instead head home.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Mage Solo 1 - Finding a Hobby Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

What did one do when they had a lazy afternoon to spend?

That was the question that constantly haunted Kyril now that her family had wealth and now that they were limited in travels due to the appearance of the Dretch. It was a frustrating realization to know that your freedom was constantly being limited by dangerous beings who forced curfews upon cities who once never slept until the dawn rose and upon youth such as herself who once danced around great bonfires on the beaches. Now she simply had to pass time with her family, something that Kyril didn’t despise, but it simply wasn’t the same as exploring all the sights of the world. She also didn’t feel like she was content by simply sewing or learning etiquette that her mother had learned as an Oban noble. Nor did she enjoy picking up weapons like her other siblings who enjoyed playfully sparring across the sands by their home. Reading was acceptable, but she had already burned through many books while her stitches and dancing lessons were already on par with others who had spent years on such knowledge.

And all this talk of occupations bothered her. Kyril pursed her lips as she perched on the railing of her balcony and studied the shore below. Certainly she could be fine without a job for a long time since her family had inherited a lot of old wealth and her mother’s dance school had found many sponsors who wished to send their daughters there while they mingled with those who her mother had adopted into the school via scholarships serving as a way to scout talent and to give those without a home a home in Oba. It was a generous deed and one that Kyril really thought highly of her mother for, but it served no part in giving her a feeling of purpose.

Sighing, the young woman leaned against the balcony railing and stared across at the ocean. The colors were indeed memorizing this early in the morning with the way that the golden amber hue spread across the waves like honey on water. Trailing around it were spots of rose and crimson, both colors that she thought looked wonderful when intertwined together, “I wish I could make more colors like that.” She thought as she reached up lazily to touch at one of the many chimes that her family had helped hang around her doors. Even with how the sunlight barely spread across the land the glass orbs were still shimmering brilliantly. All it took was a little light after all - something that made Kyril smile, “I wish I could have the ability to craft these….” She began before pausing with her fingers still clutching at the chimes, “Or don’t I?” Couldn’t she craft such wondrous things? Why not?

Struck by inspiration Kyril darted downstairs and only reached momentarily for one of the fruits lying in a large wooden bowl on top of their dining table, Waving to her cousin who was just coming in from morning sword practice the hybrid simply swished past with her skirts, her mouth silenced by the violet fruit that was held between her lips. Biting down so that the juices flowed over her chin Kyril finally reached up to wipe her skin free of the stickiness before taking a few more bites and tossing the core to the sands, “Surely something will finish that off.” She commented to herself as she continued down the shore. Now the last time she had been to town there was someone travelling with their wares, beautifully designed glass pieces that they advertised for gifts to loved ones for the festival season. They also had mentioned other works, works such as creating giant glass windows of stained colors for noble households of Oba and for temples that wished to glorify the gods of Oba and Matori. One for On’os with the great symbol of fortune and luck shining golden in the red and brown glazed glass and another for Ubeli with sapphire waves and a gleaming silver moon above. Kyril even sported one of their pieces on her dresser at home, a fish made of rainbow scales that shimmered in the light with its tail encircling a base for a small wax candle.

“Excuse me but is that merchant still near here?”

“Ah, the artisan?” An elder nodded before pointing down the beach, “They just began to pack their wares and mentioned finally going down the path to the cities. I think they’re going back to Oba but perhaps you could catch them….”

Already Kyril was running, her bare feet kicking up sand as she rushed away. As teal tresses of hair whipped behind her the mystic continued to push her body, her racing heart that felt as if it would explode, forward. She had to find this artisan and learn their ways! It may have appeared silly to anyone else but Kyril was determined to learn how to craft. Her mother had her dance, her father had his strength, and even her brother was out exploring the world and expanding his talents while she had felt so stagnant. Now that the babies were growing into fine apprentices what could she do? She was no longer required to help babysit or to take care of younglings who didn’t know how to take care of themselves. Sitting at home while doing absolutely nothing was just not fit for her, but nor did she wish to study to become a fighter.

This...this was what she wanted to do.

But as she rounded the corner where the elder had pointed Kyril found it was completely empty. No more stall existed, it was simply a blank space. Her gaze burning the hybrid blinked back the tears as she slowly took a few defeated steps forward, “I’m too late.” She whispered, her throat feeling suddenly dry as her voice hitched strangely. Her heart was ringing in her ears and she wanted to just collapse on the ground as all the running had caught up with her body, the adrenaline now gone down from the reality of failure.

“Are you okay, miss?” A voice, slightly familiar to her ears, came from behind her and Kyril found her body whipping around to face whoever it was that had approached.

“Oh!” Her gaze widened and she found herself crying a few tears after all, “You aren’t gone!”

“Ah, no.” The Oban woman chuckled, “Was there something that you really wanted to make you cry so, dear?” She strode forward and reached up with a calloused hand to wipe away at the tears falling down Kyril’s cheeks, “I’ve never seen someone cry so at the sight of my stall being gone. I’m touched, but please don’t cry.”

“It’s…” Kyril hiccuped, a very uncharacteristic moment for her to be crying openly like this with a stranger, “It’s that I didn’t want to buy but rather to learn.” She finally managed as heat blossomed across her dark cheeks at the merchant’s touch and kindness, “I want to ask you to take me on and teach me your craft.”

“You...wish to learn?” The merchant tilted her head as she studied the girl, “You’re obviously a woman of wealth so why do you wish to learn a trade like this?”

“My parents taught me that we should all put some effort into our lives in this world. To do nothing but sit around because I have money is to make my own life worthless.” Replied Kyril quietly as she tried to force a smile, “I assure you that I am a hard worker and that I have talent.” She raised her hands to reveal the runes that had been hidden in her sleeves, “I can do what you can if only you teach me.” She had seen how the artisan stretched out her staff and summoned fire hot enough to turn the sand from natural grains into glass, “I know it’s a rather last minute request and I’ll have to run back to meet with my family, but if you would be willing to wait a few hours I can easily go with you and learn.”

“I go to Oba though are you willing to leave for so long?” The artisan frowned thoughtfully as she studied the girl, “It’s also not only magic you need, but an artistic sense.” She smirked and pointed towards the sands, “I want to see you design something now on the spot before I even contemplate this sudden request.”

Taking a deep breath Kyril nodded as she focused on the sands. If she were to create something out of nothing...the hybrid closed her eyes and relaxed her shoulders as she pushed all fear and apprehension away. Her mother had taught her etiquette and she had already survived many noble meetings and had raised rambunctious younger siblings while controlling her own magic so she was well versed in grounding herself. From that calm she reached deep down inside of herself and thought about what she knew was itching to be let go from inside. Always so calm, always so frigid, always so reserved and thoughtful of her Matori heritage but what about her Oban? There was after all also a fire burning deeply down inside of her. Kyril’s eyes opened, her amber gaze burning brightly, and she poured out her magic so that the sands rose with a gust of wind before bursting into flames. From the flames emerged a six winged bird of fantasy a giant flaming creature that opened its beak in a silent scream before smoke announced its disappearance and left only a silhouette on the ground before them.

Quietly Kyril just glanced towards the artisan and clutched at the still burning crystals resting in her hands. The heat wasn’t unwelcome rather it it representative of how strongly she felt about her desires to learn how to craft the beautiful pieces that this woman created. She just prayed that the gods would let the artisan see her desire, her talents and grant her request. There was no fear in Kyril’s eyes only anticipation of what was to come.

“You have four hours to pack all of your belongings.” The artisan finally breathed out with a small smile, “Gods I can’t believe I’m doing this when I never thought I would see the day...your name, girl?” She dusted off the sand from her skirts and reached out a hand towards Kyril, “Mine is Alidan.”

“Kyril.” Kyril smiled faintly as she clasped the hand that was given to her, “Thank you so much, Alidan.”

The artisan chuckled, “Let’s see how much you’ll be thanking me once you start having to work your tail off. Now go, hurry!”

Kyril beamed before grabbing at her skirts and racing through the village and towards home. Surely she would miss her family but her mother could visit her when she was in Oba as well and Kyril was certain that she could return home one day after she had learned the craft. She wasn’t afraid of hard work and dedication, she just hoped her family would be understanding of her hasty decision!

Conclusion: Kyril has become an apprentice to an artisan who specializes in creating stained glass and other glass art pieces.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Mage Solo 2 - A Short Letter Home Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

‘Dear family:

I’m forever missing your faces, but I know that we shall meet again soon! I have been practicing day and night with my mentor so that I can one day perfect this craft. It is interesting to see how she can mold the liquid glass into any shape that she so desires. So far my mastery is over stained glass orbs that can be of varying colors, amber and sapphire are my favorite colors thus far along with other rosy hues. Yes, my fingers have been burned on occasion from my haste with trying to bend the glass before it cools to a particular degree but I have also learned how to heal minor burns and injuries due to it. Oba is hot and dry and I do dearly miss hearing the ocean at night. Hopefully my mentor will travel again once the spring has arrived and I will get to see the plains of Sauti and the forests of Tale again. I do not think I am prepared for the harsh winds of Zena just yet and thankfully my mentor rarely ventures out there. A couple of those from Belrea have even stopped by her store to share stories and techniques. They are impressed with how she utilizes fire from her magic to help create the glass and to bend it so at her forge. And while I am very intrigued by their culture and ways I am grateful that she does not wish to take those strange airships to their shores just yet.

As it is the evening light is dimming and I am weary. I pray that you all are doing well and that no one has destroyed the house in my absence. I love each and every one of you and hope that my small glass gifts should arrive safely with this letter. Please take care of yourselves and I will see you soon.

Love,

Kyril’

Folding the parchment Kyril melted wax and sealed it with her family’s seal in the shape of a drop of water that arched into a caressing flame. A small tender smile crossed her features as she placed that in the top drawer of her small dresser where bandages, recently used to wrap her fingers once more rested as well. It had only been a few months but she was feeling more confident considering she only used one or two rolls of bandages a moon now instead of every other day. Her fingers trailed across the smooth wood of her dresser before it lingered on a small glass bird that she had managed to shape herself recently. Let’s hope that I can continue to grow. She thought to herself before reaching over to blow out the candle that was on the desk, its flickering flames serving as the only light source in her small room that rested above her mentor’s own shop.

She was ready for sleep as she had a long day ahead of her tomorrow.
