• Children with bags wander door to door
Dressed as creatures never seen before
Like monster and demons that haunt their dreams,
Filling their hearts and heads with screams.
But shrieks of joy fill the brisk fall night
While kids enjoy their sweet delights.
    Chocolate, fruity, sour, and chewy
They don’t mind as long as it’s free

Brown, red, orange, and yellow leaves flair
The trees and the streets in the autumn air.
Fluttering, dancing, they drift through the night
As they waltz in the harvest moon light.
Skeletal trees sway and move with the wind
Giving them life as their branches bend.
Their shadows twist into frightful shapes
Like monstrous claws against glass they scrape.
As the wind gusts they gain a voice
    Howling, whistling unnerving noise.

Jack O’ Lanterns line the streets
    Like an army, guarding home’s treats;
But never look them too close in the eyes
Because their grins are only a disguise.
The flames they hold are merely a lure
So be sure that your heart is pure
Because if they see your soul is weak,
Good old Jack may come while you sleep.
He’s the Who when you ask, “Who is there?”
He is creek hiding under your stairs.
The Pumpkin King, the Master of Fear,
Knows your worst and darkest nightmare.
So on hallows day, be sure to be nice
Or the Oogie Boogie Man will role his dice.
    So collect your treats, but play no tricks;
Or you may wake with spiders and ticks.
So close your closet and shut the blinds,
Leave nothing out that will tease your mind.
Beneath the covers, you’re safe from harm
But don’t fall prey to the silences charm.
Because if you’ve been bad and know it’s true,
Then the Boogie Man will come looking for you.
So just be good and do what you’re told
And what you’ve just learned will not unfold.
So if you are cocky and claim to no fear
    Just remember… He’ll be waiting next year…
