Name: Crispin Alexander Ceineros
Nicknames: Nothing he'd care to bring to Deus with him!
Gender: Male
Age: 18 (Birthday April 8th)
Image Song: The Road Most Traveled, Jeremy Soule (The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind)
Category: Moon Hunter
Personality: An earnest young man who self-identifies as a geek, Crispin is a bit shy, yet cheerful. He has no sense of guile or mysterious motives, and tends to think the best of people automatically, ascribing noble motives to them that they may not have. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and possesses a huge helping of naivete that will probably get him into big trouble.
Video games were his first great nerdy love, and his apartment had a fairly ridiculous console setup. He loves RPGs of all types (including those fused with other genres) and certain FPS titles. JRPGs are a particular favorite of his, and he grew up on older adventure games. If it exists, chances are Crispin either has played it or at least knows about it. He may even have a 100+ hour save of it.
Crispin's other favorite escapist hobby is simply
being someone else. He's in three or four online roleplays, text-based, dice-based, you name it. He tends to always play the same character type, skewing towards Lawful Good with a particular fondness for paladins. There's a reason for that: Crispin finds honor and chivalry to be of utmost importance, and tries to put those ancient moral creeds into action in his everyday life. He values being trustworthy, accountable, and forthright.
After a life spent largely in escapism, getting to
literally escape and be a hero is pretty much Crispin's dream come true. His default initial reaction to adventures is "
cool!"... without a concept of what danger he may be in. He has yet to think about the nitty-gritty untold stories behind every glorious tale, and that will likely be a rude awakening for him. Still, he is very likely to develop a sort of hero complex.
He wants very badly to succeed and to be accepted by those around him, and sometimes struggles with low self-esteem and self-doubt. Also, Crispin's earnest interest in things can easily flip to become obsessive; sometimes he'll fixate on something and be nigh-impossible to distract. For example, if he gets obsessed with a video game? He won't be happy unless he's playing it, talking about it, etc. So he might talk about it endlessly even while doing other things, thereby annoying everyone. The possibilities are, unfortunately, endless.
Still, Crispin is loyal and determined, both to protect humanity and to be gallant and knightly while doing so. It's hard to bring him down - when he crashes, he crashes hard, but getting him there will be quite the challenge!
History: Like every Hunter candidate, Crispin has seen shadows all his life, not knowing what they truly were but feeling anxious and uneasy whenever he saw them. They were
wrong, but he could never actually do anything about them, no matter how hard he tried. His parents put his stories down to the ramblings of an imaginative and fantasy-loving child.
By college, he had pretty much convinced himself that the shadows didn't exist, that he was hallucinating them - and every time he saw one, it summoned another twist of self-doubt, and fear that perhaps there was something wrong with him. The validation that the shadows were both real AND a threat gave Crispin an immense sense of relief - and given his delight in escapist stories of heroes and dragonslayers, how could he not sign on the dotted line when offered the chance to
be a hero?
