• Scene 4 : A motel somewhere in the middle of nowhere

[Michael is standing outside room number eight talking on a payphone]

Michael: You can? You will? …How much? …Jeez… Um.. No, we don’t.

[there is a click and Michael hangs up the phone, he walks into room 8 where Kae is sitting in an armchair while Elis and Zae/Sallie are both on the bed unconscious.]

    Kae: Any luck?

Michael: If we had a cerberillum focusing crystal and 8,000 dollars, then yes.

Kae: Oh. [Sighs and looks over at the unconscious pair] They haven’t moved. The one I worry the most about is Sallie, the faun cursed her when she was restraining him… she could be dead soon for all we know.

Michael: I assume that means something different from what I think it is

Kae: Yes. When a dark faun, or any creature linked to me and Sallie’s parents pursues us it’s like a game of Russian roulette, only while they’re in a coma.

    Michael: Russian Roulette?

Kae: you’ve never heard of it?

    Michael: No.

Kae: Hmm.. Well, you take a revolver, and put in one bullet for each player, then you spin the barrel around, and each player puts the gun to their head and pull the trigger, The bullet could be in the first compartment or the fourth…You just don’t know.

Michael: A rather dark metaphor, but basically we don’t know how much time she has before it kills her.

Kae: If it does. All we can do is pray. And keep scanning that phonebook… Try looking this time for a.. Gina Cosgrove.

    Michael: Already tried her, Next?

    Kae: Denny Marten?

    Michael: Next

    Kae: Stella Bradley?

    Michael: Number wasn't in service.

    Kae: What about Maggie Taylore?

Michael: …Not tried that one yet. Be back in a second.

Kae: There is a phone in here...

Michael: Are you kidding me? I had to waste all those quarters before you tell me we have a phone?

Kae: [chuckles] I thought you had noticed.

Michael: [sigh] Oh well. Anyway, [goes over to the phone and dials] Maggie Taylore… [holds up a pair of crossed fingers to kae] here's to hoping she's in.

Kae: [cracks a smile] She’ll be in. She’s always in.
