• ~One night, like any other~

A warm summer night, the moon high in the sky as the reflection off the water peeked through my closed eye lids. I was just laying there enjoying the grass against my body while listening to my iPod. The song that was playing ended, changing to a new song. “Of course, this bloody song.” I muttered softly as I looked at the title of the song. It was your song, the song you put on my iPod. I never even liked this song; I only liked it because I loved you. But oh well, I usually skip past it but for some reason I decided to just leave it on. His eyes slowly opening while I gazed at the large moon, trying to look at the stars in the night sky, but this damn city has too many lights. I couldn’t see a god damn thing up there, I just remember laying in the grass with you many nights and just gazing up. I wonder if you ever think about me as much as I think about you. Of course not, what am I, Crazy, Yep I am crazy. Shaking my head I change the song and decide to move. If I lay there any longer I swear I would have gone insane, I wanted to get my mind off you. Brushing off the grass from my jeans I changed the song something a bit more upbeat. So that I could walk home, I was at our favorite spot, the hill that was at least a couple blocks away from my house. Shoving my hands into the pockets as my eyes looked over the hill, taking the path down it on my journey back home.

Just a couple blocks away from my house I yawned lightly, enjoying the music coming into my ears when it suddenly dead. Looking at my iPod I knew that the battery was dead. I was laying on that hill for a while and I didn’t charge it at all today. My journey home was a lot less fun without music. It was alright, just looking down at the ground. Counting how many steps it took me to move from each house’s side walk to the other house. But I stopped for a second as I heard some rustling from behind me. Turning around a bit as I tried to see what could have made that noise. Seeing nothing I shrugged it off as a cat or raccoon, but I decided to pick up my pace. I saw something in the corner of my eye while I turned back around too start walking again. Oh how I wished my iPod worked again and I didn’t hear that rustle. Just counting how many steps I was taking again when I heard the noise. It chilled through my back as I heard the rustling once more, looking back where I saw the shadow before. It was gone, So I ended up walking a tad faster as I turned around, not even counting how many steps I was taking. It was freaking me out a bit about what was back there. But what was freaking me out even more was the sound of footsteps behind me. It didn’t even sound like human footsteps. I couldn’t figure this out. I turn my head once more, looking at the street light while I pass by it. And there it stood. The dark figure that was following me out in the open underneath the light.

The thing was massive; it was larger than me in every way. It’s red crimson eyes staring right at me while its body kept changing shape. It was pure black while it seemed like the edge of its outlines were shifting constantly. My body froze while I watched this huge beast, seeing its hands shift as it pointed a shady finger at me. Then raised it to what seemed like his throat and then moved it underneath his chin. I just stood there stunned as a cold sweat emerged from nowhere. Watching his hand move from his throat down to his side as a sliver blade appeared from its body. It was a katana, the light from the street light beamed off it and onto me. I finally got control of my body as I quickly spun around and sprinted down the sidewalk. The beast howled into the sky as it then pushed off from its spot running after me and disappearing into the darkness of the street. I heard the howl and didn’t even look back, I had no idea what was going on but all I knew was that I had to get home. Moving like I’ve never moved before. My heart racings as I came up to the end of the side walk that lead into the street. Jumping from the sidewalk into the street, while I landed awkward and stumbled. Bright lights from a car coming caught me by surprise as I swore and moved to catch my balance and kept on running. Turning my head slightly as I ran, watching the figure appear at the end of the side walk as it ran into the street. The car collided with it, but it just merged into the beast and right out the other side. The car didn’t even hunk, it just kept on driving like nothing even happened. The beast through, his body was broken. The darkness of the creature had been stabbed, it looked at itself and the large car shaped hole. I let out a relieved sigh hoping this creature was done for. But my hazel eyes widen as I saw its shape reform into something new. It took a shape of a human, still holding onto the katana as it restarted its rampage at me. I turned upon seeing this and began my sprint back home; my eyes closing as my lungs felt like they were going to explode. I was able to run this distance; I have done it many times. But the fear of getting killed was a huge strain on me, but with relief I was almost home. I manage to run through my neighbor’s yard and into my yard. But I tripped when I looked behind me after I heard the beast howl again.

My head hit the ground as I caught the edge of my driveway, my head hurt like hell. My eyes focused after I caught my breath. Trying to look around I saw the creature was only a couple feet away from me. I tried to move to get up but the beast got closer, he stood over me while the tip of the blade had moved over my heart. His demonic eyes staring into mine and my soul, I couldn’t breathe while the cold sweat had appeared again. I could only mutter up enough energy to ask, “Who are you?” But the response I got was nothing more than the creature cutting me across the chest with the blade. I screamed out in pain as I watched the blood drip down the blade when he held it to my arm and cut me again. The pain engulfed my body while my eyes were getting heavy from all it. I looked at my driveway seeing all the blood, it seemed that I also cut my head open when I hit it from falling. I shifted enough to see the creature hovering over me, a wicked grin screeching across his face while it held the blade against my heart. God why is this happening to me, what is this creature and why is it trying to kill me. This must be the end, I couldn’t breathe, I was blacking out because of the blood lost, and the pain from all the wounds. It was making me numb, I couldn’t say anything, and I couldn’t open my mouth. All I could do was lay there bleeding and remember you.

The sun was beaming down on me, piercing my eyelids as while my hand moved to rub against my head. It felt like I had my head squished like a grape, I groaned while moving myself a bit to sit up. Then it all hit me, everything that happened the night before. My eyes shot open looking over my body as I was surprised to be alive. Even more surprising was that I had no wounds, my shirt and pants were cut up from where I was hit but no wounds could be seen. And all the blood was gone, it was just crazy. I got onto my knees. My head met the ground once more as I lost balance, I couldn’t stand by myself. I sighed and looked around me; a black object in the grass caught my eyes. Reaching over for it, I pulled it closer to me. In my hands I held a black hilt of the katana from the beast. My eyes were just wide as I swore, taking the blade out from the hilt an inch. I looked over the blade, seeing what looked like a Japanese symbol. Well nothing to do with it but keep it I guess, but for now I used it to prop myself up and limp into the house. It was the morning so my mom was most likely still asleep. I looked at my cell phone while I unlocked my door. Nope, nobody had called so she didn’t even notice I wasn’t home last night. Going into the bathroom to wash my face and look over my body for the cuts. Nope, Just like I thought, nothing on my body to show that creature had attacked me. Throwing water on my face and shaking my head a bit. “********.” Is all that could come out of my mouth as I looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes were blurry; I couldn’t even really see myself. I just took a deep breath and got out of the bathroom. Moving up the stairs with the help of the sword, reaching my room as I plopped onto my bed. Taking off my ripped shirt and pants, throwing them to the side as I put the sword on the side of my bed. I would have to look at that later, but I rubbed my eyes. I couldn’t tell what was going on with them, they felt like they were on fire. I looked at the wall of my room and saw a bright red light, the light of the creature’s eyes last night. I almost jumped off my bed as I looked all around the room for what could have made that light. I saw nothing, I just sighed softly and closed my eyes. I laughed as a strange though came through my head. Was the light from my eyes. I just shook my head again, rolling over on my side as the lyrics of your favorite song came into my head again. Huh, even though all that stuff last night, the last thing I think of before I fall asleep is you again. Strange, I must be going crazy, yep, I’m going crazy.
