This is the main open roleplay (ORP) thread. You will make posts here until there are side events,
where new threads will be created. You do not have to participate in side events. You may not post in side threads
AND the ORP at the same time. You must make an exit post in the ORP before posting in side threads. Then, you
must make an exit post in the side thread before returning to the ORP.

                            ____________R U L E S

Do not delete posts for any reason during the event. You may only edit posts for RP, but do not reserve a
post without some sort of a response.
                            ● You must have signed up in order to participate in the event.
                            ● If you sign up, please make sure that you will be active in the upcoming weeks (estimate 2-3 weeks).
                            ● This event will be slower paced than what you are used to for an Extrasensory RP event. There will be storyline
updates at the quickest-- every 2 days.
                            ● You may only sign up with and play one character for this event. You do not need a journal to enter your character.
                            ● You may bring one Pokemon with you.
                            ● If you don't have any Pokemon, you may borrow a stray buneary. You may name it and RP however you like,
but keep in mind that rental pokemon must be returned at the end of the event.
                            ● You will have a chance to win pokemon during the event, and consolation prizes will be given out after the
event to those who RP'd a minimum amount and participated in at least one side event, but didn't win anything.
                            ● Prizes won during the event may be traded, or gifted to someone else who was active in the event.
                            ● Consolation prizes cannot be gifted, sorry.
                            ● Ask any questions in the main thread.

                            ____________E V E N T . I N F O

                            ● To win pokemon, you must earn points!
                            ● This event will have a main ORP, with side event threads.
                            ● Participating in side events will earn you points towards a pokemon prize. You are limited to ONE pokemon prize.
                            ● The main ORP will not win you any points toward pokemon prizes, but can earn you participation points for
                            consolation pokemon.
                            ● To qualify for a consolation pokemon, you must have posted a minimum amount in the ORP and participated
in at least one side event.
                            ● Pokemon will be distributed at the end of the event rather than in the middle of the event this time.

                            ____________R P . G U I D E L I N E S

                            ● It is not required for you to read every post!
                            ● Find a few people to stick with to RP, do not attempt to reply to everyone, otherwise you can get lost and overwhelmed!
                            ● Make sure to do what the prompt guides you to do in order to be on the right track for the next prompt!
                            ● Use quote, bold, or colored text to let others know you are talking to them.
                            ● Make quick replies. It is not required for you to write giant paragraphs during RP events.
                            ● If you don't know who to RP with, ask nicely in the main thread to find someone currently active who can get a few RP posts in with you.
                            ● It is better to find people to RP with who will be online at the same time as you, so you can both get replies in quickly.
                            ● If you get left behind, don't get offended! Just keep posting as if you were always there.
                            ● If you are going to be inactive for a day or more, be sure to tell your RP partners or leave a (( OOC )) note with your post.
                            ● If you need any sort of help, or have questions, ask in the main thread!

                            ____________P R I Z E S

                            ● All prizes are non-growing pokemon. Majority of them are edited.
                            ● There are 2 major prizes, which are heavily edited pokemon. No legendary in this event.
                            ● Consolation prizes are either a normal coloration buneary or one simple themed accessory edit (premade) to the pokemon
                            you chose for the event.
                            ● If you want an edit to your current pokemon, you must provide an uncert!
                            ● There is a minimum required amount of posts and activity that will be determined at the end of the event to
                            qualify for a consolation prize.

                            ____________C h . 1 : The Start of a New Adventure
                            User Image

You looked over the flyer that has somehow found its way into your mailbox, wondering if the thing was really what
it was advertising. The page was yellowed, torn at the edges, looking like it was centuries old and printed by a
typewriter just as ancient. You would have thrown it away, if you hadn't caught one line: "From the people who
brought you S.S. Extrasensory Cruise..." That was current. It couldn't have been from centuries ago, unless there
was a cruise back then, with the same name. The date that this "adventure" was departing was today.
                            Right now, probably.

There was no envelope, no return address, nothing. You don't even know how it got its way here. You remember
checking your mailbox before going to
sleep. This flyer had appeared overnight. Who in their right mind would spend their night distributing letters for an otherwise
unadvertised event? Could it be a scam?

You ponder the validity of the adventure. There was no mention of landing anywhere, so no random encounters with
wild savage Pokemon. There was even free food! You could use a vacation... right?

(( If your character does not live in a house, or does not have a mailbox, they find this flyer next to them when they
wake up, or on their doorstep. Yes, even in crazy remote locations. If you have a specific problem, feel free to
quote me in the main thread and ask. ))

                            Prompt 1
You have until Monday to get your character to Katarina Docks. Pack your necessities. Once there, feel free to interact with other characters that have made their way there. If you do not have your own pokemon, one will be provided to you later. Do not RP having one until then.

If you would like to be quoted when there are story updates, let me know by quoting in the main thread and I will add you to a list.

                            ____________C h . 2 : Mysterious Stranger
User Image The sun was high in the skies and by now, a rather large group of curious travelers had gathered at Katarina Docks, all wondering who the person that organized the event was, and where. Maybe it was all a trick after all. Whoever called them all here knew where they lived and got them to leave. Maybe they were getting robbed right this second, while they were standing here, fascinated by a balloon ride adventure. They were starting to doubt the legitimacy of the whole thing.

A fragile figure rounded a corner of the building amidst the confused chatter of would-be adventurers. The brim of his hat covered his eyes and he didn't look up, despite being shorter than most of the group around him, except maybe the children. He wore a loose long sleeved shirt underneath a vest with multiple pockets and also pants that had just as many pockets. He looked like he carried all the necessities he needed in just his clothes alone. If the items necessary weren't in his pockets, they hung off the belt around his body. A rather large knife, a cooking pot, canteen of water, and a fish hook were easily seen. No doubt he had a lot more items than what could be spotted just by looking.

His posture was hunched, as he shuffled his way to the group. He weld no cane, although it seemed he could tip over at any second. The amount of weight from the items he had on wasn't helping. The man stood, using the sign to prop himself up.

Unlike the rest of the adventurers gathered, he carried no backpack and he had no pokemon. He was silent and made no motion to quiet the group down or call attention upon himself. There was no indication he was traveling with the group, or if he was the one they were meeting.

(( First part of this chapter will be dynamic and update over the next hour, or however long it takes. This requires a bit of interaction between the character and the travelers in order to lead them into the next part. You are not required to chat with this character. He will reply to relevant questions. ))

                            Quote:
"...Are you here for the balloon ride?"

The man gave the slightest nod at the question.

                            Quote:
"Did you get a flyer as well?" He smiled, although a little corner by the other's movement. "....are you alright?"

"What... is a flyer?" His voice was soft, and came out raspy, as if he had breathed in a good deal of the dust that had landed on his clothing.

                            Quote:
"Um... hey, that is quite the knife you have!" she started off dumbly, "Do you happen to fish for you food?"

"Oh, I do a bit more than fish." You got a good glimpse of the knife. It was a machete, rusty around the handle. The blade was quite sharp, as though the man sharpens it regularly. He didn't explain more.

                            Quote:
The breeder open and close his mouth a few times, trying to figure out how to explain it, but decided against it, taking out his piece of adventuring paper. He held it out to the man. "This, are you here for this?"

User ImageThe man leaned forward until his face was five inches from the paper. He lifted the brim of his hat in order to see better. There weren't many words, and yet, the man studied the page for a good five minutes.

You got a look at his face. The man appeared to be in his 60's, at least. The peppered stubble on his chin told them that the last time he had shaven was at least 2 weeks ago. A large scar ran down the left of his face, from his eye down his cheek. It was then that you noticed his hands were marred with scars, camouflaging with his wrinkles and the layer of dirt on his skin. His eyes were sunken with bags beneath them. The man didn't look to have slept in days. Or eaten, you noted, as you glazed over his thin fingers once more.

                            Quote:
"How did you get your scars."

The man was getting a lot of attention, but was unfazed by the crowd. "You know, this and that." He tilted his head toward the machete hanging onto his belt loop.

                            Quote:
"...I think perhaps a hospital is in your future, sir."

"Sadly, I am past where hospitals can be of help." He shook his head solemnly.

                            Quote:
"You know about the balloons? Can you lead us to them? We want to go on the trip the flyer talked about!" Fifi asked.

                            Quote:
"Why yes, yes I am, actually... I believe all of us are. You see, it seems all of us received fliers about a balloon ride adventure to the desert and we would very much like to go. However, if I may ask, if you are in charge, what brought on the idea? Is there something happening out there?"

"If you want balloons, it's this way." He gave no explanation, but the man started walking at a slow, but steady pace back the way he had come. He didn't look behind to see if anyone was following. If the place he was leading them to was nearby, there were no balloons in sight. These things are supposed to be fairly large, right?

                            Quote:
"Have you ever been to the desert?"

"I have been there. Once." He answered as he walked.

                            Quote:
"How far away are they?" She asked.

"Not far." He pointed ahead of the group. You follow the direction he indicated and see another brick building about a block away.

                            User Image

The small frame of the man rounded the corner of the building. You trailed him, and stood, flabbergasted by the sight of what looked to be an airship. You have heard stories and seen picture books of one, but never known one to actually exist in this day and age.

You have no idea how long you stared, but when you snapped to, the old man was gone. Was he on the ship? You shouldn't have been so careless and paid more attention instead of standing there drooling, you realized. A better question was is this what the balloon ride was? It looked nothing like the pictures, which showed the modern balloons you were used to seeing.

A few of your group lagged behind, on edge by the appearance of the odd man. But surely this was something, right? They have to see this!

(( This ends the dynamic portion of the chapter. Feel free to gather/explore/speculate. Next update will be on Wednesday, 6PM EST ))

                            ____________C h . 3 : Airship
The crowd had more or less found their way to the balloon, either from their curiosity or from overhearing their companion's excited gasps. The elderly man disappeared, presumed to have already boarded.

The ship itself resembled a pirate ship. It wasn't huge and didn't allow for any personal space while on board, but the balloons required to create enough lift for it to rise into the air was massive, held in place by numerous ropes. There were what looked like bat wings made out of wood and attached at various positions on the ship and balloons. They were used to steer the airship manually and connected by ropes to areas on the deck where they could be easily reached. The largest main balloon had multiple small rotors on the sides and there was a giant rotor at the rear of the ship used for flight.

Collectively, the company agreed to board the ship. They were doubtful that the wing could hold their weight, but it was docked in such a position that this was the easiest way onto the deck, unless they had flying pokemon. The only other method was to find a separate boat to cross the water and then somehow climb up the side on one of the ropes. With young children, elders, and people of varying fitness levels, this idea was quickly dropped.

They cautiously tested the wing to make sure it would hold their weight before proceeding. There was also no hand holds, so a slip at this point could be detrimental. The wing proved to be quite steady, from whatever material it was created from.

Upon closer look of the airship, one could see there was pokemon aboard. They were running the ship: fire pokemon, supplying fire from various openings to the balloon; flying pokemon swooping about, pulling on ropes and pulleys; and larger pokemon pushing supplies about on the deck.

Once you had stepped foot on the deck, a Machamp offers to take your belongings to a storage cabin below deck. It would be a shared space, but indoors, mainly so nothing will fly away if the winds pick up. You had never seen one of those pokemon in Zatao, but then again, this ship probably gets to travel all around the world and gets to see everything.

There was the captain's cabin directly on the deck and also a staircase leading from the deck to the area below. Everywhere below deck was dimly lit by hanging candle lanterns. Hallways were narrow and could barely fit two bodies shoulder to shoulder. The ship was made entirely out of wood and embellished in parts with metal.

The dining area consisted of two long wooden tables. Shelves of food for preparation lined the walls, making the place seem smaller. A doorway led to the kitchen, where pokemon could be seen preparing the day's meal.

There was a few shabby resting cabins containing only bunk beds and a small nightstand. Bathrooms were shared. One cabin, in particular, was obviously meant for someone of high importance, as it carpeted, wallpapered, and had cozy armchairs as well as bunk beds. The room also had its own bathroom.

                            User ImageUser Image

An airship very much resembled, well, a ship.

(( Side story happening in a couple of hours. Feel free to explore. ))

                            ____________C h . 4 : Clockwork Wastelands
                            User Image

No longer had they begun to settle down in what they thought would be their home at least the next few hours, the airship whirred. The pokemon deckhand secured themselves into their positions and collectively acted to bring the ship to life. No announcement had been made, no one yelled commands at the pokemon, they just knew what to do all on their own.

The ship steadily lifted into the sky, erasing any doubt within the company that the vessel could take to the skies. It moved slowly at first, but picking up speed the further it rose.

"Welcome aboard, ladies and gentlemen," a familiar voice sounded from the speakers, "on another fabulous cruise presented to you by-- well, I guess I never told you my name, did I? You can just call me... Captain. I'm rather fond of that name."

Those that had been on the S.S. Extrasensory Cruise recalled the man's voice on the loud speakers. Sure enough, this was the same man that had led them onto an island overrun by bidoof. The mysterious man that had appeared earlier was not this same man.

"As we ascend, I would advise those of you who are on the upper deck to please step below deck, as it will be cold and oxygen will be low outside. I assume no responsibility if you wish to stay on the deck and it becomes hard to breathe." He chuckled, as if he made a funny joke.

At the base of the stairs, you spot the Captain. So, there were humans onboard the airship after all, or at least one. You still have not seen the mysterious elderly man from earlier.

"Gather 'round, gather 'round! Nice to see so many of you showed up... after the slight mishap with the cruise adventure..." His huge grin faltered for a split second, but then returned, bigger than ever.

"Anyway, that is all in the past and we are all here to have fun! I was afraid that you might not be able to find me, as this balloon isn't your traditional way of travel, but you all made it! I was going to come looking for you, but there was no need. You are a smart bunch! Air is being supplied throughout the ship via these pipes along the ceiling of all hallways and rooms. There are a few rooms to rest up in. Not enough for all of you to have private rooms, but we won't be staying here for long. Lunch is being prepared, just down the hall. I advise that you eat now and use restrooms because when we arrive at the Wastelands, we will be leaving the ship." He gestured towards the lunch room.

"This airship will take us to Clockwork Wastelands, as it is a much quicker way of travel than hot-air balloons. Once there, we will depart this ship on hot-air balloons for the trip that you were promised. Doesn't that sound exciting? We will be making the descent in..." He looked at his watch. "About three hours. Now, I have to get back to my post, but if you need anything, I'm sure my crew will be able to help you out." He meant the pokemon crew.

With that, the Captain departed back to his cabin.

(( Get food? Explore the lower deck. Side story will happen in a couple of hours. ))

                            ------------------------

It was two hours into the flight. You've gotten all the food you could want and were just milling about the cabin, getting bored of the long flight to the actual sightseeing location.

From the corner of your eye, you spotted something that breezed past the windows from outside. You thought nothing of it. It's probably a sparrow. It's normal, since you're in the sky.

Then, another flew by in a blur. And then another. Pretty soon, you could see the blurs flying around from all the windows on the ship. That was not normal.

You ran over to a porthole and took a look outside. They were pidgeys. Hundreds of pidgeys.

An announcement came on: "Uhh... we seem to have approached a problem, ladies and gentlemen. But don't worry, they should be harmless and we should be passing safely by them soon... ahh! Ack!" Sounds of thumping, items dropping, and distant cursing. "Change of plans, we are going to be escap-- I mean traveling by hot-air balloons NOW!"

(( Run to the main deck and to the rear of the ship. Four balloons are located there. Maximum capacity is 8 passengers. Once outside, pidgeys will begin attacking you.

                            ____________C h . 5 : Hot-Air Ballooning

Everyone (or almost everyone) was now safely in the confines of a balloon basket and now lifting off. The company narrowly escaped. The airship seemed to have suffered engine damage and was going down rapidly. After the craziness that ensued, you now had time to realize that you had just passed over the tops of a mountain range. You were now in the Clockwork Wastelands.

The pidgeys, sensing they have finally done their job, retreated into the skies, but they were traveling in the same direction that the balloons were going in. The Captain climbed upon the back of his dragonite-- one which you were just seeing now and had no idea how he hid such a burly pokemon-- and flew after the balloons. This way, he could quickly speed up or slow down to any of the balloons and act as a tour guide.

(( If you missed the last portion, you can join one of the open balloons and make an entry post as if you got into the balloon before it lifted off. ))

                            ____________C h . 6 : Stranded

All balloons had been called down for an emergency landing. The Captain touched down last, after making sure all balloons were safely landed and secured so they wouldn't fly away. It was the hottest time of day. The sun was blazing in the sky, but it wouldn't be for long. They were going to be needing water, shelter, and food. In that order. They needed enough supplies to last them at least the night.

"How was that landing!?" The Captain was smiling again. Does this guy ever not smile?

"Gather around, everyone! We don't know how long we will be here for, but we are going to need water and shelter for the night. Food, if we can get some, but food is not a priority. It would not be wise to travel around after dark. In the morning, I can attempt to make the trek back to the main airship and radio for help. Hoping that the radio system has not been destroyed, of course." He took the map out of his right vest pocket.

"We only have one map, so we're going to have to draw, or memorize the area and hope we don't get separated and lost. Do NOT, and I repeat, do NOT go anywhere alone and without letting anyone know you have gone. Children must be supervised at all times." He got out a red marker.

"This is our location, here." He wrote an "x" in the middle of the desert.

"First off, we need a group to build shelter. The best location is just where the forest isn't the thickest, and is close to water. We will need sturdy branches and large leaves. " He drew a dotted line from their current location to the edge of the forest and then drew a small circle.

"We are going to need a group to gather water; anyone who cannot hunt, or help build shelter." He circled the lake.

"We also need a group to hunt for food. Anyone skilled in hunting should go into the deeper parts of the forest, on the other side of the oasis." He marked it with another x.

"There might be some berries or fruits to gather, if there is someone who knows which are edible because sure as hell, if I know! They would grow closest to water, so around the oasis." He didn't make a mark for that one.

When done explaining, he showed them all the map.

                            ____________C h . 8 : Night Visitor

The sun was fast setting as the survivors scrambled to gather the last bit of supplies needed to survive the chill desert night. Berries and meat proved easy to obtain, but the slippery banks and muddy water kept the water group from filling their canteens as quickly as they could. Shelter was another arduous task, as they needed many branches and leaves to build a shelter large enough for everyone to keep warm after dark. Some finished their work early and helped other groups, knowing they were all going to suffer if one tier lagged.

Anise tied the last knot for the shelter just as darkness fell. A flame erupted a few yards from the shelter. The fire pokemon crew had been working on a campfire, along with the Captain, when the company arrived back at camp. They happily boiled water, cooked meat, and ate berries while quietly conversing through dinner. Exhausted from a long day's work, the company turned in early for the night, hoping to set out the next morning before it gets too hot.

A pair of bright eyes watched from the top of a palm tree, as the last person and pokemon drifted off to sleep.

When they awoke, they find a piece of old parchment that has blown across the sand and got stuck in their now burnt out fire pit. The page was familiar... similar to the the paper that got you all into this mess, am I right?

The Captain paraded out from the forest of palm trees. It turns out he hadn't abandoned them after all.

He spoke to those who were already up. "Wake up your fellow travelers! We have to get a move on if we are to make an sort of progress today. I have pinpointed the ship's direction to be here."

He brought out the map again and pointed to a location where the dotted lines met with the mountains.

                            ____________Events Triggered

Laurence was about to leave the shelter and be on his way, but movement out of the corner of his eye caught his attention. Behind some of his companion's bags was a large pair of eyes. He stared and they blinked back.

After a startled pause, Laurence called gently to the mysterious pair of eyes, "Hello?" It seemed that there was a pokemon hiding behind some of the bags. He gave a mental shrug (not wanting to jostle the grumpy Kili); it probably belonged to somebody; there was no reason for a lone wild pokemon to be in such close proximity to a group of humans.

As if eager for attention, the pokemon perked up in response. It edged slowly out of it's hiding spot. You can see the pokemon clearly now.

"Who's that pokemon?" Laurence wondered aloud. He didn't recognize it, but there were so many people that it was quite possible that he simply hadn't seen it until then. At least it was friendly.

"Is your trainer around?" he asked it. "You should stick together; we are heading toward the mountains now."

The pokemon looked outside and spotted various people trickling away from the campsite. It took to flight and landed to the side of the boy with the piece of paper in his hands.

The pokemon pointed to the paper, hoping to be noticed.

                            Quote:
Eros deflated at the nonchalant answer from the captain. There was no indication that he knew anything about the prior disaster. Still, he could himself be a pawn in a larger conspiracy, and they'd have to stay wary.

The boy boggled when the mysterious Pokémon flew up alongside him. Even Dido deigned to take interest, clambering up to her usual perch on her human's shoulder.

Eros had seen this Pokémon somewhere before.... The colourful pages of an ornate picture book he'd been read as a child. He couldn't recall its name, but it was surely a legendary Pokémon.

For a moment, Eros imagined the praise that his family would heap upon him if he returned with a legendary Pokémon, imagined it displayed in a luxurious gilded cage....

But he had to get home alive, first. And the Pokémon seemed to know something about the scrap of paper.

"Yes, this?" The boy smoothed the paper across his palm to give the Pokémon a better view. "Can you tell us what happened here?" Could it speak, at all? "Can you help us get home?"

A voice filled your head. The Celebi was speaking, though it's mouth did not move. It was speaking directly into your mind. The voice was neither masculine nor feminine, which was strange. It spoke to you, alone.

"This is the future. I have brought you here. The world is now overrun with savage pokemon. You have seen the beginnings of what is to come. What has happened here will not stop. It will only expand and consume the world. The page in your hands is the cause of this. You must help. You must stop this from spreading." The Celebi looked to you with pleading eyes before disappearing right before you.

How? What? Your questions remained unanswered. The cryptic message replayed in your mind.

A tepig stormed into the campsite, jolting all those who were still sleeping awake. On it's head were small horns, uncommon for one of its species. It rammed its thick skull into the company's shack, shaking loose the bundles of branches and leaves. Whatever was closest to the tepig, it charged at, be it object, people, or pokemon. Some narrowly escaped its angry plows.

When the tepig was satisfied that it had chased all the people from the campsite, it stopped and gave a triumphant bellow. It seems that all it wanted was to scare the people away. Those who were lagging behind caught up in no time.

                            ____________Ch . 10 : Camp

After a couple of hours of walking, pokemon spotting, and discovering journal fragments, the company find themselves at a wreckage of twigs and loose stones. A tanteen, tattered clothing, burnt logs, and a pair of shoes revealed that a human had been here and that this had most likely been a campsite. Clearly abandoned now, as the shifting environment of the desert had begun reclaiming the shelter.

You find a familiar yellowed page.

But where was it? Where was the cure? Could there be a hint on the pages?

(( Work as a team to paste together the story from the journals. Obviously, someone should suggest to put the pages together before you actually get to it!
There are 6 pages, including this one. You may only have one turn at piecing together the pages. Staff cannot help.

For your turn, you may choose one of the following to do:
                            - Combine one fragment with another, using a paint program.
                            - Put a completed page in chronological order (1-6, with 1 being the earliest). ))

                            ____________Ch . 11 : Cure

The pages were in order, though some dates were missing or never written, you got a gist of what had happened to the writer of the entries. That was a nice history lesson and all, but if you were in the future, this was not getting you any closer back to your own time. And if you were in the future, trying to get back to the shipwreck was pointless. There could be no shipwreck, since you had no idea how far into the future you traveled. There was nothing in this desert that could be used to indicate the passing of time. How frustrating.

Where was the Captain while everything was happening? He had kept a swift pace from the beginning and didn't look back. He was probably where the location of the shipwreck should have been by now, and wondering how years of decay had happened upon his ship.

You look over the scraps once more, inspecting every inch of them for some sort of clue. Nothing. You flip one over and-- what was that? Could it be a house? The markings were faint, but they were there. A house, a few trees, a line drawn from the house to...

You flip over the next scrap of paper. The line from the first page continued. After flipping all the pages over, a map was revealed. The other end of the line was the drawing of a square. What could that be? It didn't seem far from here, maybe a few yards away to the east and four trees in between.

You decide to check it out. There was nothing else at the camp that pointed to a possible way out of this mess.

(( Reactions post. Follow the trail! ))

"Pikki chii!" Kili said, pawing at Laurence's face. The middle-aged traveler frowned in his sleep and turned his head away. "Kachii!" Kili squeaked and continued her pawing insistently.

"All right, all right, I am up," Laurence groaned. He sat up and stretched, giving a mighty yawn that cracked his jaw. Rubbing his eyes, he asked, "Why are you so excited this morning?"

"Pichi!" Kili replied, holding up the worn piece of paper for him to read.

Laurence searched his nightstand for his glasses. He located them, put them on, and read the paper. "This is probably a prank of some sort..." he said. He looked around; he was in a spare room of the pokemon center reserved for travelers (he considered himself a bit too old and his back a bit too weak for much camping anymore).

"Do you want to try it?" he asked. "It is quite an opportunity, if it is real."

"Pikachi!" Kili said in delight. She scampered up Laurence's arm and nuzzled into his scraggly beard. He laughed and said, "All right, let me put myself together and we will head over. We don't want to be late."

OoC: Remind me to stop writing novels as starting posts.

The morning was merciless. Magnolia could only squint and turn the other way in her bed from the knives of sunshine stabbing her eyes. Rho flicked an eye open to her movement, and then closed it shut when he registered she wasn't crying again. Since her argument with Altais a few days ago, the fourteen year old hasn't stopped blaming herself for his leaving. She kept a neutral facade when about the outside, but when behind the closed door of their motel room, she allowed her frustrations to succumb her. It'd been the third night after the duo's spat and, because Rho's wasn't as empathetic as he wished he could be, he could remain silently by her side through the nights as she sobbed quietly to herself. But after number four, all was well.

Rho could finally sleep in peace. Though he didn't admit it, her sniffles and throaty squeaks were getting a bit annoying.

When the Glameow found himself boarding the train to Dreamland once again, Magnolia stirred and rose to sitting. With a grimace, Rho looked to her, unable to fall asleep again when she so rudely decided to shake the bed.

"Glamrow," he yawned in morning. He next found a hand atop his head, a fingertip scratching that nice area behind his ear.

"Good morning," Magnolia gently greeted him with the slightest and gentlest of smiles. A tilt of her head was followed by a question, "Hungry?"

Rho nodded. If he couldn't sleep, he could at least eat.

The feline climbed up onto Magnolia's shoulder when she got up and made her way to the bathroom. After a few minutes of bathing, teeth brushing, and chagrins in the mirror at unruly bed hair and two tufts that never seemed to not defy gravity, Magnolia was ready for the day. When she exited her room, she stepped right onto a stray sheet of paper. However, the lack of friction between her and the floor suddenly caused the heel of her shoe to slid backward, and her with it. Rho jumped off just as the fourteen year old crashed to the ground and became a curled pile of ouch.

Feigning tolerance to the pain from her bum and side, Magnolia raised her head, and searched out the culprit of her tripping. The shoe print on the paper could only mean it was the perpetrator. Stretching her hand toward it, the girl turned it about, and pursed her lips at the familiar flier in both disbelief and awe.

It was the same flyer Altais had brought her days before. Upon standing again, Magnolia looked from the paper to the area around her as if she were looking for the Jirachi. There wasn't a sign of anyone around, but she continued to venture about the hallway with him on her mind.

He must be trying to tell me something, she thought. This . . . wouldn't be here otherwise . . .

Rho could only trail after her. Unless she was vocal, he couldn't determine what was on her mind. A few more minutes of aimless wandering eventually brought Magnolia to a stop. Rho blinked up to his trainer as she considered the flyer again for an umpteenth time.

M-Maybe Altais is here already? she thought. Despite not knowing, Magnolia's surety was high. The desire to apologize to her friend knocked back all rational thought and persuaded her that, yes, he was at Katarina Docks waiting for forgiveness.

She flashed the paper in Rho's direction. The expression he gave her was one of incredulity. "We're going to do this," she told him, worsening the sag of his face.

"Mrrow!" Rho cried in protest, but his screech fell on deaf ears.

"Let's go, Rho," she beckoned after folding the paper in quarters and slipping it into her dress's pocket. "It's only a short walk from here."

Katori frowned, his arcanine had brought him a curious letter, yellowed as it was. He'd been staying with a friend as he was travelling with his pokemon, Angel, IceFyre and Danae, the travelling was mostly for Danae's benefit as she was a restless little thing and didn't like to just sit around with Katori like the other two did.

He took it from the blue Arcanine and read it slowly, out loud. Danae began tugging at his nightshirt and he looked down at the Cydnaquil. "What? .. you don't seriously want to go on a balloon ride, where there's not going to be anyone to fight...."

"Cynda....cyn cynda,....quiiiiil" replied the smallish pokemon, there would be trainers there, with their pokemon, they could battle THEM, what better chance.

Katori rubbed his face and scritched the stubble of the beard he seemed to have been growing in over the last week. "Alright... but let me clean up and see about someone looking after the others, since i c'n only take you with me."

Getting up he was washed himself, packed some things and arranged for his friend to look after his Bibarel and Arcanine. He made a great fuss of the Arcanine especially as she was the most clingy but very patient with him "It won't be long, maybe we c'n evolve Danae while we're away" he said, trying not to get upset at leaving his beloved companions behind but he knew it was the best for all of them,.... and anyway, he'd be back soon enough.

"Alright Danae, let's be going" he said, bringing out the Pokeball he used for the Cyndaquil but, like most of the time, she refused. Preferring to toughen herself up by walking, and if they came across any wild pokemon, she could fight right away. The pair of them waved a 'see you later' to Katori's friend and other Pokemon before heading out on the trail, heading for the Docks and the balloon.

Cai was an early riser and by the time the sun was full over the horizon he was already out of the shower and securing a light breakfast for himself from the mini kitchen in his hotel room. He'd already been here a week, the promised renovations to his new apartment having been delayed for some reason or another that he didn't care about as long as they continued to foot the bill for this place.

He wouldn't mind having a stove though.

Cai had spent most of his days exploring the city and getting acquainted. He was working on getting a position in the local pokemon center, and until the paperwork there was finished, he had a lot of free time. Cai would have preferred to have everything set in stone and ready to go upon his arrival, but other people didn't seem to understand the concept of 'getting things done early' or at least on time for that matter! Not in his opinion at least.

The letter he'd found upon waking at least gave him a goal for today. Exploring the city could be done at any time, but this would be his first opportunity to get a look at the rest of the island. He had the time after all. Who knew when he would after he started working. Cai wasted no time in getting down to the docks. They weren't far from his hotel anyways.

The sound of birdsong and the light of the rising sun, somewhat muted by the fabric of her tent, woke Anise. Blinking the last vestiges of sleep from her eyes, she slid her arms out of her sleeping bag and set her hands to either side, bracing herself to sit up. But while her left hand met the familiar fabric of the tend floor, her right hand fell on an unexpected piece of paper. Startled, she looked over towards it, found she couldn't really see it while lying down, and sat up. Under her hand was what looked to be a flyer, very old and worn, and certainly not anything she'd ever seen before. Curious, she picked it up and read it, and found the contents very strange, and rather at odds with the old appearance.

"From the people who brought you S.S. Extrasensory Cruise?" she read aloud. "That wasn't too long ago. And did not go well, from all I hear." She looked over at Felix, who was laying by her feet. As her smallest pokemon, he customarily slept inside the tent with her, while her other pokemon found places to sleep just outside it. "Felix, do you know how this got here?" she asked, showing him the flier. "It certainly wasn't there when we went to sleep." The Delcatty looked baffled and shook his head.

Anise unzipped the flap of the tent and poked her head out, to see Okikurimi resting just outside the tent's only entrance, as usual. He had heard her voice from inside the tent and was already looking at her inquiringly. "Oki, do you know how this got in here?" she asked, showing him the flier. He took one look at it and shook his head as well. Then he sniffed it thoroughly and bristled at the unfamiliar scent. Something did not seem right about this.

Anise hadn't really expected Oki to know how it'd gotten there if Felix hadn't, but she felt compelled to ask. How could it have gotten into her tent overnight without either of her pokemon noticing? She looked at it, reading it over once more. "A mysterious flyer advertising an unusual excursion held by the people who offered a recent trip that turned into quite a disaster...I have a bad feeling about this."

But what to do about it? Ignore it and throw it away? She'd had enough of strange trips that took a bad turn. Yet...if it went south, the people on the trip would probably need a healer. And she at least would be prepared for...something. As many emergencies as she could think of. There would probably be people and pokemon on the trip that wouldn't be prepared for anything untoward.

Though her good sense yelled at her to burn the flier and head in the opposite direction, her desire to help people and pokemon in need won out, and she sighed. "I guess we ought to check that out." Oki looked aghast at her. "I know it seems like a bad idea, but helping people is what we do, right? If things turn bad, we at lest have supplies and medicines." They were on the Pilikras Plains at the moment, maybe a couple hours away from Katarina if Anise rode Gypsy. If she left now, she'd probably get there before any reasonable departure time.

As Anise started to get ready for the day and pack her things, Oki kept very close to her. It was evident from the determined look on his face that he wasn't going to let her out of his sight for the duration of this trip. The ride to Katarina went uneventfully, and upon reaching the city, Anise recalled her pokemon, since having all her pokemon out in what would likely be a large gathering seemed cumbersome. All except Oki, who flatly refused. Well, one pokemon out wouldn't be much trouble she supposed. So with Oki by her side, Anise headed for the dock to see what there was to see.

(OOC: I know only one pokemon is to be used in this RP. After this post, Oki will be the only one in evidence; all others will remain in pokeballs, or wherever the other pokemon end up during the trip. It just seemed more expedient and in character to have Felix in her tent and to ride Gypsy to Katarina.)

A quick change of clothing and a free coffee (compliments of the pokemon center) for breakfast later, Laurence and Kili were ready for adventure. It did not take Laurence, with Kili riding on his shoulder, long to walk to the docks. When he arrived, he saw that there were a few others there already; mostly young trainers. It seemed that he was not the only one to have gotten the flyer... maybe it was a real event. He wondered why he'd received one; these sorts of things were usually aimed at the younger generations... not that he'd complain. This would be a good experience for Kili.

((Please put Laurence's name in bold or quote me if you'd like to interact with Laurence! If you don't interact with him, you can bet your pokeball that he's going to approach someone sooner or later. :U))

OoC: Feel free to be the random person Magnolia grabbed.

Magnolia was a bit out of breath. Walking from Motterossa to Katarina was a longer walk then expected. If a fellow traveler hadn't offered to take her halfway on his Fearow, she was positive she would've missed the gathering for the balloon ride. Her bright pink eyes scanned over the throng of people at the docks. It was difficult to differentiate between who were new inhabitants to Zatao and those for the pleasant trip to the Clockwork Wastelands. Spying a sign that relayed her answer, the girl approached the area hesitantly and took a moment to look around. Was Altais there? Of course, the Jirachi wouldn't bodily show himself amidst the group, but he wouldn't conceal himself either if he set the expectation to be met.

The more she ventured in, the more her gut told her to pirouette around and make her way back to the motel. Magnolia wasn't fond of groups; especially those likely older than her. When looking didn't work, she caught the forearm of a random passerby and gently jerked their limb in her direction.

She had prepared the words before to readily ask if the person had seen a Jirachi about, but suddenly withdrew her inquiry when she rethought it over. Who randomly asks on the whereabouts of a legendary with the expectation it'd be milling around? Magnolia rumination over this left her in an awkward quietness with the stranger. She could only look up dumbfounded at the person, her finger still clutching their arm.

With a bit of hesitance, Magnolia flipped her thoughts about, and croaked out, "I, um, t-this is for the balloon ride, right?" Even thought her answer was straight before her, spelled out on a sign, she asked nonetheless.

"Hmm?" Laurence and Kili looked down at Magnolia when the youngster grabbed his arm. He waited, but she didn't say anything; she looked rather distressed, and Laurence wondered if she was lost.

"I, um, t-this is for the balloon ride, right?" the teen stammered.

Locke smiled. "I think so," he answered kindly. "Kili and I are here for the balloons, too. My name is Laurence. What is your name? Are you here alone?" He knew that most trainers lived on their own, but the older he got, the more concerned he became.

Kili climbed down the arm that Magnolia was still holding, stretching out her neck until she could sniff the stranger.

Magnolia hadn't been taught to not talk to strangers, but she didn't need the lesson. Her hesitance prevented her from answering immediately. Her hand broke from Laurence's before Kili could take a step onto it and, instead, she could only stare questioningly at the mishmash of a Pokemon that looked neither like a Pikachu nor Pachirisu. Was this a new legendary Pokemon she hadn't heard of? She knew most about the rare beasts that roamed the world, but never saw anything quite like this!

Rho stood on all fours on her shoulder, raised in a menacing arch with his mouth curled back to the whites. He hissed in defense of his owner, catching the nervous tremble of her as a sign she was likely in danger. The fourteen year old had to gently coax him to calm with a few pats of his head, then sighed, and answered, "I-I'm Magnolia and, um, I'm not. I have Rho here."

"Hoot."

"Argh, not now..."

"Hoot!"

"I said not now--"

"HOOT!"

Fois was fed up with his trainer's laziness. He angrily flapped his wings and hopped on her stomach while screeching at the top of his lungs.

"Okay, okay! I'm up!" Valarie called over the cacophony and sat up. She blinked a couple of times and squinted at the sheet of paper her hoothoot had his beak on. She slowly raised her finger to point at it, "What the... What the heck it that?"

Fois dropped the paper on Valarie's stomach and attempted to flatten it by rubbing his head against it. Once satisfied, he hopped off of Valarie's stomach and stared at the trainer.

She picked up the flyer and her eyes scanned over it slowly. After a few minutes of rereading the same lines and skipping a few by accident, she finally decided to say something, "I don't know about this Fois, this seems like a scam--" she suddenly stopped and reread the last line a few times to make sure her head was making things up.

The watcher jolted up and unzipped the entrance of the tent, "Fois, go gather some berries while I pack the tent. We're going to the Katarina Docks!"

“Merda, whatever you have, drop it.” Lex called, stepping over the sunning Ekans and idly scratching the Glameow curled on the still. He could hear his Zubat scrambling about on the hotels table and his Cottonee was giving soft cooing noises in his sleep. “Merda!”

The blind bat pokemon reared on her hind legs and chattered at him, thrusting something frail and yellowing at his face. What the frag. Lex sighed, flopping on one of the degrading chairs and kicked a leg over his knee, taking the paper. “The S.S. Extrasensory Cruise… adventure, blah, blah…” He looked over the yellowing page and back to the bat.

Merda on a balloon ride… the zubat would get herself singed. Ran would tip the balloon over. Glamour wasn’t interested. Asha … people were scared of snakes so bringing her aboard wouldn’t be the smartest. Hollin… He would have to watch the wind but they should be fine.

A short trip saw that the rest of his team was placed in storage, a quick pack for some essentials and he was off to the docks, Hollin perched on his backpack.
