Khalel Name: Khalel
Nicknames: None
Race: ½ Fire, ½ Water
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Stage: Collector
Personality:
Cultured – Khalel has quite the sophisticated demeanor about her, which is no doubt due to her upbringing. As a cultured young woman, she prefers the finer things in life: jewelry, perfume, art, poetry, along with fine food and drink. Yet aside from her interests, the hybrid is quite mature for her age. Her studies have made her not only well educated, but also polite and elegant. She is also quite charismatic, a trait she takes great pride in.
Whimiscal – This young woman is prone to flights of fancy, and one can often find her with her head in the clouds. It’s no surprise that she has lofty dreams or aspirations for herself, given the lifestyle that she has grown up with. Those around her often have to try their best to get her head out of the clouds and back to reality. One day, they tell her, she will have to realize that life wll not end up like her dreams. Reality will come back to bite her, though that fact is something she doesn’t trouble herself with.
Opinionated – Don’t expect Khalel to keep silent if she has a thought on something. If she feels particularly strongly over a topic or an issue, she is going to allow herself to be heard. She doesn’t care if her opinions hurt those around her. In her mind, it is better to be honest and forthright with them, rather than patronize them just so they feel better. Of course, if she does hurt their feelings by what she says, she’s not above apologizing later. She will just re-iterate the fact that it is important to speak one’s mind, regardless of what other people will think.
History:
Khalel’s mother, a woman named Oola, has lived and worked as a slave to a noble Oban family for as long as she could remember. Upon first being bought, the family determined that, due to her skills, she would work in the kitchens as a cook and a servant. This job suited Oola well, and the water-earthling quietly went about her duties without much of a fuss. So long as she had a roof over her head and food in her belly, she was content. Everything changed, however, when Oola caught the attention of Zaleem, the heir to the Oban family she worked for.
Zaleem’s interest in Oola was, of course, discreet. No one could know that his eyes had fallen upon a mere slave girl. His feelings, surprisingly, were reciprocated by the water woman. The two would talk every chance they had, and Zaleem would even sneak the girl away to spent time with her privately on her days off. Everything seemed to be going perfectly, in Oola’s mind. Zaleem even said he would make her his bride one day, which the slave could not wait for. However, everything changed the moment the girl become pregnant with Zaleem’s child.
Khalel came into the world on a cool morning. Of course, Oola was thrilled to be a new mother, and her daughter was a miracle to her. She couldn’t wait to show her to Zaleem and start their family together. Yet Zaleem had other plans. Only a few hours after Khalel was born, Zaleem arrived and took the baby from Oola’s arms. Confused and hurt, the woman demanded to know what he was doing and what had gotten into his head.
The nobleman went on to explain that his relationship with Oola was a mistake. He then went on to tell her that he would be ending things with her, and that he would be taking the baby as well. No daughter of his would be living the life of a slave. Zaleem’s family also had decided that it was time to let Oola go. She was to leave the facility, and she would never see her daughter again. The guards would make sure of that.
Distraught by this news, the former slave had no choice in the matter. Khalel was Zaleem’s now, and she would be forced to find another place to live. Forced to accept what her former lover was telling her, all Oola could do was give the man a bracelet that she wore. It was the only piece of finery she owned, and she instructed Zaleem to give it to Khalel when she was old enough. She deserved something to remind her of her mother, after all. That was the last time that Zaleem saw Oola. A few days later, she had left his family’s home, never to return.
Khalel has since grown up in the comfortable home of her father. He has provided for the girl her own private pavilion. Although she was Zaleem’s daughter, the girl spent little time with him as she grew up. As a noble, the man married not long after she was born to a woman who he had a full-blooded Oban son with already. Yet, regardless of the fact that she didn’t see him often, the girl was still treated with courteous respect. Zaleem made sure that Khalel had her own private tutors and access to whatever hobbies caught her interest. He makes sure to visit her at least twice a week, to make sure she is taken care of and content. Khalel cherishes those visits with her father, however brief they may be.
One thing was for certain for Khalel. She would always be looked at and treated a little bit differently than a pure Oban, due to her lineage. Although her Fire traits were certainly more dominate, there were a few give-aways that she wasn’t fully a Fire Earthling, namely: the markings that dotted across her body, and her eyes. These two things were what connected her to her Water heritage, along with the single bracelet that she wore on her wrist. It has once belonged to her mother, Zaleem told her, and ever since he gave it to her, she has never taken it off. It is the one thing that truly connects her to her mother, she feels.
For now, Khalel continues to live with her family. She hopes that, one day, once she has decided on her path in life, she will leave and make her own way in the world.
****
Khalel has now been kicked out of her home by her father. This was mostly in part due to her continued relationship with her fellow hybrid, Skadravi. Now that she has no reason to stay, the young woman hopes to travel with her boyfriend to the tropical nation of Matori. She aims to find her mother and start a new life there.
Quirks Fidgets with her bracelet when anxious or upset. Sleeps with her Perzi curled up at her feet or nearby. Dabs perfume in her hair every morning, so she smells pretty. Never takes off her bracelet. Makes mental notes of who gives her awkward looks due to her heritage.

Familiars Name: Fajaan
Gender: Male
Age: 6 Years
Species: Perzi
Obtained By: Given as a gift by her father, Zaleem.
Personality:
Fajaan is an affectionate and playful perzi. Given to Khalel when he was just a few months old, the two developed a very close bond with one another. There is nothing more that Faj loves to do than to curl up with Khalel when she is reading a book, doing her studies, or taking a nap. Sunbeams seem to be his favorite thing, but he also prefers his owner's lap as well. Aside from being playful, he is also a very curious perzi. He can often be found examining the trinkets and belongings that Khalel has placed throughout her room. While affectionate with his owner, he can be a little hesitant around new people. This shyness, however, goes away once he gets to know the individual, and then he's back to his loving, cuddly self.
 Name: Ipo
Gender: Female
Age: 6 Years
Species: Zanteer
Obtained By: Given as a gift by her father, Zaleem.
Personality:
Ipo is a bit more reserved than her perzi counterpart. She is perfectly content with just keeping a watchful eye on Khalel to make sure the youngling doesn't get into trouble. She is stand-offish when meeting other individuals, much preferring to keep to the company of her owner than anyone else. She does have things she enjoys, however. The zanteer loves to go swimming with Khalel in the pool outside of their private pavillion. If she's feeling particularly mischievous, she has also been known to chase Fajaan around their quarters from time to time. All in all, Ipo is a loyal and trustworthy companion for Khalel.
 Name: Shaza
Gender: Female
Age: 2 Years
Species: Janarim
Obtained By: Given as a gift by her father, Zaleem.
Personality:
Warning: approach Shaza with caution. She is not fond of anyone save for Khalel and her other two familiars. Both Fajaan and Ipo know to keep their distance from her, though this is more due to intimidation than anything else. The janarim watches over the pair of them carefully, too, when she's not keeping an eye on her owner. Outsiders need to be careful around Shaza. If they get to close, she won't hesitate to snap at them in warning, as she hates for her personal space to be invaded. Although initially given to Khalel by Zaleem, Shaza listens to the hybrid and the hybrid only. Despite her tough exterior, she is affectionate toward her master. Khalel takes very good care of her.

Relationships Family
Zaleem - Father, Noble (37)
Zaleem is a proud and aristocratic man, perfectly fitted for someone of his station. He is regal in his mannerisms and a charismatic speaker, well-liked by those who know him and his family. In his youth, he hoped to prove himself as a fighter, though his father had other plans for him. Instead, he took up politics, much preferring to work behind the scenes rather than on the front lines. Zaleem is also a passionate man, although he is quite the hedonist as well. The proof of this flaw of his is in his daughter, Khalel, who came about from an illegitimate relationship with his former Matori slave, Oola. The nobleman goes to great lengths to keep the knowledge of Khalel under wraps. While he loves his daughter, he is afraid others would look down or treat her differently due to her mixed heritage. He also doesn't want her to bring a negative outlook on his new family as well. Zaleem is very much a believer in keeping up appearances. In terms of their relationship, Zaleem and Khalel aren't as close as a father and daughter could be. He only visits her two times a week, but she treasures those times together. He seems to enjoy them, too, however he generally only treats Khalel with polite courtesy, rather than fatherly affection.
Oola - Mother, Merchant & Former Slave (35)
Oola was a kind and caring woman. Not only that, but she was very hard-working, putting everything she had into whatever task she was put up to. She never complained during her time as a slave, and she did her best not to bring unwanted attention toward herself. Unfortunately, she was a bit of a hopeless romantic, and ended up falling for the son of the noble family she worked for, Zaleem. Oola would have been a wonderful mother, had Zaleem allowed her to keep the baby. He did not, however, and instead released the woman from her slave bonds once the war was over. The former slave has since returned to her home in the Matori Islands where she grew up. She now works there as a merchant and has quite the successful business. She longs to see her daughter again, but due to the painful memories that Oba has brought her, she has no plans to go back there any time soon. Khalel, too, longs to learn of her mother and possibly even meet her one day. She wants to learn more about her Matori heritage, a subject in her education that is sorely lacking in her opinion.
Faelahn - Stepmother, Noble (37)
Faelahn is the epitome of Oban beauty and grace. Elegant and refined, it is obvious that she was born and raised into a noble family. She is quite popular among the upper class circles of Oban society, and she loves to throw lavish parties where she can show off not just her wealth, but also her family as well. Khalel would consider her to be the most beautiful woman in the world, if it weren't for her personality. Although she doesn't show it outwardly, Faelahn can be very greedy and self-centered. Appearances mean everything to her, and if anything is less than perfect in her eyes, she is bound to get angry over it. She is a woman of incredibly high standards. Her relationship with Khalel is one that never really developed well. She is not fond of her husband's illegitimate, half-Matori daughter living in their home. She puts up with her, solely for the fact that it is what her husband wishes. To ensure she would see the hybrid as little as possible, it was her idea to have Khalel sequestered out in one of the pavilions of their estate. Out of sight, out of mind. In all honesty, Khalel is perfectly fine with this arrangement.
Rajiik - Half-brother, Prentice (20)
Rajiik is now twenty years old. He is very much his father's son, as he has a penchant for the more martial aspects of life. Like Zaleem had dreamed, Rajiik wants to be the strongest warrior that Oban has ever seen. Unfortunately, the young man also takes after his mother as well. He is spoiled rotten by not just his mother and father, but the household staff that the family employs seem to favor him as well. This allows him to get away with quite more than he should, and he isn't afraid to abuse this power. Rajiik especially enjoys getting Khalel into trouble in various ways, and always finds a way to blame things on her somehow. Her family's general favoritism toward her half-brother has put their own relationship on a bit of a strain. Rajiik considers Khalel a "waterlogged freak" and does not like to be seen interacting with his sister. Despite having a brother, Khalel figures the two of them will just never get along due to their clashes in personality and background.
