The dimly light halls of Excalibur high school, were littered with the posters from the day’s prep rally. The earthly bricks of the walls held the last of the days functions. Around the school, all could hear the last loud chime of the bells as school was let out and students could go about the rest of their day as they pleased. The classes on the second floor pushed through the small door ways to begin their weekends. All the students rushed towards the exits to freedom from the boring school life, all but one girl who stood back from the rest of them, walking slowly, with her head held low. Clutching her schoolbooks to her chest and her shoulder bag close to her side, she made her way down the halls to the stairs leading to the buses. She pushed open the big metal door of the front entrance with a squeal of metal and rust. The wrapped winds lapping at her face with their cold breaths, blowing her waist length midnight black curls around her. Encircling her in a dream like manner, causing her pale white skin to pale further. The stinging cold burning her eyes causing them to have crystals form on her long eyelashes to make her dark brown eyes shine in the sunlight.
“Roselain! Come on the bus is getting ready to leave!” Yelled a tall leggy blonde from bus 17, her dyed hair flying out in all directions with the circling winds.
Roselain nodded her head slowly walking and dodging the groups of students cluttered together on the bus sidewalk. Moving swiftly she didn’t see the large crake in the walkway till she was upon it and spiraling face first into someone in front of her.
“S-sorry..” She stuttered quietly into the boy’s chest.
“No no my fault, I should have been watching where I was going.” He helped her stand up right and smiled a soul warming smile down at her, his straight blood red hair held back in a leather string. A loose strand falling into his ocean blue eyes, shining with the sun. His skin was paler than her’s. His black button up shirt half open showing off his well muscular chest.
Not meeting his probing gaze she bent down to retrieve her schoolbooks.
“Here let me help.” He said as he reached for her last fallen book, sitting near a bus tire. “here you go, by the way, my name is Daein Senevail..” he said as he handed her back her book.
“M-mines Roselain Winters…” She said blushing a hot pink and adding her last book to her pile.
“Oh I was wondering, do you know where bus~” He pulled a pale wrinkly paper out of his back pocket and looked it over, “bus number 17?” He looked up pleadingly.
She said nothing and pointed to the bus behind him, and headed to it. He kept pace with her easily.
“So I guess that’s a yes, is this your bus too?” He asked her as she climbed the stocky stairs to the bus and headed towards the back.
    “Yes.”

Daein followed quietly behind the black-haired beauty that he had run into, glad to be able to have met someone new.
“So what grade are you in Roselain?” He asked as they sat down together in the back of the bus.
“1-10th, and you can just call me R-rose…” She said looking down at the floor as if there was something interesting sitting there. He took that moment as she was distracted to get a good look at her. Running his eyes up and down her petty figure. She was curvy and pretty, maybe even beautiful. He wondered what her eyes would look like if she smiled. Would it be heart warming? Perhaps maybe sunshiny?
Daein shacked his head and looked out the window of the bus. Smiling to himself as he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Daein woke with a start, as he was shaken from his peaceful slumber. Rubbing his eyes against the back of his hands he looked up at who had shaken him.
“Hmm? Rose? What’s going on?” He asked nervously.
“No-nothing, we’re at our stop though..” She replied shyly and reached over him to grab her back pack, shouldering it she headed for the front of the bus. He shoulder his back pack and headed after her quietly, ignoring the girls who stared at him and the men who whistled at her. He looked at one boy who reached out his hand to grab her arm, he growled low in his throat at him. The boy stared at him and let her go.
Stepping off the bus she started to head towards her old house at the end of the road, he ran after her and slowed to met her pace.
“Does that happen often?” He asked, glancing over at her from the corner of his eye.
“Yes… “ She said blandly, her gaze shifting to met his. “Tha-thanks by the way for that back t-there.” She stopped in front of an old two story building, her hair falling in the way of her eyes she slowly lifted her hand to him nervously. Smiling at her, he took her hand into a gentle grip and shook it softly.
“I’ll see you tomorrow ok?” He said quietly.
“W-well tomorrows Saturday though..” She said looking up at him confused.
“Oh, well do you want to do something tomorrow then with me?” He asked hopefully.
“Um, s-sure. “ She said staring at him widely.
“I’ll see you tomorrow then Miss. Roselain?” He asked, giving his heart warming smile.
    “Yes.” She said quietly.
“Well I’ll met you here around 9:30am tomorrow morning. Till then, have a nice night M’lady.” He yelled out, waving.
She turned to her drive way with a stricken look on her face. Whispering aloud, “Thank you Mister Daein.”

Daein walked into his dark dreary house with a smile on his face, thinking about the date he had with Rose tomorrow.
“Hey, cousin, what are you smiling about? Did you get to met some fresh blood?” Daeins cousin laughed loudly. He slid down the stair case handrail, and landed at his full height, he was a few inches shorter than Daein, his hair cut in a much shorter fashion and a brighter red, nearly the color of pink. His eyes were similar to Daein’s own, but cousin had a fairly lighter color to them. Most of him reeked of childish intention. But he was very much a man in their world as well in the mortal world, he was just a little younger than Daein himself when he was nearly two-hundred and twenty years old.
His family full of immortal knights, forced to forever protect those against the knights following the dark one.
“Amull, I believe the term is fresh meat…” His older brother said from atop the stairs staring blandly at Daein. Daein’s older brother Manzo, looked nothing like Daein, his older brother had short blonde hair with blood red streaks in it, his skin was a little tannish compared to Daein’s, his eyes looked much like their mothers, pale brown.
“What ever. So who was that girl you were with?” Amull asked wagging his eyebrows at Daein smugly.
“She doesn’t matter to you Amull..” He replied, eying his cousin tiredly. “But if you don’t mind, I need to sleep, I’m very tired…” He slowly t ragged himself up the stairs only to be stopped by his brothers hand on his arm.
“You reek over human female… brother do not do anything stupid, if you get involved with this woman, you must protect her from the Dark ones Knight-beasts, they will do anything to harm us…. “ Looking deep into his little brother’s eyes, Manzo sighed heavily. “Well, before you tell her anything about us, make sure your truly in love with this girl brother.” Stepping away from him, he inclined his head and stalked off down the stairs, leaving Daein watching him with wide eyes.
Trudging to his room he slammed the door behind him, falling onto the black pelts of fallen Knight-beasts his father had killed and his mother had woven by hand together for him. Snuggling into the pelt blankets more he fell asleep with the picture of Roselain in his mind.
